Premiere Elements 13 issue with the mouse on MAC OSX Yosemite 10.10.1
When I select a clip of video and move to a different place in my time line, Premiere Elements 13, will not release the clip from the mouse.
The clip follows my mouse movements and goes to other places in my time line.
I try to delete these extra insertions, but the mouse will not release the clip.
Action I’ve taken: I’ve re-installed Premiere Elements 13. Problem remains.
This issue has consumed too much of my time and does not go away. It ruins my video.
Help please.
ThanksI tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.
So thanks! Problem solved! -
I have recently had problems in getting my Adobe Premiere Elements 10 to run. One of the gentlemen was able to take over control of my computer, and got it working for me, however since that time the program will sometimes open but most times it just freezes the computer and I have to shut it down and re open without any success with opening the elements program.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on?
What video card/graphics card does your computer use? NVIDIA GeForce? If so, please read the Announcement about the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce issue which is found at the top of this web site. Does that apply to you? The explanation for the situation and the fix (roll back of the driver version) are all included in that Announcement.
We need to rule in or out this factor at the onset before we get to other questions

Aspect ratio problem with consumer camera and Premiere Elements 11
Hello everyone - I'm Steve. I'm new here. I do still photography on a pro level, digital and analog, but I am an absolute dummy with video...but then, I don't want to do much, just rudimentarily cut a few family videos, upload them, etc.
However, I can't get Premiere Elements 11 to output my self-shot clips in a correct aspect ratio.
My camera is a consumer-model Canon Legria FS200. I shoot video in a resolution the camera calls XP. The camera says they are 16:9, the camera monitor shows them as 16:9, and when I use the software (called Pixela Image Mixer) that came with the camera to import the clips to disk, I get mpg files that Windows (7) Explorer says are 720x576 pixel, and that VLC player correctly displays as wide-screen 16:9 without me having to tweak its display settings.
However, the moment I import them into Premiere Elements, they appear horizontally squeezed, and I can't seem to output them any other way, with or even without editing them in Premiere.
I tried to use the recipe given here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/5987538#5987538 , (replacing only NTSC with PAL because I'm in Germany), namely, setting the project preset set manually for PAL/Hard Disk etc/ Widescreen 48kHz and check force selected program settings. But no matter, Premiere displays the video in horizontally compressed form, with large black bars to the right and to the left.
On the export side, setting the output to PAL DVD Widescreen and setting the Pixel Aspect Ratio in the output settings to Widescreen does not help, either. Neither can I force VLC player manually to display the correct aspect ratio. BTW, audio is perfect all along.
This is about as far as I can see myself getting without help. Has anyone any idea?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Steve, from GermanySteve
I see that you are now in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum with your problem already solved.
I did not see any Why for what you encountered, so I thought I would give you my take on this.
Your Canon FS200 gives video with MPEG2 video compression with a .mod file extension. That .mod file extension can be found in use with some Canon as well as JVC cameras. The .mod file history with Premiere Elements (any version) is problematic. In some instances, the user needs to rename the file extension from .mod to .mpg before it can be imported, but not always. But, the .mod widescreen comes packaged with the aspect ratio dilemma, presenting as 4:3 rather than 16:9. The classical argument is whether Premiere Elements does not recognize a .mod file's 16:9 flag or whether the 16:9 flag got lost.
There used to be a utility contributed by an user to handle the file extension and/or aspect ratio issues. Now, the general fix is to import the file into Premiere Elements (in your case 11) with Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets. And in Project Assets, you right click the file, select Interpret Footage, and go to the Pixel Aspect Ratio section of the Interpret Footage dialog where you
(a) dot the Conform To:
and
(a) set the Contorm To: field to (in your case) D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.4587)
Once you are in the program and have the file on the Timeline, if any black edges, you can click the monitor to bring up the image's bounding box. Then drag on a bounding box handle to scale the image just to the point where the black edges are gone.
If you ever need the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum, maybe bookmark this link
Premiere Elements
You should expect to have this issue with any .mod widescreen file that you obtain from your Canon FS200 camera.
ATR
Add On...If you are depending on the program to set the correct project preset, you may want to check into what it is setting based on the properties the first file you drag to the Timeline. A manual setting of the project preset may be in order. Please see

Problem with getting Dissolve Transitions - Premiere Elements 9
Have been using Premiere Elements for years and up to Premiere Elements 7 I have had no problem applying Dissolve Transitions or other Transitions in a very straight forward manner, Since I moved to Premiere Elements 9 I can not get Dissolve Transitions to work at all. Some of the transitions work as before but many give a problem
Tempted to move back to Premiere Elements 7.
Anybody had the same problem and able to resolve it.
Regards
BMcDBilly,
Welcome to the forum.
I'm with Steve on asking "what exactly is the problem?"
If you are having issues with a Cross-Dissolve only going to one Clip, and not spanning the Clips, or having Frames, that were edited out, showing up during the Transition, then take a look at this ARTICLE on Handles. Those (well, actually the lack, thereof) trip up many.
Good luck, and please let us know more,

I have a 10 minute wedding video I am trying to export from Adobe Premiere Elements 9 to upload to vimeo. I followed the directions from this video: Exporting for upload to Vimeo with Adobe Premiere Elements on Vimeo to figure how to accomplish this. The first time I followed the directions, the resulting video file was fuzzy and blurry, not at all like the HD video I could view in the program before export. Since then, I've tried exporting it multiple times with different settings, and each time the program crashes when the video is around 95% complete. How can I rectify this situation? This is a wedding video I made for a paying customer who would like their video on vimeo as soon as possible.
Thanks for your help!
Let me know if you need more details or clarifications.

What are the properties of what you are putting on the Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Timeline? Are you working with a SD or HD file?
What have you set as the project preset when you started the projec?
1. So, video compression, audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio...as
much information as you can supply....sometimes the brand, model, settings of the camera recording the video will give us all the
information that you need to set up the project correctly or to verify that it has been set up correctly.

I have problems with my Photoshop and Premiere Elements 10
I've had Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 since February and they've been nothing but trouble, constantly closing and, in addition, I believe causiing other programs, such as IE 9 and those in Office 10, to close also.
They've disappeared again and, again, I am unable to download them. I've been on Chat, followed instructions with no result, and spent about 15 hours trying to re-download them. Again. I just don't understand this. I've had a running dialogue with Adobe and gotten nowhere.
Must I order and pay for the discs? If I get the discs, will my results be any different? (Better or worse?)Branching to a new discussion as this is not related to the previous error message posted.
Kay Latona you can order replacement media by contacting our support team. Are you currently receiving errors when trying to install Photoshop and Premiere Elements or when you try to open either Photoshop or Premiere Elements? -
Problems with rendering quality in Premiere Elements 9
Hello, I've made a few videos with PE 9 now, and I get very poor quality rendering despite trying several different settings. I saw on a help thread earlier that I needed to try changing to HD when creating the new file from the beginning. I did that, but it only made my PE 9 run more slowly, and the rendering quality was not improved. I also read somewhere that using .MOV files as a source can cause problems with rendering; is that true? I hope not! I use a Lumix bridge camera for my videos, and the video quality is very good. And when I'm working with these videos within PE 9 the quality is great. It's only when exporting to various file types that the quality suddenly becomes poor. For the most part I have made compilation videos of gymnasts, and when their legs move they are often so lined or pixelated that they become invisible. Here is an example of a short gym video I made yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0s7tUBcSZk. The last girl jumping gives the best example of this invisible leg problem.
You can see the original source films here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmUMi9oN8dQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEzcJZjhxiI
and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I53twqPQMV4
The sequences I took in my compilation video start at about 20 seconds in the source videos.
Youtube does reduce the quality of the videos slightly, but in any case you can definitely see a difference in quality between the source videos and the PE 9 rendered compilation video.
I'm quite disappointed because I made a longer compilation video set to music (which was a lot of work), and it looks so much nicer on PE 9 than on any of the rendered formats, but of course I can't share the PE 9 version!
Thanks very much for your help.
ChlesteThanks Steve. I'm not sure what resolution I'm shooting in, actually. However, the thing is that when I make these compilations, I like to go back to source videos I've made in the past sometimes. Sometimes these videos come from a Canon camera, and sometimes they even come from my Samsung mobile telephone. I like being able to creatively combine historic moments, and these moments might have been recorded without any intention at the time of making a compilation video. Is it not possible to combine several kinds of video sources?
I'm uploading an example of a compilation with mixed source videos from various kinds of cameras. It's 710 Megs so it will take a while, but when it's finished you will be able to see it at http://youtu.be/CslpULRe4LU.
I opened up the file for the compilation of the four girls on the beam (video posted in original message), and I do indeed see those red lines in the timeline. Is there anything I can do now about that, or do I have to start the project all over?
I'm confused about the processor requirements. Even if I can see my video perfectly in PE 9, the actual export process will be affected if my system is not up to par? If so, that's a bit disappointing! I'm not sure what my processor details are, but I will find out and let you know.
Many thanks. -
Premiere Elements cause problems with Windows Media Center while streaming to TV.
I was having the following problem:
The audio from the streaming process of a recorded TV show on my HP computer to the remote receivers, a Sony Blu-ray player and/or a Sony Streaming Player, results in the loss of audio signal at exactly 30 seconds from the beginning on either devices. The video continues on as normal.
A user on the Windows 7 forum had the following possible cause and solution. His response was as follows:
I "solved" my issue, at least partially. Turns out for me a codec installed by Adobe Premiere Elements for audio (Main Concept) was causing mfpmp.exe to fail (you should see it getting an appcrash in the event log two or three times as soon as you start playing the media remotely.) This program is used by microsoft for DRM. I went through and one by one remained the various attached (non-microsoft) modules until i found the one that caused the appcrash. I haven't fully figured out if Elements is now negatively effected, but that's for a different forum.
I tried the quick fix by un-installing Adobe Premiere Elements. The uninstall solved my problem with Windows Media Center, but I want to re-install the software but I do not want to recreate the problem with Windows Media Center.
Is there another solution for this problem?I reinstalled Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and the above mention problem reoccured. With a little detective work I was able to determine that the file causing my problem was "mc_dec_dd_ds.ax". I am not sure what this does to Adobe Premiere Elements 10 since I removed (renamed) the offending file. A strange side affect, renaming the file did cause an increase volume. Strange.

Premiere Elements 13 , Problems with new text/titles
Premiere Elements 13, bisher keine Probleme. Nachdem die Filmlänge etwa 15 Minuten beträgt immer größere Probleme Titel/texte einzugeben. Wartezeiten sind extrem lange oder Programm stürzt ganz ab.
High ATR,
Computer running on Widows 7 ,64 Bit System, Service Pack 1, Processor AMD Phenom(tm) X4 945 3.00 Ghz;RAM 8 GB
Grafikkarte: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
If the video on the timeline is longer than 10 minutes the problem will be remarkable. The response times adding a title is getting longer(2-15 seconds).
As the video is now 18 minutes the response time is after each action(resizing of letters or any changes of the text) up to 30 seconds or the program crashes completely.
Project settings are the following:
General HD 1080i; 29,97frames/second; Video:1920v 1080 H, 30 fps
Video: maximale Bittiefe, Dateiformat i-frame only mpeg, Kompressor MPRG i-Frame, Standbilder optimieren
The video is a mixture of full HD videos 1920x 1080 .mov and pictures up to 4608x3456 pixels.
When the program crashes I remarked that the main memory RAM(8Gb) was fully used by the premiere program. Might there be a problem?
Thank you for your service.

Premiere Elements 10 crashing when using disk templates
Hi there
I have a really annoying problem when trying to use Premiere Elements 10 on my Mac
I can import and edit video ok but as soon as I try to build a disk using one of the pre-installed templates Premiere Elements 10 crashes with the following message 'Sorry a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project'. It doesn't seem to matter which template I choose the error always happens.
When I re-open the project all the video is missing and I have to start the project over again which is really frustrating.
Anyone have any idea as to why this is happening? I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Premiere Elements 10 but that hasn't helped.
I have included a screen shot and also info from a crash report (which includes the specs for my MacMini) below.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks for the follow up.
I am strictly an Elements Windows user, so my information on the pros and cons of the Mac operating systems is second hand. From what I have read, there appears to be problems with that Mac OS x 10.9 (Mavericks).
But, let us clear away the basic setup first so we do not have to worry about those factors entering into the troubleshooting mix.
Project Preset should match the properties of your source media. Export choices do not have to be the same as the project preset. And, there appears to be an issue with your choice...
a. What do you have PAL DV Widescreen? If so you have 720 x 576 with a 16:9 flag to stretch the video for display after encoding. I am assuming that your 25 frames per second frame rate is interlaced. Is that correct?
If you have 720 x 576 16:9 at 25 interlaced frames per second, your pixel aspect ratio would be expected to be 1.4587 with Field Order = Lower Field First. If all that is so, then your project preset would be expected to be
PAL
DV
Widescreen.
The project preset needs to match the properties of your source media so that it can direct the program to set up the correct space in the Edit Mode monitor for editing purposes. It also directs that project as to which set of DVD template (.psd) files to offer you when you get to the disc menu section of the program.
So let us sort through the above versus the following...
a. Are you dealing with source media with frame size 1024 x 576 pixels with pixel aspect ratio of Square Pixels (1.0).
b. Is the Field Type, (None) Progressive
When you talk about 576p, to what specific export settings are you referring?
Let us review the above and get those details worked through.
The bottom line may be that Mac operating system. But, we will let the details define out troubleshooting strategy.
Thanks.

Windows 8.1 update messed up premiere elements?
I (unfortunately) updated to windows 8.1 yesterday, and my editor got messed up.
I usually run windows 8.0 together with premiere elements 9.0 with no problems, but now the layout/graphics of the timeline is messed up everytime I drag a clip to it (you can't see the tracks,. instead it shows a zoomed in picture of the time-marker)
When moving the mouse over that area I get lines on the timeline as well, and when moving around a few clips I have to zoom in and out to be able to see anything.
does premiere elements 9.0 not work with windows 8.1? would it help upgrading to premiere elements 11/12 etc?TanjaSRJ
Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 works fine with Windows 8.1 64 bit. But, it will be a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatiblity mode of the 64 bit system.
It is only Premiere Elements 10, 11, and 12 that are 64 bit applications running specifically in Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
But your issue appears to be one of display problems. Are you running Premiere Elements 9 as the 9.0.1 Update? Version 9 was distinguished for its display issues more so than other versions. Please install the 9.0.1 Update if you have not already.
The first line of troubleshooting is to assure that you have the latest version of the video card/graphics card driver according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card (or, if more appropriate, according to the web site of the manufacturer of the computer). If the driver is up to date, then delete the Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Bad Drivers.txt file.
The Windows 8.1 64 bit path to it is
Local Disk C
Program Data
Adobe
Premiere Elements
9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the BadDrivers.txt file that you delete.
After you close out of there and open a Premiere Elements project, the program will generate a new BadDrivers.txt file and hopefully the problem is gone.
Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
The rationale behind the deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file is found in post 10 of this older thread on the subject

The concept of the BadDrivers.txt file and its indication have been a life saver for many, even for those who have versions of Premiere Elements other than 9.0/9.0.1.
Please review and then let us know the outcome.

Hi there,
I am having issues with getting my video to play in Premiere Elements 12. Files are AVI and MTS and I can load them in the software, I can edit them, cut them, put effects on, name it. It just WONT play when I hit the play button or the space bar. Anybody else had that problem ? Thank you for your time and help !Marie-Pier123
I am strictly an Elements Windows user. So, I am not sure what to expect of Mac for playing back .avi. Then, on the other hand, I am not sure if your issue goes to an atypical video format for Premiere Elements and a suitable project setting for it.
Many have a problem with MotionJPEG.avi in Premiere Elements. When that happens the typical fix is to download and install the Morgan MotionJPEG codec or use a utility that came with the camera to address the codec issue. You appear to have had no problems getting this video into Premiere Elements 12 on Mac. I am assuming that you have the QuickTime player installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 12. Please check out the following to see if any of its content applies to your players on Mac.

I was able to import the Nikon D5000 MotionJPEG.avi sample into Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 64 bit. No problems. The question became what project preset to use in view of the video properties
640 x 424 (3:2)
24 progressive frames per second
This was my decision...
a. set project preset manually to PAL DV Widescreen
b. import the video with Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets
c. scale the video to fill (just fill) the space in the Edit Mode monitor
d. render the Timeline content which will surely have an orange line over it.
For export, some considerations might be:
Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime, initially set preset = PAL DV 16:9
under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab
a. Video codec = H.264 (to give you a H.264.mov export)
Leave the "Limit data rate to.......kbps" unchecked on first try and then adjust accordingly for subsequent tries.
b. Video codec = MotionJPEG (to give you a MotionJPEG.mov)
Same comment about data rate (aka bitrate).
The H.264.mov @ 24 progressive frames per second would look like this for the 640 x 424 variety.
The part about data rate (bitrate) is cut off at the bottom in this view.
I played back the H.264.mov and MotionJPEG.mov in QuickTime and they looked good. We can go into more details on that. I favor the H.264.mov. Do you have other requirements for the export?
Please review the above and then let us know if any of that addressed the issues presented.
Thank you.
