Hi,
I need to connect my Time capsule to Huawei hg8245.
Before i used ADSL internet and used Dlink modem in bridge mode.
Now provider changed and i need use this Huawei hg8245 as provider using serial number of this modem for peoviding me internet.
i can not use this modem in BRIDGE mode.
so what should i do to make my Time capsule working in DHCP and NAT as when im using this i see error as "double nat"
when i turn off "NAT" in my huawei there totally no internet connection.

i've set a static IP on my TC and on Huawei set this IP in a white list(all connections such as UDP and TCP)
now i tried to connect to TC from outside network. I see it in my finder tree TC but can not connect to it (((
everything is switched on (BTMM) on my mac and on TC
I want to access to my TC for some files if i'll be out of town

Problem re-connecting Time Capsule after house move.

I have just moved house and my Time Capsule won't connect to the new WiFi router, even though it is Ethernet wired to it. I cannot see the TC at all on the network and the light is flashing amber. Any tips gratefully received.

You need to reset the Time Capsule back to factory default settings and then configure it again.
With the Time Capsule powered on, hold in the reset button on the back of the device for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart.
Now you are ready to set up the Time Capsule just like you did the first time. You can use the same device name for the Time Capsule and same passwords if you wish. The data on the Time Capsule hard drive will not be affected by the reset.

I'm not certain the post I sent was posted correctly, as I added it as a reply to a 3-year old thread. Since this is a recently-active thread, though not specific to the issue at hand, I thought I'd post again:
Three years ago you helped me set up a roaming wireless network in my home. It's been rock-steady and I'm forever grateful to you for the time and guidance you gave me. I'd now like to swap out my AirPort Extreme base station for a time capsule. As I understand it, I should be able to unplug the base station and replace it with the TC without problem, so long as I use all the same settings on my TC... network name, security protocol, password, etc. Given the complexity of my network, I thought I should check with you first for any advice you might have. I don't want to set up a new network or make any changes to the existing one-- with the exception of using the TC in place of the AE. I'm already using Time Machine for backups. As a refresher, my current setup has the AE as base station and 3 expresses hard-wired with Ethernet connections elsewhere in my home. I have a 4th express set up wirelessly to use with my stereo system at the front of the house. All AXs are 'n's and are set up, as per your instructions, in Bridge mode to extend the existing network. I'm running the most updated version of Mavericks on my MBPro. Connecting Time Capsule with WildBlue Satellite Service

HELP! Please...
I am trying to set up Time Capsule to work with my satellite service, WildBlue, and I can't get it working properly.
Before WildBlue was installed, I connected my iMac and my wife's iMac (it's on Mac OS 10.5.0), one at a time, with Time Capsule directly via Ethernet and back-up each iMac.
WildBlue satellite service was installed yesterday and the installer had no idea how to hook everything up. It was his first install. I was able to connect the WildBlue modem via Ethernet directly to my wife's Mac and made it work. When I try to add the Time Capsule, that's where I run into problems.
I ran the Ethernet cable from the WildBlue modem to the Internet WAN port on Time Capsule and I could not get it to work at all via AirPort. I tried using AirPort Utility and System Preferences - Network and could not get anything to work. I then ran an Ethernet cable from one of the four Ethernet plugs on the back of Time Capsule to the Ethernet plug on the back of my wife's iMac and was able to connect to the internet and get email on her Mac. I tried to run Time Machine, but it can't find Time Capsule! The only way it seems that I can get her iMac to do anything is to either connect it directly to the modem without Time Capsule or run the Ethernet cable thru Time Capsule to the iMac and not be able to connect to Time Machine. I still could not connect my iMac (it's on Mac OS 10.5.4) via Airport no matter what I did.
Can someone help me so that I can get Time Capsule connected and working the way it should?
My understanding is that I should be able to connect Time Capsule to the WildBlue modem via Ethernet and then connect my wife's iMac directly to Time Capsule via Ethernet and still be able to run Time Machine to back-up her iMac. Her iMac and the WildBlue modem sit in the same room together and my iMac is on the other side of the house where I want to use AirPort to connect to Time Capsule so that I can back-up my iMac and have access to the internet. If this isn't the way it is going to work can someone explain it to me on how it should and how I should set everything up to work correctly?

You can, but devices connected to the D-Link switch will drop to a maximum of 100 Mbps speeds. The Time Capsule supports 1,000 Mbps or Gigabit speeds.
If you plan to transfer a lot of files using Ethernet, the numbers speak for themselves.

I have a modem from my cable company that provides WiFi as well as ethernet ports for internet TV and Sonos. But when I connect Time Capsule via an ethernet cable to the back of the modem I am unable to get it to work and I lose my wifi connection completely. I added Time Capsule to back up data and also to extend the reach of my wifi with an airport extreme hooked up by another computer.

Put the TC in bridge before you plug it in.. ie do the setup in isolation to the rest of the network..
I would also start a new wireless name on the TC so it is different to the cable router..
If you want to be exacting also set wireless channels so the cable router is set to say channel 1 and the TC set to 11 for 2.4ghz. Then plug it in.. you will have no trouble as the TC will get an ip address as part of the existing networking.. then extend the wireless using the extreme.

I want to connect Time Capsule with Time Warner modem

How do you connect Time Capsule to a Time Warner modem? I am upgrading my Wi-Fi to AC and have a Motorola modem without AC, router and WiFi. I could just upgrade the Motorola modem, but I would like to use a Time Capsule. My connection to Time Warner usesd a splitter that goes to a DVR with the other end going to the Motorola modem by way of a coax connector.

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> port on the Motorola modem/router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule.
Power up the Time Capsule for a few minutes. At this point the amber light will be blinking slowly on the device.
On your Mac....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on Other WiFi Devices
Click on Time Capsule
The utility will open up and take a minute to analyze the network, then display a window that looks like the screenshot below...except that you will see a Time Capsule on the screen.
Network Name......enter a simple name that you want to use as your wireless network name
Base Station Name....enter a simple name that you want to call the Time Capsule
Password.....enter a password that will be used for both the network and Time Capsule
Verify......verify the password
Cick Next
The utility will set up everything for you. When you see a green light on the Time Capsule, log on to the new wireless network that you have created and enter the password to connect.

How to connect Time Capsule?

2. If I do not use ethernet, can I use the USB port on the back of the Time Capsule to connect to my Mac Pro and use it with Time Capsule that way?
3. What hard drive manufacturer is used in the Time Capsule?
4. I understand the Time Capsule has built in WI-FI, but if I do not want to use WI-FI for back-up what are my other options if 1&2 do not work above to connect Time Capsule to my Mac Pro?

No, this is not possible. The USB port will support compatible printers and an outboard USB drive.

Difficult to say. I'm sure Apple uses different suppliers. The only way to know is to open up the Time Capsule (voiding the warranty). The "Get Info" command may possibly supply some general information.

You can connect to the Time Capsule via ethernet or wireless. If you do not intend to use the wireless capability of the Time Capsule at all, you can turn off the wireless using AirPort Utility, the setup application that is used to configure the Time Capsule.

Can't connect time capsule to imac

I can't connect Time Capsule (TC) to the iMac. I get the following message: Another device on the network is using your ocmputer's IP address.

So does the Mac get an IP from the network or is it self allocated?
Does it have internet?

What IP has your Mac got? Just get it from the network preferences. You have direct access via the airport icon.
We have seen any number of issues with Lion and latest TC firmware. Why it works on one computer and not another I don't know.
Try rebooting all the network items.. turn everything off and start in correct order with a few minutes in between.
modem---main router (TC if that is it)----wireless extenders----then clients.
Does the TC now appear?
If not from a computer that can access it, do a reset of the TC and change all the names to SMB compliant.
Short, no spaces no special characters.. ie pure alphanumeric.
Passwords can be longer.. but same rules.. nothing more than 20 characters.
Lock the wireless channels.. for 2.4ghz, 1, 6, 11, and try each in turn if you have issues.

New problem connecting time capsule to PC running windows 7

I have a time capsule/airport that has been connecting wirelessly to a PC running Windows 7 for almost a year. The PC is now unable to connect to the time capsule giving an error message of 53 regarding TCP/IP Netbios settings. I have attempted opening the airport utility and eliminating the spaces in the time capsule name but had no success. Any suggestions?

Start with a reset of the TC.. plug it into the computer by ethernet and redo the setup.. remember.. you have ethernet to bypass all the wireless voodoo.. you can do the setup without even having the TC in network.. pull it out.. plug straight into the computer with a short cable.. go to work..
If windows 7 still has issues.. then it is a win7 problem entirely.. reinstall win7 being the best solution.. !!
Well that is a bit mean.. in their multitudinous updates.. Microsoft will often send an update that results in some nasty effects they never had 10,000 different PC to test for. Sometimes you need to roll back the update..
Sometimes win7 just goes stupid.. go to device manager.. unload the wifi card driver.. reboot the computer and load it back again.. get the latest driver from the card manufacturer.
Also make sure windows hasn't decided it is now in a work or public location not home.. it does this at intervals.. randomly to introduce fun in networking.. turn off firewalls.. and start testing procedure.. ping the TC.. turn off ipv6 in both the win7 and TC.. etc. Loads of fun things to do.
I am not sure the error message is at all relevant.. never really needed netbios to work to get internet.. but go to the tcp/ip properties for the wifi card and make sure you check netbios over TCP/IP is on.

Connecting time Capsule to Airport Exttreme problems

Hi. I run a small video post production facility and needed to connect my edit suite to my time capsule and internet. I wasn't able to run ethernet between the teo, so I bought an airport extreme to wirelessly bridge and extend the network. Although the network is working it is very slow and I can't get email on the edit suite computers (airport extreme) even though they will eventually connect to the internet. When I turn the airport extreme off the problems go away, but I have no connection. It leads me to believe that the two wireless routers are fighting wire each other . I must have not set them up correctly. Suggestions???

There are many ways to connect the two devices. It all depends on what you want to do!
For example, here are a few things that you might want to do:
Use the Airport Extreme at one end of the house and the Time Capsule at the other end of the house to extend the network and give you a stronger signal throughout the house.
Use the Airport Extreme to provide mostly 802.11b/g connections and the Time Capsule to provide only 802.11n connections using dual channels for even faster communications.
Use the Time Capsule to create a completely new and separate network.
And so on and so forth...
So, decide what you want to do and then we can determine how to setup the Time Capsule.

I can't find my Time Capsule on my networks anymore. It's like it doesn't exist. We got hit by a storm and that might have caused our internet modem from ATT to fry. I replaced the modem today but now my Time Capsule isnt working. It's blinking amber. The PC its connected to through the ATT modem isn't finding it as it scans and its not in utilities. My MacBook isn't finding the time capsule either when it scans. Whenever I hooked up all the wires to the time capsule and the modem, the internet stops working. I've tried resetting the time capsule but it's still blinking. I had all my computer equipment on a power surge protector. A pretty good one. All my other equipment is fine. The ATT modem was old, so I thought it might not have even been the lightening. Nothing else in home was injured by storm. I am freaking out and need help!!! I can't use my MACbook to do my internet work and all my files were backed up on the time capsule.
Another problem. My Time Machine isn't backing up now either. What is up with that?
I would be soooo grateful if someone can help me! Thanks a million!

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

Hi everyone,
I just bought a new AirPort Express and Comcast is my ISP. I ditched my old Belkin wireless router, connected the Comcast modem directly to my AirPort Express, and it appears to be working great. I can access the internet wirelessly and also play music using AirPlay through my stereo speakers.
However, when I open the AirPort Utility, the utility tells me that I have two problems with my AirPort Express:
Apparently I have no internet connection (the utility tells me that "Your AirPort base station does not have a valid IP address."), even though I can access the internet just fine.
I don't appear to have any DNS server addresses (the utility tells me that "This AirPort base station doesn't have any DNS server addresses and might have trouble connecting to the internet.")
Does anyone know if these are serious problems that I need to address, or can they be ignored? I don't want to start tinkering with the AirPort Express's settings until I am better informed, because right now everything is working as far as my access to the internet is concerned.

Anytime you change networking hardware, it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking components.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.
BUT NOTHING IT STILL SHOWS NO INTERNET CONNECTON on my capsule and NO DNS SERVER ...
I have tried to HARD RESET it resets ( with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN) and it connects to internet, it also says setuo complete in airport utility but once I go back into Airport utily cause Time capsule is still flashing amber it says NO INTERNET CONNECTION and NO DNS SERVER ...

Check the Ethernet connection to the AirPort Express. Make sure that the Ethernet connection from the Comcast modem is connected to the WAN port on the back of the AirPort Express. The WAN port is the one with the circle of dots shown over the port.
It sounds like you are connected to the Ethernet LAN port.

Weird PPPoE problem with new Time Capsule

OK, so this is a long and tedious saga, but I don't know what details are important and what are irrelevant.
I had an old AirPort Extreme which was giving me problems. I could connect to the internet fine when I connected my MacBook directly to the DSL modem via the Ethernet cable, but when the same cable was plugged into my old AirPort it thought that there was no Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port. The AirPort was over five years old, so I figured that it was just past its time, and I kinda wanted a Time Capsule anyway for wireless backup, so I went to the Apple Store and bought one today.
I just tried to set it up, and AirPort Utility is telling me, "This Apple wireless device is set up to connect to the Internet using PPPoE but no PPPoE server can be found. Make sure your Internet service provider requires that you use PPPoE, and make sure that the modem is turned on and connected to this Apple wireless device's WAN port and try again. If you still can't connect to the server, contact your service provider."
Well, I did contact my ISP (AT&T Yahoo!), and they said that if I can connect directly via Ethernet, the problem has to be with the Time Capsule or its settings, so they can't help me. I've tried power cycling the DSL modem and Time Capsule, and I keep getting the same problem. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on? (I'll probably call AppleCare when they're open, but I thought someone here might be able to shed some light on the situation.)

I had a similar problem (to name one) and couldn't resolve it... I packed it back up and am returning it tomorrow.
All these people have all these solutions but none of them should have to do any of it! That is the biggest problem I have with the TC. They give you a small little guide to set everything up and it doesn't deal with any of this. With networks and computers as they are right now.... you should not have to do any of this at all. You should be able to plug it in, answer a few easy to answer questions like it does ask and then it should configure itself just as any other network device I have purchased in the last 2 years. Even my PS3 I bought last week did it by itself by only asking a few questions! (Same as my macbook... so you know they can do it)
Now.. say you do get it all set up and it works great... hope you don't have kids that like to play their XBox 360 online because guess what.... it isn't compatible with the TC wireless!!! If you want to use your PS3.... you have to buy more stuff.
No.... do yourself a favor... go buy the D-Link DIR-655 that has a USB storage link... hook it up and be in business in 10 minutes. You can also get a 1TB WD external hard drive for $209.00 and hook it up direct to your mac and use time machine and transfer files faster than a mule walking up hill.

Connect Time Capsule to BT Home Hub ?

I recently purchased the Time Capsule and want to connect it to my BT Home Hub, using the Airport Utility on the CD that comes with Time Capsule I follow all the on screen prompts about adding it to my existing wireless network. The Time Capsule updates and then a message comes up about it re-starting, after this message closes the Airport Utility shows an error message and says that no Apple wireless device can be found. I have to reset the Time Capsule for it to show up on the list again
My BT Home Hub is WEP protected and I've seen a few posts and forums around the web saying that the Time Capsule is WPA protected. If that was the case why does it give the option for WEP passwords.
Anybody else had this problem or knows of a workaround ? - I don't want to have to change my security settings on my BT Home Hub to WPA/ WPA2 as this will have a knock on issue with other items I use on my wireless network.
Any assistance would be appreciated as I spent 5 hours last night playing around with settings to no avail - All I managed to connect was the Time Capsule to my Mac (just to make sure it was working).

Silly question, but how should I initially set up the Time Capsule to set it as a secondary router ? by creating a new wireless network or something else - do I need to attached the ethernet cable from my main wireless BT Home Hub for intial set up ? *NOTE: I currently have the Time Capsule attached by wireless to my Mac so therfore cannot access the internet at the same time without changing network.
I'm currently at work so forgive the abbreviated exact terms for the selection process for adding the Time Capsule, should I select the first option from the list when prompted ie "to add or replace device on wireless network..." as oposed to selecting "add device to existing wireless network" ?
I understand about setting it to "bridge" just wondered the best way to get to that point to allow me to do that.
Any further assistance would be very much appreciated

Cant re connect Time Capsule

Hi,
Since changing my ISP to BT Internet Infinity I have not been able to re establish connection of my Time Machine to my MacBook Pro. My previous ISP was Virgin Broadband and there was no problem with that connection.
I have been onto the BT Internet helpline (via Delhi) for about an hour but to no avail. So, if anyone can give me some advice on how to re connect I would be very grateful.

Your Time Capsule was programmed to remember the settings to "join" your "old" wireless network. It is still looking for that network to connect, but cannot because the network is no longer there.
You will need perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule and reconfigure it again with the correct settings for your new wireless network.
I am sure that you know the name of the network, but you may not know the exact type of wireless security that your new wireless router is using.
Check your documentation to find out about this, as you will need to provide the Time Capsule with the correct information to join the new network.
If the Time Capsule does not receive the right settings, it will not be able to join the network and you will see a blinking amber light instead of green on the Time Capsule after you save the configuration settings by clicking Update.
The Factory Default Reset is a bit tricky....you almost need 3 hands.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
Wait 4-5 minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in for another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow approximately 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Continue to follow the guided setup to configure the Time Capsule to "join" your wireless network
A green light about 25-30 seconds after you click Update will signal a successful setup. If you only get the blinking amber light...you will need start all over with the Factory Default Reset and try again.
The reset will not affect the existing backups on your Time Capsule, but you will need to reset Time Machine again to get backups going. Post back if you need info on this.
