Yes, I would suggest to clear CMOS with main A/C power cord removed from PSU.  >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
See if that changes anything.

  • Will a USB Keyboard let me enter the BIOS?

    Hi guys,
I am looking to buy a wireless keyboard/mouse from Microsoft and I have a couple questions for you guys:
I have the option to use PS/2 connections for both the mouse and the keyboard OR just one USB connection for both. Since I want the mouse to use a USB connection for higher refresh rates, I have to use the USB connection for the keyboard as well.
    1. If i have a USB keyboard, will I be able to enter the BIOS? I am thinking NO because USB devices are loaded when windows xp loads.
    2. Does anybody know if it really makes a difference to use USB vs. PS/2 for the mouse? (for gaming purposes)
    Thanks again.

FWIW I have a CoolerMaster alloy USB keyboard and while it works fine with XP Pro (SP1a), BIOS does not detect it so I have to keep a PS/2 keyboard around for when I need to play with the BIOS.
I've tried pluging it in to the front ports, back ports and via the self powered hub on my display with no success. Maybe a later BIOS (I use 1.9) for the 865PE Neo2-FIS2R will fix things.
Unfortunately, CoolerMaster do not supply a USB-PS/2 adapter unlike every other keyboard manufacturer I've seen and these are very difficult to find as separately purchasable items. So I am stuck with keeping the spare PS/2 keyboard around.
Anyone know if the same problem exists on other motherboards, especially with the AMI BIOS, or is this just an MSI issue?
    Update
Just tried installing SUSE 9 Linix on this machine and it hangs when probing USB/loading the uhci-hcd module. I now suspect the 82801 EB USB controller, the MSI implementation or both are faulty in some way but I'll wait for SUSE's reply on this problem.
With all the problems USB seems to cause I don't think the world is quite ready for legacy free PC's yet
    Update 040120
Turns out the problem with Linux was because I had "Legacy USB" enabled in BIOS, no problems at all after disabling it.

  • Z87-G43, can't enter the BIOS Setup, system is not running

    Hi everyone,
I was working with my pc for about 2 months. Since the very first day i had few problems with mobo but now i can't even run the system and enter the bios. First of all, i had problem with running the system after disabled the MSI logo. I had to enebled it again, because it was the only way to turn on PC (bios stopped at the screen with black screen and a2 code) but it was about 1 month ago. I also remember that from the very beginning option "Hardware Monitor" wasn't working, i mean bios was freezing too and i had to restart PC. Furthermore i have noticed that after choosing language to Polish, few more options in "Settings" appeared, but after switching language back to english they were gone. Unfortunately i can't say now, which one it was because now i got the biggest problem...
BIOS is not running at all. I mean, it all stops with A2 code in right bottom corner of the screen. I can't even enter the bios setup. It shows "Setup is preparing to start" or something like that, but it doesn't run... Can't do nothing atm. BIOS version was the latest - 1.6 . It all started to happening when i had entered to option in bios with disabling or enabling MSI logo, i didn't choose nothing, it freezed, i have resterted PC, and now i nothing is running...  Btw sometimes, i coudn't run the system and bios was freezeing also, if my TL-WN722N wasn't connected to USB port in front case's panel. But now, whenever Tp-LINK is connected or not, it's not running...

A2 is IDE detect <--- that is a HDD/SSD problem or its cable (try a different one)
if the above doesn't work try to foll0w >>Clear CMOS Guide<< do that to reset the BIOS to defaults with power cord removed from your PSU!
after performing the above steps make sure you enter BIOS and reset the SATA mode (AHCI/IDE/RAID to what you installed your os at) and boot order to your SSD first!
Ye that's the reason, I have a new brand 1tb sata 3 where I installed the windows, but the old 320gb sata 2 is causing the same error, so I have to remove the cables from the sata 2 hdd, than the pc boots ok. I shutdown & reatach the old drive & evrething works untill the PC enters stand by again.

  • How to enter the BIOS settings on my Satellite L50-A-k4W?

Help me pls!! How to enter the BIOS settings? I do not know, and Google does not help me =((

At first you have to perform an complete shutdown.
    Here an HowTo:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
The point is that Win 8 does not shut down the notebook but the unit performs hybrid shutdown to boot faster. So unit needs to be shut down in order to access the BIOS.
Start notebook again and press F12 to enter boot menu. Thee you can find option for BIOS settings. You can also try with F2 at start up.

"tried to boot only with cpu cooler"
You need a CPU as well
Can you try with different PSU too?

    Hi

Anyway, if you can go into boot menu pressing F12 you should be able to access BIOS if you press *F2*.

hello I do not find the key to enter the bios on the pc I have B50-70 essyé F1, F2 and Del but it does not work

Good day and welcome to the community.
Have a look at page 10 of: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b40_b50_ug_en.pdf
Do you see item #3 (Novo button) on the right-hand side of your laptop? If you push it briefly while the laptop is fully powered off, it should boot to a small menu that has entering BIOS as one of the choices.
Please let us know if this helps.

  • PXE-E61: media test failure on Portgege 3500 but can't enter the BIOS

I canot enter my BIOS menu.
I tried all the keys ( ESC, F1, F2, Delete..etc) but then i get message :" PXE-E61: media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F:exiting PXE ROM". I tried everything but i still cannot enter the BIOS menu.

Turn the laptop On and hold ESC, then press F1 when prompted. Pressing F12 on power-up should give you a boot menu. (This is in the Users Manual)
The PXE error means its trying to boot off the Network, because it cannot find an OS on the HDD.
Test the HDD using a HDD test. The Advanced test in Hitachi DFT is good. (google is your friend)

  • Video & boot problem with p35 neo2

    Hi all!
I recently ordered components to build 6 identical PC´s.
My problem is that they all have the same problem, and I obviously need help solving it
    I chose the following components,
    MSI P35 Neo2
    Intel c2d e6750 2.66Ghz
    XFX 8800GT Alpha dog
    Corsair VS 2x1gb ddr2 667Mhz
    160gb Seagate s-ata disc
    Dvd-rw
Antec Sonata III with a 500D Earthwatt
The problem is that I can´t enter bios on any of the machines, the second i try i get either "green green red green" or the video dies.
I tried changing something randomly when the screen went black, the computer rebooted after i struck F10 + enter, I guess that is the standard "exit & save" key so it seems that it´s working, just that I can´t see anything.
Also, the only thing that booted was an original WinXP disc, got halfway through the installation and then the video died. Seems to be quite random, sometimes it happens after a few seconds, sometimes after a couple minutes.
I already tried with a different graphic card, single stick of ram, no hdd or rw, usb or ps/2 keyboard etc, so I´m running out of ideas.
I flashed to 1.8 on one of the machines, no difference.

I would suggest trying another brand of Graphics card besides XFX.  Because PCI-E Gen 2 is suppose to be backwards compatible with Gen 1; so XFX telling you that they are not compatible is a bunch of bull.  I'm running a BFG 8800 GTS 512 (a gen 2 card) in my system (P35D3) which is 1.0a compliant and I'm not having any problems.  I think it is more XFX is having trouble getting some of their Gen 2 cards to work in a Gen 1 PCI-E slot.
    Psy
Probably, but returning the cards takes atleast a week, and i have til next wednesday to fix this.
The computers are bought to a meeting place, sort of community center as gaming computers, thus they are bought through a municipality.
So the normal 30-day etc don´t apply here, we have to pay a fee for each unit returned.
That´s why it would be nice if I could flash and get six working cards
I found a modified bios, now I only have to find another computer with a mobo that accepts this card, flash one of them and cross my fingers hoping it will work.
    / Jonas
    small update:
Nothing new yet, i´m still searching for a computer to flash the card in and finding one was harder than i thought.
XFX hasn´t provided any new information, although i´m not surprised by that since i read kerrys whole thread including the xfx support ticket.
    cheers, Jonas

  • New Build Issue - Can't enter BIOS with P35 Neo-F Motherboard

    Hello,
I've just built a PC using the components in my sig. This is what happens when I power up my PC:
1.The power LED lights up on the case.
2.The fans in the power supply and, the graphics card, and the CPU start up.
3.I'm not sure if the hard disk starts up. I don't see it's LED light up on the case.
4.The screen goes black then displays a message from the graphics card's BIOS. Just reporting it's specs.
5.The motherboard displays it's splash screen, inviting me to press <TAB> to switch to POST or <DEL> to enter BIOS setup.
6.Then I hear a single beep from the PC internal speaker.
When I press <TAB> or <DEL>, nothing happens.
I have read about BIOS incompatibilities with new chips but according to the MSI site, the most current version for model number 7360 is 1.7 and it lists the E8500 next to it (http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1215&maincat_no=1#menu), so I assume compatibility is not an issue. So, why can't I access the BIOS?
    Thanks for any help.

Would the CPU need to be compatible with both versions of the BIOS?
It needs to be compatible with your current BIOS Version. If it is, it will be compatible with all Versions released after that automatically.

Should I give the shop a copy of the BIOS and the forum tool for flashing the BIOS?
Yes, you should provide them with a copy of the BIOS.  The Forum Flashing tool will only work, if you have an operating system installed, so unless you let the people in the computer shop install a Windows based OS for you, they can't do anything with that application.

  • What is the difference between P35 Neo2-FR PCB versions?

    Hi there
    I have a PC built with a P35 Neo2-FR motherboard, PCB v1.1.
I'm just about to make another PC up using this board and it has PCB v1.2.
What is the difference between these? are there other versions and what is the change log between these?
    Cheers

    Hello Stonedofmoo,
there is no crucial difference between PCB v1.1 and v1.2.  BIOS Versions are the same and there are no differences in functionality either.
The only difference I can see from looking at pictures of both revisions, are two extra capacitors next to the Realtek SoundChip on Rev. 1.1 boards.
