Problem to start PSE 10 after closed it down

When closing down PSE 10 (installed on a PC WIN7 Pro computer) the close down process seems to works OK. However when trying to start PSE again an errror message occurs with that the PSE is running and need to be closed before restart. I can find the file PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Windows Task Manager and if I close that file down the PSE can start again.
The problem seems related to that the PSE down take down all files properly. I have removed the PSE and reload it with the same result.
So know I need to enter the Task Manger each time I need to reopen the PSE if I have run it since the last PC power on

Hi, I think I will wait for creating a new account, the cumputer is new so the it should have been a rather clean installation of PSE from the start I think. A new account (even if I can delete it) may create other problems??
Since last time I have done the folllowing:
1. I did the check in the "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Editor\
and I have the 4 files as below:
I didn't have any error message in this folder, even if i 5 sec before had the failure report that the PSE couldn't start due to that is was already running. I have used my normal functions in PSE and I can't see that any functions is missing.
2. I tried again to create a short cut to the PSE editer but this time I tried to run that after a computer restart and this time it didn't start, it stated that some file were missing.
3. I saw in the Adobe PSE 10 folder that VLC had to files in this folder. I have installed VLC on the cumputer, I don't know if that can be a conflict??
Edit:
4. Maybe i could be important to know that the I can't find the organizer in the set-up I have know, if I start the application with the original icon the Editor starts. If i click on the organizier in the upper right corner it starts to create some work areas but nothing else happen. I don´'t use the organizer so for me it's OK but maybe it's linked to my other problem?
I think I will also try Adobe support call or chat, thanks for trying to help me :-).

  • Computer starts spontaneously after I shut down

After I shut down my computer it will start back up automatically. I've already gone through tech support and updated everything as well as gone into the BIOS and made changes. After doing this twice HP sent out a tech and replaced the motherboard and power supply. A week later it has started doing the exact same thing. I bought this computer a little over two months ago. It's an Elite Desktop model. Help please.

    Hey jshimp,
I'm sorry you're having this type of issue so soon.
Has the Power button been looked at or replaced? Could it be getting stuck?
I would recommend speaking with tech support again and letting them know that the motherboard and power supply have already been replaced. Ask about if any exchange options are available considering the time period.

Linc has suggested you use Disk Utility "Repair Permissions". This is one of the few obscure cases where "Repair Permissions" should be exactly the right solution.
For almost every other routine problem, the Disk Utility function "Repair Disk" is the right choice, and "Repair Permissions" is just a distraction.

  • Problems with starting Windows after Boot Camp was installed on a Win-PC

    Hi,
i have a very interesting problem for the MacComunity (haha -.-). The problem is: after I have installed Boot Camp from my Snow Leopard DVD on my Windows PC (not my iMac); I can not start the system. In the Boot Camp System where i can set the system to start with, there was only the Boot Camp System available (not Vista). However, the system installs some Vista-Updates and some Updates from Apple Software Update (iTunes 9.2, Quicktime 7, Safari 5, Airport 5, Boot Camp 3.1) on my PC.
Everything was all right but after I have restarted the System nothing happend. the System freezed when the boot-Screen (Intel Logo) appears. The Systemkeyboard was not detected. It only detects a n external apple Keyboard. There are some reactions when I press the keys, but the Monitory is frozen, anyway. What can I do?

Sounds like a lesson in there: don't wait to put OS X on an external drive that is usually off line.
Rush to a store or on-line and get a UPS of the 1500VA sort (APC RS would be nice, or SMART UPS 1000VA).
The directory of the drives could be corrupt.
I have all my equipment, modem, routers, the works, but we had a bad storm and one port on the router/modem is out (the one I used, the modem seems to be okay) and I am worried that the UPS's line filter for DSL in is also 'compromised.'
Storms and power outages can wRECK or cuase havoc.
It sounds like you need to map out bad sectors maybe (zero all in Disk Utility) perhaps. The directory, volume blocks, or even journal file, got scrambled. However, because no test can find it means - to me - it could be the "non user partitions" rather than OS X partition etc. Hence, zero the drive or just reformat it in full.
Why have you not ever with these outages, just continued to live w/o one? I wouldn't just shutdown, I would unplug if a storm approaches.
PS: SMC Reset button is under drive bay #4. Give it a 5-10 seconds depress.

  • Problem with starting database after aborting backup

    Hello,
I have following problem. I tried to do my first backup with EM. I switch my database to ARCHIVELOG mode then set location for archive redo logs to recovery flash area. Then EM asked me to make a backup. I accidentally clicked button refresh. After that I had to click "ok" few times and when I wanted to start database again I had a problem.
EM shows "Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance" and Agent Connection to Instance issues ORA-12528. I tried LSNRCTL>stop and LSNRCTL>start but it didn't resolve my problem.
In SQL Plus I can open the database but I can't mount it.
    Any ideas???
    I'm using Oracle 11.1.0.6.0.
    Best,
    Simon

In SQL Plus I can open the database but I can't mount it.This statement makes NO sense.
In order for the DB to be OPEN, first it needs to be able to MOUNT it,
using sqlplus along with CUT & PASTE show us what you do & how Oracle responds.

  • Timed loop not starting - works after closing and opening project

Refer the image below - a simple timed loop should run when the Run button is pressed. What happens is that the parallel vi runs (see arrow) but the vi inside the loop doesn't.  Both vi's shown run forever (i.e. the timed loop is only used to specify the CPU).
When I press the Abort Execution button, strangely it can then be seen that the execution highlighting runs into and through the timed loop and probe 50 is updated.
This sorted itself out after I closed the project and opened it again so its not a critical issue - was simply wondering what could cause this?

    That program looks kinda weird.
First of all, avoid to use flat sequence structures whenever you can, or use it only when you are going to initialize something, or when your program has an specific sequence.
I think you have a problem the way you are conecting the subvis. Remember that in LabVIEW,  the flow of the data will determine the order of execution, and in your case, the conections looks kinda weird.
I have a question; Do the subvis need to run simultainously?, or what do you need to do exactly

  • Problem to start iMac after 10.4.11 update please help

    Hi Everyone
My iMac suddenly unprovoked not working after I downloaded the latest OS X 10.4.11 update from apple.com.
After downloaded successfully, I double clicked the file to update, but nothing happened, the computer seemed not respond anything, so I logged out, but still not responding. I waited for almost 30 minutes I force switched off iMac by holding down the switch button.
Then I tried to switch it back on that normally iMac would run fine, but it stuck again remained as the starting screen, a white background with an Apple logo in the middle and a circle spinning displays loading, but wait forever and nothing happens.
How can I start my Mac as I am a new user of Macs? Is there another way?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Just in case you are in the same situation & haven't already wiped your files then read this:
I was pointed in this direction (see link below) when the same thing happened to me & I have managed to retreive all of my data using another mac that has OS X & a firewire cable.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1246278&tstart=0
Here is some more info as well here from me to try to help to explain things as at first I couldn't make head nor tail of what I was supposed to do:
Make sure the mac that works is switched on & that your mac that will not start up properly is switched off. Connect the 2 computers using a firewire cable & then switch the mac that will not start up properly on while holding the 't' key down.
After a while a symbol will bounce around on your mac & the mac that works ok that you are connected to should show your hard disk on it's desktop (a bit like when you plug a camera or a phone or an i-pod in). The you can retrieve what you need to save off your hard disk (by dragging it onto the computer that works) & back it up. This may take some time but at least you will have waht you need
Then AND ONLY ONCE YOUR DATA IS SAFE you can erase & re-install your system software.
To do this you should eject your hard drive from the computer you are using to rescue your data (i.e. like when you eject a cd/phone/i-pod etc.)
Then you can restart your mac (the one that has frozen) and then immediately put your mac OS X installation dvd (the one that came when you got your mac) press c while it starts and then say install. You will need to also go to options & click erase & install. This will format your computer & erase everything off it so like I said make sure your data is safe first on another computer or even better onto disk.
I hope this is as helpful as I found it when I was told the same information earlier...

  • Problems With Starting Up After Power Failure

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having the strangest problem booting up (or rather, not being able to boot up) after a power outage in my neighborhood last night. What's more, it's the second night in a row that it's happened and has blocked my ability to boot into my two main drives. I installed OSX on a separate internal drive so that I can access them and they seem to be all right and have all the information on them which is good.
Here's what happened: Two nights ago my computer was on and we had a power outage which turned my computer off, of course. I don't have it set to restart after something like this so I tried to restart it in the morning. The blue progress bar makes it about a quarter of the way across and stops. I have the same OS on another drive so I started up with the Option key and chose that and everything was fine. However, the next night the exact same thing happened and I couldn't boot into that drive the following morning either so I had to install a fresh version of OSX on another drive just to get into my computer. I've used Drive Utility, Drive Warrior, Drive Genius and TechTool Deluxe to check the drives and they all say there's nothing wrong. I've tried to reset the PRAM but still can't boot up into those drives which were on when we had the outage. I have unplugged everything and nothing else in the house seems to be effected. Any suggestions? I've had many power outages over the years with my Mac on but never have I ever experienced something like this, and on both drives too! As always, any help will be greatly appreciated and needless to say, I'm turning my computer off tonight before I go to bed!

Sounds like a lesson in there: don't wait to put OS X on an external drive that is usually off line.

  • Keep getting a grey screen with circle with slash at start up after force shutting down

My MacBook is fairly new (purchased in August 2012) and today it was running fine and began freezing... When this has happened in the past I have just force shut downed it, and it started up normally. This time around when I went to start it up I got the apple logo on a grey screen followed by a circle with a horizontal slash (like a do not enter sign).... tried to safe boot it and I got another grey screen but now with a folder icon. Please help!!!

Whoooo - if you have no backups (what were you thinking?) then hang on if you can and some wise soul may come across and give us a solution.
What you need to do is to repair your drive from an external. What happens when you do a 'Command+R' upon restart after the chime?
I also clicked on the stuff on the right and it is really dated! But current Mavericks' users will surely come along and address the issue. Until it is solved, please don't erase the installation, since you do not have a backup!

  • Problems with Start up after loading Parallel and adding Windows Vista

You have selected Vista as your boot OS.
In Leopard, open the System Preferences and under Startup Disk, select Mac OS X, 10.5.whatever and that will solve your problem.
You can also set the boot preference in Vista, but I am not sure exactly where. BootCamp installs a similar boot option in Vista or XP.

  • My laptop takes an extremely long time to start up after being shut down

When I try to start up my computer it takes between 3-5 mintues to start back up again.
    MBP 15"
    Purchased in Ocotber of 2011
    Any ideas?

There are probably a lot of items being started when the computer does. You can open up "System Preferences", click on "Users & Groups", and then click on "Login Items" for a particular user. If you don't see anything suspicious, or anything that can cause long startup issues, navigate to (by pressing shift-command-G when in Finder, and yes, the ~ is necessary):
~/Library/LaunchAgents (can also get here by typing /Users/<account name>/Library)
    /Library/LaunchAgents
    /Library/LanuchDaemons
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/LaunchAgents
    /System/LaunchDaemons
    /System/StartupItems
If you don't see anything in there that would cause the "long" boot up time, then it is most likely something else (obviously...). If you have FileVault2 enabled, causing your entire hard drive to be enabled for Full Disk Encryption, that might increase the boot up time by a small amount. If you feel that your computer still is booting up way too slowly for your liking, then there could be some helpful indications during bootup. The next time you startup your mac, hold down the Command+V buttons on your keyboard, and you will see lines of text rather than your usual grey screen with the Apple logo

  • Problems with video out after closing the lid.

I bought a Mini-Display Port to HDMI and connected it to my macbook pro and to my tv....Everything is perfect i close the lid....Now i am pretty sure i read somewhere that you can still use your macbook if you have it connected to an external screen and even if the lid is closed...can anyone tell me if i have to do something in the preferences?or is it just normal...I am new with macs, just bought mine 1 1/2 months ago so please take it easy on me... :P Thanks

You can use the MacBook Pro after you close the lid it's called 'Clamshell Mode' but for it to work correctly you have to attached a keyboard and mouse as well as the TV, then you can close the lid to put it to sleep then touch a key on the keyboard or move the mouse and it will wake up again and display on the screen.

  • Invisible video download in the background will not cancel or go away even after closing, shutting down, uninstalling/re-installing?

I tried downloading a video the other night but it never showed up in my downloads window/tab. I wanted to cancel it but could not because its not there to cancel but I do see the progress in the icon background in my windows task bar. To cancel I figured I would just close Firefox and re-open but it restarted the download again when I loaded Firefox back up. I restarted my computer and still, there it was restarting the download in the background. I uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox and yet it was still there when I loaded the browser up again. It is clearly trying to download in the background but have found o way of getting to it to cancel it. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Mozilla Firefox has the option to resume downloads if the program is
shut down while one is in progress. Did you try '''<Control> J''' ?
    Go to the '''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]''' {web link}
