    This looks like hardware error.
    is there enough free space on  /backup2/archlog/bdwuyjxg/?
    do you get the same error if you try manualy?

  • Storage problem: "Other" taking up all space

    To situate my context: I'm IT-specialist at my school, where we have an 1:1 iPaddeployment for about 700 pupils and 100 teachers. Most of the pupils use the 16gb wifi version, purchased near the end of August '12. Over the last month, we've have about 20 pupils (and not teachers, which is peculiar) with the folowing problem:
    - iPad shows error "Not enough storage"; when checking Info, the iPad suggests they have 0 bytes free space
    - Pupils' iPads contain not too many apps, at least not enough to take up +10gb
    - Upon connecting the iPads to iTunes, "Other data" takes up 8, 10, 12 ... gb of space;
    - There is no way to overview or analyse the contents of this data;
    - Taking an iCloudbackup with the standard 5gb of free space is impossible;
    - Taking and restoring from a manual iTunesbackup is also not possible: when wanting to restore from a freshly taken backup to the same iPad, the iPad gives an error, saying there is not enough space to put back the backup. Strange, seeing as this suggests the backup taken is bigger than the actual capacity of the iPad.
    What we have tried:
    - Slimming down the backup to just the necessary and even standard apps;
    - Deleting apps before taking the backup;
    - Emptying apps before deleting them from the iPad (we've suspected a few videodownloadapps for leaving chunks of (half-)downloaded videos, to no avail);
    - Empyting Camera roll;
    - Taking camera roll out of the backup;
    - Emptying Mail / iMessage messages;
    - Logging in/out of iCloud;
    - Soft/hard reset;
    - Connecting to iTunes;
    - Checking/unchecking the "Open iTunes when connecting this iPad";
    - Checking/unchecking the wifi synch through iTunes;
    - Using iExplorer, iToolbox to manually erase faulty files (nothing can be traced);
    - Restore trough iTunes using local backup;
    - Resetting all network settings;
    - Putting iCloud backup on a different iPad;
    - Updating iTunes
    - We've contact the AppleCare pay-per-incident, the problem wasn't known to them so no solution could be given
    - Talking to some Apple Geniuses in Regent Street and Covent Garden, the problem was unknown to them
    - Updating iPads to 6.0.1 or 6.1
    What we suspect:
    - Eventually we thought the problem might be with the videodownloadapps. We've discoverend in two cases an iPad where, when you browse with iExplorer, video files were found. Those files were about 1,5gb each and there were 4 copies of each file. Deleting these manually did not work.
    - We use a custom made inhouse app to provide books for our pupils. In order to install these apps, a profile needs to be installed from the publisher's webdsite before installing the acutal app. Another one of our publishers works with an offical app (https://itunes.apple.com/be/app/silverboard/id556871870?l=nl&mt=8) and is virtually an upgraded webapp.
    - An odd thing is that, when communicating with other schools abroad, not a single one of them has experienced this problem.
    - An option we have considered was that it might be a hardware related problem. We have, however, ruled this out because the problem occurred as well with 32 and 64gb iPads, with wifi and 3G models and with models bought in different periods of time.
    What we could like to know:
    - Can an app be allowed to write into "Other data"?
    - Can a profile allow an app to write in "Other data"?
    - Is it possible when deleting an app that has been installed through a profile, leaves behind chunks of data? When deleting the publisher app mentioned above
    from the iPad, the profile still exists, so could some of the data be left behind as well?
    The only "solution" this far is connecting the iPad to iTunes, transfering all purchased apps and data, restoring the iPad as a new iPad and then manually synching. Needless to say, this isn't a solution or explanation to the problem and terribly time inefficient. At this point, we're juggling with making instructional videos and/or a keynote, telling pupils how to restore, but again, I'm not satisfied that this is the only solution we offer them. It needs to be resolved.
    If anyone would have any ideas - or even better - a solution, please do share.
    Many thanks
    Kristof

  • Taking Physical backup

    Hi,
    I am using oracle 10g database. using oracle 10g database and .net technology i build an application.my application is working well and huge amount of data is stored in my database.now i am facing the the problem that how to take physical backup of the database in which already two years of data is stored.before i never take any physical backup of this database, i am just taking logical backup of it.
    Please Help me ..
    Thanks in Advance.

    There are three ways of backing up an Oracle database.
    1. User-managed backups: These are the traditional "hots" and "colds". In a "hot" backup, you place the tablespaces into backup mode and then copy the data files using cp on *nix operating systems or cntl-c/cntl-v on windows systems.  Once the data files are copied, you take the tablespaces out of backup mode.  In a "cold" backup, you take the database down completely and then copy the files.  When the datafiles are copied, you can bring the database back online.
    2. RMAN backups: This is Oracle's recommended backup strategy. The benefit of this type of backup is that RMAN is kernelized or part of the database itself. This means that you no longer need to worry about placing tablespaces into backup mode or bringing down the database. Backing up a database is as easy as the following:
    RMAN target /
    backup database;
    3. The final way you can back up a database is using some type of storage backup such as tape backups of the entire filesystem or mirroring the array offsite.

  • How to schedule SQL Agent job for XMLA script file of SSAS database instead of taking a backup.

    I want to script XMLA file instead of backup of database and also want to schedule a job for the process in SQL Agent.
    Is there any pros and cons when I script the XMLA file of the SSAS db instead of taking a backup ?
    Amir

    Hi Amir,
       You can take the Create SSAS database XMLA script and run the job to create the cube. The script contains the Metadata definition of the Database and it does not contain the actual data.
    Pros: Since you are only creating an empty cube the script will run faster
    Cons: You still need to process the created cube to use it for reports.
    Fastest option is to take the backup of the cube and restore wherever necessary.
    And you can also use TFS source control to deploy the cube and process it later.

    The issue is related with a lock while trying to backup the controlfile.

    Hi,
    First off all run CleanupLogs in DB13, if it is not working then check core files in /oracle/<SID>/saptrace/background/. If they are present move one of them to the other place, then again run CleanupLogs, after move back the core file, and again start CleanupLogs. Also check available space in sapbackup folder. After you can take your backup.

  • Backup Problem with Windows Server Backup

    Hello,
    we have problems with Windows Server Backup Feature.
    Our system is a Windows Server 2008 Standard. On the computer runs a SQL Server 2005.
    Since several days no backup can be carried out. We get the error message:
    - Error during a Volume Shadow Copy service operation. Detailed error: Failed to process the volume shadow copy: "0x800423F0".
    - Errors in the event log: For the started backup an error occured. The volume shadow copy operation  was not successful. Error code: "2155348129". Run the backup again after the problem was fixed.
    We have already tried to restart the services, uninstalled the Windows Server Backup Feature and reinstalled it, also we rebootet the server several times. Unfortunately, so far without success.
    What else can we do respectively where could be the problem?
    Kind regards

    Hi Sven,
    Please check if there a system partition that is created on the server. If so, assign a drive letter on the partition to check the results.

    In my SQL Server there are around 200 jobs of different databases for backup.
    Which job is taking log Backup of specific database using command?
    Kindly help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Its generally a bad design to create different jobs for different databases expecially backup and restore if you create you give specific names to the jobs otherwise it would be difficult for you to track. below query will give you littlt help but if you
    are running a proc to backup log files and that proc is situated in master database it wont help. If you are running SSIS package it wont help
    The column database name will help you in locating the DB name for which job is running
    use msdbgoselect sj.name,
    sj.description,
    jst.database_name,
    sj.date_created,
    sj.date_modified,
    jst.step_name,
    jst.command
    from
    dbo.sysjobs sj
    join
    dbo.sysjobsteps jst
    on
    sj.job_id=jst.job_id

    Some unix can fix the directory entry if you do it before the last process closes the file and you have the appropriate tools and expertise. Google for your OS. Here's one that just happened to be the first that came up for me: http://linuxshellaccount.blogspot.com/2008/08/recovering-deleted-files-by-inode.html
    If you can't do that (and it surely isn't something to depend on if it even works), you need to restore the previous one that you do have, all intervening archived logs, and recover. You probably want to export anything that might be in that file if you can, before you do anything else. As soon as Oracle closes it, it will be gone.

    Having problems doing an iCloud backup it keeps showing the estimated time thing but the blue load bar hasn't budged in over a half hour is there a way to correct this

    You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.
    First check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (settings > wifi)
    If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
    If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for back up in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device.
    Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.
