Only update trackpad to MacbookPro Retina
Help me.
Thank's.

Hi Jeff,
I've got a 15" from mid 2009, which I think is the same release year as yours?
Anyhow - about 10 months in, my trackpad started to fail. Tap to click would stop working, and certain areas of the trackpad would stop clicking period.
I took it into the genius bar, and, basically my trackpad failed. They replaced it in a few hours. It was fortunately under warranty.
This isn't your exact situation - just a story to tell you that trackpads break down..
Hope this helps!

Slow performance after installing Yosemite on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.
Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.
Memory in the MacBook Air is not upgradable. If that's what you have, you should restore the previous system from a backup, or replace the machine. Ask if you need guidance.
The Etrecheck report clearly shows that SylvieRose has a Macbook Pro, not a Macbook Air and that there are only 2 GB  RAM installed.  The Etrecheck report can be very informative if one takes the time to examine it.

In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, you can drag the display pictures to match the actual arrangement, drag the menu bar to the other display, or enable mirroring.

  • What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro retina 15". After unboxing, I turned it on and there was no any problem. But the second time I turned it on and charge battery, I got 2 problems, 1. The machine made noise loudly and 2. The charging is not working. What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"? However, after about 1 hour, it works normally. Should I still use it or sell it before it has more issues?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
This, Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70, is the current version of Flash. It should work with Snow Leopard or later.

Cs5 Brush cursor problem, on MacBook pro, tried the latest update, and the genious dude had no idea of what to do! Apple any fix?

Additional Info - after working on this problem for 4 hours, I shut my laptop in frustration and took a break.  1 hour later I opened my mac and the cursor had magically returned.  No restart, no power on/off - nothing.  Frustration.  If anyone else has had this happen and has actually fixed the problem let me know. I'm sure it will reoccur.

Hacing problems reformatting MacBook pro. Tried startup with option key but recovery disk option missing. Then tried the Mac os x disc that came with the MacBook Pro however when I get to the selection of where I want to install no HD option appears. Start up disk also appears to be missing. Remind them at this time you don't desire a service account, just desire a disc.  The only reason you would want an account is if you wanted them to help you with actual troubleshooting.

  • Trackpad problem on macbook pro

I have been having trackpad problems on my macbook pro (bought in 2010) for the past couple of days. Not only does it move erratically by itself, but the left click does not respond as it should. Whenever I use the left click, it works as a right click, and I have made no changes in the trackpad options. I have done a battery check through the shift and battery click option, and the response for battery came normal. I have also done a PRAM/NVRAM reset, but the problem still persists. Do I need to replace my battery? Please leave any suggestions. Thanks

I would take it in for diagnosis. It would be a guess to suggest a specific problem.

  • Problem with Macbook Pro at startup

Hello, I have a 2011 MacBook Pro running OSX Lion 10.7.4 and I have a problem at start up: battery and wifi icon on the status bar take long to appear, even though they are running, and sometimes as they appear the audio freezes, so I have to reboot and hope audio is ok. Yesterday I had to rebook 3 times until everything was allright. I post here my log. I anticipate that yesterday I downloaded Parallels, which the guys from the shop uninstalled months ago, to run the uninstaller. In this way I have deleted all files and also the application preferences as well.

Ok, I've done it, but the situation is still the same, even though the last 3 or 4 times that I have rebooted the audio worked fine, but that could be a casuality.
Disconnect all external hardware (Walcom tablet for instance) and run through this list and stop after #16 and come back to report and/or proceed to #17 and further if it warrants it.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
There is a madness to the order of the steps, it's designed to narrow down your issue from hardware down to something lurking in your user account folder
So far I read the Walcom tablet is causing some issues, however that might not be the primary cause.

  • Erratic iSight problem on MacBook Pro

The iSight camera on my MacBook Pro 17" comes and goes constantly. It vanishes from System Profiler at times too. I've rest the NVRAM and logged in as other users too. Its like it has a mind of its own. Turning on the green LED and off, then refusing to let other programs like iChat or Photo Booth from connecting, sometimes saying the camera is in use even. Its very fustrating also since I use the camera sometimes in iChat or Skype only to have the image lockup. The camera vanishes. I'm not sure if its a hardware problem or a kernel problem.
I've decided to try to monitor its failure with the HardwareGrowler.app. The camera randomly connects and disconnects. Growl notification show:

    Hello Aaton
If you have not installed any new hardware since your MacBook Pro worked correctly, it is possible that your problem may be hardware related.  Because of the intermittent nature of your problem, unless the problem is repeatable when running some particular software or performing some function that could indicate possible software or device conflicts, hardware problems in your Mac seems even more likely.
Unless you get better suggestions from iNtel Mac users, here are the common solutions that help most avoid a visit to their Apple Service Technician for the "in use..." or "no camera connected" errors. You have already tried some of them, but I leave the entire list for possible use by other readers.
None of the suggestions is complicated, but the only way to find which one will work for you is to try them one-by-one until you find the one that fixes your Mac.
    (0) Disconnect any unnecessary peripherals while you do your testing to rule out possible conflicts.
    (1) Restart your Mac. Sometimes that is all that is required.
    (2) If you use VMware Fusion to run Windows on your Mac, consider disconnecting iSight from your Virtual Machine as recommended by user "The.VCI" in this post.
    (3) If you use an HP printer/scanner with your Mac, consider the "daemon" suggestions from user "parkersal" in this post.
    (4) Check for any running applications, Login Items, or widgets that can use your iSight. (It is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard.) As explained in Apple's iSight "Your camera is in use by another application" message, iSight can be used by one application at a time.
    (5) Try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in How to Troubleshoot iSight. Be sure to include the checks for whether the problem is "application-specific" and "user-specific".
Click here if you need help creating a new user account to check whether your problem is "user-specific" during Troubleshooting.
    (6) If resetting or the other troubleshooting suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
    • Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    • Repair permissions. (Click here if you need help.)
    • Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (iNtel).
    • Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
    (7) Some iNtel Mac laptop users have also reported success after unplugging their Macs and leaving the battery out for half-an-hour to overnight.
    (8) If none of these suggestions work, contact your retailer, Apple, or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for professional help.

  • Apleworks scrolling problem on MacBook Pro

On my new MacBook Pro 17", I noticed that track pad two finger scrolling is very jumpy in AppleWorks documents, particularly in tryin to scroll back up through a document. You have to use a different kind of motion, sweeping very swiftly up and lifting your fingers from the track pad before stopping, otherwise it misinterprets it as downward motion.
Is there any solution for this? I cannot use Pages until they actually incorporate a spreadsheet module into it, and I don't really want to go to Office.

I have the same problem. I played around with the trackpad panel in system preferences but had no luck in funding a solution. At least you know it's not a problem with your machine. It seems that some other applications don't play nice with the trackpad either, eg FileMaker Pro 7 doesn't recognise scrolling at all either up or down.
I tend to use a mouse with my MacBook and both AppleWorks and Word work fine and respond to the wheel, Filemaker doesn't respond to the wheel.
