Problem transferring videos from iPhone 4

Recently, the videos I transfer show up as having 0 KB for size and are not recognized by Quicktime. They play properly on my phone. I am transferring the videos via Windows Explorer. It started happening around the time I updated to iOS 5, but I can not say for sure it was after.

Put your phone in airplane mode.  The problem is that you are transferring large streams of data and the transfer protocol is getting interrupted by your iphone attempting to update apps in the background (which most people forget about happening constantly).  I had quite a frustrating time with this problem especially since I have small kids and we cherish all of our photos and videos.
Another tip...  to make sure you don't lose anything in transfer (who knows, it could still happen but I've found in airplane mode its a LOT less)  just copy files over and then once you validate they are good to go on your hard drive, then go back and delete them on your phone.
Did this work for you too?

  • Problem transfering video from iPhone 4s to iPhone 3gs

i recorded a video on iPhone 4s and i need to transfer that same video on to my iPhone 3gs can any help me with this problem?

However, when I go to play them back in the latest Quicktime player the colours are wrong, mainly coming out purple.
On an XP system, the first thing I'd try would be the "Disable Direct3D acceleration in QuickTime" section of the following document. (iTunes uses QuickTime for video display, so the same basic troubleshooting step applies.) Restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect:

  • Transfering videos from Iphone 4 to laptop, the video is rotateed 90 degrees

After transferring videos from Iphone to laptop, Why would the video be rotated 90 degrees?

IIRC, the iPhone is configured that "normal orientation" for video recording is horizontal with the home button on the right.  If you are holding it in a different orientation, then that would be encoded in the EXIF data on the recirded video file.  Now if that file is edited and that EXIF data is removed or altered, then you could see what you are seeing.  It is also possible that the player yo uare playing the videos back in does not properly support the EXIF data embedded in the videos, which would have the same results.  When I record video on my iPhone 5, the playback on my Mac works properly.

  • I transferred video from iPhone (4S) to iPhoto and then to iMovie9.  Footage in iMovie is stretched.  Is there a way to fix that?

I transferred video from iPhone (4S) to iPhoto and then dropped that footage into iMovie9.  The footage is there in iMovie but it is stretched.  I have tried to adjust using aspect ratio options but that doesn't work.  Is there a way to fix that in iMovie (or at any other point in the process)?

It shouldn't be this way.  Did you shoot the video in portrait or landscape mode?  Many people shoot in portrait mode because they typically hold the phone upright.  This is really shouldn't happen if the videos are shot in landscape mode.

how do i transferring video from iphone to mac, i synced it but nothing shows up

I don't believe OS X has the ability to receive AirPlay (which is what you're using).  There's some advice on the matter on the Wikipedia page, though:

Scroll down to "Third-party software implementations".

You should ask in the Apple Forum. This has nothing to do with Adobe Reader, which only reads PDF files.

  • Problems transferring video from iTunes to iPad

Can anyone help with transferring video from iTunes across to an iPad. This has worked smoothly in the past but now nothing seems to transfer across. Within iTunes on my computer, I've opened the iPad and chosen a new movie to transfer (ticking the box adjacent to the film). There apperas to be plenty of space left on the iPad (currently 3.98GB) .Then I've clicked Sync. At the top of the iTunes window, the iPad is shown as syncing (very quickly) but when I check on the ipad, the movie hasn't transferred.
Next, I've disconneceted the iPad from iTunes and restarted it - I've also tried restarting within iTunes - then reconnected to my computer and tried a fresh Sync. Same problem; the movie won't transfer. On the list of movies shown in iTunes as being on my iPad, the new movie shows up (albeit in grey - so not loaded). As it's not displaying in videos on the iPad, I can't delete it to start afresh.
    Any suggestions welcome....

Thanks for the link. As noted I've managed the transfer on many occasions before, but for some reason the iPad and iTunes no longer feel like syncing. I did finally manage the transfer by restarting the computer (as well as the iPad) then trying to Sync the iPad. It shouldn't be such an issue however!
With regard to the home sharing, point taken but my wifi doesn't reach the room where I want to watch the movie on the iPad. This option doesn't work for me...

  • Problems transferring photos from iphone to mac, iphoto says there is nothing to download...

Hi, I need to transfer photos from iphone to mac. My mac can 'see' my iphone with iphoto open, but the box says there are no photos to download. Could anyone help me please? This has never been a problem before (it was fine about 2 weeks ago). I've tried turning both devices off and have spent a couple of hours trying to search for this problem on the internet. I can't remember when I updated to OS 7.1 but I guess that was recently; could this be the problem? Thank you so much.

This has nothing to do with iOS 7.1

  • Transferring videos from iPhone 4 to MacBook Pro

I need help!!!  I regularly import my photos/videos from my iphone 4 onto my macbook pro.  I do it through iPhoto, and then export the files onto the hard drive so that I can save in multiple places (hard drive, USB, etc.)  Going thru everything today, I realized that none of my video files (.mov) play from my hard drive!!  These are precious videos of my 3 kids that I hoped to keep forever and I'm afraid it's all lost as I've already deleted them off my phone after every import to the macbook!  Someone please help!!!
Am I doing this the wrong way? Is there another way to transfer video files from my phone to macbook and have them still play normally?

Ok I can try that for next time...but is there any way I can get my other files to work properly? They play fine in iPhoto but I'd like to be able to save them to a USB drive.

  • Transfered videos from iPhone to iPhoto, then what?

So I was noticing, and actually I think maybe it has always done this, that after I import photos and videos from my iPhone 4 (and previously with my 3GS) to iPhoto, and I opt to delete the photos and videos from the phone, while the photos will end up getting synced back to the phone, which is what I want, the videos never end up back on my phone. Is there any way to get it to do this? I realize I could then take the photos from iPhoto and copy them over to iTunes and then sync them, but I don't understand why they don't just end up back on my phone like photos do, synced over from iPhoto. They are in iPhoto, just like my photos, but only the photos sync back. Am I missing something here?
FYI, the issue here is really that the whole mechanism is klunky from the ground up. I shouldn't have to import them from the phone, then delete them, then copy them back, just so that the photos no longer show up in the "camera roll", but are available on the phone. Surely there's a way this could be handled much more smartly.

And just like that I figured it out. In iTunes, under the "Photos" tab for the iPhone, there's a checkbox for "include videos". Sure enough, checking that checkbox did the trick. Hopefully somebody else finds this helpful!

  • Problem transferring video from iTunes to iPod

I can't transfer video from iTunes to iPod. DVD movies converted to MP4 using Cucusoft software and a TV show purchased from iTunes Music Store won't transfer. The only video that has tranferred successfully is a video podcast called "Tiki Bar". It did ok.

Connect the iPod and go to edit-->preferenes. Click the iPod tab. Click the videos tab under that. Make sure automatically update all videos is selected.
Note: Your preferences may look slightly different.
Also, try playing the video you purchased from the iTunes Music Store for a few seconds on your computer.

  • Problem transferring video from laptop to Z1

    Hello,
A couple of days ago i installed sony pc companion and media go. I transferred a video up to 2gb from my laptop to Z1 in about 5 minutes... Now there was a new update from Media Go i think 2.5..and everything is transferring very slow...transferring a video of 2gb takes more than one hour....please help...my laptop also makes allot noise when transferring...
I tried to delete sony pc companion and Media go...and just drag and drop into internal storage..but i get the same problem...it really takes long times to transfer..it shouldn't be like this....first everything went very smooth...

Did you get a dialog to convert the video first before copying? If yes, and you confirmed, encoding long videos could take ages on weak computer, so perhaps this is not an issue at all..
The problem with this conversion is that not all formats are readable by default Movies app in the phone, so it asks you to convert it before the transfer "on-the-fly". This takes some time (long if it is some full movie). But if you use another player, like MXVideo for example, you don't really need to convert it, and the transfer will then go very fast (just copying).
I thought it is the driver issue, because there is such problem too (Media Go acts more like a snail than a media manager, and it happens with PCC active simultaneously).
When everything have failed already, try to read the manual.
Kudos mean I am helpful. Am I for you? Then support me back

  • Transferring video from iphone 3GS

Does anyone know if there is a way to import video recordings directly to ones iTunes Movie library? (As opposed to ending up imported into iPhoto)
    Use Case :
    - I want iphone photos to end up in iPhoto
    - Videos in iTunes Movies category
So that both seamlessly are available on my Apple TV, as opposed to current, which is only photos.

Quick follow up, it's of course possible to just drag and drop movies imported into iPhoto from the iPhone, over into iTunes library. This works fine, no formatting or converting is going on during the import from what I can tell. So the iPhone does indeed record in a format compatible for iTunes to begin with.
The trouble with drag and drop of course it's cumbersome, as well as the headache of having to delete the iPhoto original ones, unless your ok with having duplicates of the video. One each in itunes and iphoto respectively.
    Any ideas anyone ?

  • Problems transferring videos to iPhone, iTunes and now QuickTime

So I wanted to add a video to my iPhone 4S, but iTunes would not allow this, as the "file could not be played on this iPhone". After reading a few threads about this, I tried adding the video to iTunes to see if it appeared under "home videos" or "recently added", and then convert it, so it would be watchable on my iPhone, but nothing happened. After reading some other discussions where someone said you should open the video in QuickTime and export it to iTunes, I tried that, but QuickTime says "the movie's file format isn't recognized". I tried this with .mov, .mp4, .avi, and so on, but QuickTime doesn't want any file format. The files open and play in VLC just fine.
What's the problem here? Once I think I have the solution, there's another problem, and I'm starting to get pretty angry with this.
    Mac OSX 10.7.5., iPhone 4S: IOS 5.1.1., iTunes 11.0.1. (12), QuickTime: 10.1., if anyone's wondering.

Has to be synced. But you can change it so that only the ones checked will sync. Go into iTunes with your iPhone connected and scroll through the tabs. There will be an option to sync only the checked media. So uncheck the ones you do not want.
There is no drag feature available for iPhone like there is for iPod. It has to sync to folders and playlists

  • Problems transferring photos from iPhone to iMac

I've recently bought an iMac and I can't transfer photos from my iPhone to iPhoto. When I attach the phone to the computer it isn't recognized as hardware in iPhoto. I used to be able to transfer from my phone to my old Macbook but that doesn't work now either.
