Problem trying to Catalog/Move with PSE 7.

I'm running PSE 7 on Windows XP with SP3.
I want to move my catalog from the current location (my internal hard drive) to
a new location (an external hard drive).
I did a Help/System Info to get the current catalog directory.
I checked that directory to see if there were any images in it. There are none.
I have a 137MB thumb.5.cache, a 24MB catalog.pse7db, and a 7MB itemData.mk4
along with some other smaller files. (I only have one Catalog).
I do File/Catalog.
Catalogs Accessible by All Users is clicked.
There is one entry in the List Box - Photoshop Elements 7 Catalog (Current).
I select that entry and the actions buttons on the right are enabled.
I click Move.
I get a Move Catalog window.
Catalogs Accesible by All Users is selected.
But the OK button is disabled.
If I click Catalogs Accessible by the Current User then the OK button is Enabled.
I click that. Then I get back to Catalog Manager with the Catalogs Accessible by Current User button clicked
this time.
If I click Move this time, I again get the Move Catalog window but this time the button
Catalogs Accessible by Current User is highlighted. And the OK button is disabled.
Well, I didn't understand what was happening in this dialog.
So I thought I'd better ask before trying anything else.

Let's go step by step through that second set of instructions. Here are screen shots of what happens when I move a catalog named "Test" that's starting out in the location Catalogs Accessible By All Users (after doing the first set of instructions). If you don't see similar screens, perhaps you can describe exactly where it goes different.
After doing File > Catalog, the Catalog Manager window looks like:
After step 1. Select Custom Location:
After step 2. Click the Browse button and select the destination location for the catalog. I'm selecting an external drive G:
After clicking the OK button:
Note that it now says G:\ underneat Custom Location.
After step 3. Select the current location of the catalog: All Users:
Note that you also need to click on the catalog name ("Test" here) to allow the Move button to be clicked.
After step 4. Click the Move button:
After step 5. Select Custom Location:
After step 6. Click OK:
The catalog Test is now in the custom location G:\.

Problem trying to cataloge a jar file OBPM 10.3.1.0

Hi,
I´m having problems when i cataloge a jar file, in OBPM suite 10.3.1.0, it is an itext jar file. I´ve been trying to cataloge older and newer versions of the Itext jar file but there´s no difference in the outcome.
I create the external resource, but when i try to cataloge the package it doesn´t work
The message it returns is:

is there anything i can do to solve this problem?..

I´ve done what you told me, i buid a helper class to invoke the iText classes ,and i just cataloge the helper class keeping all the jar files only in the external resource
When i run my class out of OBPM it works fine, but when i try to invoke my class from OBPM with the same jar classes i use in a external way i get the following message:

Unknown Error when trying to export movie with certain PNG files in Adobe Premiere

Hi!
I've made an animation video in Premiere Pro CC2014 combining apple pro-res live action with png animation. When trying to export, some parts of the video are no problem, and some (seemingly random) png files Adobe Premiere just doesn't like?? I don't understand why it will export some and not others?

Error compiling movie can be anything from gap to bad clip, transition, effect, nest, you name it.
Export from AME with preview open and watch were in the timeline it goes wrong.
That is the place to fix it.

Trying to share movie with "Expert Settings" - nothing happens (help?)

When trying to "share" (export) my movie, if I select the "Expert Settings" option, nothing happens. That is, if I select "Expert Settings" and click "Share", then a dialogue window displays briefly and disappears, and the main iMovie window returns.
I'm running iMovie 4.01 on Jaguar. I tried deleting my iMovie prefs and the ~/Library/iMovie files, didn't help.
My iMovie project was previously corrupted somehow, I started a new project and imported the old ".mov" file to try to salvage it. This seems to have worked somewhat (I can play the movie and I can export it in some formats). But I can't use expert settings.

Two things you might consider:
- QuickTime export may fail if the ~/Movies folder is missing. Re-create that folder if that is the case.
- iMovie 2.1.1 can't export to QuickTime if Roxio Toast Titanium 5.0.1-5.1.1's Toast Video CD Export 1.0 is in iMovie's Resources:Plugins: folder. Toast Titanium 5.1.2 installs Toast Video CD Export 1.4 which fixes this. With new Toast versions this is not an issue.

Problem trying to replace WRT54G with WRT120N

Hi,
OK here is my challenge.
I have had a home network based around a WRT54G V2 running very successfully for a number of years.The 54G has a couple of PCs and a network printer plugged in directly and also links to a Dell notebook which has a G network card built in.
I decided to upgrade to N so as a first step purchased the WRT120N. I replaced the 54G and all the plugged in devices worked fine but I couldn't get the Dell PC to link wirelessly. I have tried a number of tests and the following summarise the overall position:
The Dell notebook will link to the 54G but not the 120N (both set up the same as far as I can see)
Another notebook and a desktop both with built in wireless cards both link to the 120N no problem
I even tried plugging in an old Linksys G USB network adapter to the Dell and it still wouldn't connect to the 120N
I have tried WEP, WPA, WPA2 and even no security still to no avail
I have tried both manual set up and WFi Protected SetUp. With the latter the exchange for password etc proceeds fine but at the very end it comes up with the message "Failed to get the wireless settings" (this from Intel ProSet on the notebook although it also fails using Windows XP to manage the connection)
I've also tried various other things such as disabling firewalls etc (although I don't know why this would impact the 120N and not the 54G).
If the Dell didn't connect with the 54G then I would have thought the problem was with the internal network card but since it does I am getting really stuck.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try please?

I have actually now just solved this problem. Although I tried searching the forum I didn't find anything that helped me but then in a round about way found a thread that talked about a particular Intel wireless cad (2200BG) that had problems with the 120N. I had a look on my notebook and sure enough that was the card in the machine.
So, at the end of the day, the answer was to upgrade the 120N router firmware and upgrade the Intel driver software. For good meaure I also upgraded the Intel PROSet software as well.
End result, all now play happily together.

Problems trying to animate ball with Timer

I trying to animate my ball. I just want it to move up but am having problems when trying to compile. I am getting 3 errorsin fact:

Problem trying to update book with Producer

I found a typo in my book and I wanted to upload a corrected version. Everything works fine in iBooks Author, but then when it opens producer I noticed that the title is incomplete and has odd spacing. So I fixed that and made all entries and then when I hit submit I get an error message telling me the file can't be changed because it has been changed by another application. I have no idea what, if anything, I am doing wrong.

you should check out packer or bauerbill, yaourt isn't maintained and there are a lot of problems with it

Problems creating Shutterfly Photo Book with PSE 9

Has anyone run across this problem. Searched the forum here, and nothing has come up. Created a photo book using the Elements 9 organizer. Selected the order button, it saved the files, transferred them, then opened a Shutterfly window to complete the order. Single Image that Shutterfly would show was the cover to center the title page image in a center cut space on the cover. The image looked compressed and not centered. Exited the program, re centered the image and selected order again. Same result, image looked centered but compressed. Went to the Shutterfly website in make sure that images were not compressed like that (since it saves your project under your profile). Instead found that some pages were correct, and some (like the title page) took an entire page that I made in Elements and compressed it into a single frame of a three framed picture page, for example. The whole project is a total mess! I'm just glad I looked on the Shutterfly site before pressing the purchase button and paying $30 for a book to be delivered looking like that! Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I pretty much used all of the prompts in elements to create the book, and since Shutterfly is supposed to be seamlessly integrated into this, I thought it would work without problems. HT1551 Airplay problems trying to watch movies from another player besides itunes.

I just bought my apple tv and want to watch movies from my macbook without mirroring my whole computer screen. Is it possible to do that? Do I have to use itunes to airplay movies? I use a VLC player to watch movies and it does not give me an air play button. So the only way to watch my HD movies is to miror my whole computer screen and then it doesnt even give me audio. Audio only works with quicktime player with mirroring. Any tips/suggestions? And I have apple tv 3 it wouldnt give me the option to select it.

iTunes is the only app that can airplay natively, everything else is via mirroring. In terms of 3rd party apps there is one called beamer, it has a trial so you can see if it works for your needs.

Problems trying to restore catalog from PSE 7 windows to PSE 12 MAC, what to do? NO PC with windows available any longer

I have recently changed my damaged PC windows to a MAC. Adobe kindly changed my PSE platform, it means PSE 12 is installed in my MAC but when I tried to restore my last catalog which was made with PSE 7 in windows I receive a message saying there is not valid file in my external hard disk (my backup). I've reviewed the available technical support and know that recommendation is to first update the catalog in windows using PSE 12, nevertheless I have not any longer a PC and even if I could use one, I have not anymore PSE 12 for windows platform. Could somebody please help me to solve this issue.

A number of people have reported this error message and have had trouble troubleshooting. (PSE is notorious for uninformative error messages.) A couple of things to check:
- Make sure the file permissions on the external drive are set properly. In Windows Explorer, try creating a couple of test folders, and then use another program like Notepad to try creating some test files in those folders.
- What the external drive originally connected to an XP system and now connected to a Vista or Windows 7 system? That can create obscure permissions problems.
- Is the external drive formatted as as FAT32 or NTFS? In Windows Explorer, navigate to Computer, right-click the external drive, and select Properties.
Note that you can do a backup using a third-party utility or by copying all your picture folders with Windows Explorer. Make sure to also copy the catalog folder (do Help > System Info to find its location). Doing a restore from such a backup is quite feasible, though it may take a little extra time.

Catalog backup problems with PSE 11

Hi,
I'm having terrible problems trying to backup my catalog to an external hard drive.
My PC is running Windows 7 with 8 GB of internal memory. My external hard drive is formatted to FAT 32 and has 130GB of spare capacity. My catalog is 45GB.
I have previously backed up the the catalog without any problems but can't remember if I did this before I upgraded to PSE 11.
I initially tried doing a full backup but got an error part way through writing the 'breeze' data. Having read that the breeze data was only used for face recognition, I deleted the remaining breeze data files and tried again.
I then encountered a problem when writing some of my early .jpg files. I couldn't see any obvious problem with these but tried removing them and runnning the back up again.
This time it got a bit further but hung up on some .mpg files.
I removed all video files and tried again.
This time it got up to over 60% complete but it then hung up on some early files which had a 'description' 2002 rather than a straight date name to the file. I thought that there might be a problem with file names including ' 's ', so removed these and tried again.
I then tried running Catalog 'optimize' and 'repair' (I didn't tick 'the re-index visual similarity data').
I eventually got up to over 65% complete but couldn't get the backup to go past my 2007 files no matter what files I removed.
I then tried doing an incremental backup using a Catalog file that I had created in 2011. This backup failed with 'an error encountered while writing.....WaldoData\waldo.cache'
I now don't know what to try! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI, looking at the backup Catalog files that I have previously created, it appears that only the first contains all the images from whole catalog with an equal number of .xml files.
Two others which I created (which I can't remember were full or incremental backups) only have some of the images. I'm sure that this can't be right.
I presume that for an intial backup the .xml files should run from B0000001 to Bnnnnnnn; the .jpg/.mpg/ etc from Bnnnnnnn+1 to B 2(nnnnnnn) and that when one runs an incremental back up the new .xml files are added from B2(nnnnnnn)+1 to B2(nnnnnnnn)+(mmmm) and the image files continuing for a further (mmmm). Is this correct?
Otherwise what should one be seeing?

Thank you for your information about my problem with PSE 11. I have since tried the programme on 2 different computers and it works fine. Seems like the problem is with my computer although my old PSE 10 works okay. I'd appreciate any ideas about what could be wrong with my computer to cause my photos to break up into various segments which don't join together particularly when I move them into 'before and after horizontal' or '......vertical' and even when zooming them. ( HP Pavilion Elite) Vista Ultimate.

When Trying to View an .mov File, PSE 8.0 Crashes... Help I was able to view these .mov files without any problem on ACDSee 2.5, any help will be appreciated to determine why .mov files crashe in the PSE 8.0 viewer....

Thanks for the reply Larry. This is frustrating, and Adobe support is useless. It all works on my vista 64 bit system, but not on the 32 bit system. The odd thing is that I can open .mov files in Editor by going to File-Import from video, select "all file types" and choose a quicktime movie and it will open and run just fine. I can take stills off the movie. But if I try to open the same movie file with File-Open...I get an error message "Cannot open file......wrong file type" In organizer everything just crashes. I suspect there are some security issues in Vista that won't allow PSE to access Quicktime.
Too bad Windows 7 didn't fix the problem. I was starting to head that way. I will let you know if I find a solution.
