Problem trying to sync IPAD2 and IPhone 4 with windows XP Laptop

When I plug the Ipad into the USB on the laptop, Itunes starts and a sync process tries to start. It proceeds to step 2 of 7 and seems to stop its progress there.
I check the Windows task manager and I see that ITUNES.exe and AppleMobileDeviceService.exe are each using 50% of the processor resources. This continues and the SYNC never goes to step 3 of 7.
I read on line that others had a problem after the upgrade to the new Safari software. I uninstalled Safari and the problem continues.
The same thing happens when I try to SYNC my IPhone 4.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
I am happy with the performance of the IPAD and the IPhone 4 as individual products but not with the interface options with my PC environment products.
These are new purchases and they are me first experience with Apple products. So far, I am not impressed.

Hi there, we also have this problem, have had it for months now! have tried various 'fixes'advised by apple. the last error messege that came up was could not connect to itunes because of unknown error - (oxE8000065) help anybody!!! im jsut waiting for iphone 4 to arrive, i am wondering how thats going to go on, i have doupts! thanks for help D

I am trying to sync my 3g iphone with my first generation phone.

i've 'cleared' the first generation and stored the info and keep trying to sync the info on the 3g. i cleared the 3g and restored it to factory settings but it won't activate with 'first generation' sync info. i get a no service and 'waiting to activate' message on the iphone. will it ever activate? please help.

ok, please bear with me. i am NOT very tech savvy and don't have the lingo to describe what happened but i'll try.
my husband and i each bought the first gen iphone. i dropped mine and needed to 'upgrade' to the 3g. i then upgraded again to the 'newer' 3g. hubby's iphone started to lose battery length, soo i tried to sync the info from the first gen iphone to my old 3g. i 'restored' the 3g to original factory settings and saved the info from first gen. i have tried 3 times to sync 3g to first gen. all the info transferred but i can't get it to activate. is it because the 3g is still 'registered' in my name? is it possible to do what i want?

ITunes crashes when trying to sync iPad and iPhone to Macbook Air

I would like to back up iPhone and iPad. Every time I connect either device to my Macbook Air, iTunes crashes and I have to force quit.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

I have an ipad and iphone with a pc laptop at home. I have a program called "Passkeepers on the laptop that keeps track of all my passwords. Can I tranasfer this file to my ipad or iphone. If yes, how if now what program for ipad or iphone do I need?

I have an ipad2 and an iphone 3. I also have a PC laptop. The lap top has a program to keep track of my passwords, "Passkeeper" Can I sync with my ipad or iphone? If yes how? If no what app will work on the ipad or phone to keep track of passwords?

Oh nice, there's a PassKeeper application for the iPhone and iPad. Simply install it and it should talk you through steps, otherwise their website is probably a great place to check.

Syncing Contacts and Calendar with Windows 8.1

Following the recent update to Windows 8.1 and the recent iTunes update, all iCloud calendar events and contacts are deleted. Does anyone know how to re-sync an iPad and iCloud calendar/contacts with a PC on Windows 8.1 platform, running MS Office 2013?

Same problem here. Syncing works fine until it gets to the calendars, then it goes forever. This was an immediate problem upon update to 8.1, as everything worked great until that point. Looking at the task manager under windows during the sync, there's very little activity going on. I'm trying a restore now to see if that helps, didn't see the comment about the birthdays until too late . All I have to do is turn off calendar syncing and it works. Interestingly, if I turn on calendar syncing, but use the "Sync selected", but don't select any calendars, it still hangs.

Syncing iPad2 & itouch BOTH with Windows Computer

I am finding this nearly impossible. I try to do it online, and of course everything wants to go on both the ipad2 and itouch, and the itouch has less room than the ipad2 it runs out of room.
In desperation I retried Cloud but found that just completely stuffed everything up, on all three machines I had 4 of every calendar item, etc. etc. etc.
Is there a way I can set up Windows to have an itouch Sync and and ipad2 Sync separately, so it works better?
So frustrating and today spent majority of day trying to fix all three machines, and have de-activated Cloud.
I can put a date in my calendar on the itouch and invite others, but on the ipad2 I cannot do that? Why? I use Outlook Calendar from my computer.
Have no idea how to print from the Ipad2 either? This is frustrating too. More help.
Sorry if I sound like a dumb dumb, but I have a neurological condition and family gifted this to me for xmas to make my life easier and thus far it's making it more frustrating! LOL.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated. I do NOT have 3G but wireless network.

It's very easy to manage two machines on one computer. I have an iPad, and ipod Touch that I sync on the same machine.
Now I don't use iCloud (it ate my contacts and I stopped using it)
However, when you open iTunes and connect a device, select that device and then scroll down on the main info page in iTunes. You can choose to manually manage music and movies and to sync only checked songs and videos. This can keep iTunes from wanting to dump everything onto both devices.
When you go into the apps tab you can choose which app is on which device.
You can sync the same outlook calendar to both devices and you can even choose some bits and pieces to be synced over iCloud, like maybe only contacts and calendar. You choose that in the 'settings' 'iCloud' on each device.
You can also set up wireless sync on each device, then you don't really need iCloud. Just update your outlook, open iTunes and as long as your devices are in range, they'll sync wirelessly. Wifi syncing does take longer than wired syncing, but if you're just going to spend the evening surfing you can get it going and just let it sit while you do other stuff.

Itunes not working when trying to sync ipad and iphone 4

Hello I have been having a number of issues with itunes not working. When I try to sync my ipad or iphone 4 itunes locks up does not see my devices connected I have to reboot 5 times before I can get them to be seen in itunes. Also when I am able to get itunes to see my ipad it will lock up at backing up ipad. I have removed everything apple and reinstalled and same issue. I am running windows vista 64 bit I don't remember having this problem until the new itunes came out and after I got my iphone 4. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this.

WIFI sync iPad and iPhone with new computer?

Bought my iPad in the fall, but didn't sync with my iMac because it was old and performing miserably, and because I was waiting for the MacMini to get a refresh so I could use it as a Media Center. Well, now I have my shiny new MacMini, but when I go to my iPad settings to do a wifi sync, it says it will sync next time I'm near my friend's computer. This is strange, because the only time I've EVER hooked up to a computer was once, at his house, to charge up and copy a book I wanted. I did not do anything except drag the book to my iPad in the Devices list on the left (older version of iTunes). I've read on other boards that I have to right click on my iPad and "transfer purchases" but when I connect my iPad to the MacMini by USB, all it gives me is the "Welcome to your new iPad" screen, with the option to set up as a new iPad or restore from a backup. Right clicking merely asks me to eject or restore. The only backup listed is dated April 21, 2011, which is an old iPad that was stolen. I've been backing up this current iPad with iCloud and have never had a problem, but it would be nice to sync over wifi if i want to copy files or music, instead of relying on Dropbox all the time.
Simillarly, when I try to sync my iPhone, I get as far as the syncing options, but when I go to apply the changes, it warns me that my phone is synced with another computer and that I can proceed if I want to erase this phone and sync the contents with my current library. In both situations, I'm afraid to proceed because I don't want to lose vital work information that has been stored in various apps. Any words of advice here? I know my apps are backed up, but I don't want to be surprised by finding out that the apps were backed up, but not the data I entered into them. I previously followed a tutorial which claimed I could copy and edit a file from the original iMac and transfer it to the MacMini, forcing it to recognize my new compurer as the original library... so when I open iTunes on the new computer, it does load up the iPhone and recognize it over wifi, and I can fiddle with options without having to connect via USB... but I get halted by that warning, and the settings app on the phone itself still indicates my original library as the one it needs for wifi sync. I should also add that my original iMac indicates that I need a newer version of iTunes to connect with my iPhone's iOS, but it is also too old (it's Lion) to upgrade iTunes beyond it's current version. I feel like with all this amazing technology, the options for a person who buys a new computer but doesn't want to migrate the clustered mess of their old system... still shamefully limited... unless I'm missing something.

Hmm. That sounds easy enough... but how do I backup to the new computer when it doesn't give me the option? When I connect the iPad via USB, it asks me to:
• set up as a new IPad
• restore from a previous backup (where the only backup listed in the drop down menu is a stolen iPad with outdated information, dated April of 2011. It doesn't ask to restore from iCloud where this current iPad is backed up.)
If you're suggesting that I back up both devices to iCloud and then wipe them, then plug them into the new computer and restore from the iCloud backup, so that my new computer considers these new devices, that makes sense... except that I don't see an option to restore from iCloud. Does that option appear later? And is it absolutely certain that any app I have entered data into will restore that information as well, and not just the app? For example, if I have an index card app which I make essay notes in, will those notes definitely be backed up along with the app? Or just the app? I can't afford to lose all my work data.

The iphone is not a backup device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
