Problem un-installing ECC 6.0 on Redhat EL 4 / MaxDB
Hi,
After encountering a few problems with my installation I decided to run an un-install using sapinst. I enter the passwords for the Database System Administrator and Database Manager Operator and click next but sapinst just hangs. The bottom of the window shows it is "checking values..." and I am unable to proceed any further.
How can I resolve this and continue the un-install?
Thanks!

Problem while installing ECC 5.0 on RHEL
Hi
I am new to this forum .The problem is @ the end of the database instance installation .
it says a library GLIBC 2.3.4 is needs to be installed . tried installing even that but hard luck ..
Regards
Vinay.KVinay,
usually in such cases it is good to post some additional information or try to post some info from the logfile or state your versions, etc. Working with just this info (for others) is like looking in to a crystal ball or just plainly guessing.
So, can we please have some more info, version numbers, log file outputs, etc?

Problems with installing applications 11i on redhat 8.0
Has anyone installed apps 11i on a redhat 8.0 box. With a lot of finagling I have managed to get the Rapid Install Wizard screen to appear but then ... nothing. It hangs with no indications of what is wrong. I do have DISPLAY set correctly. I have installed openmotif-2.1.30, but everything still hangs. There is no word on this site, technet, or metalink as to if this is even possible or if so how it can be done. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

Problem installing Oracle 9.2 on RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0
Hi everyone,
As the subject line says, I tried installing Oracle 9.2 on
RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0, strictly following instructions
written by Werner Puschitz
(http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml). Both
attempts failed with identical symptoms:
- the installer asks for Disk 2
- after the disk is inserted, it hangs. It turns out that
kernel is writing messages similar to these in
/var/log/messages:
Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: 16:00: rw=0, want=317696, limit=149920
Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Unless interrupted, this continues until the /tmp filesystem gets full.
Has anyone experienced this? I haven't been able to find
an explanation so far.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Ljubomir ButurovicProviding a thread-bare configuration of your machine on which you are trying to install Oracle on Linux (and mind you - which kernel/distro, coz that's important) would definitely help you elicit more responses to your messages.

I met problem when installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Turbo Linux 7.0
I met problem when installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Turbo Linux 7.0.
After setting up environment variables, and successfully
accessed KDE interface, everything was going on well.
The process of installation blocked at 80% in "Database Creation

Help!I have done some oracle installations over RedHat 7.0 (not certificated):
Let's check some things:
1- You must have changed very few parameters on your shm.h sem.h files which are in /usr/include/linux directory.
2- You need to upgrade the glibc and libstdc libraries (.rpm)
3- You must have installed the jre116_v5 on /usr/jre and made a symbolic link like this
ln -s /usr/jre/jre116_v5 /usr/local/jre
4- You must include in the CLASSPATH parameter the jre116_v5 directory. It should look something like this
CLASSPATH=/usr/jre/jre116_v5:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib
5- Be sure to create and export all the parameters in your .bash_profile.
6- Run the ./runInstaller.sh in a terminal window inside the Xwindow.
You can find the jre116_v5 in www.backdown.org
I hope these tips help you

Awaiting for early reply,
Hi ,
I would like to add some of my observations
1. I checked in jcmon that SDM status is showing stopped.
2.I tried to start the SDM by executing the command StartServer.sh and got message that it was started successfully but in jcmon it is still showing as "stopped".
I am not sure whether the above problem is due to this.
Additionally, I would like to mention that my JDK version is 1.4.2_17 and platform is HP-UX11.31

Moulinath

Thank you very much for your reply.
1. I checked the file system. One file system is showing full.
DevFS 11 11 0 100% /dev/deviceFileSystem
Please let me know how can I reduce it / deletion of which files will not cause any harm?
2. There is space remaining in Database. So, no problem with it.
3. I found the following message from sdm_log

4. In jcmon also, the status is showing as stopped.
5. I tried to start the SDM by executing command Startserver.sh fron /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/SDM/program
But it is not starting. The process is getting hanged.
$ ./StartServer.sh
running on HP-UX better use the '-XdoCloseWithReadPending' option

6. One more point to mention is that the value of one kernel parameter "nkthread" is not matching with prescribed value>=10000. But I could not change the value and so proceeded with the installation. Can this be a root cause? While installing ECC only with ABAP+JAVA , I did not find any problem but this time I am facing the problem.
Please let me know your valueable inputs.
Thanks and Regards,
Moulianth
N.B. I just now checked the file system size of my ECC6.0 installation with ABAP+JAVA which finished successfully. There also the device file system was full. So, it seems that this is not the problem.

Above error implies some problem in extracting the OCL10264.SAR file from your DVD path.
There are 2 options
1) Try to extract that file manully using the command
sapcar -xvf d:/ext/51036972/OCL_Windows_x86_64/OCL10264.SAR
If this works, then try to update your SAPINST.EXE and repeat installation process
2) In case step 1 fails, then your source is corrupt. You need to re-download or recopy the Oracle Client DVD.
Hope this is useful.

How to install d2k release 6i on redhat linux version 7.3?
How to install d2k release 6i on redhat linux version 7.3?
have you tried using open motif 2.1.30?
the open motif version that comes with the redhat 7.3 is 2.2 and is not compatible with 6i. Once I used open motif 2.1.30 it worked fine. The environment variable setting is very similar to any other unix version. Ensure that you are also intalling the latest patch (10) for 6i (fixed lots of problems).

Hi ProfKVal,
Acrobat Standard 7 has not been tested with Windows 8.1, so it is not compatible.
If you use it only to view PDFs then you can download the Adobe Reader which is a free PDF viewer.

Problem with installing and uninstalling applicati...
hi all,
I have a problem with installing or uninstalling apps on 808. When i try to install an application through Nokia suite or when trying to run the application file from the phone's memory the screen freezes and becomes unresponsive but the 3 phone buttons work just fine. I have to shut down the phone and the screen becomes responsive again. Anything available to help me wiith this situations as I cannot use any of the apps I have. Any help much appreciated.

AlexYou are not alone. Im also having the same issue because we do alot of install and uninstall apps. This is the bad point of symbian. But I tired to install the latest FP2 it will be slightly abit smoother now. So you have the latest version now but did you tired to restore any backup yet? It might be the setting on when you restore that affect it. The feezing should be shorten on FP2 but it will still remain there depending on the type of apps from what I experience.
I hope they will provide multiple function to uninstall apps since it will go through a long process to uninstall apps 1 by 1.
Reason is because some apps will go through process like preparing install, process install, finalising install which take away your control for that few seconds or a minute instead runnning in background mode. Its not convenient to uninstall more apps. -
Problem with installing Elements - from noob
I have problems with installing Elements, it gives my an unknown mistake - I already have CS4 up and running, could this be the case?
Chances are not very good that pse 4 will run on os x 10 6.8 unless you were upgrading from an earlier mac version that already had pse 4 installed.
