Problem uninstalling Adobe Reader V8 link

Hi,
I have recently uninstalled Adobe Reader  8.0 and installed Version 9,0.
Now I have a pop up box on booting which says it can't find  'C\Prog Files\ADOBE\Reader 8.0\Reader\ SL.EXE'
After seeing this the first time I deleted it from the List - under Program Files on C Drive - but it still comes up and interferes with
other booting programs.   Can anyone suggest how I can get rid of this? Thanks
Ron Gaunt

And if the problem persists, you can use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove all remaining traces of the previous version of Reader:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
If you wish to be on the safest side, remove all traces of all versions of Reader, and reinstall the one you want.

  • Problem with Adobe Reader and IE

I'm using Vista Home Premium and IE9 with the latest Reader available.  Starting yesterday, I cannot read PDF files on the web.  This is a new problem.  I tried to download newer versions of IE and the Reader, but both tell me I've got the newest versions I can use.
I have no problem with Firefox.  Just IE.  I prefer using IE.  Can someone guide me -- without using technical language.  Many thanks!!

Thanks for your input.  I opened the standalone Adobe Reader X, clicked Edit, Preferences, Security, Advanced Preferences.  Then clicked each of the 3 tabs on top, but nothing looked like "Protected Mode."
Then I went back and clicked Security (Enhanced) and unchecked Enable Enhanced Security.  Tested this change, but I still get the gray screen and messages:  "A problem has caused IE to close."  "A problem with this website has caused IE to close and re-open the tab."  I then went back and re-checked Enable Enhanced Security.
I should mention that I have used this particular website for about 10 years and never had a problem.  But I now have the same problem with any online PDF that I try to open using IE.
Can you think of anything else?  If not, here's my plan of attack.  Please let me know if you think it will work.
    1)  Copy over all my favorite sites from IE to Firefox.  (I've already started doing that.)
    2)  Uninstall IE and re-install it.
    3)  If I still have a problem, uninstall Adobe Reader and re-install it.
Do you think this will do the job if all else fails?
Many, many thanks for the time you have put into this.

I am having trouble printing a PDF document. Whenever I click print nothing happens but when I am printing documents from Word, Excel etc they print without a problem. I've tried printing as image but that did not work. I uninstalled Adobe Reader XI and downloaded Adobe Reader X instead and that still doesn't work. I have Windows 7.

  • I uninstalled Adobe Reader X to address a problem and cannot reinstall the software.

I uninstalled Adobe Reader X to address a problem and now I am unable to reinstall the software. Ideas?

OK - you can download the standalone installed for Adobe Reader directly from the Adobe FTP site.
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.2/en_US/
Save the executable file onto your computer and then double-click on it - the installer should run as normal.
If you want to install a different language, go to this address instead:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.2/

  • Silently Uninstalling Adobe Reader 9

    Hi all,
I am looking to silently uninstall Adobe Reader 9 due to the same exact problems posted in the below link:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5c482
*It's the C++ Visual Runtime Error due to the appdata folder redirection.
Does anyone have a way to uninstall with either the Adobe Customization Wizard 9 (which I used to roll it out) or do I need to work with msiexec and it's parameters? I will be uninstalling from all Windows XP-based machines if that helps.
    Thanks,
    Joey

    Hi Masakonishimoto,
You can try using tAcrobat Cleaner tool to remove all traces of previous version of reader:

    Hope this helps,
Please let me know in case of any problem.

  • Cannot uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0.8...keep getting "Error 1402" message..

Hello. I use Windows XP Home Edition. I am trying to uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0.8 so I can then install version 9, but I am not able to uninstall 7.0.8. During the uninstallation process, I get the following error message:
*****Error 1402. Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{C523F39 F-9C83-11D3-9094-00104BD0D535}\Programmable.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.*****
I went to another forum and asked for some help there...the guy there gave me some steps to follow, and I did so. Here they are:
    1. Deleted "Adobe Reader Speed Launch" shortcut from Startup folder.
    2. Deleted the Adobe folder (which contained 2 other folders: Acrobat 6.0 and Acrobat 7.0) from C:\My Computer\Local Disk\Program Files. I had to use a separate program (provided by my helper who gave me these steps to follow) called "Unlocker" to accomplish this, since, originally, when I tried to delete this Adobe folder, I would get a message saying "Cannot delete pdfshell.dll: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." Unlocker solved this problem, and was able to delete the Adobe folder.
    3. Rebooted machine
    4. Ran CCleaner's registry cleaner
    5. Rebooted machine again
    6. Tried using CCleaner's "Uninstall" utility to uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0.8. When I tried this, I got the same "Error 1402" message as listed above.
    7. Backed-up my registry
    8. Tried to just delete this particular offending key using RegEdit...but when I tried, I got a message saying this:
    *****ERROR DELETING KEY
Cannot delete Programmable: Error while deleting key.*****
I really need some assistance with this...at the moment, Adobe Reader 7.0.8 still seems to be installed on my machine (it's still listed in "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel, and it still shows up in CCleaner's Uninstall Utility)...despite the fact that, as I mentioned above, I used Unlocker to delete the Adobe folder from Program Files. Also, at this moment, no pdf files will open on my machine...so this is quite an urgent situation. Does anyone know what else I should do now? Is there something I need to do regarding the "Permissions" for this particular registry key?
    I appreciate anyone's assistance...thanks.

Hi..I went ahead and ran the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. I used it to remove "Adobe Reader 7.0.8." After doing this, I checked in "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel to make sure that AR 7.0.8 was gone, and it thankfully was. Then I deleted the WICU, ran CCleaner's registry cleaner, rebooted, and tried to install Adobe Reader 9.0. When I tried this, I got the following error message (this occurred during the time when the installer was "writing system registry values"):
    *****ADOBE READER 9 INSTALLER INFORMATION
Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{C523F39 F-9C83-11D3-9094-00104BD0D535}\ProgID.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.*****
What should I do now? Do I need to do something about the "permissions" for this key?
    Thanks to anyone with advice...

  • Problems installing Adobe Reader

    Hi,
I need some help installing Adobe Reader. First a little history.
I run Windows 7 and Internet Explorer.
I had Adobe Reader installed on my system and it was working fine.
Several days ago I had problems opening any Windows Office program after viewing a PDF file. I would have to restart my computer to get Office programs to run. During the re-start windows had to force AcroRd32.exe to shut down before it could close. I noticed that there was an updated version of Adobe Reader installed earlier this month and thought this may have cause the problem (I don't look at PDF file very often).
I looked at the forum for a solution and tried to find the file Elu.exe (I believe that is the name but can't remember exactly) and accept the licence as recommended but could not find it on my system.
I then uninstalled Adobe Reader and tried to re-install it. My system gets stuck at the "running security scan" process and never progresses. I then tried to install and earlier version of Adobe Reader and it gets stuck at the same place.
Can anyone help me with this problem? I can supply any missing information if needed.
    Thanks

I just figured out my problem.
I had another program called PDF Creator that must have been interfering. I un-installed it and was able to install Adobe reader. I liked PDF Creator because I could create PDF files for free!
    Thanks anyway

  • Problems in Adobe Reader when I open a pdf file

I have problems in Adobe Reader when I open a pdf file, the menu bar appears blank without options and when I pass the mouse over the bar she disappears. I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader and to no avail. Could anyone help in this case.

That is the old version that causes the problem; you need to update to the latest version (15.0.2.361).

  • Unable to uninstall adobe reader 8.16 on windows xp

I wanted to uninstal adobe reader 8 after finding I could use adobe reader 9, I uninstalled adobe reader and ended up having to restore my system after a server problem with the new software putting adobe 8 back. I tried to uninstall it again after switching off the machine for a while for the serer to recover, I still cant uninstall 8 even after installing adobe reader 9.

I tried on the day to navigate the adobe site on dial up, adobe should cater to people on a budget if they are going to service us with a free reader. Personally I would prefer another program to decode a pdf document that does just that - without all the other stuff I will never use. Today I found I may be able to uninstall adobe 8 by running kb404307, I couldn't even find a download page for the fix. Once again I got frustrated with my pc and adobe.

  • Uninstalled Adobe Reader 11.0.0

    For Adobe
I have an iMac with OS 10.8.5 and I'm using Safari web browser. After I had INSTALLED Adobe Reader 11.0.0 I have experienced problems on several web sites where either side can not be displayed or may not be printed. Since I also have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and use it without problems on another iMac I decided to uninstalled Adobe Reader 11.0.0. I have moved it to the trash. I have emptied the trash and I have restarted the iMac. I've set Acrobat 9 Pro to be the program to use when loading web sites and I have reset Safari. Nevertheless, getting the message Adobe Reader blocked on this site.
When I go into Safarie, settings, security, manage site settings appears Adobe Reader 11.0.0 still in the list of Internet accessories.
I think that there still must be something on my iMac? How do I get it thrown out?

    Try this:
    Go to Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Locate the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files.
Copy them to a flash drive or other removable media, and remove that media so it cannot be accessed by OS X.
Trash the original files from that folder.
    Empty the trash.
Relaunch Safari and see if it helps with PDFs.
Open Acrobat 9 and see if it still works as it did.
IF both work, you can "dump" the plugins from the removable media.
