Problem uninstalling SDK 5.0

When trying to uninstall Java SDK 5.0, I get the following error message (translated from Swedish "Ogiltig enhet: X:\").
"Invalid unit: X:\"
I really have to uninstall this SDK since it affects other installations that use Java too. What can I do to successfully uninstall SDK 5.0?

I was wondering if anyone else was having problems uninstalling Acrobat 9 Pro. I run an IT department and have tried everything that can think of to get the thing uninstalled. Nothing's working, it continuously comes up with errors saying that it can't uninstall, that there is already a newer version of Acrobat installed, or some other random errors. The computer is an "extra"computer, and the cd key for Acrobat 9 Pro is now installed on another machine. All I want to do is take Acrobat 9 off and reinstall Acrobat 8.

Deactivate before uninstalling (unless this is a volume license). Then use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool.

Problem Uninstalling Dreamweaver

I'm having a problem uninstalling Dreamweaver. When I try uninstalling it, it starts uninstalling it and then it just crashes. If I attempt to reinstall it to uninstall it, then it's stuck on "Preparing Files".
Any ideas?

Uninstalling SDK 1.4.0

Hi, I had install SDK 1.4.0 but find that some of my program cannot work with it, so I re-install/overwrite it with JDK 1.3.1, but my program still use the path of my SDK 1.4.0, I had re-install both the program and JDK 1.3.1 a few times already. I am using RedHat Linux, the program is Java CoG. It seem like version 0.9.12 of CoG cannot work with SDK 1.4.0. Please tell me how to uninstall SDK 1.4.0 and it's runtime environment. Thank you.

BTW, I am using RedHat Linux 7.1. And I am also using the following software. Globus 2.0 beta, JDK 1.3.1, SDK 1.4.0. Thank.

Having problems uninstalling and running Photoshop CS3

In reference to Lynley Stanley, I too am having the exact problem. I downloaded as for my class of Animation and Visual Effects at the Academy of Art University while waiting for my software to come in the mail from Academic Superstore. I am so frustrated about this that such an issue has caused so much madness. In the process of trying to remove Adobe Photoshop CS3 from my Windows Vista I was searching for info on how to uninstall as I was in a hurry to uninstall the program because my 4th week into class started using the program as students are expected to follow along having their own for assignments. Well, now I'm behind and I don't want to fail because of something that is causing the problem as I'd like to call intentional. In the process of trying to figure a way to uninstall fast as not to fall behind and fail in class I downloaded Perfect Uninstaller but I don't know how it will work. Now in reference of trying to quickly uninstall just to keep up with class, that will not be possible, so now I had to take time to look online knowing I'm falling more and more behind because of this difficult matter I finally found this and hopefully I'll be going somewhere as to have the problem corrected. Problem uninstalling CS4 after installing CS5 - help!

I installed CS5 without a hitch.
I then tried to uninstall CS4. I opened Photoshop and chose Help/Deactivate, taking care to tick the serial number box too.
After the uninstall procedure, I got an message that it had completed but with errors.
In Control Panel/Programs, CS4 is still listed, but now showing only 3.77Mb instead of the 300Mb+ that it was.
I then downloaded Adobe Support Advisor and ran it. The diagnosis directed me to this Knowledge Base Article.......

...but then you probably obeyed the correct order in the first place. Anyway, there is no harm in leaving the remnants in place. you can of course make them disappear by removing the relevant registry key(s), but how important that little cosmetic surgery is to you, is for you to decide.

Problems uninstalling SCVMM 2012 RC

I'm currently trying to uninstall the SCVMM 2012 RC, but before I pass the page Retain/Delete DB, the wizard dies, I've check the log SetupWizard.log, and it shows this error.
09:20:10:Uncaught Exception: Threw Exception.Type: Microsoft.VirtualManager.Utils.CarmineException, Exception.Message: VMM cannot access registry key value MachineName under Software\Microsoft\Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager Server\Settings\Sql.
Verify that the registry key value exists, and then try the operation again.

Uninstalling SDK SE v1.4.2

I had two versions (1.3, 1.4.2) of SDKs. I am uninstalling both to do a clean install of 1.4.2 on my Windows XP SP2.
1.4.3 got uninstalled successfully but when uninsalling 1.4.2 installer stops responding after sometime.
The window shows "Preparing to remove... gathering required information". The progress bar is over 90% complete and stays there. After an hour I get message that this program is not responding. I waited 4 hours or so to see if unistallation fininshes, rebooted my machine and tried again, disabled the firewall and Norton Antivirus but nothing seems to work.
Please help!

Thank you! It worked. I installed 1.4.2.8_2 and unstalled it. After that I tried to uninstall the old one (1.4.8) and it uninsalled without any problem. Funny!

Installation Problem - Java SDK 1.4.1

I have a problem with installing Java on my machine at home that you may be able to help me with.
Here are the Details: 1) I installed the most recent java SDK on my machine. 2) I set the Autoexec file with the correct PATH statement. 3) Set the correct CLASSPATH statement 4) The "Java -Version" statement gives the correct reply that it is version 1.4.

Problem: Trying to compile a simple "HelloWorld" Program with "javac Helloworld.java" produces the error "Bad Command or File name".
Issues: Command Line in Windows ME requires 8.3 format. Inserts tilde "~" and a number into the names of the files. even using a short name such as "HelWrld.java" inserts a tilde because of the "java" extension. Have tried using a "jav" extension but that does not work as the error is the same.
Question: How can I get rid of the "Bad Command or File Name"?

My First Java Progam (for Windows with Java 2 SDK v1.4.1)
Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
1. Download and install the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition. You can find it here:

Select the download for your operating system and be sure to download the SDK (rightmost column) and not the JRE. (The JRE is only the Java Runtime Environment, which does not include the Java compiler and other tools needed for software development).
2. Read the README and installation instructions! Read these instead of asking questions about installation etc. in the Java forums.

Things to note:

4. Open a command prompt and go to the directory that contains the file "HelloWorld.java" (with the CD command).
5. Compile the progam with the following command:
javac HelloWorld.java
Things to note:
- If you get something like "Unknown command: javac" or "Bad command or filename", you did not (correctly) add the bin directory of the SDK to the PATH (see step 2).
6. Run the program. If you didn't get any compile errors, you now have a new file "HelloWorld.class" in the same directory. Run the program with the following command:
java HelloWorld
Things to note:
- If you get: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld/class", you have typed "java HelloWorld.class". Leave off the ".class" at the end. You are typing a class name here, not a filename.
- If you get something like: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloworld (wrong name: HelloWorld)", you have typed the class name wrong. Note that the case is important (i.e., don't type "helloworld" but "HelloWorld")!
- You don't need to set any classpath here. In Java 1.4, the current directory is included in the classpath automatically. For older versions of Java, you may need to add the current directory (".") to the classpath, like this:
java -classpath . HelloWorld

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 & Photoshop Elements 11 Errors, Downloading Problems, Uninstalling probs

On May 8, 2013 I ordered Adobe Premiere Elements 11 & Photoshop Elements 11. To this day they do not work properly, did not download properly, nor can I get them uninstalled properly to reinstall properly. I have not been able to contact Adobe all these months, & now they tell me I have to pay $39.00 more just to speak to them. I refuse to give them anymore money than I have already gave them! Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue? I currently have Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 & Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0. I was upgrading.

When I purchased Elements & Premiere 11, I purchased a 1 time download from Adobe. Upgrading from 7.0. When I went to download it, then install it, it told me that through an error message, that it was not downloaded or installed correctly, so I would have to uninstall the whole thing & start from scratch, basically. So, I went into the control panel to delete the program. Hit uninstall, & it told me after it was done, that everything was not uninstalled & had uninstalled incorrectly. Now it was missing from the Control Panel, & I could not find the remains anywhere, I thought I would try to redownload it again. So, going through the process, it would let me download it, but it would not install due to the remains of the previous installation. I tried everything. And when I tried to go straight to Adobe, it was a no go. I put it on the back burner for months & used my 7.0 occassionally. Today I decided I wanted it fixed. I went to Adobe...my licenses are still in my account. But no matter what I did, it would not accept my old licenses. With the help of a previous poster, maybe on a different thread, I was able to uninstall the old program remnants. But I could still not download 11. I just decided to cut my loses, & purchased 12. I bought the trials, downloaded them, they worked great, & I purchased them. So, all's well that ends well. Of course, I am $170-some dollars in the hole, but whatever it takes. Again thank you for your reply to my delima.

Problem uninstalling Acrobat Reader 9.0

I upgraded to Acrobat Reader 9.0 a while ago but due to internet access I believe the upgrade did not complete properly and now I am left with a corrupt install of Acrobat Reader. I tried to remove it using Add or Remove Programs but it says that this is not a valid Windows package. I tried to remove the Adobe folder from C:\Program Files and removed it finally but now I cannot download the latest Acrobat reader using Adobe Download Manager.
So basically how can i clean my system of any existing Adobe Reader files so that I can do a clean install?

You may be able to use the MS cleanup utility to fix the registry problems. Other than that, you might just try to reinstall it and the uninstall again. For further questions about Reader, ask in the Reader forum. The product is called Adobe Reader, NOT Acrobat Reader. This latter name has been gone for about 4 versions, to avoid the confusion I assume. Acrobat is the full product at a cost.

Problems uninstalling Forte for java 4 community edition

I just installed Forte for java 4 community edition at work, and when i tried to uninstalled it with add/remove programs from control panel. And the uninstall wizard start but then a Sun window apper and it is written, uninstalling and the uninstall program seems to be frozen.

Problem Uninstalling Flash CS4

I have downloaded the trial version of Flash CS4. When I try to uninstall it an error message appears saying that I have Adobe Bridge open, which I don't. I restarted my computer, tried Uninstalling it again and the same problem occured. What can I do to fix this and uninstall the program?

Problem Uninstalling JRE 1.4.2_01

Hi, i am having problems silently uninstalling JRE 1.4.2_01 on windows XP wonder if anyone can help, When running the silent uninstall command....... j2re-1_4_2_01-windows-i586.exe /s /v "/qn REBOOT=Suppress" /x......nothing happens.
I am trying to update the JRE from Build_05 to Build_28 of 1.4.2_01 for development reasons. I have tried overwritting the current installation using silent install and pointing the INSTALLLDIR to the existing one but get error " Incorrent Command line parameters" when running the silent install. Works fine when doing the install normally via the wizard but not using the silent commands.
Any help is much appreciated.

Two things: Is there a document detailing manual removal of this JRE (and indeed others); you mention different 'builds' of the same JRE, this is the first time I have read that there are sub-versions/releases of a JRE. Where do I find out the available builds of this JRE and others and how they differ?
