I want to give a Nokia software update available but says version is V50. Why do I look like. If I want to give updates on the phone sw update the application so I want to give out .if i update with * # 0000 * error. Please help .sorry for my bad english

As you posted elsewhere this device is a product code 0577189: RM-356 Vodafone Romania RO Red V1 - MR which network provider no longer supports, since as no longer marketed there is no incentive to do so.

Problem updating Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Hello,
First excuse me for my bad English.
I have just updated my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with the USB cable and plugged into the mains. At the end of the update, a window told me that I could unplug my phone and nothing more since it does not turn over: just a vibration but no screen display. I removed the battery and did another test and still nothing. Is there a solution or should I return it to the VAS.

Hi, Did the phone complete the hard reset? I.e. after the phone is completely started up, it prompts for a country selection? To do the reset, the phone must be turned off first, then hold the relative buttons together / simultaneously while turning on, until prompted for the country selection.
If you managed to complete the hard reset, and your problem is still occurring, then please keep me updated as to how you resolved it, just incase I need to also try it

1. music player have too much problem and player hang too much,too much ,too much.and earased playlist and all songs in playlist and from music player then i should earase songs from my phone then retransfer to phone
2.music player sometimes hang at the end of song and I should restart my phone!!!
3.Oh INTERNET!often when I work with internet and click above a link phone hanging and restart browser and I huffy!!!
4.messageing has not recently use numbers and I should alwayes add my numbers from contacts but nokia java mobiles in part of "To" has recently used numbers shortcut!!!
5.when dialling a number and failed,I should heare the error trump for 7 second and don,t disconnect with any key!!!!
6.after i update my GPS some of entertainments isn,t in new version, such as take photo from map nad altimeter and ...!!!
7.photo camera has not sound off or intercept the voice!!!

9. The setting to get 16:9 ratio is yes, software, but you also have to consider the sensor hardware. The sensor hardware is able to receive light in the same ratio as the pictures, and not in 16:9 ratio. Hardware cannot be adjusted. You yourself said you work with an SLR camera, and if you look through the viewfinder, you see that the camera lens sees the view in a "square" ratio as well like the phone. Creating software to render a picture in 16:9 ratio is just simply creating software that cuts off the reception of light in the top and bottom part of the picture so as to create a 16:9 effect. Meaning the camera is not utilizing the full 3.2 megapixels of the phone, and the result is just the same as getting the picture you took and editing it on your PC to show a 16:9 ratio.

Problem trying to update nokia 5800

My problem is when i try to update my nokia 5800 with the nokia software updater it says my current firmware is version 31.0.101, update version is also 31.0.101. I know there is a new version available,can anyone help me out please.

few days ago i saw that new firmware update available( v40.0.005) is available for nokia 5800
i have its v30 firmware version and i am unable get any kind of updates while i checked that new version of firmware is available in India. my product code is :0575590
i want change my firmware it has got frequent hanging problem....

Overall the phone is good with this firmware u can look around on these boards for the bugs people encountered with it so far. No hangs and crashes so far but i cant vouch for it.

i update my nokia 5800 software using ovi suite
my current version is 50.0.005, and im updating it to 51.0.006
but in the last step of the updates it says
"internal error"
"most probably there is non-commercial software in your device"

You may un-install the anti-virus as you really do not need it on Nokia 5800..

New firmware update for nokia 5800 is available for India. We are able to update it through Pc suit software update but nokia care is saying that no such official update is available. Lots of people already upgraded to new version and they are facing many problems. 1. Same is the case. However, this is not a problem and digitally locked files are supposed to work this way. The solution would be to visit the nearest Nokia care center and have this unlocked, or wait hoping that Nokia would release OTA unlocking similar to N95

Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately you will need to visit Nokia Care Point for "language pack" to be installed; this appears to have been done previously with earlier firmware on your 5800XM, but unfortunately software update servers deliver firmware appropriate to the seven digit product code on label below battery which appears to be from a different region. Bear in mind on a pre-owned device that actual product code recorded electronically might not tally with the one on label.

Update Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software

Hello,
I update my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic through Nokia Suite on my personal computer.
Step 1. Get Started and Step 2. Back up was successfully done. On Step 3. Install, I follow the instructions. Then my phone screen turns white. Then the logo of Nokia and its version was displayed on the screen. Then it shut-down/turned OFF by itself. A message on my Nokia Suite(on my PC) says "Your phone is restarting" and an instructions below says "Take a look at your phone. If it asks you for your PIN code, time and date, or your Nokia account details, type them on your phone. You may also need to choose the Nokia Suite (or Nokia Ovi Suite, or PC Suite) USB mode on your phone. Then wait for the installation to continue.".. So I wait. Then a follow up message show that says "If your phone does not restart, remove and re-insert the battery, charger, and the USB cable. Then switch the phone on.".
So I follow the instruction. I removed and re-insert the battery, charger, and the usb cable. Then I switch the phone on. BUT the problem is.. it doesn't turn ON. Still off. When I long-press the POWER button, it vibrates but it doesn't continue to turn ON. I hear continues pop-up sound on my PC when the USB cable was connected. But still nothing happens.
Your immediate advice is highly appreciated on this matter. Thanks in advance.

Updating Nokia 5800 XM Prob

I tried to upgrade my 5800 OTA, it started downloading but when it reached the middle it stopped and reported
"network unavailable." though i could use Fringe, so it wasn't problem with my connection, I thought it was something to do with Nokia's Server.
I tried again and now it shows "No Update Available" , though just a minute ago it shouwed, I hard Reset my phone and what not but it just doesn't show the update. any ideas ?? it sucks..

I have to disagree strongly on that!
Upgrading your phone via OTA is the easiest and safest way to upgrade your device there can be...
Go to Menu --> Settings --> Phone --> Phone mgmt. --> Device update --> Options --> Check for updates
You´ll need a WiFi or any other full internet access point to make it work! And your battery should be at least 3/4 full or connected to the charger.
The advantage of this is that the "data preservation" won´t wipe your phone and you don´t have to set it up again...

Updating Nokia 5800

My problem is fairly simple. Try to update my nokia 5800 with the pc nokia software updater, within the first couple of minutes, the pc says my phone is disconnect and then the pc suit says failure to update phone please reconnect it when i havnt touched it? Tried OTA but doesnt find update yet, Any suggestions?

I do not work for nokia but I do know how firmware updates work for branded models. I agree with everything grschinon wrote above.
Between orange and nokia you are being given incorrect information. The people on orange and nokia's support lines are just script readers that often have very little real knowledge about a problem. Thats to be expected for orange but it is disappointing that nokia care often act in the same way.
When nokia creates a new firmware they pass it to the networks before it's even released to owners of generic non-network models. After testing nokia then releases it for the generic models then as the networks approve the update it gets released for them too. The quicker a network approves the firmware the quicker nokia makes it available on it's updater. As an example vodafone UK were quick to approve the update and it is available through nokia's updater.
Nokia can never force the networks to approve new firmware so some networks get away with never releasing any updates. In the past few years orange UK have been amongst the slowest often not bothering at all.
Your situation isn't unusual or unique it has been happening for years and it's well known that the networks are the cause of this problem. Orange is the cause and sadly there is nothing that you can do about it other than to vote with your feet. Hopefully one day the networks will just allow nokia to release updates when nokia wants to, not when the networks allow them to.

I've got problems with updating my fabulous Nokia 5800 Xpress Music! Well, I've got still installed 31.0.101 firmware version. So I wanted to update my phone to "41" or latest versions, but nothning happens! I run my "Nokia software update" and it says that "there is no update available" or "your phone is already up to date"! Thing is the same if I press all know function *#0000# and try to update there. Also the same in Nokia PC Suite...
So, Nokia fans and employees, please help me with some tricks, that I can improve performance of my Nokia... Thanks a lot!

Reasons why a phone cannot update:
1. It is a country variant - country variants often get the updates later, or have updates skipped altogether. A Turkish country variant product code for example, skipped v40 and updated from v31 straight to v50.
2. It is network branded - phones acquired from network providers or these providers' stores SIM free are branded, and will not get updates until the networks approve and modify the updates to their liking.
3. Special editions - These special editions are chartered editions and may never get updates unless taken to a Nokia Care center.

Cannot Update Nokia 5800 Firmware

I own a nokia 5800 on t-mobile UK. I'm on a mac so cannot use the device update software. I entered *#0000# and tried to update it. However I got asked to create a new server profile. I read some 'default' nokia server settings on another forum and entered them but received a message saying server not responding. I've tried some other server settings I found but none of it works. I really would like to update it! Help me please!

You could take it to a Nokia Care Center and they'll update it for you. Problem free for you. =p
