Problem updating Acrobat X

I am having problems updating Acrobat X on Windows 7.  Everytime an update runs there is a 1310 or 1321 error.  Despite repeatedly changing UAC permissions for the files indicated in the errors the errors continue.  My first issue was printing problems, which I have worked around, now I can't update, which supposedly will solve the printing issues.  I am running the update as the administrator, have tried removing and reinstalling and am getting very frustrated.  Any suggestions?

Failure to update via the online process is USUALLY caused by 1 of 2 things
1-firewall or antivirus settings
2-windows security settings
The USUAL fix is to manually download the files and run the updates outside of the Internet
All Adobe updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative

  • Problems updating Acrobat Pro X to 10.1.0

I tried to update my Windows Acrobat Pro X (from 10.0.3 to 10.1.0) and have been getting some questionable behavior (hard to categorize for these general ones). However, what I did notice specifically is when performed the update (Have done it a couple of times hoping to "repair" the fix), I get an "Error 1328: Error applying patch to file C:\Config.msi\PT56C.tmp....". I selected "Ignore" (which may have been my mistake) and allowed the update to continue. Now, "Tools\Delete page" no longer works (what I've discovered so far) and I get an unpredictable crash/debug session that comes up (using MS Visual Studio).
I've read so far that the only way to eliminate this update is to "start all over" (Didn't see anything on this forum).
Any one else experience this and is there a better fix for it?
      Thanks and cheers....Steph

    John,
    Thanks for the fast reply.
I downloaded the update directly from the Adobe website and installed it locally. I also disabled AVG to make sure security did not get in the way. I am running WinXP SP3.
As I mentioned, tried a couple of times. Same error 1328 result and ensuing problems with Acrobat. Just to be sure, Acrobat was working great before I installed this update   I wish I could roll back the update and get Acrobat back to how it was....

  • Problem updating Acrobat 8.0 on Mac

I have Acrobat 8.0 on mac running 10.6.7.  When I try to update acrobat the updater says this
Also I tried to uninstall Acrobat and the uninstaller has an X on it and is not available.
This is all in an attempt to update Acrobat 8.0.0 to hopefully allow scanning with HP scanner.
I recently upgraded to 10.6..7 on the mac and now acrobat does not communicate with scanner.
    Any help would be great.

Have you tried following the path and deleting the offending file? Then Repair Permissions, restart your computer and try the update again.

  • Problems updating Acrobat 6.0 (from CS Premium package)

    Hi -
I installed Adobe Acrobat 6.0 as part of a CS install.
But when I try to update it (6.0) I get to the point when it says something like "insert disk 1 Adobe Acrobat" and is looking for an AcroPro.msi file.
I don't have this file - I have an exe file that installed Adobe Acrobat 6.0.
So what can I do to make get these updates to work? I'm sitting here with the disks for Adobe Creative Suite Premium and CANNOT update the darn Acrobat.
What do I need to to - I've searched all over the internet and these forums and can't find anything .
    Please help!!

I don't know about within CS. However, with older versions it is often best to download the updates from Adobe (the Download>Updates site) and do the updates locally. Also, you must do them in order, unless it says otherwise.

  • Error 2503 when updating Acrobat

I am attempting to update my Acrobat and i encounter "Error 2503 called RunScript when not marked in progress".  I am operating in Windows 8 and do not know whether this is a function of the operating system.  I had the same problem updating Acrobat Reader.

This is apparently a Windows issue (see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/error-2503 -called-runscript-when-not-marked-in/76e72d98-cbef-432f-8f6f-40417d139bc1). When doing updates you should be logged in as the adminstrator and have anti-virus disabled. It may also be an issue with AA9 on a Win 8 system, particularly if 64-bit. You may have to run AA9 in a compatibility mode. When updates fail from within Acrobat, it is time to try downloading the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and installing the updates in order (generally updates are not cummulative in Acrobat).

  • Problem updating from Acrobat 10.1.10 to 11. Error 1001, and am told to connect to update server. When I activated the installer, message said Install failed, contact manufacturer for assistance, so I am.

I am using a 2011 MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.9.5.  Have been using Acrobat 10.1.10, but got a pop-up notice from Adobe today, saying that it had been awhile since last logged on and my software was due for an update. However, after downloading the update Acrobat 11, the updater seems to be unable to FIND the file to update, so it asks me to select the file to update. When I found it, the file icon was grayed out, and wouldn't allow me to select it. Gave me a message for "Error 1001". I'm an experienced Mac user, but not a programmer, so I don't know what that means. When I tried to run the installer from the downloaded file, it stopped, saying "Installation Failed" due to encountering an error—which was NOT named or numbered—and that I should contact the manufacturer for assistance. Which I am ATTEMPTING to do, but it appears to be impossible to actually get direct help.
Suggestions, or better yet, direct answers, would be appreciated.

Did you ever figure out the problem? "Contact Software Manufacturer"?? That sounds ominous... I've got the same issue and I'm pretty durn aggravated right about now....
    Thanks!

  • Problem with Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1 update (multiple installs)

I updated my Acrobat X Pro to version 10.1.1 when first notified of the update. Since then I have been constantly bombarded with new updates are ready to install from the auto update downloader. I was fooled the first time when it re-installed the 10.1.1 update. In all I've now installed this same update at least 4 times trying to get rid of the update messages, but I'm still getting bombared with them. Something is wrong with this last update. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone know how to stop this insanity? When I manually check for updates in Acrobat, it also says there are updates available. Thanks.

Are you sure that Updater is trying to update Acrobat? What is the title of the Updater dialog?
Do you have Reader installed? There is an issue with Updater where on the systems with 2 Readers of the same major versions, User gets prompted to update again.
If you have 10.0.x Reader and 10.1.x Reader, you might be it.
The fix is to uninstall all Readers and install latest one - should take about 20 minutes.
If that does not help, search Forums for AdobeARM.exe and how to enable verbose logging for updater, than check for updates and provide AdobeARM.log file - I'll try to see what is wrong.
    Good luck.

  • In 2014, Since I upgraded my OS to Win 7, everytime I update Acrobat X Standard I get and error.  The problem seems to be with permissions for folders is there a permanent fix??

Is there any indication of the specific folder you are having problems with. Are you logged in as the administrator (or the same as when you installed) and have anti-virus disabled during the update? You might also try the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows.

  • After Latest Update, Acrobat no longer works

Yesterday the Adobe updater came up saying that there were some updates to install. After installing the updates, Acrobat now comes up with a Fatal Error. It said something to the effect Acrobat failed to load its core dll file and I also got an error saying:
    acrodist.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000022). Click OK to terminate the application.
    Here is my setup:
Design Premium CS4 with Acrobat 9 Pro
    Windows Vista Ultimate
I tried running a repair re-install and that didn't work. Still get the same error. If someone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

I was giong to say, "Help me, Adobe Joe Kenobi", but it looks like you're growing a beard waiting for an answer, too.
The same thing happened to me today. I trusted the "update" message since it was from Adobe, and apprently did so at my own peril. Now I get the "failed to load Core dll" message with a secondary reference to a memory address.
Just an observation, but what good are these forums when there are no answers? I see this problem as "Caused by Adobe Update", and would expect them to troublshoot and offer up a remedy. Since you've been waiting over two months with no response, I suppose it's time to trek off wasting more of my precious time to fix their problem. If I find the solution, I'll post it back to you.
May the Force be with you.

  • Printing Problems with Acrobat 9.5.1?

I recently installed the update - Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 (Mac). Now I am having problems printing pdf files.
I re-installed printer drivers and printer software a couple of times. Got a file to print this morning and now nothing will print again.
These upgrades are more trouble than they are worth. What a waste of my time and time is money when you run your own business.
I've found no help online for this issue.

    The printer.
iPhoto is still active and I can do other things with it. The job has been sent tothe printer so I guess it's the printer where the problme lies, or the communication between the Mac and the printer (which is wireless, though that shouldn't make a difference).

You're asking a lot of ancient Acrobat to work with an Office that never existed when it was made. "Just updated my office suite" is a massive change, and Window 8 didn't exist at that time either...

  • Error 1310 when trying to update Acrobat X Pro?

I keep getting error 1310 when I try to update Acrobat X Error writing to file C:\config.ms.\2c20c8I.rbf. Verify you have access to that file.
Windows Vista  computer. I am signed on as an administrator with full access. A while back, I was having the same issue with the Master Suite CC and an Adobe Tech had me try many things with no success. Finally all other updates have installed except this one. The tech worked with me and verified the file was ther and was set up tp be accessable. Still no luck. Any ideas, anyone?

Yes, I checked the file location. It is there and I supposedly have access to it. I went thru this all with an Adobe tech in the past when none of the other Cloud apps would update. Now the only update left is Acrobat x Pro which still gives me the same message. Please note again that I have been getting this message in the past and the message is a common one if you google it and look at all the responses. This is not just my problem!

  • Cannot update Acrobat 8.0

    Hi.
I have a problem.  I have installed Adobe CS3 Design Premium on my computer.
(Windows XP SP3, 4GB Ram,250GB HD with 205 free space, Intel Core 2 6600 CPU)
I cannot install the updates for Acrobat.  Everything else updated.  I had a corrupt profile, which may have caused some errors, so I uninstalled and reinstalled CS3 on my current good profile.  Still I cannot update Acrobat 8.0 Professional.  Acrobat Reader is not installed.
I get bootstrapper errors when I do the update process within Acrobat:
(Adobe BootStrapper for chaining multiple patches. has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.)
I tried the .msp files, but they are not recognized by Windows.  (This patch package could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package).  I have tried the sequential steps and they don't work.  Starting with the first msp file (AcrobatUpd810_efgj_incr.msp)
When I go into Help, About Adobe Acrobat Professional, I get Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
    Can anybody help?

Did you go to the update page and manually download/install the updates?
