Problem updating firefox with old avg virus protector

i have tried to update to your newer version of firefox ( excisting one running fine ) but when i try to i get a warning saying will not run without deleting my avg protection and is not compatable ( this being an older version too as i run on windows 2000 professional. my computer is old . the way i read the message is that updating will cancel out my avg and i will then have to find another protector ??? .
can i run on the older firefox and will it keep in excistance??

Adobe Flash Update infected Firefox with tons of viruses. Help!

I got with one of those annoying fake Adobe Flash Updates, and unfortunately fell for it and installed it, which has infected Firefox (and Chrome, and IE, for that matter) with tons of viruses that I CANNOT get rid of. I'm on a Windows 7 PC.
Basically, what they do:
- Adds "Enhanced Text" everywhere (text is underlined and leads to an ad)
- Adds unwanted banners on sites
- Frequent pop-ups
- Redirects my searches (Google is essentially unusable)
- Can't log-in to certain sites (eBay)
The last two are really killing me and making the internet very hard to enjoy. I've run Malwarebytes several times (first a quick scan, then a full scan), as well as TDSSKiller. Both detected malware and deleted them, but nothing changed. As per the internet's advice, I've tried disabling all my extensions/plug-ins, but doing that didn't help either - many reference specific extensions that cause these problems, like "CCodec" or "ghostery" but nothing like that appears in my add-ons menu. I went into Programs and Features and uninstalled anything suspicious-looking (which somehow lead to half that list disappearing? All my programs are still there, but for whatever reason that list shortened significantly), and still nothing.
I'm really at a loss here. None of my browsers are working properly and nothing I do seems to help.

Looks like you need to be locked and loaded for a virus to come, or just avoid it.
Can you try those scans in safe mode? Safe mode likely will prevent the malware from running at all during the safe mode session.

Firefox update incompatible with add-on virus protections. Why?

I keep getting windows popping up telling me to download a Firefox update but it then tells me that a couple of virus protecting add-ons are not compatible and will be disabled. Why would I want that to happen? I exit the update request window but it keeps showing up again later or another day. How do I stop it?

Such Problems because of add-on Compatibility. when they are made ,they fall in category of such supporting version. If they are not compitable then find there updated version or choose alternate of that.

Safari worked better so I used Safari. I used a new e-mail address. This has been working well. Now I must reconnect with Firefox so that I can open some special documents within the next couple of weeks. Helper at FedConnect suggested that I restart Firefox .com which I did, not knowing that I was not patient enough and actually atarted to restart both 3.6 and Beta
several times. I erased all but one of Beta but I account get rid of the first Firefox and the old address. I do not remember what
my USER NAME or Password were. Is this my new e-mail address, it does not seem to wrk. I have tried to work both get a

I am having problems using Firefox with Ebay in the last 10 days. The advanced search link is dropping off the page and there is no way to access it now.

I have been using Firefox and Ebay for at least 12 years with no problems whatsoever. But in the last 10 days I have been having trouble with the Advanced Search link disappearing from the page on Ebay. If I do a search from the Ebay home page it will show the results, but the Advanced Search link (in blue letters) which always used to appear to the right of the Search button is gone. If I click Search again at this point I can see the Advanced Search link appear for a millisecond, but then disappear just as quickly. Also, if I refresh the page the same thing happens. I tried to duplicate this problem with Internment Explorer and it didn't occur, so it appears to be Firefox that is causing this issue. Of course when I contacted Ebay they told me my problem was that I wasn't using Internment Explorer! I love Firefox and do not want to switch!

You can try to clear the cache and cookies to see if that makes a difference:

Since I updated Firefox with the current version 10.0, my browser now scrolls 3 lines instead of 1 with my down arrow. Is there a fix for this?

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, kept updated to current, and Firefox 10.0 updated to current version. When I applied this new update, the browser started scrolling 3 lines instead of 1 when I hit the down arrow. Please advise if there is a fix in the works for this problem. Thanks.

That seems to be a change in Firefox 10 and later.<br />
I've seen more posts about this new "feature, but I don't know of a way to revert it to one line.
Firefox 10 has changed to scroll amount for the keyboard navigation UP and DOWN keys to 3 lines.
You can set the scroll amount for the mouse wheel via mousewheel prefs on the about:config page, but you can't do that for the keyboard navigation keys.

There are extension that work both for the mouse and the keyboard to set the scroll amount, but they can only be set to scroll an amount of pixels and not to scroll one line regardless of font-size (height) of the text.

I created a view with instead-of triggers for updating. When I try to update the view with an ADO 2.7 recordset I receive errormessages.

I had the same problem but without triggers. I only changed some values in different records (always automatically commited) and after the third change I got this error message. At the same time I was connected with TOAD to the databse and there was no problem to change the data - so it doesn't look like a database problem.

Problems updating panel with remove() and add()

Hi,
I have a class which extends JPanel, and everytime I call repaint on it I am trying to add the contents of a Hashtable to the screen. If I do not include the this.removeAll() then it will add those components to the Container...problem is that it will add them everytime so I will have multiple copies of the same thing. If I try and remove them first (notice how I put a boolean in so that I dont remove them before they are added) before adding them (so clear the screen), then they will never appear, no matter where I put the removeAll() or where i put the add(). Same applies for a remove() statement on each individual component.
I have spent hours on this stupid thing !
Any ideas would be much appreciated

Sometimes I will have two things in the hashTable, sometimes I will have one hundred !
Each time repaint() is called I want this to represent the current status of the Hashtable, so If on one repaint there are 100 pairs in the Hashtable it will add all the details of these pairs to the Container, however on the next repaint if there are only two pairs I dont want the other 98 entries on the page at all. You cant do this with just a component modifier, you have to remove the component completely. I figured that the easiest way to do this would be just to remove all the components completely, and then add what was needed by going through the Hashtable again. (note:effiecency is not a concern)
And yes I realise repaint() is called on resizes etc etc, but this wont adversely affect the program

Problem updating RH8 with Windows 7

I've been using RH8 with XP, but I got a new Windows 7 machine last week so I had to do a fresh install of RH8. I got through the install with no problems and the un-updated version of RH seems to work OK, but I need to apply both the 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 updates.
I attempted to run the install for 8.0.1 from the Adobe installer and though it seemed to go too fast, I received a message that the install was finished. However, when I tried to install 8.0.2, it said that I had to install 8.0.1 first, so apparently that install hadn't worked after all.
I downloaded 8.0.1 directly from the Adobe support center and tried to install it that way, but it dies directly after choosing the install language (English). I've restarted several times, restored the computer to a point before my first attempt in hopes of getting a clean try, etc. All to no avail.
I typically use RoboHelp HTML and the unpatched version is working, but I really need the 8.0.2 patch because I'm concerned about the integrity of the links and folders as the project grows. I'm at my wits end as far as what to do next (reinstall the whole thing?).
I would really appreciate any suggestions as to what to try next.

Hi Peter, I'll file your RevoUninstaller tip for next time...and I hope all is well on that side of the pond!
My problem appears to be with the semantics of the installer.
When ran the 8.0.1 updater, I was presented with a dialog that only allowed me to remove program and all related components. (uncomfortable phrasing, but refers simply to the updater, not RoboHelp itself)
Once I ran the "uninstall" on 8.0.1, I was able to run the "install" successfully.
This was also the case for the 8.0.2 update and the Captivate 5 update
SUGGESTION:
restructure the offending dialog to explain why a user might get the uninstall option, and explain that only the update will be uninstalled.
I'll certainly be writing a blog post and also posting at adobe.com/go/wish!

I have a JTextArea to present the actually status of an running thread. The thread sends strings like: System.out.println("Reading in new message...");to the standardoutput.
The problem is, that my application freezes when it should update the JTextArea. Any idea and what type of actionListener is recommend to use for the JTextArea?

In general, you can't update the Swing stuff from "side" threads. Side threads talk with the Swing event thread by creating Runnable objects which contains the necessary data (in your case, for instance, the JTextArea or its parent panel/window, and the text to append), and then invoking SwingUtilities.invokeLater() to have this object run() method called by the Sing event thread.
