Problem updating firmware WRT54G v5 1.00.1 to 1.02.2

Hi, I've been having an issue updating the firmware of my WRT54G v5 router to 1.02.2 ... the reason is because one of the previous firmwares solves some Bittorrent issues .. Anyway, I checked the tag and it reads v5 .. and the firmware is currently 1.00.1. I downloaded the right .bin file, I presume, which is 1.02.2.. when I choose 'Update Firmware' and select the .BIN file, I see about 1% of the progress bar light up and it immediately switches to a webpage reading 'The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.' which seems to be a default (Firefox) error. Ofcourse, when I re-enter the web interface, it still reads '1.00.1' as current firmware... any ideas?

Ow, never mind... I figured it... tried some more last night but I couldn't even save the Configuration (error which resembles the one described above). Made screenshots of the configuration, then did a hard reset.. then immediately tried the firmware update which succeeed flawlessly. I could also make a Configuration backup again!

  • WRT54G v5- problem updating firmware

alright, so I've been battling with my router a little while now. I've had it for a few months now, and randomly at about 11:30 a few nights ago, it just stopped connecting. I get Limited or No Connectivity whether I am trying to connected wirelessly or hardwired into the router. The only way I can access the internet is being hardwired into the cable modem (standard comcast motorola).
I have tried unplugging the router, doing a hard reset by holding down the cisco button, and restarting all the computers that are having a problem connecting. Nothing. It's still a brick. I think it was actually trying to connect to the wrong IP address, because the properties said nothing about 192.168.1.1
So, I read that there is a manditory firmware upgrade for the WRT54G v5. I went to the download page for the firmware, but it's trying to download a .bin file, rather than a .zip
WHAT? Is that a mistake? I can't do anything with it. Are there any mirror sites that anyone knows of with the .zip file so I can upgrade my firmware?

An update...  I couldn't get the TFTP to work.  However, if you hold the reset button for 30 sec and release, and then open a web browser and go to your ip http://192.168.1.1  It will have a page there for you to browse to your file that you want to upgrade with.  I did this, then held reset button for 30 secs again.  It took a little bit (minute maybe) for the device to fully boot up.  Once it did I could get into the device for configs via http.   You'll know when it's done booting because the orange wireless light will come on and the power light will stop blinking.
    Hope this helps...

  • Updated Firmware WRT54GS V7...Now Router "Not Supported"

Hello all. Just bought a new WRT54GS V7. Set up per instructions and it worked flawlessly. Detected both wireless rigs without a problem, and wired rigs worked. Decided (as I always do) to upgrade the firmware to the latest update. Got the latest .bin file for version 7, etc. Followed update instructions to the letter, including pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. Now, when trying to set up the network again, I get to the point of EasyLink trying to find the router, and I get the message "Router not supported. Easylink Advisor is designed to set up Linksys networking products.....". I re-downloaded the file in case of corruption...three times actually. Repeated the entire process with each. Still same problem. Now, I know that pretty much everything, including this router, says not to update the firmware or bios unless you are having a problem. No, I wasn't having a problem, and I guess for the first time I should have paid attention. Any suggestions/solutions? Thanks in advance.

Disable all firewall first on the computer ..... again download the .bin file from the website ....
Save it on your computer .... access routers setup page & try to upgrade the firmware again ..... make sure that you are picking up the correct file ....
After upgrade reset & reconfigure the router ....

  • If you're having problems updating firmware and have Windows Media Player 11 B

I've seen a number of problems with people updating their firmware with WMP installed and it turns out that's the problem. WMP has a bug in it that will not allow the firmware update to recognize the player. So, here's what to do to roll back to a previous version:
These instructions will only work for Windows XP
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to perform the following procedure.
. Disconnect any portable music or video devices that might be attached to your computer.
    2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    3. In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
    4. Click Windows Media Player , and then click Remove.
If Windows Media Player is not displayed in the list of currently installed programs, then try the following:
. At the top of the list, select the Show updates check box.
    2. In the Windows XP - Software Updates section, click Windows Media Player , and then click Change/Remove.
    5. In each of the two confirmation dialog boxes that appear, click OK.
    6. When the rollback process is complete (it might take several minutes), click Restart.
    7. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    8. In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
    9. Click Windows Media Format Runtime, and then click Remove.
If Windows Media Format Runtime is not displayed in the list of currently installed programs, then try the following:
. At the top of the list, select the Show updates check box.
    2. In the Windows XP - Software Updates section, click Windows Media Format Runtime, and then click Change/Remove.
If you installed a non-US English version of Windows Media Player , the instructions in the dialog boxes that are mentioned in steps 9, 0, and might appear in English.
    0. In the first confirmation dialog box that appears, click OK.
. In the second confirmation dialog box that appears, select the Do you want to continue with the rollback? check box, and then click OK.
    2. When the rollback process is complete (it might take several minutes to complete), click Restart.
    3. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    4. In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
    5. Click Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack .0.0, and then click Remove.
    6. Follow the instructions that appear in the Software Update Removal Wizard.
If the Wudf0000 confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes to continue. When the software removal process is complete (it might take several minutes to complete), click Finish.
If you are still having problems and all else fails, do a System Restore to before WMP was installed.
*Note: If you remove Windows Media Player and the Windows Media Format Runtime, and then encounter error C00D27D ("A problem has occurred in the Digital Rights Management component. Contact Microsoft product support, you might be able to resolve the problem by installing the Windows Media Format 9.5 Runtime. For information about installing the Runtime, in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, see article 8922, "Update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players."
**You might not be able to roll back to a previous version of the Player if the hidden folder $NtUninstallwmp$ is deleted from your computer. Some non-Microsoft programs (such as CCleaner) delete this folder in an attempt to remove unwanted files from your computer.

Some people have found these instructions to be a solution to the "Player Not Connected" Error when trying to update the firmware. (Your mileage may vary)
Note to Mods: This would make a nice sticky

OK. I've been having this problem and have probably read every post there is on the net concerning it. But it doesn't seem to be only a Media Player problem. I was only running Media Player 0 when it happened to me. I found the solution somewhere, I can't remember where, but it worked for me and it was easy.
    Here's what you do:
    . Download BOTH ZenXtra_PCFW_LA__20_08.exe and enXtraP4SAudible_PCFW_LB_2_0_03.exe
    2. Connect the Zen Xtra to your PC.
    3. Run ZenXtra_PCFW_LA__20_08.exe. When the window comes up and says that your device is not connected DON'T do ANYTHING! Just leave it there.
    4. Now run ZenXtraP4SAudible_PCFW_LB_2_0_03.exe
    5. It told me that I already had this version on my device did I still want to load it's I said yes and it went through the whole upgrade and now it works fine.

  • Problems updating firmware on X6-00

Since 2010 I am the owner of a Nokia X6-00.
At first I didn’t have any problems with updating the system-software (firmware), but now I have a serious problem. How come?
Recently I had to give my X6-00 a hard reset (could not add a internet access anymore after a hardware repair). The firmware version on my device is now; V30.0.003 from 2010.
And now I cannot update to the latest version. According to your website for this mobile the latest version of the firmware, is version 40.0.002.
    I have tried to update in 2 different ways;
    -1. -
Directly through the device. By phone management -> Application Updates -> search for application updates.
Then I get the message that there are no updates available (and again, in 2011, before my hard reset, I have installed firmware updates severall times). So, this messsage cannot be wright.
    -2. -
    Via Nokia Suite, version 3.7.22.
My Nokia is connected  to my PC via a USB-cable.
Then Nokia Suite indicates that the installed system software on my Nokia X6 version is V30.0.003 (from 10-28-2010).
If I choose to reinstall the system-software, then that process starts up. There are 4 steps within this proces (according to NokiaSuite, eg create backup, etc.).
However, at the final step-4, I get a message an error occured. I have made a screenshot of this, attached to this mail. This message says that my Nokia X-6-00 is nog connected in the right way to the PC.
But there are no problems with installing / updating mobile apps via Nokia Suite, so the connection cannot be the problem..
I would like to update to the latest version of the system firmware. What to do?
    I appreciate your support.

I agree, Nokia clearly say "Latest software release for Nokia X6-00 is 40.2.002"  but they are not making this widely available for some reason.
My X6 is unlocked and not tied to any service provider and whenever I try to update the firmware the phone and associated software Nokia Ovi suite/Nokia PC Suite etc etc say V32 is the latest!
I am tempted to move away from Nokia if this is not resolved soon as I am looking to upgrade and was considering to buy an unlocked Lumia 920 but if Nokia ignore their users with older models then perhaps I should try an IPhone or Samsung next time as I hear their customer service is excellent!

  • Problem updating firmware using PC Companion

I've been notified that my tablet has a new firmware update "17.1.2.A.0.314" which can only be updated via computer.
But whenever I try to update the firmware using pc companion it is like the program freezes on approxemately one 5th of the progress of the innitialization process.
I usually have the same problem when i try to update my Z1 compact via PC Companion which is why i usually update through the ´phone/tablet it self, but that is hust not possible this time.
I have tryed to look through the forum ang found that the update service was the solution, but this service was shot down the 24th of July. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Hope that someone knows how to fix this.

  • Problems updating firmware

    hi!
I've recently acquired an Airport Express. I tried plugging it in to a network and it's working ok but....
I noticed on Airport utility that it's running version 6 of the firmware and it's recommending upgrading to 6.3. For some reason it won't let me upgrade to 6.3.
I can't alter any settings either. When I request info on the A.E. I get this response:
'Make sure your AirPort wireless device is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6753)'
Obviously it's connected because I'm writing this now using the network!
I just want to be able to update and make sure it's working fine.
    Thanks
    Matt

    Some more information;
I've manually downloaded the 6.3 updater to the macbook and I've tried installing it.
    this is the current repsonse:
'An error occurred while attempting to communicate with the AirPort Express. (-8)'
Does anyone have any help with this?
    Thanks muchly!

  • Problem updating Firmware?

Hello guys, i'm using a Nokia C6 00 phone and i've heard about the v40 update so i tried downloading it. I typed with my keyboard *#0000# then it showed me my firmware version. I tapped on Options > Check for Updates. It loaded saying "Connection", then "Searching for updates" Then it said: Invalid Username or Password and A Dialog box opened. Which username and password do i have to put in? I tried my Ovi and Nokia Account but it didn't work. How do i fix this? thanks

Maybe because it is more difficult to make an update to a Branded Phones. Just check and check your SW until you get it

How can I restore my phone and be able to get the latest official updates from Sony?

  • WAP610N updating firmware problem

    Hello,
I have a problem updating firmware for an WAP610N access point.
The thing is i tryed to update from 1.0.01 to 1.0.03 and the update freezed at 49%. The next day it was restarted but of course it didn't worked again.
The question is can i reset it some how so i can retry the firmware update ?

I want to share something related to updating firmware and I cannot create a new topic so I will add it here.
Today I was reconfiguring my WAP610N, trying to get a little more out of it. I don't have any active b or g devices anymore so I set it to "n only" and walked around the house to see how my connection developed. Not bad at all, I had a fairly good connection all around the house.
Being the tinkerer that I am, never satisfied until I screwed something up, I thought it would be a good idea to look for new firmware. My current version was 1.0.01 and what do you know? There was a brand new 1.0.05 on LinkSys's website!
I installed it and... could not connect anymore. Neither with mij fully updated Samsing Galaxy Note II, nor with my brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab S. I tried everything, it didn't get better. I started looking for older firmware versions, wanting to get back where I came from. Stumbled upon FW_WAP610N_v1.0.00.832.bin and installed it. Fortunately the device didn't give me hard time telling me this was an older version or something like that, it just installed it. And I could connect again! Phew!
Then I found FW_WAP610N_v1.0.01.094.bin , tried that, same problem. Put back v1.0.00.832 again, I could connect again.
Apperently something was seriously srewed up shortly after v1.0.01.000 . My original v1.0.01 worked fine (which I lost), anything later ruined my WAP610N.
So, if you have any issues connecting, Google for FW_WAP610N_v1.0.00.832 and install it. Then resist the urge to install the latest available firmware and just enjoy your WAP610N while it works.

  • WRT54G updating firmware problem

I am trying to update a WRT54G v5 firmware using the TFTP.exe.  When I enter the ip address (192.168.1.1) and my password, select the FW_WRT54Gv5v6_1.02.7.011_EN_20090727.bin file, click "Upgrade", I get "unable to get responses from server".
I am able to connect to the router via IE.
    Any suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
I have a similar problem but neither  via webpage and tftp.exe do not work.
I need to do an upgrade because my webpage looks like ... it was mostly empty. Most of information is missing. And it looks like this on different computers, different softwears (firefox, ie, chrome, opera) and even deferent ethernet (I also tried to set it in my sister house, she has a differenet internet provider)... I can't tell when it happend. Once I just wanted to change wi-fi settings and it was like that.
After some trying (looking inside the source of page) I finally get to the page you should browse and browsed an upgrade file but OFCOROUSE "upgrade" button was also invisible and absent....
    So...
I've read some more and found the solution: tftp.exe. I've download that, tried... and had the same problem. The information is: "unable to get response from server".
Guys, I really do not know what to do... I don't like the idea to buy a new router but I'm getting afraid that this is the only solution...
PS. If such problem was ovewritten somewhere else - I'm sorry. I could not find any similar. That's why I'm waiting.
I would be very happy for any help, and if someone is from Warsaw, Poland - I can buy a beer
PS 2. sorry for such plain and poor explenation, but I'm only a "lady"

  • Problems getting My WRT54G ver.6 goin, aswell as firmware issues??

Im having a lot of problems, it all started when i lost my installation CD for my WRT54G router. Im trying to set it up the router manualy from my knowledge but its not working. So all im missing is the install CD i have everything else. The computer im on now has the WRT54G hooked up the proper way...the only way im on the internet is through a USB connection for my DSL if i unhook it i lose internet, is this an issue for me trying to get it hooked up? Now on the computer that is gonna connect wirelessly i have a WUSB11 ver 2.8, everything on that is up to date and ready to go, drivers are good from my knowledge the firmware is up to date...now i cant connect to the net on that one but i can load up firmware and change settings and it shows that i can connect to the WRT54G router but its protected so i cannot connect. Im sorry if im rambing anyways the main problems im having are trying to get this router connect through my dsl modem...the only lights on at the moment are power, wlan and port 1. I cannont load up 192.168.1.1 to change settings and i have no clue if i need the updated firmware to be able to load up 192.168.1.1......any help would be appreciated

Hi… I think you should first disconnect the USB connection. Then Reset the router, and power cycle the network, if still could not login to 192.168.1.1, turn off the modem and try again. If you succeed just change the LAN IP to 192.168.2.1, Power Cycle the network you should be online again. Login to 192.168.2.1, Setup wireless SSID and WEP key, and connect to this wireless network, you should be online. If not change the connection type to PPPoE and you should get an IP address on the status page of the router. Once you get an IP address, you get internet connection.

I (mistakenly) updated firmware of my WRT54G Ver 1 with firmware V 7. The router is still working fine but now I have this problem: when I open the router for setting, the menu is unreadable and I cannot acces the menu. How can I repair it, or how to rollback? Thanks for anyone who can help.

Read the support articles for your router. Look for the article regarding a "blinking power light". It describes how to flash your router through tftp instead of the web interface. Follow the instructions and load the correct firmware with tftp to the router.
