Problem Updating iTunes with Windows Vista

I downloaded iTunesSetup.exe and ran as an Admin and during the installation I get an error message that says "Could not access network location %APPDATA%\."
What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Apple, apparently, had a fix up for an earlier version of itunes, but that is gone from the web page, and has been yanked.
Yes, there are big problems with iTunes for Windows. Until these are rectified, your Ipod will be a paper weight.

I cannot even uninstall and start again - it locks up, giving me a error message. It did it for version 10.7 and now for 11.

Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? (There's been a few reports in recent times of Kaspersky interfering with iTunes installs, with that message being produced.)
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Any better luck with the security software shut down?

  • DESPERATE! IPOD NOT SHOWING IN ITUNES WITH WINDOWS VISTA.

I recently bought a new Dell Dimension E520 which came with windows vista pre installed. I seem to be one of many people having problems with it!
Newest version of Itunes (7.1) is installed and working fine. When I plug my IPOD nano in however nothing happens. It is visible in the device manager on my PC but doesn't show in itunes.
I've been to the apple store and they said that the new itunes should fix the problem but it hasn't. they've checked my nano and it is fully up to date.
I know it is a driver problem but i have absolutely no idea what i'm looking for when i go to the support section on this website!
the reason I bought a new PC was that my old computer wouldn't download the new itunes and therefore i couldn't access the store or any songs bought from the store on my nano (plus it was 14 years old). it did however actually recognise my IPOD!
It's been nearly 6 months since i've been able to update my ipod with songs and i'm getting desperate!!!! please can anyone help??

  • IPod will not update in iTunes with Windows Vista

Every time I connect my ipod to my computer, my computer locks up and it does not update. The only way I can even connect my ipod is to use manual update.

  • Syncing iPod in iTunes with Windows Vista

I have the latest version of iTunes.
I upgraded from XP to Vista.
iTunes was syncing my iPod fine before the upgrade.
After I upgraded, iTunes worked fine (although taking up a huge amount of RAM) but syncing my iPod happened like this:
iTunes would recognize the iPod and seem to start syncing but would just sit for 30 to 40 minutes, iTunes extremely slow. Then, after 45 minutes, iTunes would finally begin syncing and finish in a normal time.
It's been like this for a month now and I'm going crazy.
I'm really dissapointed, not only because Apple took forever to release an update to iTunes that would work with Vista, but also because the update barely fixed anything.
I'm not even going to bother wasting my time calling customer support.
Any sort of assistance would be greatly appreciated!

  • Can't use iTunes with Windows Vista Home Premium

I have deleted and reinstalled so many times, so i tried the compatibility settings and set it to work for Windows XP(Service Pack 2) with 256 colours. It works, but it messes up all my colours.
    Help, please.
(My brother got iTunes working on his Windows Vista Home Premium laptop, but it won't work for the desktop computer.)

i think the file name quicktime.msi is causing the problem
also forgot to add that installation stops when the status turns to computing space requirements

  • Importing CD's into itunes with windows vista

I am having some trouble importing my cd's into itunes. When I insert the cd, it it recognized, and gives me the option to import. When I click yes, it imports the entire cd in about 5 seconds. When I go to play the songs added to my library, they are all 1 second long, and no sound plays. It also does the same thing when i try to play the song directly from the cd. It just goes from track to track every second.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, and still get the same problem. It is not my DVD drive, as the same cds import and play in windows media player. I am running windows vista home premium. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Downloading from iTunes with Windows Vista

I just purchased my iPod video and i am tring to download a free episode of something and it is saying that it is going to take 132 hours for it to download. I am using windows vista and i was wondering if this was a normal thing or if there was anything that i could do about it. Thank you in advance for anything that you can do to help me.

  • Problems installing iTunes on Windows Vista

I have searched these and other forums.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes NUMEROUS times.  I have cleaned the registry, tried Windows Fix-it, tried to repair Apple Application Software.  I have updated the Microsoft.Net Framwork.  I continue to get the same error.  The software says that it has loaded successfully, but when I try to open the software, I get the following message:
"The procedure entry point AVCFURLAssetInheritURIQueryComponentFromReferencingURIKey could not be located in dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll"
My only choice then is to click ok.  When I do that, I get a second error message:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes    Error7 (Windows error #127).
Can someone please help me with the correct fix for these errors or some other ideas of how to get iTunes correctly installed on my computer.  I have spent HOURS in the last week researching and re-installing and am at my wits end!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The error report suggests a similar problem to those outlined in the fist and third boxes and is probably the result of an outdated .dll file.

  • Problems installing iTunes with Windows 8

    Hi,
I have recently purchased a laptop with Windows 8. I have appeared to have installed iTunes but when I open it I get an error message saying the following:
Apple application support was not found. Apple application support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (windows error)
I have tried installing it and re-installing but this has not helped
I have seen similar questions (and answers) on this forum but I am totally confused by the answers. Could anyone provide with a very clear, jargon-free solution to this problem?
    Any help is much appreciated
    Ali

The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if a component such as Apple Application Support won't install normally.

  • I CAN'T EDIT MY MUSIC LIBRARY IN iTunes WITH WINDOWS VISTA!!!!

I add my music carpets to iTunes and when I tried to edit any song, all data were in gray color and disabled. What happened? Does anbody know? I've already change many options in the Edition/Preferences menu, but nothing happened.
Thank you very much and i hope that anybody could help me

It is a Vista permissions issue. Give yourself FULL control over any folders with music. You might need it on the parent folders, too.
