  • Problem updating Lightroom?

I just tried to update Lightroom from the Creative Cloud updater. The updater only offered to install Lightroom 5, not update.  Now when I try to open Lightroom by clicking on the icon nothing happens.  I had the same problem when first updating at the time of the initial release of Photoshop 2014.  At that time I had to manually install Lightroom 5.

Before I installed LR 5.6, I took the opportunity to uninstall PS CC (it was just hanging around unused, as I was using PS CC 2014). To do so, I uninstalled PS CC (and deleted that version's preferences), PS CC 2014 (kept its preferences), Bridge CC (kept its preferences) and LR 5.5. I used Creative Cloud to install PS CC 2014, Bridge CC, and LR 5.6. PS and Bridge installed and operated exactly as expected. LR 5.6 appeared to install as it should, but double-clicking the icon on the desktop would not open the program - exactly as you describe.
I downloaded the stand-alone installer for LR 5.6 and launched it. I was offered the opportunity to Repair or Uninstall LR 5.6. I chose Repair, but sadly that didn't improve the situation any. I then used Windows 7 Control Panel to uninstall LR 5.6, and rebooted the PC. Finally, I ran the stand-alone LR 5.6 installer, and everything now operates as it should - for me.

  • I updated Lightroom to version 6, but now it won't open.

I updated Lightroom to version 6 from 5.6, and now it won't open.  I have tried un-installing it and re-installing it and nothing.  I then uninstalled 5.6 to see if that would help (shouldn't this have disappeared after the update??), and nothing.  Please help.

Also, I did the install after I updated CC and then I did try re-starting my computer.

Can I update iPhoto from version 8.1.2 to 9 or higher versionfor free?

Is your profile signature "Mac OS X (10.6.8)" still current? With that MacOS X version you can upgrade to iPhoto 9.2.x. Only, the iPhoto version 9.5.1 currently sold at the AppStore requires MacOS X 10.9.x. If you you are not running Mavericks, you could try to buy a boxed retail version of iLife '11. That will have a compatible early iPhoto 9.x version.

  • Problem updating Lightroom "key not valid for use in specified state"

    Hi,
I am having problems with installing the update 5.6 of Lightroom from 5.2.
I downloaded and ran the updater. It has uninstalled my previous version of Lightroom but now each time I try to run the installer it fails, with the message "key not valid for use in specified state".
I have tried restarting to no avail.
    Any ideas?

Searching Google for the error and Lightroom, the two forum threads that come up are:
    1)      Installing Muse the user wasn’t logged in as an administrator level user and after they logged in as an administrator user and did the install, again, it worked.
    2)      A recent Windows Update seemed to interfere with something and the user did a system restore back to a few weeks, ago, reinstalled their previous version of LR, and then installed LR 5.6 and then did the Windows Updates again and everything was ok.

  • I was updating Firefox from version 6 to version 7, after updating I tried to open Firefox and the message I got is this: This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found. How can I fix this?

I was updating Firefox to the newest version 7.0.1 from version 6.0.2 I think it was, I clicked the restart Firefox button that always comes up after updating. It started updating and then Firefox never restarted like it was supposed to after it was done updating. I then tried to open Firefox and it told me "This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found." I did have Firefox crash on maybe about 30 minutes or so earlier which bothered me because I have been using Firefox for years and never had it crash on me before but I didn't think much of it at the time it happened because I was able to go back onto Firefox and finish what I had been working on. A while later I checked for updates and updated. The first time I tried to update it didn't work though so I had to shutdown Firefox and reopen Firefox and start the update a second time. It was after the second time that when I tried to open Firefox I got that message about failing to start because xul.dll can't be found. I filed a crash report when my Firefox crashed. This would have been around 1am-2am in the morning that Firefox first crashed and then wouldn't allow me to open it after updating. I have a DELL laptop running the Windows XP operating system but the laptop is probably at least 6 or 7 years old. The laptop will no longer charge so I always have to have it plugged into an outlet. Both my laptop hard drive and my external hard drive give me messages that I am running out of disk space on my hard drive. I bought this laptop 6 or 7 years ago second hand so it could be even older. In short it's a piece of crap and it gives me all kinds of issues but I currently can't afford a new one, but I have never had any problems with Firefox and I use Firefox more than any other aspect of my laptop so it's really really bothering me. May you please help me fix it?

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

  • Problem upgrading HSS from version 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2

    Hello,
I am upgrading Hyperion Shared Services from version 11.1.2.1 to version 11.1.2.2 and am facing a problem with the HSS database upgrade.
I am choosing to upgrade from a previous version of the DB, and the config tool shows everything ok with the upgrade but the Database is not being updated.
The configtool.log shows no errors and i am at a loss as to why this is happening. I ran the registry_cleanup tool and everything is fine.
Any idea why this could happen ?
    Thank You,
    João Jardim.

    Hi John,
Yes, i am using "Connect to a previously configured Shared Services database."
There are table changes for version 11.1.2.2 (for example table CES_PROCESS_DEF has 4 new columns in version 11.1.2.2).
These are not applied, and Shared Services does not start correctly. I get "ORA-00904: "PROCESSNAME" Invalid Identifier " errors.
    Thank you,
    João Jardim.

  • Are there any problems updating directly from OS X 10.6 to Mountain Lion 10.8? X

Will I have any particular difficulty updating directly from OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8 Mountain Lion using a download from the App Store?
iMac is current with the latest 10.6.8 version.
Thank you for any comments or suggestions.

You want to check compatibility of your apps and that your Mac can support ML.
Also, although the specs say 2GB of RAM, IMO 4GB should be a minimum.
The app Store DL is slow. Once you DL it, before installing it copy the installer from your Applications folder, so if you ever need to use it again you have it. The reason for this is that it self destructs after restart.

  • Updating Lightroom from 3 to 5

I am thinking of upgrading my lightroom from lightroom 3 ...how difficult is it ? and wwhat are the changes i will have to worry about, does all my data/folders/catalogs have to be changed too

Lightroom 5 will convert your existing catalog, but the conversion is saved as a new catalog. Your existing Lightroom 3 installation will remain intact and usable just as it is now. If you're that concerned, download the Lightroom 5 trial version and use it for 30 days and see what you think. The transition was completely painless for me. Nothing was lost. Since you are moving from Lightroom 3 there will be a process version change to deal with. All of your existing images will remain in process version 2010 with sliders just as you see them in Lightroom 3. New imports will have the process version 2012 sliders and they are different. And you can switch between the two versions. Just a couple of things to be aware of but it isn't anything to be afraid. It just gives you more flexibility.

  • Updating Lightroom from ole version and OS to new LR 5 CC on Mac OS 10.8.5

I decided to pull the triger on Creative Cloud and to do so had to finally upgrade from Mac OS 10.4.11 to OS 10.8.5. I kept a boot versuion of the old OS on a separate internal  hard drive just in case.
I've used Lightroom for years and continuously upgraded without problems. I have an extensive catalog (I'm a professional phtotographer) that lives on a dedicated internal hard drive. I want to use Lightroom 5 CC but can't find any instructions for how to update the old catalog so the new version of Lightroom running in the new OS sees it. . The old catalog will not open in LR 5 CC I moved a copy of LR 4 onto the OS 10.8.5 boot drive but it will no open. Any thoughts? I am stumped.

  • Problems when updating WLC from Version 4.1 to 4.2

    Hi,
we have a Problem when upgrading a WLC 4400.
When booting the device with the 4.2 Software, there are errors in some lines like "Starting Virtual AP Services: Parse error at line 244:
    not well-formed (invalid token)"
    and the config gets deleted.
What could be the problem? Is there a possibility to save the config and view it in clear text?
    Thanks a lot and regards.

    I see a similar message while booting a WLC-4402-25 running 5.0.148.0:
    Starting Management Services:
    Parse error at line 3
    not well-formed (invalid token)
    Web Server: ok
Looking at line 3 of the XML config file reveals:
Unless line 3 refers to a line 3 of a subset of the XML config file, I'm guessing the WLC code generating the XML config file is out of sync with the WLC code interpreting the XML config file during boot, or vice versa.
In my case the config is retained on the WLC.

  • Problem updating catalog, from non-working Elements 8, to vs. 13.

I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, Windows; upgrading from vs. 8. Can't update the Catalog file; got error message. Previous version of Elements will no longer open; that's why I bought new version.

Update:  Spent a good part of a frustrating day on this - after Adobe refused assistance (via Chat); told me my only recourse was via forums. Fortunately, I seem to have solved the problem; in multiple steps, which were basically trial and error.  Version 8 did start working again - really not sure what worked! But I messed with several things.  Was able to make use of some of the tips I found in help menus, once that was solved, to convert my original catalog.  Then to use Vs. 13, I figured out that you have to select something besides the default "ELive" (on the top bar), to have access to the Manage Catalogs menu, etc.  This isn't mentioned anywhere, but it was a stumbling block for me.

  • Can't update Aperture from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 without paying full price.

I read about the new Aperture update to version 3.5 but it does not appear in regular software updates. When I found it in the App Store it is listed at $79.99. I already own Aperture and currently have version 3.4.5. I understood this to be a free update.

It is a free update, most users are getting it without a problem however some users seem to be having difficulty.
First thing the update is only for system running Mavericks. HA=ave you upgraded the OS yet?
If you have is Aperture installed in the systems Applications folder and named Aperture. These two points are important for Software Update to do its thing.
Have you tun Software Update and update from the Mac App Store. In my case it did not show up in the App Store until I had updated from 3.4.5 to 3.5.
Some users have had success getting the upgrade by uninstalling Aperture, reinstalling from their original media and then running Software Update. Remember if you try this you will need your serial numbers for Aperture so make sure you have them before trying it.
