Problem updating Lightroom?

I just tried to update Lightroom from the Creative Cloud updater. The updater only offered to install Lightroom 5, not update.  Now when I try to open Lightroom by clicking on the icon nothing happens.  I had the same problem when first updating at the time of the initial release of Photoshop 2014.  At that time I had to manually install Lightroom 5.

Before I installed LR 5.6, I took the opportunity to uninstall PS CC (it was just hanging around unused, as I was using PS CC 2014). To do so, I uninstalled PS CC (and deleted that version's preferences), PS CC 2014 (kept its preferences), Bridge CC (kept its preferences) and LR 5.5. I used Creative Cloud to install PS CC 2014, Bridge CC, and LR 5.6. PS and Bridge installed and operated exactly as expected. LR 5.6 appeared to install as it should, but double-clicking the icon on the desktop would not open the program - exactly as you describe.
I downloaded the stand-alone installer for LR 5.6 and launched it. I was offered the opportunity to Repair or Uninstall LR 5.6. I chose Repair, but sadly that didn't improve the situation any. I then used Windows 7 Control Panel to uninstall LR 5.6, and rebooted the PC. Finally, I ran the stand-alone LR 5.6 installer, and everything now operates as it should - for me.

  • Problem updating Lightroom "key not valid for use in specified state"

    Hi,
I am having problems with installing the update 5.6 of Lightroom from 5.2.
I downloaded and ran the updater. It has uninstalled my previous version of Lightroom but now each time I try to run the installer it fails, with the message "key not valid for use in specified state".
I have tried restarting to no avail.
    Any ideas?

Searching Google for the error and Lightroom, the two forum threads that come up are:
    1)      Installing Muse the user wasn’t logged in as an administrator level user and after they logged in as an administrator user and did the install, again, it worked.
    2)      A recent Windows Update seemed to interfere with something and the user did a system restore back to a few weeks, ago, reinstalled their previous version of LR, and then installed LR 5.6 and then did the Windows Updates again and everything was ok.

  • Updating problems from Lightroom 5.5 to 5.6

i tried to update Lightroom from 5.5 to 5.6 but when it says "updating component registration" I keep getting the error message "Key not valid for use in specified state."  To make matters worse, the updater has already removed Lighroom 5.5 so I don't even have the program on my computer at all!  I tried to re-download it and re-install Lightroom 5.0, but I get the same error message, and I don't even have a chance to put in my product key.  this is very frustrating and I have no idea why this would have happened.

I don't know for sure, but I imagine it has to do with Adobe's method of gradually notifying people of the upgrade to keep their servers from getting flooded. If all the hundreds of thousands of accounts where constantly checking to see if new programs where available every minute of every day, that would be some serious overhead. They probably do something like "check once daily at midnight to see if new versions of PS, LR, IL, DW, etc are available and notify the user".

  • Updating Lightroom to 5.4 fails in Windows error 1402. Help.

I wasn't able to update Lightroom to version 5.3 neither 5.4. I get "Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Installer\Products\576C6E45 . . . \SourceList\Media. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
Running Windows 7 64-bit and am the administrator of the machine. I've already tried EVERYTHING I found in forums and help pages without success.
I'm also facing problems trying to update Adobe Air. I haven't been able to update it in TWO YEARS. Unbelievable. I've paid a lot of money for software from Windows and Adobe, but then when we run into problems, we're left in the dark. THOUSANDS have been facing the same problem (as any simple google search can show us) and still, no useful help.

The message is in swedish. Basically the program memory has not enough
capacity. Close safari, mail Spotify. When I do this the screen freezes and I
need to press start for 5 sec. to restart the machine. No error code. Apple not
    very helpful.

  • How Does One Update Lightroom to 4.3 if in this Creative Cloud Hell???

Trying to update to 4.3 from 4.1  -- Checked the application manager - no updates to 4.1.  Went through the program - update lightroom - downloaded 4.3 and it installed as a separate program without deleting 4.1.  Now it asks for a serial number.  Creative cloud members don't get serial numbers.
Here's my chat transcript with adobe's terrible, hellacious, moronic, and incompetent support person:
Ashish: Hello! Welcome to Adobe Customer Service.
Ashish: May I please have your email address registered with Adobe while I review your request?
      Laura: <Removed by Moderator>
Ashish: Thank you for the information. Please allow me a moment while I locate your account.
      Ashish:
Laura: I have re-installed the application manager, but the lightroom available for download on the list is once again Lightroom 4.1
Laura: Is there a proper technique to update?
Ashish: Please provide me the serial number of your product.
Laura: How do I get a serial number????
Laura: I joined creative cloud and no serial numbers are provided.
Laura: If I had a serial number, I wouldn't need help.
Laura: In my account, there are no serial numbers.
Laura: to download and install programs, I must use the application manager (apparently)
      Ashish: Please allow me moment.
Laura: When I try to update Lightroom 4.1 to Lightroom 4.3, the program directs me to dowload lighroom 4.3
      Ashish: okay
Laura: When I installed Lightroom 4.3 it does not uninstall 4.1, but is does install as a separate program and then asks me for a serial #.
Ashish: You have install it directly you cant upgrade lightroom.
Laura: Ok, but when I do - it asks me for a serial number.
Laura: Adobe does not make serial numbers available to creative cloud members.
Laura: I am in my account searching and cannot find serial numbers anywhere.
      Ashish: Yes
Laura: So my question is - How is a member of creative cloud supposed to properly update applications.
      Laura: ????
      Laura: yes what?
Ashish: I'll be right with you.
Ashish: Sorry Laura, you have to contact on after 24 hours.our tool is not working.
Ashish: We are facing technical problem is our tool today.
Laura: What tool?  How do I properly update this program?  What is the procedure?  I should be able to do it without customer service.
Ashish: You can contact after 24 hours.
      Ashish: We will resolve
Laura: WHAT IS THE NORMAL PROCEDURE TO UPDATE PROGRAMS?
Laura: THAT IS THE ONLY THING i WANT ANSWERED
Ashish: First when i have track your product states then i will give you answer You have to install it in your machine.
Laura: That sentance makes no sense.  Are normal updates through the application manager or will a serial number be provided?
Ashish: But you are facing problem so please contact after 24 hours.
Laura: IF you are having trouble with english, please transfer me to someone else.  You do not understand my questions.
Laura: THis is a simple question with a simple answer.
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to [email protected] at the end of your chat.
Ashish: I am understand everything but without checking of your product how could i answer your question.
Ashish: Yes, if you have normal product then serial is provided by us.
Ashish: And a serial number is a licensing key of the product.
Laura: I am a member of ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD, with access to all the programs.  HOW DOES A MEMBER OF CREATIVE CLOUD UPDATE PROGRAMS, and ARE SERIAL NUMBERS AVAILABLE to MEMBERS OF CREATIVE CLOUD?  WHERE IN MY ACCOUNT IS MY SERIAL NUMBER?
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to <Removed by Moderator> at the end of your chat.
Laura: I am logged into my creative cloud account now.  Where is my serial number located???
Laura: I see no serial numbers.
Ashish: You have to go adobe.com and sign in your adobe id. and go to my product and service and go to my product then you will get the serial number of your product.
Laura: I am there, there are no products listed.  There is only the creative cloud service.  NO SERIAL NUMBERS.
Laura: Creative Cloud Student and Teacher Edition (one-year)
Ashish: If you are not able to find it then give me the order number of your product.
Laura: that is what I purchased.
      Laura: Order: DSS--------------------
Ashish: Please provide me the order number of your product.
      Laura: Order: DSS---------------
Ashish: Thank you For give the information
Laura: All you need to tell me is how to PROPERLY UPDATE MY PROGRAM AND WHERE I CAN FIND A SERIAL NUMBER.
Ashish: Please allow me a moment.
Laura: You shouldn't need order info for this because the procedure should be the EXACT same for any customer with a creative cloud membership.
Ashish: I am checking your order states.
Ashish: Sorry, i need the order number without it i am not able to find anything for your product.
Ashish: Please allow me a moment.
Laura: I gave you my order number twice already.
Ashish: Yes, i have but i am answering your question.
Laura: My question is a matter of the proper way to update Lightroom in a creative cloud membership.  It is a stand alone question that should be answerable without any knowledge other than knowing how YOUR OWN PRODUCT operates. HOW DO I UPDATE LIGHTROOM 4.1 to LIGHTROOM 4.3???
Ashish: You have to adobe voice support for this issue.
Ashish: You have to contact 18008336687

Have you tried applying the update by going to Help>Updates within Photoshop Lightroom?  The update should be using the same licensing?  Did you perhaps customize the installation location?  Finally which operating system are you using?

Problem updating After Effects CC (2014)  I get this message: Update Failed  Error encountered during installation. (U44M1P7)

    Hi,
    It’s version 13.1.1  It’s a trial version.
I am updating it from the Creative cloud desktop application.
I have the photography subscription with Lightroom and Photoshop with Creative Cloud.
I was interested in trying out the video software and have trials of Premiere Pro as well as others.  The CC desktop app alerted me to the AF update just as it does for the others I subscribe to plus the ones I am using as trials.  I have not had any problems with the other apps (trial or not), only with AF.
    Thanks.

Heya, Jonathan. Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Congratulations, and welcome to the fun-filled world of kernel panics. Yup, that's the text in the gray box you're getting.
The good news is you don't necessarily have to reinstall Mac OS X. If you have access to another computer and a FireWire cable, you can reinstall the 10.4.3 update, and everything should be groovy.
    * Connect the two computers via FireWire cable. Your iBook should not be on yet.
    * Boot up your iBook and hold down the 'T' key as it starts up. The iBook will enter Target mode.
    * Download the Mac OS 10.4.3 update on the other computer.
    * Run the 10.4.3 updater as normal, but select the hard drive of your iBook when you get to the list of available volumes.
Failing that, you can reinstall Mac OS X on your iBook from your install DVD. When you select your volume, make sure you click on the 'Options' button and select 'Archive and Install'. You'll retain all your personal files and network settings, but you might have to reinstall applications, haxies, etc.

  • Just updated lightroom to 3.6 images wont open in develop modual

I just update lightroom to version 3.6 from the last current version. I am on a Mac pro operating system 10.6.8. Everything appeared to be normal until I tried to open an image in the develop module and nothing happens and the program freezes with the lovely spinning rainbow wheel and the program must be forced to quit. What's up? not very happy as I have a lot of work to do. Please advise

To update, we haven't been able to reproduce this yet internally, so we don't have a cure yet, sorry. Dave C. was kind enough to send me some sample files but the problem wouldn't show here. Interesting update that some of you are breaking through by waiting it out.
For those of you seeing this, a few questions:
    1. Is the CPU busy (high or wildly fluctuating) or idle during this time? To check:
Mac:Go into Applications/Utilities and launch Activity Monitor. Find Lightroom in the list, and note the CPU column.
Win: Right-click on the Windows task bar to bring up Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, find Lightroom.exe and note the number in the CPU column.
    2. Are you using a special monitor profile? One you've calibrated yourself?
    3. If someone on Windows could try getting a stack dump when Lightroom is in this stuck state, that would rock. (Mac is good too, just harder to instruct on.) Here's how to do it on Windows:
    a. Right click the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen to bring up Task Manager.
    b. From either the Applications or Processes tab, find Lightroom.exe.
    c. Right-click that and choose "Create dump file". It will tell you where it put a file called Lightroom.DMP
    d. Find that file and send it to me (jkmoch at adobe dot com). They can get quite big; Dropbox is probably the easiest way to get it to me.
Thanks, and apologies that this is taking some time to straighten out.
    ~Julie
