Problem updating new firmware available for Z2 Tablet Wifi

So finally my Xperia Z2 Tablet Wifi, notify me there is update for 17.1.1.A.0.402. But the catch is need to be connect to the computer to do the updates. I re-download PC Companion many times (http://www.sonymobile.com/ca-en/tools/pc-companion/) as mention every thread. And yet it still saying PC Companion must be updated. and it does not provide way to update it.
My PC companion is version 2.1 as far I can tell. Is the website still running on software???
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I was fighting this issue with the addition of the Tablet not being recognised and looping between PC Companion telling me that it did not see the tablet, and then that it needed to update PC Companion... despite me updating it twice now. I called Sony Support who sent me directions to getting it updated. Unfortunately, it wiped my tablet to default. Lost everything in it, but it was not a surprise and it tells you that at every juncture. I pasted the directions in this message. Good luck! ----------------------- --------- We have an extended guide that should help you fix the issue on your phone, please follow the instructions carefully: Visit this link: http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/ Click on Download PC Companion Run the software and install it Turn the phone off and disconnect it from the computer 1. No matter what the program says do not connect the phone until you complete step 9 2. In the welcome screen you will see the different modules available for you including the "Support Zone" option. Click on "Start" below it. 3. On the next page Click on "Start" under "Phone Software Update" At this point if you get an error stating that "Unable to install update components" or "Server is busy" , then please proceed to step 12 4. The program will say that there is no phone connected. Click on the option below that reads: "Repair my phone" the program will issue you a warning about the content that you will lose during the update 5. Choose the option to continue. 6. The program will issue a final message warning you of possible data lost during the update. Click on the checkmark and then on "Next". 7. After that, the program will download the necessary information (5 to 6 minutes) and it will present you with a list of phones. 8. Choose your phones model from the list then click on "Next" then you will see a new section telling you how to connect the phone. (don't connect it yet) At this point the phone must be off and disconnected from the PC. 9. Connect the cable to the PC not to the phone, then while pressing and holding the indicated button (in the steps on screen an specific button will be shown for you to press on the phone) connect the cable to the phone and keep holding the indicated button until the program says "the update of your phone has started..." (in some cases a message of "Installing drivers" will appear before the message of "the update of your phone has started..." is shown.) 10. If you failed to follow the steps correctly the phone will turn on and it will request that you "Proceed with the following steps, slide down the notification bar", If this happens disconnect the phone from the cable, turn it off and repeat from step 9). 11. If the phone is connected properly, PC Companion will proceed with the update ( It will tell you to let go of the back key) then wait for the update to finish and follow instructions on screen to disconnect the unit. Dear Customer, 12. If "Unable to install update components" 1. Close PC Companion 2. Install Java from: http://www.java.com 3. Start PC Companion again and try to do the software unlock process once more. Note: If you wish only to update the unit wait for the program to open and then select the quick link on the upper left corner that says "Update Phone/Tablet" and follow the instructions to perform the update. (the PC may request for the phone to be placed in Mass Storage mode. Do this by going into Settings>Xperia>Connectivity>USB connection mode) As part of Sony Mobile's commitment to excellent customer service, we offer a wide variety of mobile products to suit your lifestyle. • NOKIA 5610 CAN'T UPDATE NEW FIRMWARE 6.60&7.12!!!!...

juz now i 've found tat there r 2 new firmwares available for download .BUT it is only for other country!!my software updater oso shown tat my firmware now(4.18)is the newest..y we can't update our phone's firmware while ppl from other country can????

These questions come up time and time again. Two main factors affect this:
    (1) Updates are phased in around the world because there are numerous regional variants, it is not just a single softwarfe for any particular model worldwide. Some regional variations may lag behind others.
    (2) If the phone has operator-version software instead of standard Nokia software, Nokia must await the approval of the network before it may release updates.

  • I purchased a new Mac Air. I try to update apps and I get this:This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. They do not show up in 'Purchases'.

I can't update iMovie, Garage Band, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and iPhoto. on my new Mac Air. 11". I had hoped when I updated to OS X Yosemite that would solve the problem. It didn't. I get this: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. I went to the app store, as was suggested in someone else's post, using the only ID I've ever had, and went to the purchases tab, to "accept" the apps. That didn't work, because they weren't there to 'accept'. They did come with my purchase, however. Please advise.

It appears Best Buy is up to their old tricks of palming off returned units as new. Take it back for a complete refund of your money. If they give you any static escalate your problem to management immediately.

"This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." ?
This error message will appear erraneously, if you skipped the update to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1 and went straight from an earlier MacOS X version to Yosemite, without first updating to iPhoto 9.5.1 and associating iPhoto to your AppleID.
Try first to buy iPhoto with your AppleID instead of updating. Delete iPhoto from Applications, but don't empty the Trash, then go to the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto. If you are lucky, it will show as free and you can buy it directly.
If iPhoto  is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support: Ask for a redemption code. You will need to provide a prove of purchase for your mac with iPhoto preinstalled.

    @lyjammy
Not quite sure from your post whether E71 still functional upon previous firmware and just fails to update every time that you try; if that is the case it may be easier to find another PC.

  • Just bought new Macbook Pro, can't download updates because of this message:This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

Mac app store will not download updates because of error message

    Hi,
I also am getting this message. I bought my 15" mac book pro mid 2010 and at the same time purchased iWork. It is not showing in my purchases on Apple ID, I have never changed my Apple ID since purchase. Why would my Apps not show. There are some there but mostly free ones. I checked it under the Store menu after signing in.
After upgrading from Mountain Lion to Yosemite  my iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote,Pages and Numbers need to update. But I get this message.
"This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
I have not changed ownership or Apple ID on my mid 2010 Mac Book Pro since purchase. What would cause this?

  • How do I solve this problem: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."

    Hello there, gxt88.
It seems you are having issues downloading an application from the App Store. To troubleshoot this issue, let’s follow the steps for iTunes Store connectivity:
First, try signing out of your account in Settings > iTunes & App Store. Once signed out, go ahead and restart your device. Once your device has restarted, sign back in to the iTunes Store and try to download the update.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
If the above did not resolve your issue, refer to the following:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • I can't update my iPhoto. "Update is not available for this Apple ID".

Updating my iPhoto has always been a problem.  When I try, I get the error of: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
This is the only apple ID I have ever owned, and now that I updated my Mac with the new software, I can't even OPEN iPhoto anymore. Now I can't view any of my photos and I am not a happy camper..
How can I fix this problem?????
    Thanks in Advance!

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

  • I've been trying to update my apps, and each time I press update, this message pops up: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

The same message pops up for apps I have yet to download. I was able to update all my apps yesterday, but now, I can't even download new apps on my iPhone 5 and my 5th generation iPod Touch.
    Thanks.

Did Apple get this sorted for you? Same problem for my new purchase "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled". Only purchased 3 days ago (and have loaded Yosemite) and have definitely not sold, cancelled or received any refund (very happy with the product).

If you're on windows try the following:
This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
    1. Quit itunes
    2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
    3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
    4. press ENTER
    5. Reboot your machine
    6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync
    7. Good luck

  • Macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was cancelled

macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • When trying to perform updates I get this message. This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. What do I do?

When trying to perform updates I get this message: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. What do I do? I just bought the MacBook Pro new and migrated my apps from my old MacBook Pro.

Perform the following, stopping with the first one which works:
    1. Open the Mac App Store's Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept them into your Apple ID, do so.
    2. Move them out of the Applications folder(they may need to be put into the Trash temporarily), and then see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If you're asked to buy them, see #3.
    3. Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
    4. Buy them.

I downloaded OS X Yosimite and now I can't update my iPhoto. I keep getting this message "This update is not available for this apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled". None of this has happened.

I upgraded to iOS x mavericks on my iMac now i cannot access my iPhoto i get this messageThis update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. I have not changed anything thankyou for any info.

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, elect the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
    Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
