  • Should i upgrade from photoshop cs3 extended to photoshop cs6 non extended

hi im just wondering should i upgrade from photoshop cs3 extended to photoshop cs6 NON extended...... would i loose options from my extended version?
also i dont use photoshop cs3 that much, does anyone think its worth me upgrading?
    thanks

    Good day!
I think I read that with 2013 the upgrade path would be shortened, so you are probably not eligible for upgrading anymore.
Apart from that the benefit of purchasing the current version of Photoshop naturally depends on what you are doing with Photoshop (both in terms of which features you use and how much you use the application overall).
Smart Objects have been improved quite a bit, Puppet Warp is an interesting feature, Configurator allows for the easy creation of custom Panels that can combine Tools, Commands, Actions etc.,  …
But to judge the programm yourself you could just install the trial – mind you, the trial is Photoshop Extended, so you may want to consult the Reference on which features you would not get with Potoshop Standard.
You might also want to look into Cloud Licensing – or at least »Adobe« wants you to …

I am trying to upgrade from Adobe photoshop cs3 extended to Adobe photoshop cs5

    Can someone please help me!!
    Thank you,

Contact Adobe Support.   The Software disk may not need to be returned.  You might be able to simply purchase the proper license and perhaps pay the difference in cost -- they can tell you the options.  I believe that there is an upgrade path from academic software to a regular license.

  • Upgrading from Photoshop CS3 to CS6

I am upgrading photoshop CS3 to CS6 on Windows 7.
I have downloaded two files: Photoshop 13_LS16.exe and Photoshop_LS167z.
However, it has not installed properly.
I can only open CS6 if I click on the LS167z file with (open with PS).
And although it opens I get the message: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
CS3 is still as it was.

    Many thanks
    That makes everything clear.
    Also thanks for the deletes!

  • Can I upgrade from Photoshop CS3 to CS6?

Can I upgrade from Photoshop CS3 to CS6?

I think so, but only via the Creative Cloud, and with a one year commitment. And that upgrade may be only for suites, not individual apps. I didn't look that closely. See the page here:

  • Problem upgrading from Photoshop CS2 to CS4 Extended

I purchased the retail box Photoshop CS4 Extended Upgrade (Windows) from a retail store ($349.99 + tax). I am upgrading from Photoshop CS2 and this is the version that the Adobe website says to purchase for this upgrade path. The problem is that CS4 doesn't see my installed, working, activated, and registered CS2 installation so it brings up the next screen offering to allow me to install it as a trial version OR list my qualifying product and serial number. The way that it offers to let me enter my qualifying product is via a drop down box with a single entry of CS3 Extended. No way of entering my CS2 there and it doesn't like my CS2 serial number entered with a CS3 product being shown there (says it isn't a valid CS3 serial number...of course it isn't). Does anyone know how to get this thing to install? Adobe tech support is gone until Monday and then I'll be at work, unable to try anything they might suggest.
Why does Adobe make upgrades so painful? I remember CS2 was a PITA and took Adobe tech support a week to figure out how to get it to install.

No, this shouldn't be extended to extended (I wouldn't expect to shell out $350 twice for extended). This is Adobe P/N 65015396 which their website says is for PhotoShop CS, CS2, CS3, and CS3 upgrades and retails for $350. The face of the box is identified as Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended Windows and the side of the box only says that I must have an "eligible older version of Adobe or Macromedia software." It also says to check the website, which says this P/N is what to buy for my upgrade path. A mess? YES!!!

  • Problems upgrading from Photoshop CS or CS2 to CS3

I have a copy of Photoshop CS3 Extended and it is the upgrade version. I have both CS and CS2 but they don't seem to work to upgrade from. Is this copy of CS3 worthless?

try using the cs2 serial number here, Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3 when prompted for the qualifying product's serial number.
if that fails, you should be able to install ps cs2 from that link and then install your cs3 upgrade.

  • Upgrade from Photoshop cs6 extended Demo to full non extended software

    Hi there
I was wondering, when upgrading my Photoshop CS6 extended demo to the full version of Photoshop CS6 (non extended) does the extended demo need to be completely removed first to prevent conflicts?

Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CS6 Extended are installed from the same files, available for download. By default, the trial enables the complete feature set in Photoshop CS6 Extended. If you choose to purchase Photoshop CS6 rather than Photoshop CS6 Extended, you may simply enter your serial number for Photoshop, and the Photoshop Extended features for 3D design and scientific analysis will be turned off and hidden from view.

  • Upgrade Educational  Photoshop Cs3 Extended

Hi everybody. I'm an italian student and two years ago I bought a license for Adobe Photoshop Cs3 Extended, the educational version.
I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade my version of Adobe Photoshop Cs3 to the educational version of Adobe Photoshop Cs5 Extended.
    Many thanks,
    Daniele Nazzari

I was wondering that myself. I don't think you can; at least I can't find the option in the education store. I think you will need to buy the new version, which as far as I can see is priced for students at exactly the price the upgrade would be for non educational users. So if you are in education you pay the normal upgrade price, but for the whole programme. I suppose if they offered the upgrade at the educational discount they would be giving it away for next to nothing.

  • Problem Reading Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended In Windows

I have Windows 7 and Photoshop CS3 Extended; can't read .psd file; error says not a supported file type; need to work with layers. When installed, received a Successful message upon installation. A solution to reading .psd files in Windows?

Thanks to both of you for responding.  The files I am referring to are loaded to my C drive from ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS3 "CLASSROOM IN A BOOK" tutorial.  On the cover, it says "The official training workbook from Adobe Systems".  I don't know what to do at this point.  I'm ok with Html. Just need photoshop knowledge added and understand usde of .psd files provides a means to work with layering.  Any suggestions?

  • Upgrading from Photoshop CS3 to CS3 Extended

I realize this is old software now, but its the version my company has, and they haven't upgraded...with that...
I installed PS CS3 on a laptop using a volume license.  The user had the Extended version he wanted installed instead. I tried installing it, but couldn't so I uninstalled the CS3 and installed the CS3 extended. It didn't prompt for a license and opened as CS3. So I uninstalled again and cleaned the registry of any Photoshop and CS3 entries, and even search on the serial number. Reinstalled. Still didn't prompt for serial number and opened as CS3.  I installed the Extended on my computer, it initially came up as CS3, but after inputting the Extended serial number it seemed to "unlock" and everything changed to read CS3 Extended. I was able to connect to the Adobe chat and they referred me to tech support.  Called them and they said they no longer support CS3, and to search the knowledge base.

My guess is the script works for the suite but maybe not your individual
    version type.
When you searched for your ser. no., unless you search all of c:\ with a search "within a file" tool, you won't find it.
If it were me (best with an Adobe tech support on line with you), check the registry for anything Adobe Ps CS3...note the info....make a backup file of the registry just in case if needed later for restore.  Be sure to find the ser. no. location.
Un-install CS3 as normal.  Re-check the registry to verify Ps CS3 remnants are gone as compared to above...if not fully removed; remove manually....especially the ser. no.
Then install and PC should ask/offer to insert ser. no. rather than able to find (now deleted) s/n.

  • Problem Printing from Photoshop CS-5 (version 12.0) since installing Yosemite on iMac.

Any attempt to print from Photoshop CS-5 results in Photoshop crashing when I try to enter print settings such as paper profiles. I use several Macs and printers including an Epson Stylus Pro 4880 and a All-in-One Epson Workforce 7520. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop; uninstalled and reinstalled print drivers for both printers. I have the same printing problems with jpegs and raw files both large and small. I can print from the computers while using Yosemite if I print from other applications including InDesign CS-5.  I think I have tried all the suggestions that have been offered in this forum.
Fortunately I have a Macbook that I forgot to upgrade. It has OS 10.9 and CS-4 installed and once I installed the Epson drivers, it worked! So, I can meet my deadlines but still would like to work from my large desktop machines. After long sessions with a very helpful Epson technician and carefully going through the comments in this forum, I am convinced the problem is in Apple's new operating system.

Which reminds me, update 10.10.1 is out. Have you installed it?
Also sometimes this works: Resetting your Photoshop Preferences from the keyboard:
Hold down cmd-opt-shift and start Photoshop and agree to "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file"

  • Photoshop CS6 Extended upgrade from Photoshop CS5 Extended

I am running the Teacher/Student edition of Photoshop CS5 and plan to up grade to Photoshop CS6 Extended non- eacher/Student edition.  Will the be any complications with this upgrad.

    Hi Jerry,
While upgrading you should maintain the same form of licenses, which is if you haveretail CS5 then do get the retail upgrade of CS6,
If the cs5 version is volume then do get the volume upgrade. Please refer to this link for the upgrade path,

Can I upgrade Photoshop CS5 Extended just to Photoshop CS6, because I don't use the 3D features. I only use the picture corrections and special picture features?

Yes you can upgrade to CS6 Standard from CS5 Extended for $199.
If you are in another country, check your local Adobe Store and Click on Photoshop CS6 Upgrade, there is a dropdown list of qualifying products under "I own..."
