Problem upgrading to FlashBuilder 4.5 on Snow Leopard (not the known Java issue)

I've just upgraded to Flash Builder 4.5 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard.  I'm finding that no text is rendering at all, either in design view, or in the exported project.
When I use a Label, I simply see nothing where the Label is.  I can move and position the Label, and if I double-click on it, the text will appear in the Label for editing.  But when I deselect the Label, the text appears as though it's not there.  It similarly is not visible in the compiled .swf file.
Likewise, a DropDownList will not render any of its text, either.
Any quick help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

May I know which locale are you using on your Mac OSX ?

When you use a virtual machine software, it can "take over" the optical drive for the virtual machine operating system, so the disk won't appear in OS X or on the desktop. You need to disable the virtual machine from accessing the optical drive. Usually if the virtual machine is not booted up, then control returns to OS X for the hardware.
If the disk is not appearing in Windows, it's because you need to enable the virtual machine to access that piece of hardware.
First use the Apple Menu to Software Update 10.6.3 to 10.6.8
Next update Parallels to the latest version, if you get a grey screen and the Mac refuses to boot, hold the Shift key down (Safe Mode) while booting up again to disable Parallels and other at boot kernel externsion files, update Parallels and then reboot normally.
While in Windows in the virtual machine, Windows Update to the latest version (Control Panel) and also make a "snapshot" this way you can revert to that for updates or if you get malware. Install the free Microsoft Security Essentials, it's good enough in most cases as you can "fall back" on the virtual machine snapshot if you get infected.

  • Problems upgrading from v10.5.8 to snow leopard.

I recently purchased Mac OS X snow leopard to upgrade my v10.5.8 Macintosh computer. The computer successfully got half way through the install then automatically rebooted itself. After this happened it remained at the reboot screen indefinitely (screen with the apple logo and the loading circle). Has this happeneded to anyone else? what can be done to prevent this happening to successfully load snow leopard onto my device. v10.5.8 Macbook aluminium version 2008.
    Thanks,
    Connor.

My suggestion is to make a bsckup unless you already have one then erase the drive and install Snow Leopard fresh then restore your files.

  • Upgrade from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I am a bit puzzled about what is the best option to upgrade to 10.6.
I have 10.5.8 and also iWork and iLife installed. Would the upgrade package update also the iWork and iLife software, or should I buy the Mac box set bundle to update this software?
    Thanks!
    Francesco

OMG I'm sorry. I had a complete and utter moment of stupidity. It's true. iLife 08 will work with Leopard and Snow Leopard. The only compatibility issue with iLife is that you need to be running Leopard to run iLife 09. It won't work in Tiger. Since this isn't your problem you're fine.
    My apologies.

  • How do i upgrade from os x 10.5.8 leopard to the newest software?

I would like to get the newest software for my macbook. I run system os x 10.5.8 (leopard i guess).
    Thanks for answering!
My problem is: i dont have the app store installed. So how can i upgrade?!

You can purchase Snow Leopard from the Apple Store ( and numerous resellers). It costs about $30, plus state taxes.
10.6.6 up to 10.6.8 will install the "App Store" where you can purchase and download "Lion" (10.7).
Make sure your machine meets the Lion install requirements before you buy.

    Help!
    Thanks, Mark

Unfortunately, the error message gives no details about what codec might be missing or what it needs.
If the file can't be opened in QT, it only means you cannot use the QT "Inspector" window to check what compression formats were used to create the file. It does not mean you can't use the Finder "Information" window to check on the compression formats or use a third party media information window (e.g., like VLC which will open many compression formats not supported natively by QT) to determine what kind of data is included in the MOV wrapper. If the file cannot be opened in any app, it is usually a good sign that the file itself is corrupted.
It's a stupid error message. Apple should do better than that.
Error trapping is quite extensive but there are still many areas which require human oversight. The message is telling you that either the container has a problem (e.g., not properly terminated, non-standard, or corrupted) or that one or more of the compression formats used is not supported by your current codec component configuration or that the data was encoded using non-standard settings or preferences not supported by QT or that the fourCC code does not match the data contained in the file or that there are timecode inconsistencies, etc., etc., etc. In short there are a near infinite number of possible problems for which it would be very difficult/nearly impossible to program error trapping depending on your sourcing of content and how you process it before it reaches the player app. Think of it like trying to play a BD disc in an DVD player.
I'll call Apple support when I get a chance.
Chances are good that they will end up sending you back here. In any case, it is often a good idea to post a sample file for examination by other QT users. At the very least, they should be able to tell you if the sample file will play on other systems which would indicate whether or not the file itself is bad and under the best of circumstances whould allow them to examing the file in detail for various common problems.

  • Just upgraded my iMac to OS x snow leopard. trouble now with my printer. I've disconnected and reconnected. Does not seem to recognize printer. It is listed as the default printer

just upgraded my iMac to OS x snow leopard. Now I have another problem. Printer not working. I've unplugged and replugged, nothing happens
    HELP
    thanks in advance

Go to the website for your printer manufacturer and check if there are SL compatible drivers available for your model. This is not an unusual issue, and if the printer's not too old, the updated drivers should be there.
If you can't find one on the manufacturer's site, try Apple Support Downloads and look back through the updates in there; Apple has issued generic updates for a number of printers since SL's release, so you may find one that way.
After installing the new drivers you'll need to setup the printer again.

  • I just upgraded my mac book pro to snow leopard, now my I photo library dissappeared

I am a novice in all things technical and I need some help figuring out my I photo library.  I bought my Mac Book Pro in 2009 and shared/transferred all information from my G5 (2004) to my laptop.  I Photo was also transferred and I have started to add more photos to this laptop.
I just upgraded my mac Book Pro to Snow Leopard and now when I open my Iphoto library it shows  some of the library but now all.  My husband said it is still there but the system is not able to look in the right place due to the sharing...so I am totaly confused?????
WHen I go to the Information it syas it is Where: /users/shared
Under sharing and permission it says: You have custom access
vivianlie read and Write (but this is in light gray)
    Everyone (also in light gray)
NOW: My old and faithful G5 all of a sudden is telling me this morning that in order to open I photo I
need to upgrade to work with this verion of I photo
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of I photo after the upgrade.
    What should I do now?
Thanks so much for any tips and ideas...

On you MBP try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
On your G5 make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and run the same 3 fixes.

  • Upgrade from 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard without Leopard?

I'm trying to upgrade from OS X 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard. (At this point it's been such a headache that I don't even care about Lion.) If I've read correctly, I need to first upgrade to OS X 10.5 Leopard. The only problem is that I can't seem to find it anywhere on the Apple site. I even searched for the Mac Box Set that included Leopard, Snow Leopard, and iLife and can't find it either. I went to an Apple store today and they didn't even Snow Leopard on the shelf. Anyone know how I can get from 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard? Do I still need to go to Leopard first? I tried looking at the requirements/tech specs for the Snow Leopard install disc in the online store, but that link takes me straight to the tech specs for Lion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello,
If I've read correctly, I need to first upgrade to OS X 10.5 Leopard.
You read correctly, but that info isn't correct, if your Mac can hadle 10.6 then the $29 Disc will install on 10.4.x...
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It looks like they do still have Snow Leopard:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.

  • Upgrading CS2 to CS5.5 under Snow leopard, will that upgraded CS5.5 version work under Lion?

    Hello,
I would like to migrate to Lion from Snow Leopard but before I do so, I would like to know whether Adobe CS5.5 upgraded from CS2 while still under Snow Leopard would then work under Lion.
    Many thanks!

Thanks a lot Stefan for your answer!
I am using CS2 premium (i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, Go Live, inDesign and Acrobate 7 Professional) and wish to upgrade to CS5.5 Design Standard + Dreamweaver.
But my question is probably more like: if we upgrade a CS2 product to a CS5.5 product, will some PowerPC code still remain in the upgraded version, thus creating compatibility problems with Lion?
    Many thanks,
    Cheers,
    Jonathan

    Hello royalaqua,
I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year.   Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases.   Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.

  • How do I erase my hard drive? My initial operating system was Snow Leopard but I have upgraded to Mavericks OS. My Snow Leopard install disk ejects when I try and use it.

Do a backup,  preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

    OS X Recovery (2)
When you reboot, use Setup Assistant to restore your data.
