Problem Upgrading to iOS6 - Asks to restore
I just did the iOS6 update and it shows a plug then above it says iTunes. I think it is saying to plugin to iTunes then I do it and it asks me to restore my phone. I did the update just like I should have and this happened. I cannot access my phone and it seems like I am about to lose all my photos that I only had on my phone. I am bummed out badly because some of my photos are from my son's preschool graduation and other memories that I will never get back.

It is the user's responsibility to ensure their photos and other personal data are backed up. Attempting an update without first having a backup of the device and personal data on that device is just dumb.
Whining about an update not installing properly and as a result losing precious photos is just dumb. If they were really important they would not be on a device that can be so easily lost, stolen, damaged, or have an issue with the update.
Go back to droid, no one cares. Just keep in mind that an ignorant user failing to backup their data will experience the same loss on any platform should a software update fail.

Apps not restored after upgrading to IOS6
I have an iPhone 4S, which I back up automatically to iCloud. I also manually back it up to iTunes every now and then.pgrade from IOS5 to IOS6.1
Last night, I finally decided to upgrade from IOS5 (5.1.1, IIRC) to IOS 6.1. I triggered a manual backup, and applied the update. Everything appeared to go fine, except that none of my apps were restored to the phone. I still have them on my PC, and the iTunes store app is offering me the ability to restore them from the cloud, but I was under the expectation that I would not have to go through and manually reselect and reinstall every single app. I'm also not relishing the prospect of recreating the home page layout and groups that I had developed over the last year.
Is this some sort of incompatibility issue? I've never struck this problem before when upgrading. I even tried restoring an earlier backup to my PC, and restored the iPhone from that, but the apps still aren't being restored to the phone.
Right now I'm going through a Reset in case I somehow clicked the wrong during the restore phase of the upgrade, but I'm not holding my breath.
Any ideas what might have gone wrong, and/or what else I might try to fix it?Enabling auto-sync made no difference. No matter what backup I restored from, the end result was the same - all my media and settings were restored, but no apps.
I have taken this as an omen that it was time for me to purge some of the accumulated appcruft from my iPhone. At least their settings are preserved, so when I do reinstall each one, it picks up where it was before.
Of course this begs the question of how I reclaim the space used by the settings from the apps that I will not be manually restoring. -
iTunes suggested to upgrade iOS for my iPodtouch but couldn't upgrade and asks to restore the iPod. But it doesn't restore also and gives error (1). Pl help.

- Try another cable
- Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I want to restore my iPhone to the backup that I did just before upgrading to iOS6. When I try to pull up old backups, I only see one from this morning and an old one from May 2012 when I still had my iPhone 3GS. I have not been using iCloud since it was set up improperly when I first switched to the 4S, the contacts weren't being synced AT ALL. visited the genius bar, they said I need a whole other appointment to visit them and solve that, I haven't had a chance to do that yet. Thus, I am backing up to iTunes.
This morning's sync/backup resulted in me losing most of my contacts, and for the contacts that remain, 99% of the phone numbers are gone. I can recover my calendar entries from this past week, but I don't know how I can recover all of them from my May 2012 backup.
Since I had a backup just last week, I'd like to just go back to it. But how? Or, is there another way to get my contacts restored? And why did they disappear? I did a software upgrade to IOS6 and my Iphone4S is now unable to update. Do I lose all my contacts and calendar entries when I restore?
You should be syncing all your contacts and calendars with your computer, either via iCloud or iTunes, so it is easy to re-sync them back to the phone after you restore.

can someone assist me with a solution to the problem with my iphone 5. I upgraded to IOS 6.1.4 and since then i have had the problem of No Sim. I restored to the factory settings using i tunes as i have my back up on my pc but still the same problem. I have swapped sim and my Sim is working on other iphone with ios 6.1.3
Try a new SIM from your carrier. If that doesn't work, make a Genius Bar appointment and get your phone evaluated.

I can no longer sync my e-mails (Yahoo) on my iPhone 4S after I upgraded to IOS6. It was fine with my previous version of IOS5...
I tried all of the methods suggested already (restarting device, deleting and adding mail account again) but still no luck.
Is this a bug I can fix?Its not the carriers its the IOS 7.0.2. I never had this problem until I did this darn update. Im getting mad and about to go back to the samsung. Hi, I have connected my iPhone 5 to iTunes, backed it up and then started the update but there was a problem, now my phone will not work, it asks to restore factory settings which I have tried 3 times, each time it says the device has an unknown error and the phone switches off. Please help.
Same thing happened with my iPhone 4S - no one is any help. Thanks Apple for such a crappy update! I've called Apple, they say the SIM card needs replacing, I go to my service provider they tell me nothing wrong with the SIM card - provider tells me I now need a new phone. Sheesh! If someone has a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded to ios6.1.3 on ipod touch and after I completed a sync on my PC but I suppose it did not sync, because now it will not restore from a back up and wants to restore from another account that I have saved. Can I some how restore the apps to avoid having to pay for them again and having to recreate settings?
As I said, the backup that iTunes makes does not include apps (and music) if those items where not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you restored they will not be on the iPod.

Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.
