Problem upgrading to iTunes 9: Apple Application Support not found

Today, when iTunes prompted me to upgrade to iTunes 9, I tried to do it, but once I got done, iTunes no longer worked. Each time, I try to open it, it says, "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\pthreadVC2.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support." When I click out of that, I get an error 7.
I have tried at least three times completely uninstalling iTunes & QuickTime, then reinstalling, but the result is always the same. I've spent the last three hours trying to fix this problem; meanwhile, neither iTunes nor QuickTimes works.
I cannot find how to download the Apple Application Support anywhere on their website. Is this a bug in the new version? HELP PLEASE!

i have the same problem i've been without itunes about 3 days, and in my screen appears a box saying QTCF.dll not found, and then i get error 1 HELLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").

Itunes won't install. Error message: Apple Application Support not found.  What is the fix for this?

It is always these four updates that fail.  I've tried downloading and installing them seperately from apple downloads.  I've tried various recommended fixes, and nothing I can figure out works.  Before these problems, itunes worked on the computer for a year.
Thank you again for wanting to help me.

  • I did the recommended re-install to resolve the missing MSVCR80.dll file. This worked, but I am now stymied by two error messages: "Apple Mobile Device failed to start" and "Apple application support not found". How to overcome?

That worked, however I now get two error messages when I install I Tunes:
o  Apple Mobile Device failed to start.
o  Apple Application Support not found.
This were of course deleted in the recommended re-install procedure to resolve the dll file, but repeated uninstalls and installs simply bring up these two error messages with a recommendation to install I Tune again. Installing the new I Tunes version seems to be problematic per the discussion groups and has no simple solution. SHould not the Genius bar be able to resolve this at an Apple Store? Want to buy a new I Phone 5S, but this problem effectively stymies this.

  • Apple Application Support Not Found (Error 2)

I just got a new iPad and was told to install iTunes on my PC to get started. I tried installing the lastest version of iTunes and at the end of the installation process I get 2 pop ups saying "Apple Application Support Not Found" I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes about 4 times now with the same problem. What do I need to do to successfully install iTunes and is there any way to use my iPad without connecting to a PC first? Please help, I would really like to use my graduation present!

    Many thanks.
Okay. We'll try a "standalone" installation of Apple Application Support, then. (It still may not install, but at least we'll have a better idea of what the problem is, based on any error messages we might get.)

  • Apple Application Support not found - any soloutions?

Hi. Last year i had my pc stolen and had to install pod to pc software on my new pc to upload all my itunes from my ipod which worked. I have recently installed itunes 10.5, however when i try to get back into itunes it says "apple application support not found" and that i have to uninstall itunes and reinstall to make it work. I tried to do this but it said it couldn't do this. Does anyone have any ideas on how i ca retrieve my itunes on my pc?  Thanks

    Hi all
    I had the same problem and was able to solve it, kindly follow the below steps;
Download the installation file iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunesSetup64.exe if you are on a 64-bit system) from apple
    Extract or unzip the iTunesSetup.exe
Open the folder iTunesSetup (or iTunesSetup64) created in the previous step
    Double-click the file AppleApplicationSupport.msi
(or AppleApplicationSupport64.msi if you have a 64-bit system)
    Choose
"Repair" if you are prompted (if you are not prompted that's fine, too)
Your iTunes installation should work now.
    Regards,
    Rami
