Problem Using BrowserLab on an Intranet site.

I am trying to use BrowserLab to access an intranet site and I keep receiving the message that the URL is invalid.  Is it possible to use this tool in this manner?  I am not using Dreamweaver for development.

fyi : BrowserLab 1.4 in current release form since June of  2010 can be used on Intranet site when invoked from Dreamweaver CS5
one needs to set-up a DW site pointing to their intranet site (it should be fairly easy - if u are a Dreamweaver user)
please make sure u have "Local/Intranet" option selected in preview dropdown in Adobe BrowserLab Panel
u can also use live DW Live View to preview the page /state of your site (in case u are using a intranet CMS system or dynamic page asp, .php)...Wordpress, Drupal or Joomal
u can initiate then the preview , it will ask u to grant permission
once u grant permission , it should be able to preview intranet site & assets.
this functionality is integrated via the DW CS5 Integration/CSLive with BrowserLab 1.4 online hosted service (so u can sign-in within DW and hop directly into your preview).
the above steps enables one to preview sites on Intranet site
please try these steps , please let us know if u have further queries w.r.t to above workflow or any further guidance.
HTH,
Amit.

  • Can BrowserLab test intranet sites ?

    Hello
I want to use BrowserLab to test intranet sites, but I have no permission to access htdocs directly.
So I always download all html/image/css/js files to my local apache htdocs, then use  BrowserLab to test them.
Is there any smart ways to test intranet sites ?
    Chen

    Hi Chen,
We've heard this type of request before (due to intellectual property or data privacy concerns, not speed), but I'm sorry to say that this is something we can't do right now due to licensing issues. On our servers we run licensed copies of the various OS's, browsers, and other types of software configured in very specific ways so that we can request and deliver the screenshots. Due to licensing concerns we are not allowed to redistribute all that software, and to come up with a set of instructions that would allow our users to set up their own copies of our server architecture would be an incredibly daunting task.
We have talked about ways we can make this happen in the future, but it is not going to be a capability we'll be able to add any time in the forseeable future for now.
    Sorry I can't help,
    Mark

A site I need for consulting purposes (http://www.aegtelecom.com.pt/) requires an add-on known as “Intranet for Firefox”. When one accepts the add-on installation, a return message is displayed claiming that it cannot be found. At this point, I have to use IE to access the site. However, being a steadfast Firefox user, I would prefer to use Firefox for this purpose.

Have you tried contacting that web site's support department for help with that issue? <br />
If that web site can't find the add-on it says is needed, they need to fix that problem with their servers.
Or you can try using IE Tab2 to run IE in a Firefox tab. <br />

  • Problem: Slow Intranet Sites/Internal DNS Resolution for only AD Users

    Hello,
We are experiencing a very odd problem.
Any and All Active Directory users are experiencing very slow intranet sites.
We are a school corporation, so this is affecting our Student Information System, as it is entirely web-based and locally hosted.
All of our Domain Controllers are Windows Server 2012 R2, with all the latest critical updates.
All client workstations are Windows 8.1 Professional.
The problem occurs with ALL web browsers (IE, Chrome, FF, etc)
All DNS queries respond in <1 ms (no matter whether we are logged in as AD User or local computer user).
If we login as local computer user, we have blazing fast intranet sites/DNS resolution.
If we login as AD user, everything crawls again... every click on the intranet site spins and says loading for up to 15 seconds.
If we add the the intranet site to the local computer HOST file, it is blazing fast, just as if we logged on as local computer user.
If we take it back out of the HOST file, it drags again.
    I am totally stumped!
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    How are DNS settings configured?
If there are any public DNS IP addresses in Preferred or Alternate field, please remove them, then input these DNS entries in the Advanced section. We should only configure Domain Controllers’ IP addresses on Preferred
and Alternate DNS server section for domain-joined machines.

  • Windows authentication on Intranet site on IIS8.5 works when using the IP of the site, but not the URL.

I have an intranet website on server 2012R2 with IIS8.5.
When I access the site by IP address, the site prompts for windows authentication and it only permits access to the areas the logged in user is allowed.
When I access the site by URL, Firefox prompts for authentication and gives the correct access, but when I access the URL from IE or Chrome, the site never prompts for credentials and the entire site is wide open to anyone.
I have anonymous authentication disabled, Windows authentication enabled, and basic authentication enabled, set to default to our domain, so the user doesn't have to type domain\username.
I left the site bindings open, because when I bind to an IP or host name, the intranet site stops working.
Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong???

When I access the site by URL, Firefox prompts for authentication and gives the correct access, but when I access the URL from IE or Chrome, the site never prompts for credentials
and the entire site is wide open to anyone.
Are you accessing the site from a domain-joined workstation? It's possible that it looks wide open because IE and Chrome are using your existing Windows credentials without any prompting, whereas Firefox is not automatically using these creds so is prompting.

  • Re: Problem using APEX Site

I seem to have problems using my hosted APEX site since installing a new installment anti viral software on my computer . I have to repeatly
push the buttons. Often the site freezes up. Also the response time is slow. I was however to access the site from another computer Could it be that a virus has entered into my computer causing the problem, or is a problem with the site itself?
    Yours Michael Stone

    Hello Michael,
If you can access your site from another computer (with no or other anti-virus software) without any problems, your site seems fine.
Maybe you can configure your new software not to check certain sites (like your APEX site).

  • When accessing Intranet sites that use SSL Certificates issued by our internal PKI, FF for Windows give an error of "improperly formatted DER-encoded message"

When accessing Intranet sites with that have SSL Certificates issued by our internal PKI, FF for Windows gives an error messsage - An error occurred during a connection to myshaw. security library: improperly formatted DER-encoded message. (Error code: sec_error_bad_der)
Chrome and IE work fine. This is a new PKI using the SHA-2 signature algorithm.

    Hi Guigs2,
From the other post you link too, I can confirm that both the Root and Subordinate CA have been commissioned with the:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\CertSvc\Configuration\IssuingCA\CSP\AlternateSignatureAlgorithm = 1
registry key set. As can be seen above, the Signature algorithm on an issued certificate is RSASSA-PSS. This is been Microsoft suggested deployment IF you do not wish to support either XP or Windows 2003 machine and lower. In fact, I believe the option has been around since Windows 2008, however, there were of course, a lot more XP machines back then.
The obvious answer is that we would like to maintain the updated algorithm, AND see support for it added for Firefox. I think you will see a LOT more posts like this as people deploy more 2012 PKI infrastructure supporting only Windows 7 and up. Heavens, we may well be forced to Chrome or even back to IE!!! Whilst I do not what to necessary open up other potential vulnerabilities, for the sake of testing, what do you mean by disabling mozilla:pkix?

  • Issue with Internet facing site and Intranet sites

    Hello All,
I have migrated the SP2013 environment using database attach method for our intranet site. We also working on the
SP2013 Internet facing site using the same content database as Internet site.
When I extended the web application for Internet facing site, zone to
Internet and these are the URLs: The Intranet website URL is
    https://intranet.contoso.com/SitePages/home.aspx (Root Site) and
SP2013 Internet facing site http://contoso.com (not a root site and publishing site template)
However, I found on the http://contoso.com users can still access the
http://contoso.com/SitePages/home with same content as Intranet.
After done some Google search, bloggers mentioned to have move  https://intranet.contoso.com/SitePages/home.aspx to another site collection so that Internet facing site can exist root site.
Can 2 we have to two root sites in same web application? I need the content database to be same so that managers can check
Internet facing site and after signing into SP2013, redirects to
    Internet site.
Which is the best option to achieve this with same content database.
    Please advice.

    Business Requirement:
Content Managers want to control internal Internet site (https://intranet.contoso.com) (with default zone, port 443, Root site) and also want to have SP2013 Internet site (with Internet zone
http://www.contoso.com (not a root site and publishing site template)), Anonymous access at Web Application level. I configured the site architecture
to have intranet zone as default zone and extended Web Application for Internet facing site with Anonymous site. This the current site architecture
Because content managers do not want to duplicate public site (Internet facing site) with will be shared with some lists that are stored in intranet site.
For e.g. a sub site named “News and Events” will be shared with Public site as well as Internet users. Therefore, if a manger wants to update a list in the public site, it should reflect in intranet site as well. Thus, managers
don’t want to have separate database but same content database.
    Problem:
I have extended web application to have different Internet zone, the site URL looks this: http://www.contoso.com/sites/public with publishing template and Anonymous access. Managers want to have public site URL to be just
http://www.contoso.com and not   http://www.contoso.com/SitePages/Home.aspx. As I am using path based site collection for extending site collection, I am
    getting this URL http://www.contoso.com/SitePages/Home.aspx
We also tried host named site collection, but it does not provide anonymous access and keep on asking for user credentials.
Q1: We want to have Intranet and Public site with same content database as per business requirements, Shall I following link       http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/81172/moving-content-db-for-a-site-collection-to-another-db-server?
Q2: Because I am constrained that I don’t want to have separate web application, (I know, its not regular requirement), how could achieve this requirements?
Q3: Do have to completely re-design web site architecture, with
www.contoso.com as main web application, then copy Intranet site collection and move this to
    www.contoso.com/intranet using
    Move-SPSite command
Any kind of pointer and help will be highly appreciated as I am struggling for 2 weeks to solve this.

  • KB2909210 on Server 2008 R2 breaks my intranet sites

I have several intranet sites that my users use for various data entry and querying purposes.  I installed Internet Explorer 10 onto my 2008 R2 Terminal Server over this past weekend which also installed the Security Update KB2909210 and rebooted the
server.  On Monday morning, when my terminal users logged into the sites, the sites began malfunctioning.  All the dropdown arrows turned into question marks.  Some fields which normally have a small "x" on the right-hand side used
to erase the data entered in the text field were also displaying as question marks.  The objects still functioned but it was disconcerting to my users.  The update also slowed down these same intranet sites to where it began interfering with productivity.
I activated Compatibility View for all intranet sites, but it did not resolve the problem.
I also found that when my terminal users tried to print a pdf document from the intranet sites, the print dialog box was jumbled and no fields were pre-populated with data like they always are when printing.  I updated to the latest Adobe Reader, but
the print dialog box remained jumbled.
All of my users with stand-alone PCs have IE 10 installed and the intranet sites work fine.  They display properly and process quickly.  It is only my terminal users who log in from a thin client to their profiles on the server and use the IE version
installed on the server who have the problem with IE10.  The KB2909210 Update is not installed on, and does not come up as, an update for any of my stand-alone Windows 7 PCs.
I uninstalled IE 10 from my server, but since this was one of my production servers, I could not restart it until after the plant was shut down for the evening forcing my users to suffer with the slowness for the day.  This morning the intranet sites
are working fine through IE 9.  I also had to revert back to Adobe Reader v9.5 as the v11 (and v10) print dialog box does not display properly in IE 9.
I do not want to stay on IE 9 on my server as it gets more un-secure by the day and we've found IE 11 to be too buggy so far.
How can I install IE 10 with its security updates and prevent it from breaking my intranet sites?

I would re ask this in a different forum as this is a Small business server forum and I'm assuming you aren't running that platform?
Or call 1-800-microsoft and issues with a security patch are ultimately comp'd back to you.
This re-asking in forum after forum after forum is ridiculous!  When someone else has this problem and searches for it, they will get several useless results with the only responses being to ask in another forum.
This was originally posted in the Microsoft Community forum.  The MS Forum Moderator over there advised I should post it here and gave a link in her response.  God forbid she had just moved it to the correct forum as I've seen done on countless
    other forums!

  • KB2909210 on Server 2008 R2 breaks my intranet sites and print dialog box

Let's try this again.  I have been asking the following question of Microsoft and every time I do, I have only been told to try another forum.
I have several intranet sites that my users use for various data entry and querying purposes.  I installed Internet Explorer 10 onto my 2008 R2 Terminal Server over this past weekend (10/18/2014) which also installed the Security Update KB2909210

    The bulletin here:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-011
is useless for determining why it breaks my intranet sites. Nor does it explain why the update destroys the print dialog box.

    Hi,
In my opinion, it's hard to say your problem caused by KB2909210. Have you tried to uninstall this update for test if your intrant site's problem resolved?
If your problem truthfuly caused by this updates, you can choose to hid the update as a workaround method.

  • Getting the certificate has an invalid signature error on one of my company's intranet sites.

Immediately after upgrading to FF35, I've lost the ability to access key parts of our intranet. I understand from other related forum questions that FF reps don't believe that typical users will encounter the problem of needing to access self-signed certificates over https. Here to tell you we do. The same issue keeps being posted on your forums regarding upgrades from FF31 onward (which at least allowed some user override). It looks like rather a lot of users have intranets that behave in the same way and would like to be able to use FF to access their own intranet sites. My company is highly unlikely to institute a massive security overhaul just to satisfy FF's sensitivities over the importance of this issue, especially when they have many other layers to protect themselves, so it's back to Chrome for me I guess.
    Way to go.

there will be some fixes regarding this error code in firefox 36, but without access to the site in question it will be difficult to assess the problem and to know if those would apply in your case. therefore it would be best to report the issue to the it department of your company since they have more possibilities to investigate...
    </blockquote>
This won't happen. Our IT department is not going to spend time and money instituting changes because a new FF update blocks their intranet certification. I'll just be told to use Chrome or IE, which is what I'll do next. Might check back when update 36 is out.

  • When i am logging to my company intranet site for every page navigation it is asking for credentials

When i am logging to my company intranet site for every page navigation it is asking for credentials

Also, if the navigation works most of the time but you are prompted for every single image, I suggest restarting Firefox and trying again.
The following also might help in that situation: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
