Problem using CAN PXI 8461

I have got a PXI 8461 and installed latest NI-CAN sotware.Working on real time target, I am trying to run an example CAN VI and I am getting the following error.
In MAX, I have self tested the CAN ports and verified the interface name of my ports.I have loaded the configuration file and then sent it to RT. While running the step by step execution I have realised that I am getting an error when I am execute the 'TASK INIT START'.
The interface is invalid or unknown. Solution: Verify that the interface is assigned to a
specific port within the Devices and Interfaces branch of Measurement and Automation
Explorer (MAX).

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
in one of our projects we are trying to use a CAN Bus system over RS-485. I have got doubts if this can be realized since RS-485 is different to CAN Bus. RS-485 does not support any multimaster configurations without bigger efforts and so on. But this is not the issue for my question here. On a prototype board I implemented RS-485 drivers and receivers. I am trying to find a circuitry to run CAN bus via RS-485. The test setup shall be quite easy. PXI 8461 card -> RS-485 -> ASIC (with the implemented CAN Bus system) and the same way back. It is just a point to point connection. No multimaster configurations will be tested. My question is now if it is possible to use the PXI 8461 card in general? I am not sure if the electrical levels are equal. Perhabs somebody used this card in my configuration and can give me some support. If it is not possible are there any recommendations which cards can support my configuration?

thank you for contacting National Instruments. RS-485 specifies an electrical standard, like differential signal transmission and with a voltage around +/-200 mV. A DC-Offset from -7 to +12 Volts is allowed.
The CAN-Standard uses Voltages from -27 to 40 Volts. As you can see, you can not switch the electrical specification from CAN to RS-485, because the voltages differ already to much.
Why do you have the need to reduce the CAN Voltage down to RS-485 levels?

A Programming problem with PXI 8461
I use PXI-8461 CAN Card.
The subvi READ_AI's function is to aquire data,and save datas to database.
And Process.vi dynamicly calls READ_AI twice,and a Main.vi calls Process.vi for every step.
Every step lasts 10 seconds,and has 10 seconds interval.
step1: from 0s->10s, aquire data;
delay 10s;
step2: from 20s->30s,aquire data;
I find that ,step2's data is from 10s->30s!
What is the problem ? Is there any error in CAN's use ?

Problems using MAX and PXI 8186 RT

I'm facing to problems using MAX
1) We have a 1GB switch in order to connect my PXI 8186 RT controller and the host PC, when i use this switch, and i try to access the cards plugged in the PXI card with MAX, MAX crash! When i use a 10/100 Mb switch everything is ok, i can access to the card without any problem ! I know the PXI 8186 controller is only fitted with a 10/100 Mb Ethernet card, but i think that must not be a problem , am i wrong ? Is this problem a known bug ??
2) I want to install all software used by my application on the host computer (in order to be able to reinstall the PXI8186 controller in case of a crash)! To do that i installed MAX 3.1.1, then all drivers NI-DAQmx 7.4, CAN2.2, VISA 3.3, and finally Labview RT 7.1 Embedded on my gost computer! After that i tried to download these software in the controller using MAX! The problem is these software are on the host computer (there are visible in system/ software) , but when i try to install them on the controller, max don't see them ! I tried to uninstall and re-install all software but no changes ... Is there a procedure or an order to install all these software ??? What should i do ???Hello,
The process to install software on RT controller is :
1/ Install LabVIEW Real-Time 7.1 on your host computer
2/ Install all driveres you need on your RT target
3/ On your host machine, in MAX, go to "remote targets"
4/ Expand "Software"
5/ Clik on "Install" button.
This application note will give you more details about above process.
Our controller is only provided with 10/100 MB network device. You have to check if you can configure your 1GB switch into 10/100 MB.

I have a client that uses Windows that has recently told me she can no longer open the PDFs I send her. I can't find this elusive "Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" setting that I have read may solve my problem. Can someone get me there?

It was from InDesign that I was creating the shared pdfs. I was one of two Mac drivers in a corporate sea of Win users and had to make the change I mentioned in order for the Win users to see my pdfs for review. The difference from what you appear to be doing was that were all on an MS Exchange Server so the files were shared over the company's Exchange Server e-mail system. However, some of these files occasionally went to outside users via regular e-mail and those people had no issues either.
So what I did was tested and worked for years.
You might look at the Adobe forums or Knowledge Base to see if that is a reported issue with newer version of CS. I was on CS2 when I was doing this, and the other Mac driver was on CS3 but had no problems either.
Some Win users I've talked to find a problem opening some pdfs (not mine) in general and found they had to open Reader first and them open the file from Reader's File menu. That most often happened if the client was using an outdated version of Reader. -

Can I close multiple output channels in parallel on one COM line using the PXI-2503
I want to fan out a power supply to four DUTS. During current testing, I will want to turn on one DUT at a time. During other tests, I want to power all four DUTS in parallel. This will require turning on four output channels at once in each mux bank. Can this be done using the PXI-2503?

4x6 2-wire mode should work fine. You can connect the power supply to one column, and the DUTs to each row. The rows can be connected to the column one at a time or all at once.

When clips won't play without rendering in the Timeline, it usually means that the clip's specs don't match the Sequence settings.
A .mov file could be made from any number of codecs; the QuickTime Movie designation is merely a container for video files of all kinds. Since FCE only works with the QuickTime DV codec and the Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) natively, if your mov files aren't one of those two, you need to convert them PRIOR to importing into your FCE project.

I have just installed Digital Editions 4.3 but am having poblems downloading digital books as I get an error message stating 'Error! Check Activation'. I have Windows 7 and didn't have any problems using the previous version of Digital Editions. Can anyone advise?

I reset the password. As you instructed, but that was not enough to solve the problem.
To solve the problem I also did the following:
For my user name I included @me.com., but I'm not sure that made any difference.
I think the key to solving this was that I pushed past the error I got on the Outgoing Mail Server window. I wasn't sure I should do that but I was desperate:
Next I got this window and checked SSL.
That was it!
Finally I went into account preferences and checked the outgoing mail server settings to be sure the server port was correct. It was.

I believe they discontinued all mobile.me accounts yesterday. It's been in the planning for a long time with lots of notification. I believe you can still get access to the e-mail from Tiger but you'd need to browse past discussions on this forum for details on how.
