Problem using contact groups in email

I have created a GROUP of contacts with the Contacts application. There are 21 emails in this group. I am using Postbox as my email client. When I go to create an email and select this group for the TO field, it only puts in 19 of the 21 people in the group ommiting 2 people. Their emails are correct so I am nt sure what the heck is hapening. Any suggestions?

Hello Annie,
Drag it from Address Book to Mail's BCC: field, or just type the name of the Smart Group there.
PS. It's usually considered very bad form to use the To: or CC: fields for multiple addies.

Problem with contact list in email w/ 3.0

After upgrading to 3.0 I'm having a problem with the "To" in emails. I start typing in a name in the "To" field and it does not bring up matching entries in my contact list (it used to do so with the previous version SW).
I have to try to send the email at which time an error message comes up. I have to cancel the send, delete the name in the "To" field and type the name in again. The second time it brings up the contact list and eveything works fine.
Anyone else having this problem?

Try viewing your contacts with the steps below! Hope this helps!
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
Touch Contacts.
Press the Menu button.
Touch Display group.
Select the contact group to display (i.e. All contacts, Favorites, Google, Phone Contacts, etc.).

Problem using Detail group region

Hi Guys,
I'm having problems using a detail group container. The problem is that when the detail group is placed in the detail region group, there is no button under that group to add a new row to the group. Is this a bug in JHS or have I done something wrong?
The reason I'm using the container is that I want selective rendering of detail groups depending on the state of an item in the parent group.

I could reproduce both problems. To fix the problem with the New button, you can change the content of the tableGroupButtons.vm template:

To fix the issue with the roles check, you can enter the rendered expression that is missing in the rendered property of the group region.

Problem using a group which has a space in it's DN when using LDAP Group mappings in UCS 1.4

Hey,
We've been implementing LDAP authentication (Active Directory) using LDAP group mapping in UCS 1.4, and we've noticed that when using a group which has a DN with a space in it (such as "UCS Admins") it wouldn't authenticate the user with the appropriate role.
Using a DN without spaces (such as "UCSAdmins"), works just fine.
I should mention that having a base DN with spaces works just fine as well, it's just the group mappings that doesn't work.
I should also mention that Cisco's "Quick guide to configuring ldap for ucs 1.4" shows an example in which the group's DN doesn't include a space.
Is there a workaround available which can make it possible using a group which has a space in it's name?

Thanks for your prompt reply.
We've tried putting quotes using UCSM which is not possible at all - not for the entire entry nor for the part with spaces.
We've also tried using CLI ("scope security/ldap/ldap-group") where you have to put quotes if you use a DN with spaces, and it still doesn't work. Furthermore, we tried adding quotes only to the part with the spaces, i.e. - CN="UCS Admins",OU=TEST,DC=TEST. It adds the entry without an error, but shows like we would use "CN=UCS Admins,OU=TEST,DC=TEST". Anyway, it doesn't work either.

How can I disable the Auto Recent Contact Group in email

The email app automatically selects a recent group of contacts instead of the primary contact. This is extremely frustrating and very strange, IMO. Why would the default be to list the group instead of the primary contact you are searching for first?
Example:
Compose New Email
Start typing a contacts name int eh To: field
the list Autopopulates with recently emailed groups before the main contact.
Is there a way to disable this "feature". I know I can "Remove from Recents" but this is actually very tedious.

If you only want to select from saved contacts, then tap the Plus ( + ) sign on the right of the address bar to bring up your actual contacts list instead of using this method.
You can still type a few letters into the search box at the top of the contact list to find your contact quickly.

How do I use contact groups to easily dial friends and fam

I set up groups (family/friends) in my address book MAINLY NOT to have to filter through every "Elizabeth" in my phone just to call my sister! Now, although I have a group of family and friends set up, I cant figure out how to utilize them (the groups) to quickly dial them...? If I type friends or family in the tool bar, nothing comes up.. or if I go to "Contacts" in my iphone (4S), tap the "Groups" button in the upper left corner, it brings me to a page listing
All iCloud
Friends
Family
untitled groups etc..
When I click on Family, it only "un checks" that group... ?
I cannot locate the group for easy access anywhere I try and am hoping someone smarter can help me out ASAP! I have just about given up on it, but it would make my life akabillion times easier as I am in sales and have akabillion and 5 clients in my phoe ...

ok, I did that... just realized that function . But what about for a client list... (i seperate them by zip code).
Do you know how I would do that? I literally have like, over 500... ! Would make it so easy to label the groups by zip so I can easily pull up thier call list.... I downloaded an app to try to help but it is even more confusing (I wish I were more technically educated, so sorry ...)

I have created a function (StatePerRecord) that is displayed under the Details section to evaluate each records' state:

I also have group section based on Record ID that groups the state record. In the header of the group footer I need to define summary function (StateSummary) such that
highest state from the state records should be the output here (excluding "NA" state). Here are the priorities:
Highest - Failed
Lowest - Passed
I want to use the StateSummary in a graph to show the Summarized State per Record ID.
I used Running Totals in my StateSummary function but I cannot see the field in the Chart expert.
P.S. I use Crystal Reports 10 Professional

Object (when acting as a map) uses toString() as a poor man's hashcode implementation, so you can get more-or-less the behavior you want by implementing the toString() method in your CIDate class and then storing the instances in an Object (rather than a Dictionary).
E.g., say your CIDate looks like this:
          public class CIDate {
            public var num:Number
            public function CIDate(num:Number) { this.num = num }
            public function toString():String { return num.toString(); }
You can use toString() as a comparison operator by keeping things in an Object instead of a Dictionary:

Problem using choice group

I am developing a project on quiz.
I have to show question and 4 options in one screen.also I want that the radio buttons(choice group)for the options should be selected by up down keys only.For using up down keys I have to extend canvas.if I extend canvas then how can I place my question and radio buttons?

You can't use the ChoiceGroup on a Canvas. You'll have to make your own menu widget.
Another option would be to display first the question on a form with a Command "Answers" and then when the Command is pressed you switch to a List (with List.IMPLICIT set as the type).

Problem Using Inner Group Name

In my report design, I have 4 groups level created and all of them are based on Account number. Its like group and subgroup structure.
All I wanted to do is , I want to supress the Footer of Inner most group(group 4) based on the group name.
for example if the group4 name ="something" I need to supress group 4 footer section.
I tried to put the above condition in Supress formula of group4 footer section. its not working.
On the formula editor I choose the group4 name field avaiable under Report fields. Its comes as
GroupName ({@Account Number}) in to the formula ( There is not mention of which group name its refers to).
So by default its apply the formula on the outter most group name(group 1). So my condition fails.
Please help me.

Send PO vía external email using contact person information

Hi,
I am trying to send the PO to the vendor via external email. The problem is that the customer is already using field email in vendor master data for other purposes.
The requierement is to use contact person´s email or another business partner´s email to send the vendor the purchase order when it is save.
I´ve done all customizing on output determination.
Something I might be missing? Can this be done?

I have been doing some tests and the po determines the business partner - contact person in tab message, also when I save the PO status for the external email is set on green. If I go to transactions SOST is there when the email never is send.
Why is this happening? I have done test with the email on vendor master and the po is sent, therefore is not a problem with the server sending emails.
Is there a way I can get the po sent? Please suggest.

Am I missing something with Contact Groups on iPhone?

I cannot create Contact Groups natively on the iphone
I cannot use contact groups to create emails
I cannot use contact gropus to create group iMessages (or txts)
Are they purely used as an organizational tool for the address book/contacts on my iphone?
I can do all of the above on my computer or on the web based icloud (which is also oddly unavailable natively on the iphone) but I cannot do any of the above on my phone.
Am I missing something? A preference in my settings somewhere?
Seems like a huge misstep somewhere.

You can provide feedback to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback. Groups has always been an issue with the iPhone. There has been a number of posts about an app in the App store, however I believe it is a paid app. Check over to the right of the thread under More Like This and see if you can locate that.

6233 contact group system sucks

I don't know about you, or the people at Nokia, but I use contact groups primarily for sending a single message to multiple recipients.
Create message (be it sms, mms, voice or e.mail), select which contact group it is to go to, and it goes.
Simple, straight forward, intuitive.
In every phone I've ever had this is how it's worked.
So why does the Nokia 6233 demand I confirm which number I want to use for each and every member of a contact group?
Why?!!
Why break something that was working fine?
I'm not an idiot, I've selected which number I want to be the default for each contact in the address book, why can't it have a selectable setting to automatically use the default number?
IS IT REALLY THAT HARD!
What precisely are contact groups supposed to be used for now? what good are they?
And are Nokia intending to fix this in an imminent firmware upgrade or am I going to buy an SE k800i

Please check if the contacts disappear there when you sign in with Lync 2010.

Contact Groups....again....

It's been 14 years of nothing but blackberry for me. Currently use a 9930, as does everyone in my company. While I find it impossible to believe my use is so unique compared to others, let me highlight the significance of my concern by setting the table about my use. I receive approx 400-500 e-mails per day. 95% of those e-mails are web generated leads. 100% of those web generated leads are forwarded by me to various contact groups (created locally in outlook and synched wirelessly through bes to my 9930 device). The contact groups consist of teams across the country that follow up on the web leads, and range in size from 5 - 30 contacts. My workflow....my company's workflow....everything we on a minute-by-minute basis....revolves around the ability to use contact groups.
I have not taken the plunge to either the Z or the Q. As things stand now, doing so would ruin my business because of the removal of the contact groups feature. My only options at this point seem to be to either stick with the 9930 and hope things turn around for blackberry (and my 9930 doesn't break as the devices are no longer sold in stores and my provider, Verizon, is now holding new ones for insurance replacement claims), or switch to the iPhone, which has an app called MailShot Pro that offers the distribution list functionality I need (the android system does not seem to have an equivalent of MailShot Pro).
I have read about this issue at least half a dozen times on this forum. Clearly this is a function others want...and need. I have seen J. Sanders respond to many of the discussions on this issue, with one of the more recent discussions quoting a chat he had with someone from blackberry who said that this functionality was "on the roadmap"...or something to that effect.
And so I am asking...since I read about releases that have come out and others that are coming out...none of which add (return) this functionality....can anyone clarify with some measure of definition if and WHEN this function is returning? I appreciate that it's "on the roadmap"...but I don't know if that means 3 months or 5 years. Given that my company's livelihood literally revolves around contact groups, the issue is nothing short of critical for me.
I know blackberry is going through the pains of trying to re-define itself. I appreciate that this operating system is brand new and will take time to "perfect". But it's extremely difficult to understand why something like this would be removed. At this point, I don't really care why.....I'm just hoping someone here who's in-the-know can shed some light on whether and WHEN this is coming back.

Perhaps you have misunderstood the purpose of these forums. This is a user-to-user community of volunteers trying to help each other out. It is not a channel for any formal communications with, escalations to, nor support from BlackBerry.
Hence, the answer to your question there is no -- unless you happen to become the lucky recipient of the occasional posts from formal BB folks. But, if I were you, I'd not expect that, especially given the content...they hardly ever reveal any forward looking information here on this site (for, after all, to do so would also be a technical violation of the Ts and Cs of the site).

N95 Contact Groups with iSync

Hi there,
I have done some searching around and can only find old posts on this and was wondering if this had been sorted since.
I have a Macbook and I use contact groups in my Address Book. I would like those contact groups to be created on my n95 address book when I use iSync.
Can this be done? Also, if it can be done with a special program please tell me as I will happily install something to get this to work.

Hi Stephan.
I found that iSync had errors when syncing that was stopping it refreshing the groups successfully.
1. Open Applications > Utilities > Console.
2. Open iSync and try and sync
Look in the console log and see if it comes up with any entries with error or failure in them. In my case I had an error that a directory did not exist and this was causing iSync to lock up when it came to refreshing groups from Addressbook. My error is reproduced below.

In my case, I created the directory mentioned which stopped the error occurring. For some other reason when I sync'd next I had duplicate contact groups - but one of the duplicates was empty. I was then able to delete the duplicates in AddressBook and sync my desired group to my phone.
If iSync works correctly, you should only receive one line in the log after syncing if there are no changes e.g.
2006-05-30 12:38:37.709 iSync[339] we receive the end of our sync plan
This may or may not help in your situation.
