Problem using CSS in Flash MX 2004

While working through a tutorial using Flash MX 2004 and CSS
StyleSheets, publishing the page produces the error below each time
I attempt to publish the page and I am unable to continue. There
doesn't seem to be a problem with the code, and the TextField.as
file is in the location where this error indicates that it is not.
Can anyone help?

I found the problem!!
While exploring the Fireworks MX 2004 folder located under
"C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Macromedia\"
folder I discovered that this folder was empty. So, I connected the
old hard drive and investigated the contents of the corresponding
folder on that drive. Discovering the wide assortment of files and
folders in that folder, I simply copied the contents of that folder
to the Fireworks MX 2004 folder and retried running the application
and IT WORKED!
Thanks for all your communications and in depth
troubleshooting steps, I will keep them in may Application
troubleshooting Tool Tips for future reference. I have included the
actions used here which brought about the successful resolution of
this issue so that if you'd like you might include them in any Help
Desk Methods you may have. It was truly a collaborative effort
because I would not have thought to explore the Application Data
folder to resolve this issue without you pointing me in that
direction.
Thanks again!

  • Sizing photo's in Photoshop to use in Macromedia Flash MX 2004

    Am trying to create a gallery for webpage using Macromedia Flash MX 2004, have imported photo's into library and got the Flash gallery to publish.  But am concerned as the flash .swf file is only 273kb with 20 images in it, the existing gallery file I am wanting to replace is approximaately 2.5mb.
    I was advised to downsize each photo to 300x200 pixels which seems to fit the display in the flash file.  Thought maybe I am doing something wrong in Photoshop when I am resizing each photo from original 3 or 4 mb photo down to the 300x200 pixel size.  Any clues out there?

    I really know nothing about Macromedia Flash, but since no one has given any responses my thought is that if doing an action you need small pictures so they will load quickly.
    If you resize save as new image so the quality images are not destroyed.  If you have a lot of pictures to resize check out Bridge/tools/photoshop/image processor.

  • Old non-CSS site. Problems using CSS now.

    I have a site that was built with GoLive years ago. It has
    TONS of e-commerce form/store stuff on most of the pages. I quit GL
    a few years ago and moved all my sites over to DW CS3. It wasn't
    super smooth, but I eventually got it setup as a DW site and went
    on with it.
    Then CSS came in, and I learned how to build sites with it.
    My problem is that this old site (www.webriggingsupply.com) is a
    mess of inconsistency with fonts, font sizes, etc. On a page,
    within one table of store data, there might be 2 different fonts,
    and 3 sizes, when all should be the same font/size.
    Due to the sheer number of pages and tables, there is simply
    no way I can start over with a new site.
    I tried to use CSS to style the new site, but the old
    attributes are still in place.
    Any suggestions? I could copy/paste a page into a new site,
    but how do I strip out all the old font formatting? I tried it, and
    it comes in the new site just like the old site? I'm
    stuck!!!

    To remote deprecated code and other tags from legacy sites, I
    use a handy
    little extension called Tag Stripper 2.1 which runs from the
    Command menu in
    DW.
    It quickly removes unwanted <tables>, <fonts> and
    other tags in one pass...
    You can download it here (scroll down; it's 3rd from the
    bottom):

  • Problems using third party Flash plug-ins for Captivate 4 content

    I'm using a few Flash CS4 plug-ins (Control VR, 3D Carousel XML) that work perfectly well in Flash.
    However, when importing the animations into Captivate 4, numerous cryptic errors occur which seem to be related to the XML file.
    Do I need to do anything different when importing Flash animations that include XML data? The XML files are all in the same folder as the Flash movies and the Captivate file, but it still doesn't work.
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi Kevin,
    Because this is a commercial plug-in and therefore I cannot test it without purchasing the component. I would recommend that you report this issue to the Adobe Captivate team and send them the both the source CP file and the component. Although I have had some success in getting XML code recognized by CP there could be many reasons why the XML code from this component is not being intrepreted.

    I connected to the container console using "zlogin -C f714clone" but this just gives me a blank screen with no output and unable to do anything.
    I used a different archive from a V120 and had no problems.
    Is there something I need to configure for a Ultra 60.
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve.

    I got this to work. It seems, for whatever reason, that it doesn't like the '-u' flag for an Ultra 60. I installed using '-p' instead and it was fine, it even came up with the new IP I had assinged.

  • Redraw problems with css and flash

    Hi! 2 bad bugs in Safari 1.3.1:
    http://www.reghellin.com/portfolio_clientside01.html
    If you scroll down the page and than scroll back up, you can see some really bad bug in redrawing the page header (menu, banner...).
    http://www.reghellin.com/portfolio/pop_drawing.html
    if you click start, you can see that the the flash is REALLY slow. In tha flash I use about 15 movieClips, than is all actionScript.
    I usually test my works on Explorer 5 and 6 (pc) and Firefox (pc and mac). Safari is the only browser that have these problems. Why? Is there any solution?
    Sorry for my bad english.
    Hi!

    I tested both pages in Safari 2.0.3, and while the drawing was slow, I did not see any rendering bugs / glitches.
    I also had Activity Monitor open during testing, so I could see the CPU usage. Suprisingly Safari only consumed 30% of the CPU while running the drawing test.
    I also tried to run the drawing example in Firefox (1.5.0.3), but it crashed.
    What is the versionnumber of your Flash plug-in? Latest release is 8.0.24.
    Did you export the Flash for Flash 7 or 8?
    You can also try another WebKit based browser like OmniWeb, to check if the problem is related to WebKit or Safari itself.

    Can anyone tell what the issue is?

    oh, and also missing <head></head> - I think you
    need to create a New File,
    check what's missing and add it to your page.

  • Using CSS With id=form1:txtbox1

    Author: Mike12779 Sep 7, 2004 5:27 PM
    I am having a problem using CSS with the id's that JSF creates for the components on my page. After specifying an id="txtbox1", the rendering of the page changes my id to "form1:txtbox1". This is giving me problems applying styles to that element by ID. Please let me know if there is a way around this besides having unique classes for the css.

    you can use styleClass or style instead of id.
    For example,
    .text1 { font-size: 14px }
    <h:outputText styleClass="text1" />
    or
    <h:outputText style="font-size: 14px" />
    *NOTE:  the 'style' at JSF is similiar to 'style' in CSS

  • CSS in flash question

    I am using css in Flash to style the content of a html text
    box. I have it all working, except, if I use "fontWeight: "bold" "
    or "fontStyle: "italic" " the text that was styled disappears. Why
    is this happening and what can I do about it?
    My styling looks like this:
    var cssStyles:TextField.StyleSheet = new
    TextField.StyleSheet();
    cssStyles.setStyle(".h1", {fontSize: "14", fontWeight:
    "bold", color: "#OOOOOO"});
    cssStyles.setStyle("a", {fontStyle: "italic"});
    A second issue I am having is that I have a paragraph, inside
    with I use the <br> for a return. Somehow everywhere I do
    this, the returned next line get indented a little bit. How can I
    avoid this from happening?
    Thanks a lot!

    Are you loading your text dynamically? One way around this is
    to import an html file and use <strong> and <em> tags
    with render as HTML turned on via AS. I only use CSS in Flash to
    control size and color. Beyond that, I find it moody and
    annoying.

  • Problem using a Flash MX 2004 Progress Bar Component within a Movieclip

    I'm try to setup a progress bar to show the percentage loaded
    of a mp3 audio file using the Flash MX 2004 Progress bar component.
    I can get the progress bar to the work normally by the having the
    component on the stage (not in a movie clip) with the component set
    to:
    mode: polled
    source loader
    with the following actionscript on the layer above:
    pBar.setStyle("themeColor", 0xFF0000);
    var loader:Object = new Sound();
    loader.loadSound("http:/www.mywebsite.co.uk/mymp3.mp3",
    true);
    But I won't to put the preloader inside a Movie Clip (the
    movie clip is called 'content_MC') as the website has alot of
    content. When I do this the mp3 file still streams but the Progress
    Bar doesn't work.
    I think I just need to change the action script so that it
    links with the component telling it to calculate the progress of
    the audio streaming file.
    Am I right? Where am I going wrong?

  • Pixelation problems occurs in my videos when using adobe flash but using chromes pepper flash no problemes so its definitely adobe problems on my WIndows 8.1

    pixelation problems occurs in my videos when using adobe flash but using chromes pepper flash no problemes so its definitely adobe problems on my WIndows 8.1

    Problem is:
    Flash Player for IE11 (which is the worst browser ever developed - BAR NONE) is a Microsoft product, when it comes right down to it.
    Adobe writes the base code and yes, they do collaborate on updates for it, but the gang in Redmond alter the plug-in and add "proprietary" code before embedding it, and at that point it's "their baby".
    There are two (2) registry keys - 1 for 32 bit IE and the other for 64 bit IE, as well as a KB patch that prevent all but the most experienced Windows users from ever touching the Flash Player plug-in for IE. So there's NO WAY you could have done a clean install of the ActiveX plug-in in Windows 8. Unless you're an uber-geek, you can only update it through Windows Update.
    WIn 8 is an abomination and IE11 made it worse. IE has always been the "problem child" of browsers, failing to handle CSS, Javascript, some PHP and most design "tweaks" that good webmasters can use with other browsers, trouble free.
    I have IE8 on XP, 9 on VIsta, 11 on 7, 10 on 8 and 11 on 8.1... but they're all for testing only. I'd have to be out of my mind to ever think of using IE as my primary browser. ActiveX controls have to be disabled formost stuff and that opens millions of security holes in IE.
    You've got a good video card and a decent sound card. It's a shame to waste them on a pile of garbage like IE, just because it came with Windows.

  • Problem regarding the creation of Table using CSS.

    Hi ,
    Here I have a Problem regarding the creation of Table using CSS.
    In My Application i have a table with multiple rows(Rows are Dynamically added to the table).First i am setting the table with the following properties:
    width:900px;
    height : auto,
    Overflow : visible,
    Max-height: : 200px.
    If I use above properties,I'm getting a table with 5 or 6 rows(height upto 200px).After that i am getting the Vertical ScrollBar.
    The problem is when a table has many columns, Vertical and Horizontal Scrolls are coming at the time of setting the table. The table height is not Increasing dynamically.
    How can i use "height" property in CSS? (I want the table height to be increased when the columns are more.)
    Thanks & Regards

    Hey humble user. Errr I'm trying to understand what ur trying to do. U want to create a section of a region destructively from an existing region right? If so select the option convert to new region (opt-comm-R or selecting it by right clicking). Check your audio bin to make sure. Whats the "merge" function? Are u refering to the glue tool?

    I am using CSS and Javascript to display a div with an

    I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and is
    there something I can do to prevent this from occurring?
    To be more specific, I have a single HTML page with 8 flash

    using CSS and Javascript to display (via a numbered link (with an

    Actually, it has been able to handle most of the CSS 3
    selectors since
    MX 2004, but it doesn't recognize these:
    E[foo^="bar"]
    E[foo$="bar"]
    E[foo*="bar"]
    E ~ F
    Since they're all supported by IE7, Firefox, Opera 9.5, and
    Safari 2,
    there's a good argument for Dreamweaver to start supporting
    them. Why
    don't you submit a formal feature request to Adobe?
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    There are several others not yet supported by Dreamweaver,
    but browser
    support for them is non-existent, too. The four listed above
    are the
    most important.
