Problem using File or URL ....

i completly formatted my computer , before i did the format for instance whenever i instantiate a
File f = new File("testInput.txt");that worked and i could do ouputstream or what ever but now i have to put the complete path .e.g
File f = new File("c:\\test.txt");please help...

coz putting the complete path reduce java's power of platform independenceno, there is no danger. this phenomenon is completely local to
just you.
File file = new File("file.txt");
Always works. And it always find the file "file.txt" in the working directory.
Try this, print:
new File(".").toAbsolutePath();
And make sure your working directory is what you think it is.

  • Problem using File sharing  in a small office network

    I have a problem using File sharing on an Imac and Macbook Pro.
    My office has a small network running Windows Small office file server 2003. I have one Windows 2000 PC connected to it and 3 Macs, an 2.4 gHz Intel iMac running Leopard 10.5.6 , a MBP running the same and a Mac Mini running 10.5.
    From the Finder Shared window of the Mac Mini, I can see all the computers on the network. It also used to be the case for the iMac, but the MBP could never see the Windows PC’s, not the server or the Win2000. This wasn’t a big problem as I was communicating between the Macs and using the shared printer on the iMac.
    On Monday Jan 19 the iMac was suddenly unavailable to the other 2 Macs. It was working normally on the Friday. The iMac can access the Mac Mini and copy files to it. The Mac Mini can see the iMac but cannot access it. Even trying to connect as, ends in a failed connection. I have tried rebooting, turning File sharing off and then on again to no avail.
    The iMac now also cannot see the Windows PC’s which it previously could.
    To get files from the MBP for printing, I now copy it to the Mac Mini and acces the folder from the iMac, a very tedious procedure. I don’t know why this happened and am scared that the Mac Mini is going to do the same thing.
    All three computers are also running VMware 2.0 with Windows XP pro, and from VMware the server is visible on all the computers.
    Any help will be much appreciated, I live in a small town in South Africa and the local computer suppliers have no knowledge of the Macs.
    I think that the problem with the iMac may have started after a software upgrade to 10.5.6 but I am not entirely sure.
    Thank you
    ajdk

    Well, you're current method sounds pretty good. But if you want to user a file server, hey go ahead.
    What you want to do when you centralize project files is to keep track of which one is the newest and becareful not to overwrite files with the same name. So you either have to set up individual spaces on the server (separate AFP/FTP folders maybe), or you'll need to run a file checkout service.
    The individual space is cheaper, but it's not much of a difference from backing up to the network drive. Since you have Gigabit connections, you might even opt to save ALL the user files on the server instead of just the project files.
    If you want to run a file checkout service, there's two approaches. You can run a service that can host any kind of file, or you can run a version control system for each kind of application (Photoshop, Word, etc.). Please notice, that as you read further and further along, the methods become more and more expensive and complicated. Once you get to this point, it will be necessary to purchase or build software in addition to the Mac OS X Server package.

  • Problem using File upload in portlets

    hello there
    I'm trying to use file upload component in one of my portlets. I searched a lot about a working component to be used in portlets since the standard one that comes with JSC doesn't work in portlets. I managed to get commons file upload and tomahawk to run in my portlet, but when I choose a file and try to get selected file's details it throughs a NullPointerException reporting that the file object is null.
    so please can anyone guide me to a working portlet example, I tried to find one but I couldn't. if that's hard to find, what should I do ?
    thank you in advance

    I added file upload component in JSF from portlets in Sun Java Portal server.
    Take a look...

  • Problem using file based JNDI with JMS Bridge, WL 6.1sp3

              I am trying to connect an MQ queue to a Weblogic JMS queue using the JMS bridge,
              WLS6.1sp3. I have the CR081404_61sp3.jar and CR081511_61sp3.jar patches.
              I am having trouble getting the bridge to look up the MQ queue in the file based
              JNDI. According to the log it is trying to use a weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory
              instead of a com.sun.jndi.fscontext.RefFSContextFactory, which is what it is configured
              to use. I am getting the following error:

    CR081511_61sp3.jar patch should fix the problem. Make sure that the
              jar file is picked up. It should be put before other weblogic jar files.
              You should be able to tell if it is picked up by looking at the first
              couple of lines of your server log file.

  • Problem using regex for url

    Heres the problem im trying to match
    <b>Heres my text</b>
    and using this pattern
    Pattern rnpattern = Pattern.compile(".+rel-.+html.+id=.+>(.+)</a>.+");
    and I'm having to matches returned at all. Its actually pulling a full text file and running the pattern on a CharBuffer, but I dont think thats the issue. I have 2 other patterns being run the same way in the same file and theres no problem with them. I know the pattern is not optimized at all, Ive gone through about 15 different iterations of trying different combinations to try and get a match, and this is the last one I tried. the numbers in the url such as this one being 3533 change so that cant be static. And the text such as "Heres my text" changes and thats what I want to capture. If anyone could lend any assistance I would appreciate it.

  • Problem using file sharing and screen sharing in Leopard

    I have Mac OS 10.5 Leopard installed on 4 computers in a Home Network and have a problem with sharing files and using screen sharing. Here is my setup.
    MacBook Pro with my logon ID
    MacBook Pro with my fiancee's logon ID
    Mac Mini with both of our logon ID's
    Mac Pro with both of our logon ID's
    The problem I have is I am able to access the Mac Mini computer where we have an external Hard Drive connected for data. She is also able to access it. The only problem is we have it set up to only share this external USB drive. Yet for both of us it shares the external drive along with the internal Macintosh HD. Fortunately this is not a very big deal but since I'm not sharing all those drives why is it doing this?
    Also, I am able to connect from the Mac Mini for example to my MBP and vice versa for screen sharing along with file sharing. Yet if she tries to connect to the Mac Pro from her MBP and vice versa it won't. It simply times out and will never connect for screen sharing or file sharing but yet the Finder shows the Mac Pro. We have a 2nd hard drive in the Mac Pro which is the one set up for file sharing. I am also unable to connect to the Mac Pro's HD. Everything appears to be set up correctly. For my MBP on the Finder it shows the Mac Pro but once again I am unable to connect to it for screen sharing or file sharing.
    Also, not sure if it's related but even for her MBP she is unable to connect to it from any other computer in our network although it's set up for file sharing and screen sharing so I'm not sure if it's related to her logon ID. Then again as mentioned above neither of us can connect to the Mac Pro.
    I tried to make the above sound as simple as possible. I am relatively new to networking and of course Leopard but even on the Mac Pro all settings sound the same as on the Mac Mini where we can both connect to. The only big difference is on the Mini we are connect to a USB external drive, on the Mac Pro an internal drive. Is there something I could have overlooked or are there known issues with Leopard's sharing features?
    We both have .mac but since we are using this on an internal network (some wi-fi, some wired, all through an Airport Base Station Extreme) I would think this has nothing to do with Back to my Mac.
    I appreciate any help with the above.

    FaceTime doesn't do any of that, so I'll assume you mean Messages.
    From the Messages menu bar, select
    Video ▹ Connection Doctor
    In the window that opens, select
    Show: Capabilities
    There should be a checkmark on the line with the words "1-on-1 video chat." Select
    Show: Network Status
    You should have two green dots.
    Make sure that you and the other party meet the applicable requirements shown in these support articles:
    Share your screen
    Requirements for audio chats, video chats, and screen sharing

  • Problem using File.rename( )

    I'm having trouble with the following code. In certain situations the renameTo(tmpFile) fails. The problem only occurs on UNIX (Solaris and AIX) and only occurs if f.getFilename( ) returns a filename not located in the directory from which the VM is running. If I run on NT it doesn't matter where the file specified by f.getFilename( ) resides, there are no problems. Does anyone know what the problem is or a way to get around it? Thanks in advance!
    java.io.File tmpFile = new java.io.File("jasontemp.xml");
    boolean fileOpRes = false;
    if (tmpFile.exists( ))
    fileOpRes = tmpFile.delete( );
    java.io.File oldFile = new java.io.File(f.getFilename( ));
    boolean result = oldFile.renameTo(tmpFile); // This is the call that fails

    I haven't used Solaries and AIX for years now, but if I remember correctly, the mv command (used to rename a file) requires a path in the destination if the source contains a path. If this is correct, you may have to add the path to tmpFile to accomplish the same thing.

  • Problem using image via URL

    Hi everybody
    I have a problem with loading images via URL into my PDFs.
    I am using LCD ES2 Version 9.0.1....
    I want to create a PDF which loads images from the internet but it does not work.
    So far I have tried to add an image or image field to my PDF in the LCD and populate that image using the Object-->Field-->URL: palett. I put the URL in there like this http://www.adobe.com/imageshome/pdfgift_home.gif , tick the "embed image Data" checkbox (also tried with without that just to be sure) and save as Dynamic PDF (I also tried static) but when I open the PDF in adobe reader 9 or 10 or acrobat  9 there is no image showing. I also put the image in a subform and made that subform flowed, as well as the page itself and made the binding global.
    I have the form properties - default set to "Acrobat and Adobe Reader version 9.0 or higher", Default Language to JavaScript, PDF Render format to Dynamic PDF.
    I also tried using JavaScript events like "form:ready ImageField2.value.#image.href = "http://www.adobe.com/imageshome/pdfgift_home.gif" as discribed here http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/tips/lc_dynamic_images.pdf but that also does not work.
    What am I missing?
    Any help would be great and greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks and best regards
    Norbert

    As far as I can tell, this use case is not allowed because of cross site references related security concerns. The form can refer to the images stored on the same server from where the PDF is served, but the images cannot come from external servers.

On my imac I can get to the Drop Box folder through File Sharing, but when I try to open the Drop Box folder I get this error message "The folder “Drop Box” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." What do I need to do to be able to open the Drop Box folder? Where do I need to go to change the permissions so that I can open the Drop Box folder?
    Thanks in advance,
    George

    The easiest way is when you connect, connect as the admin user and you'll be able to access the entire user folder (and more). So (depending on the version of OS) select "connect as..." then put in the username and password of the user you are connecting to (so the details of the eMac you are connecting to). This should allow you to access the entire user folder.
    If you select any folder or file, then press command+i (or 'get info' from the file menu in finder), it will launch a window with more info about the file/folder. At the bottom of the window you have "sharing and permissions" - in here you can (after unlocking with admin username and password) add permissions for your user.
    The dropbox is usually used to transfer to a machine - so you'd generally use it to drop something from anywhere on your eMac into the dropbox on the iMac, and then you can recover it from the dropbox on the iMac. The permissions are set so anyone from the outside can only write to this folder.

  • Problem using file content conversion

    I want to generate a input message with no recordset and root element
    It just contains one element like below:
    <line>AI0 AXXX-001 20089830 120</line>
    <line>AI0 AXXX-002 20089830 120</line>
    What properties I need to setup in file content conversion to get this format message?
    The data inside <line> comes from a txt flat file.
    Please help
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi,
    Root element can be ignore  by using FCC property Recordset Name i.e ignoreRecordsetName: true
    If you set the parameter to true, the <Recordset> element is not inserted.
    Recordset Name defines the root node under which rest of the XML will be created.  If not required ignore.
    As Recordset Structure is a mandatory parameters, So I'm not sure how you ignore it.

  • Small problem using File.isDirectory()

    Hi
    I have a quite possible dumb question..
    How to get a parent file(directory) from a given class, not knowing before runtime where that class is located...
    The folowing code should give the parent directory, but file.isDirectory() dont agree..
    take a look..
    This code
            root = new File(getClass().getResource(getClass().getName()+".class").getPath()).getParentFile();
            System.out.println(root);
            System.out.println("Absolute: "+root.isAbsolute());
            System.out.println("File    : "+root.isFile());
            System.out.println("Dir     : "+root.isDirectory());prints this:
    F:\docs\java%20projects\testFileCopy\build\classes
    Absolute: true
    File    : false
    Dir     : falseI dont really know what is going on, but as long as it dont recognize the file as a dir, then i cant get the files in the dir... and i need those...
    By the way - the path: F:\docs\java%20projects\testFileCopy\build\classes is the right path to the dir...

    sigh
    "Getting the directory of the class file" is almost
    without exception, always, always, always, a
    mis-design on the part of the one thinking he/sheChill lol
    "directory" for the class file then. Do you want to
    make your app only work when it is installed as a
    bunch of loose .class files in the file system, or
    would you rather make it more flexible?Not actually the question that was axed, but you have a point.
    It is much more flexible if you quit thinking of
    the file system, and instead concentrate on
    "resources" loadable from the "classpath".I agree with this. You had me at hello

  • Problem Using File adapter(Urgent)

    Hi,
    I have a simple ESB service where I have one Read File adapter for reading a file and other Write file adapter to write the same file to a folder.
    I was able to deploy it to ESB instance successfully.
    But when I put a file to read ESB is throwing
    "OracleASjms/ESBDeferredTopic" error.
    Can any one please help me.
    Thanks
    Rao.

    We would be able to help you better if you provided the full error stack as this is very generic.
    Generally the most common issue with the file adapter is permissions, make sure the SOA suite owner is able to read and write on the directory and the file.
    otherwise post the error stack which may identify the real cause.
    cheers
    James

  • Problem using default HFM URL

    Hi,
    I have installed HFM 9.3 on a Windows 2003 server and when I go t the default URL (http://serve/HFM) all I get is a blank page with 'hfm' in the upper left corner. IIS 6.0 is installed and set to allow .NET and ASP. I don't have any issues with Shared Services for user management.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Iain

    Try url http://servername:19000/workspace to run workspace and locate hfm through there. Of course you should first make sure that Reporting services components are properly installed and configured.

  • Error while posting xml file to URL using URLConnection

    Hello everyone,
    I am facing an issue from long time related to URLConnection. If this would be resolved by your help then I would be very grateful to you.
    One application which posts xml file to URL hangs and after waiting for 5 mins it throws 504 error:
    java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 504 for URL: http:hostname.
    at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(HttpURLConnection.java:715)
    Same application is running fine without error on another environment from last 5 years. But on another env it is erroring out from the day 1.
    We have many workarounds in place none worked.
    I tried to use HttpClient from apache but that too hanged at URLConnection.getInputStream() method call.
    App is running on iPlanet web server 6.1 using JDK 1.4.0_03
    We still dont know why this program hangs at that particular line in only one env but many times it runs fine. That means 30% of the times it posts xml file without error but 70% times it errors out. So our program logic is to retry until post is successful.
    Once this issue is resolved we will remove the logic of trying again and agian.
    Please provide inputs.
    Thanks,
    Nitin

    The HTTP response 504 means that the server, acting as a gateway, has not received a response from an upstream server in the time it expected.
    I think this is problem is due to the remote server that receives the XML and takes too long to return a response to the local application that posted the XML.
    Try HttpClient and set the timeout variable of the HttpClient instance used.
    Here http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/jakarta/commons/proper/httpclient/trunk/src/examples/PostXML.java?revision=480424&view=markup
    a Post XML sample.
    NB: HttpClient > setTimeout method is deprecated. See : http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/apidocs/index.html for an alternative
    Hope That Helps

    I can not download any files using Safari ? when I choose to download application file the URL include the file name and stop responding. Any help??

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    *Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
