Problem Using GetNetText when accessing secured (https) sites

I have been having trouble getting GetNetText &
PostNetText to work with a secured (https) server. I need to
execute PHP files located on this server. I have heard of SecureNet
Xtra but before I try it I want to ask if there are other ways to
do this. Thanks in advance.

You should be able to access secure sites when running in
Shockwave but
not from a projector. Like you suggested, you'll need the
SecureNet xtra

  • Trouble accessing secure (https) sites

I recently installed Leopard and upgraded to 10.5.1.
I am now having trouble accessing most secure sites. I've tried the following:
-Used different browsers (Safari, Firefox, Flock)
-Emptied the cache (on all browsers)
-Turned off the Mac OS X Firewall
The problem persists on different routers/ISPs and I am able to access the site using a different computer (running Windows XP) on the same connection.
Again, it is most connections on secure servers, but there are odd exceptions (such as logging into this discussions forum).
    I appreciate your help.

The browser will immediately display a message stating that it cannot connect to the server, such as:
Safari can’t open the page “https://online.wamu.com/” because it can’t find the server “online.wamu.com”.
Other sites that give the same error:
    https://store.apple.com/
    https://login.byu.edu/
It shouldn't be a server related problem since I can access the same sites from other computers running Windows or Leopard on the same or different connection.

  • Can't Access Secure (HTTPS) Sites On One Account, FF or Safari???

    Hello Mac Fans
First let me say I'm new to Mac. On one account I can't access secures sites like I can in the admin account. This may be a function of rights but am not sure? All updates have been done.
I can't login to this forum, my MobileMe account or my bank for example. I had to change to my other account or gasp, use a PC to post this message.
I installed FireFox trying to isolate the problem to Safari but that didn't pan out, I can't get to HTTPS pages in FF either.
I turned off Little Snitch thinking I might have denied something by mistake but that didn't help. I checked the rules and found nothing that wasn't allowed.
Nothing was changed in the router. I just turned on Mac and it worked. The iMac is connected to the router via ethernet cable.
I've used the search function and tried a few things that have been recommended for others but they didn't help me. I went to the keychain and did a repair, although it didn't find any problem. I over rode a couple keys to always allow them (Apple site stuff) and I ran the disk utility to no avail.
For reference I will post the information for both Safari and FF.
    Safari:
Safari can’t open the page “https://support.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/ACAuthWeb.woa/wa/login?
    appIdKey=2ddbca23a85d20e5bf7478812379ae23&path=/login.jspa%3FsuccessURL%3D/index .jspa” because Safari can’t
establish a secure connection to the server “support.apple.com”.
Safari can’t open the page “https://www.mln'sbank.com/” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server
    “www.mln'sbank.com”.
Safari can’t open the page “https://auth.apple.com/authenticate?service=DockStatus&realm=primary-
    me&returnURL=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5tZS5jb20vd28vV2ViT2JqZWN0cy9Eb2NrU3RhdHVzLndvYS93YS9 0cmFtcG9saW5l&destinationU
rl=” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server “auth.apple.com”.
    FireFox:
    The connection was interrupted
The connection to support.apple.com was interrupted while the page was loading.
    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I've done a lot of snooping around on this forum and have ran out of ideas so now I must ask for help.
    Thanks

I think I may have found the problem. It's embarrassing to find it minutes after posting the message yet I tried to solve it off and on for three days! My brother who is a 20 year Mac user has been trying to help me too. I guess it's true what they say... sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. LOL
I turned off the parental controls. What I don't understand is that the no website restrictions box was checked. To me this means I should be able to go to any site I wanted. Can anyone explain why I couldn't got to a HTTPS page on a parental controlled account even though there were no restrictions placed on it?
It's late and I need sleep. I'll leave this open for now until I have more time to test it.

  • Can LabVIEW access an HTTPS site behind a proxy?

I have been trying to use LabVIEW to access an https site through our corporate firewall/proxy and have been unable to get it to work. Does anyone have any experience with this and or know whether this should be able to be done?
I have successfully been able to get LV to access websites (http and https) without going through a firewall and thanks to posts on these forums figured out how to access an http site through the firewall but have come up blank when trying any https sites. Below are some test cases I have tried. All of these sites are easily accessed via browsers so it isn't due to firewall/proxy iblocking.
    Any help would be appreciated,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I suspect the SSL handshake failing is getting close to the source of the problem.
We have the same proxy port (8080) for both http and https as far as I can tell. I have used wireshark to monitor the message flow and LV is doing something quite different than my browser does.
The browser opens a connection to the proxy (on port 8080) and then issues a CONNECT command to the proxy to access the ultimate location and then does a SSL handshake.
LabVIEW opens a connection to the proxy but then appears to be encrypting it immediately without a SSL handsake that I can see.
My speculation is that the underlying LabVIEW code is not really proxy aware and doesn't know how to issue a CONNECT command or equivalent. I'd be glad to be proven wrong with someone demonstrating this works for them (I've posted a sample VI in a previous post).
I can also post the wireshark message info if it would help anyone troubleshoot what is going on.

unfortunately the do_not_trust certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

  • I just upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and since the "lock" icon never appears when accessing secure websites, where should I look for it?

I just recently upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and now the "lock" icon doesn't appear anywhere (I can find) when accessing secure websites. I haven't seen it once. It used to appear in the lower right corner of the screen. I also have Norton Internet Security.

Padlock is no longer part of Firefox; it was removed beginning in Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection but does not supply additional information. You could have made a typographical error and still have been connected to a secure connection. The padlock was replaced in Firefox 3 with the Site Identity Button. • Why am I getting an error message,"windows can not find(my Yahoo mail launch address)"when accessing Yahoo mail site?

Using WindowsXP, and e-mail via Yahoo, browser is Firefox 4.0.I get the following error message when accessing yahoo mail site:"http://us.f831.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?action=welcome&yy=1782408664&.rand=0qrsdp1o...Windows can not find(the above address is inserted here).make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again". After this message is displayed on my desktop it begins to fade, and the inbox of my yahoo mail is then displayed..I am able to work all functions of the mail without problems.( I might add at this point that i access the mail program via a desktop icon). When I close out of the program the error message box with the error described above is displayed again on my desktop.I must click on the "X" to remove it.I can access my yahoo mail via Internet Explorer with no problem,as well as accessing via my yahoo home page.

Here's an image of the ERROR Message. I'm not sure how this forum works -- if this image is an attachment or if it shows up in the body of this reply.

  • Cannot access any https sites, clock is OK, get This Connection is Untrusted error message.

All works OK on Chrome and IE, but Firefox just suddenly stopped access to https sites yesterday, e.g. Google, Facebook and Linkedin. Non secure http sites are OK though. "This Connection is Untrusted" is the error message and technical details are www.google.com.tw uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer). I've tried all the Mozilla support suggestions, clock (which was always correct), reset Firefox, etc. No change so far, I hope you can help fix this issue.

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section.<br>If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

  • Can't use my custom claims provider when access to my site from external url

    Hi,
I just created a clean SP 2013 (15.0.4641.1000) environment and I have a site collection up and running with access from internal url (http://my_server_name/) and external url (http://cloudshare_external_url/).
When I access from internal url (with the local administrator account) I can add users to site groups:
But if I access from external url (with the local administrator account, too) the people picker does not work:
And if I put the email directly, I get the following error: "Sorry, you are not allowed to share this with external users"
What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something?

    Hi Sebasl,
Based on your description, my understanding is that the users cannot be resolved when accessing the site using external URL.
I recommend to check the authentication provider for the external zone of the web application to see if the custom claims provider is selected.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage web applications > highlight the corresponding web application and then click Authentication Providers in the ribbon > click the external zone.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Do I have to use certificates when writing an HTTPS server

I'm writing a client app and a server app. The client will connect to the server via HTTPS. A browser will never connect to this HTTPS server, just the client I have written. Can I skip the step of using certificates? I've been told it isn't a requirement. I just want SSL communication, that is all.
When I try to do this, I get a handshake error, "no cipher suites in common'' coming from the client. The client seems okay because I can get it to connect to other secure web sites.
So, certificates...must use in this case, or no?
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
I think you must use certificates if you want to do SSL communication.
When using Netscape Navigator or IE to access files on a server that only has DSA-based certificates, a runtime exception occurs indicating that there are
no cipher suites in common .
By default, certificates created with keytool use DSA public keys. Navigator and IE do not use DSA public keys in their enabled cipher suites.
To interact with IE or Navigator, you should create certificates that use RSA-based keys. To do this, you need to specify the -keyalg RSA option when using keytool. For Example:
keytool -genkey -alias duke -ketstore testkeys -keyalg rsa
    Hope this will help you.

    Anil.

  • OS X Lion access only HTTPS sites

Following latest (this past week) security update to OS X Lion, my browsers (both Safari and Firefox) will access only httpsaddresses, not http.   On my IPad, under IOS 7, and using the same network and service provider, I am able to access all Internet sites with no difficulty.  Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

  • How can I get the URL address of a secure https site to turn yellow

The older versions of Firefox would turn the URL of a secure website yellow when accessed. Even with poor eyesight, I found this easy to see. When I upgraded to version 3.6, this feature was gone. Some of you programming capable users were kind enough to provide me with a chrome.css routine that made 3.6 act the way I needed it to. Unfortunately, I've been forced to upgrade Firefox to version 16 and the chrome.css file that worked on 3.6 seems to have no effect on 16. Would someone please provide me with a way of getting Firefox 16 to turn the https addresses yellow.

That was a feature last used in Firefox 2.0 in 2006, a real long time ago ''(in software time.)'' This - http://www.dria.org/wordpress/archives/2008/05/06/635/ - explains the changes which came in Firefox 3.0.
The code used for the Address Bar was completely changed for Firefox 4.0, which is why the css you were using in Firefox 3.6 doesn't work any longer.
You could try looking for a "retro 2.0 style" Address Bar for that code, but I spent 15 minutes searching for a newer code and didn't find anything for 14.0 plus versions. ''Note that my search skills aren't the best.'' <br />

This is the closest I could find, but it isn't even close to what was used in Firefox 2.0. <br />
