Problem using Outlook Anywhere out of the office

Hello,
I have a problem getting my Microsoft Outlook (2007) to connect to my Exchange Server when i'm out of the office local network.
outlook Anywhere is enabled on the server, and everything is set correctly on the client.
I have ran outlook connectivity analyzer tool and this is what I got.
Testing RPC/HTTP connectivity.
  The RPC/HTTP test failed.
Additional Details
  Elapsed Time: 777 ms.
Test Steps
Attempting to resolve the host name mail.DOMAIN in DNS.
  The host name resolved successfully.
Additional Details
IP addresses returned: IPP ADDRESS
Elapsed Time: 14 ms.
Testing TCP port 443 on host mail.DOMAIN to ensure it's listening and open.
  The port was opened successfully.
Additional Details
  Elapsed Time: 253 ms.
Testing the SSL certificate to make sure it's valid.
The SSL certificate failed one or more certificate validation checks.
Additional Details
  Elapsed Time: 508 ms.
Test Steps
The Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer is attempting to obtain the SSL certificate from remote server mail.DOMAIN on port 443.
The Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer wasn't able to obtain the remote SSL certificate.
Additional Details
The certificate couldn't be validated because SSL negotiation wasn't successful. This could have occurred as a result of a network error or because of a problem with the certificate installation.
Elapsed Time: 472 ms.
I am sure we have a SSL certificate installed "one generated locally which means not one that's been bought", but it shows errors about being expired only when I'm at the office "local network", now that i'm out of the office i don't even
get the error anymore nor the login popup window and connectivity status to exchange server is "Disconnect"
how can I fix this? where to obtain an SSL, assuming that's why I'm unable to connect to exchange server.
could it be my Microsoft exchange proxy settings? I'm using mail.domain and msstd:mail.domain and basic authentication "exactly like in the exchange server settings"
-I'm able to connect to exchange on my iPhone/Android successfully.
Thank you in advance
Nouf
*i have tried uploading an image but i get this message, though I haven't received any confirmation email.

You must have a properly installed cert issued from a trusted CA for Outlook Anywhere to work.
The phone devices you mention historically have not done a good job of certificate validation which is why they connect but Outlook and Windows will verify that the cert is who it claims to be.
Read this:
http://exchangepedia.com/2007/08/outlook-anywhere-and-exchanges-self-signed-certificate.html
And follow the link in it to obtain a  cert from a trusted CA.

  • Sync Outlook though VPN while sales rep are out of the office

    Hi All,
Our sales reps and consultants are now using Outlook integration and they would like to sync it while they are out of the office through our VPN. Have you ever implemented a solution like this? is it actually possible in term of speed?
I'll really appreciate any help on this.
    Best Regards
    Hector

    Hi Hector
Yes it is possible. The best option is to use terminal services (remote desktop), but then the outlook files need to reside on the server and this would require some configuration, preferably Active Directory. Alternatively you could use the local outlook to update across the VPN, but speed would be an issue if you don't have good bandwidth. SQL would have to be configured to allow remote connections across the VPN as well.
    Kind regards

    Hi,
Step 1 :In addition to that , please use remote connectivity analyzer to check outlook anywhere in internet .
From that we came to know the exact error .
Step 2: Most of the organisations are having an ISA or TMG firewall to create web published rules for exchange services .In case if you have you need to check the rule created for outlook anywhere is properly configured or not.
If you have such kind of firewall's ,You can test the OA rule by using the option test rule in ISA or TMG firewall .
Most probably you can able to find out the exact cause with the help of EXRCA.
Please reply me if you have any queries.

If you are using Firefox to access web mail, you need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • Exchange 2007 : Users cannot add contact while using outlook anywhere

Hey guys, i have a client with Exchange 2007 (standalone), when a user is connected through Outlook Anywhere or Activesync and they try to save a contact they get a little popup saying exchange is unavailable, outlook needs to be connected.
    Any ideas on these error?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
In client side which is using Outlook Anywhere, please disable using Exchange Cached mode and restart Outlook to use Online mode. Then check whether the error occurs or not when saving a contact. Also do the test in OWA from external internet environment.
If the issue doesn't happen in Outlook Online and OWA, please create a new Outlook profile for this Outlook Anywhere user.

  • If I buy iphone 5 from Sprint ,  can i use GSM network out of the US ?

If I buy iphone 5 from Sprint ,  can i use GSM network out of the US ?

    hi there,
you could buy it somewhere in Europe. I know Apple sells them unlocked here in Germany and if I am not mistaken also (among others) in France and Italy.
Yet, as Peter wrote, the warranty can become a problem. Not sure whether a one country only rule goes for the European Community as well though.
As for the price, the 16 GB model costs 679,- € (equals roughly 550 £). Currently there is an average delivery time of 4 to 5 weeks.
LTE connections will not work with Orange or Vodafone. Only EE is about to offer a compatible LTE network. DC-HSPA and regular HSPA+ will work fine.

I will be out of the office starting 09/10/2001 and will not return until
    09/17/2001.
I will respond to your message when I return.

usually though; they are techs; and so geeky; that in windows they set themselves as admins with unlimited privaleges. So what they do is go to account setting and just delete your account; and when they delete; they will delete everything; and all your person files.
Most though; find that too troublesome; so they just reformat the drive with a backup they built; for that computer.
Most of the things you can do is deleting temporary internet files; and cookies; and any saved passwords on your account. Usually all found in options/tools in most web browsers. For windows; most files are on desktop; my music; my downloads; my documents; and etc.

  • I am unable to sync my Ipod touch with Outlook 2007, an operation I was able to do with no problem using Outlook 2002.

When I plug my ipod touch into my desktop computer to synchronise it, and in particular with Outlook 2007, I get the error message "Itunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services". Reconnect or try again. All appropriate boxes have been ticked where possible, the callendar and contacts boxes being greyed out and ticking not possible.  When using Outlook 2002 this box enabled sync to be carried out with Outlook without a problem.  I have uninstalled both Outlook and Itunes and reset my Ipod Touch but get the same results no matter what I do.  Apple claim that the Ipod touch is compatible with Outlook 2007 but it appears not to be the case. I am using the latest Ipod software of 4.2.1.  Can anyone help me.

Tough spot if you want Apple only SW, no idea where you can get where you want without some decent 3rd party SW, which as a rule outshines Apple's SW by light years.

  • Can't move "completed" items into folders using Outlook 2013 on a Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium Account using a work Exchange 2010 address

I've been in touch with several Microsoft support teams about this issue, and the latest move was to shove me off onto Pro support, but since I'm using a personal Office account, I'm hoping that through the community I can find a way to resolve this issue without
escalating through our IT department. I do not think this is an Exchange issues because I have previously used this product and method without resulting in this error on a Windows 7 32-bit AMD computer and a Windows 8 and 8.1 Professional 64-bit Intel computer.
    Here's my current specs:
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, service pack 1
    AMD A6-5400 3.6 GHz
    8GB RAM
    Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium
    Office updates automatically, version 15.0.4551.1512
About Outlook shows "Microsoft Outlook 2013 (15.0.4551.1511) MSA (15.0.4551.1508) 32-bit/Part of Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium"
Here's how to reproduce the issue:
    1) Open View Settings
    2) Select "Other Settings..."
    3) Disable "Use compact layout in widths smaller than XX characters" and enable "Always use single-line layout"
    4) Select "Columns..."
    5) Under "All Mail fields" add "In folder"
    6) Select any email
    7) Context-menu -> Find Related -> Emails in this Conversation
    8) Select "more"
    9) Sort by folder
    10) Select all messages from Inbox.
    11) Use Outlook's preset "Done" function and select a destination folder
    12) Watch Outlook fail to run "Done" and reset your UI without producing an error.
The first attempt to resolve this issue was to set up a new Outlook profile. This seemed to exacerbate the problem and resulted in Outlook providing an "Unknown error" before resetting the UI.
The second attempt to resolve this issue was to run "outlook.exe /resetnavpane". However, the nav pane does not appear immediately relevant to this issue.
The following similar steps also result in a crash, this time with an error:
    11) Flag all select message as Complete.
    12) Move all messages from Inbox to a destination folder.
This change in procedure results in the error "Cannot move the items. Some items cannot be moved. They were either already moved or deleted, or access was denied."
Help me, Microsoft Community. You're my only hope.

Import the calendar and contacts in Outlook.com. For contacts, export from Outlook as csv and import into Outlook by choosing the Other option (https://people.live.com/import/other?biciid=ImportCatalog)
You'll need to save the calendar as an ics file to import it. Select the calendar folder, the File, Save as an save as an ics.

  • Problem using File sharing  in a small office network

I have a problem using File sharing on an Imac and Macbook Pro.
My office has a small network running Windows Small office file server 2003. I have one Windows 2000 PC connected to it and 3 Macs, an 2.4 gHz Intel iMac running Leopard 10.5.6 , a MBP running the same and a Mac Mini running 10.5.
From the Finder Shared window of the Mac Mini, I can see all the computers on the network. It also used to be the case for the iMac, but the MBP could never see the Windows PC’s, not the server or the Win2000. This wasn’t a big problem as I was communicating between the Macs and using the shared printer on the iMac.
On Monday Jan 19 the iMac was suddenly unavailable to the other 2 Macs. It was working normally on the Friday. The iMac can access the Mac Mini and copy files to it. The Mac Mini can see the iMac but cannot access it. Even trying to connect as, ends in a failed connection. I have tried rebooting, turning File sharing off and then on again to no avail.
The iMac now also cannot see the Windows PC’s which it previously could.
To get files from the MBP for printing, I now copy it to the Mac Mini and acces the folder from the iMac, a very tedious procedure. I don’t know why this happened and am scared that the Mac Mini is going to do the same thing.
All three computers are also running VMware 2.0 with Windows XP pro, and from VMware the server is visible on all the computers.
Any help will be much appreciated, I live in a small town in South Africa and the local computer suppliers have no knowledge of the Macs.
I think that the problem with the iMac may have started after a software upgrade to 10.5.6 but I am not entirely sure.
    Thank you
    ajdk

Well, you're current method sounds pretty good. But if you want to user a file server, hey go ahead.
What you want to do when you centralize project files is to keep track of which one is the newest and becareful not to overwrite files with the same name. So you either have to set up individual spaces on the server (separate AFP/FTP folders maybe), or you'll need to run a file checkout service.
The individual space is cheaper, but it's not much of a difference from backing up to the network drive. Since you have Gigabit connections, you might even opt to save ALL the user files on the server instead of just the project files.
If you want to run a file checkout service, there's two approaches. You can run a service that can host any kind of file, or you can run a version control system for each kind of application (Photoshop, Word, etc.). Please notice, that as you read further and further along, the methods become more and more expensive and complicated. Once you get to this point, it will be necessary to purchase or build software in addition to the Mac OS X Server package.

  • How to get Outlook 2010+ to connect up externally using Outlook Anywhere (EXCH2013)?

I have a on-premise EXCH2010 / EXCH2013 deployment and I would like to allow our users to be able to access their email using their domain joined and non-domain joined (workgroup) laptop/outlook.
The clients are running Outlook 2010 and/or Outlook 2013.
The current issue is that I cannot connect, my test case is using Outlook 2013 trying to connect externally (using autodiscover). When I go and add a new profile and I select Exchange and enter my server URL (the autodiscover urL) and my user-id and click
"check name" I get nothing, just an error saying lookup failed.
I would expect for a WORKGROUP computer to get prompted for user/pass so they can get authenticated and the profile added.

  • Problem using a lay-out break

When I want to have a selection of text to have for example two columns I use two lay-out breaks: one before the selection and one after the selection. That works fine, but...
Then the last line of a column doesn't show all the letters completely (the underpart of the g is cut off).
    What to do?
Check the lines under numbers 4 and 8.

    Hello
    problem solved.
Here is a screenshot of the original doc in which I just replaced the original font by Myriad.
This time, the oddity is huge.
    I entered Inspector > Text > Text
and discovered that line spacing was set to "exactly 15"
    I replaced the setting by
    "exactly 13"
    and the behavior is OK.
It's OK too if I apply
    single line spacing.
So, we know how to get rid of the problem.
I wait a few days to see if some one is able to give a the theorical explanation.
If I get none, I will post a report to Apple's Bugs Hunters.
