Problem using Print CD on Epson Stylus Photo RX700

I recently installed OS 10.5.1 (leopard) on my iMac (intel core duo) and my Epson Stylus Photo RX700 all-in-one printer appears to be working okay, except when I try to use the Print CD application, I get a message "Epson printer driver dealing with CD printing is not installed". I tried downloading updates from the epson.com site ( 1- Epson Easy Print v3.1bA for intel, 2- TWAIN Driver & Epson Scan Utility v3.02A, 3- Printer Driver v3.0aAS), but I still get the same message. Any suggestions? -Don

You need to add the Epson drivers from the OS X Install disk. Below is what Epson sent me. Note that when you re-add the Printers, there no longer is a Printer Set Up Utility, go into Preferences > Print & Fax and do it from there. Worked for me. Good Luck.
REMOVE FILES
1.  Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
2.  Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
3.  Double click on the PRINTERS folder.
4.  Drag the EPSON folder to the trash can.
5.  Close any open windows.
6.  Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
7.  Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
8.  Double click on the RECEIPTS folder.
9.  Delete any EPSON receipts.
10. Close all open windows and restart your computer.
REINSTALL THE EPSON DRIVER PACKAGE
1. Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 Install disc. Open CD when it appears on the
desktop.
2. Find and double-click on the Optional Installs.mpkg.
3. After the installer opens, choose the following custom install options:
-Check PRINTER DRIVERS and use arrow next to this entry to expand this
category.
-Check EPSON below the PRINTER DRIVERS heading. (You do not need to
install other manufacturer's packages.)
4. Click INSTALL (or UPGRADE) and follow prompts to reinstall the resident
Epson printer driver package. Remove the OS CD and then restart the
computer after installation is complete.
READD THE PRINTER
1. Go into HD > Applications > Utilities and open the Printer Setup
Utility. The PRINTER LIST window appears.
2. Highlight and delete any existing references to your Epson printer. (If
you want to be thorough and do not have any other printers on the Mac,
choose PRINTER SETUP UTILITY from the top of the screen and RESET PRINTING
SYSTEM. Confirm resetting the system. This clears any existing printer
entries and queues. If you have other printers on the Mac and use this
reset, you will need to readd them later.)
3. Turn the printer OFF and back ON to make the Mac redetect it and add it
to the list automatically. (Do not change the PRINT USING field. Selecting
EPSON here would add a GIMP Print driver which does not support all of the
functions of the resident Epson driver. Epson does not support or recommend
these third party drivers.)
4. If you have other printers on the list, make the Epson entry the
default.
5. Close the Printer Setup Utility and try a test print from any OS X-based
application.
*NOTE: If the printer does not show up on the list, it may mean a lack of
detection. Ensure the printer is online (no red error lights) and connected
directly to the Mac. Try moving the cable end to other USB ports, if need
be. If you have not done so already, you can also try resetting the Printer
Setup Utility, as described above.
If you are working with a printer model which supports borderless and/or
roll paper printing options, you will be able to select these options in
the program you are printing from as you set up your print job.
1. Once you have an image or file open, go to File > Page Setup.
2. For FORMAT FOR select the Epson printer name (rather than ANY PRINTER)
3. Select the appropriate Paper Size. If your printer supports different
layout features, each paper size will have several different options. For
example, the 4x6 paper size will have an arrow pointing right which offers
choices of 4x6 Borderless, 4x6 Standard-Minimize Margins, etc. Pick the
paper type plus layout/margin option you want to use here.
4. Click OK on Page Setup. You are now ready to print.

  • Print quality on Epson Stylus Photo R800

    Hi...
I'm using Lightroom 3.6 and an Epson Stylus Photo R800. This printer is capable of printing very high quality pictures, as I know by using it for almost 5 years.
I have bought Lightroom about 6 month ago. I have tried anything I can think off to get those fabulus pictures out of my Epson printer. I alterd color managment settings, changed print resolutions, downloaded new printerdriver, ... Nothing works. Print quality when printing from Lightroom is very poor. Bad colors (dark), stripes over the whole image, it looks like nothing realy.
One of the things that I noticed is that the maximum resolution for printing in LR is 720 ppi. My Epson is capable of 1550 ppi.
I see a lot of discussion going about print quality with lightroom... I think however this is a more basic problem. My print qualiti is realy very very bad...
Does anyone have similar problems or (even better) a hint to a solution?
    Note,
When I export a picture to .jpg format (I shoot in RAW only), and print this directly from Windows, I do get the perfect picture a was used to... I cannot believe that Lightroom is unable to do the same.
    Thanks!
    Erik.

  • CD printer driver for Epson Stylus Photo R265

Just bought an Intel iMac 20" together with a Epson Stylus photo R265. It should print CD's and DVD's but, every time I try to print these, it tells me that the CD printer driver has not been installed.
After reinstalling the drivers from the cd which came together with the printer it still didn't print CD's. Also installing the drivers from the Epson website didn't do the job.
After discussing this problem with people from the Epson helpdesk, they answered that the CD printing feature only works on powermacs and that Rosetta should do the trick on Intel based Macs. Knowing that Rosetta operates automatically in OS 10.4.8, this answer was unsatisfying.
I now consider to buy a Canon printer but I am not sure if these printers (cd printer drivers) have the same problem with Intel based Macs.
Does anyone know a proper solution?

  • Epson stylus Photo RX700 & G4

    Hi,
looking myself for better solutions for my printing, which is pretty complicated right now. For others, who have problems with the RX700 this here might be helpfull. What I found out for my G4/Panther 10.3.9 might be working also for Tiger and G5. Try and tell.
First, I wanted to get that printer back to the store after some hours of experimenting. It would print or not, no clou, why.
Then I found out. How I'm printing now, is ridiculous in the 21st century, but it prints and the quality is fantastic. Also the handling der cartridges ist a very good one. Epson could not tell me a better way to print.
    So.
Whatever document I want to print, I have to go first to Page Set Up in File and change from "Any Printer" to "Stylus Photo RX700" and back. Yes, and back. If you don't go back to "Any Printer" the options for choosing front, CD, and backtray would remain not available.
Then apple+p for printing, go to print settings and choose your paper tray and all the options you want for this particular document to print.
This procedure must be repeated every time for every document.
    The offered presets woudn't hold.
If somebody found out how to improve this procedure or make the presets work, that would be exactly, what I would appreciate to know. Probably all others also..
    Thanks in advance

  • Printing DVD labels to Epson Stylus Photo RX700 getting error

    Two Parts
I've got a 800mhz G4 PowerBook running 10.4.11 and I can print to printable CDs/DVDs using either "Epson Print CD" which is HORRIBLE software, or Roxio's Disc Cover RE (Roxio Edition) from Toaster 9 (which is great) with no problems.
When I try to print from my white 24" intel core2duo with 10.5.3 with either of those the Printer Settings are crossed out so I can't select the settings it tells me to in order to print the label for the printable CD or DVD.
I've downloaded the latest print driver from Epson (2.3.1). I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing it and I get the same thing. Any ideas?

i have a similar problem and mine just say no drivers availible during the installation.

  • I upgraded from OS 10.4.11 to 10.6.8 and now cannot print to my Epson Stylus Photo RX595. When I try, I recieve the following error message: Error:/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed. Is this a driver issue?

Is my inability to print from my Intel iMac with OS 10.6.8 related to a driver problem? I checked the Epson website for up-to-date drivers, but they appear to only have print drivers good through OS 10.5x. I did the Apple software update yesterday so everything is up-to-date. Is there no support for the Epson RX545 under OS 10.6x?

When you upgrade from a previous OS there is always a chance that you will bring some setting that is not compatible with the new OS. This can be the driver as noondaywitch suggests but it can also be the core printing system. In the case of the latter, it is a good idea to reset the printing system when a core error occurs. Note that the reset sets the printing system back to default and removes your currently installed printer and scanner queues. But it does not remove the supporting drivers, so you only need to install the driver again.
How to Reset the Printing System
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Scan/Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    5. Restart your Mac
Just one additional thing to note. In checking the supported printer list for 10.6 from Apple, your RC545 is not listed so running the Software Update will not provide you with a driver for this printer. So if Epson does not have a driver for 10.6, and it appears that Apple does not provide one, then what you have already from the previous installation is it. And if this doesn't work, then you may have to look at either an alternate driver or getting another printer. But let's wait and see what happens after the reset.

  • PC running Windows 7 with Photoshop Elements 7 printing to an EPSON Stylus PHOTO R1800

Please help!  I am an amateur photographer. This printer produced excellent photos until my old PC died. I just bought a new Dell XPS 9000 with Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and connected my printer. The photos look terrible.  Clearly, the PC and Printer are not working together properly (syncronized COLOR wise). To consistently obtain the best, life-like colors in my pictures, what do I need to do?  WHICH (Photoshop Elements or the Epson) should manage the color, and what settings should I use?  Each has a setting to allow the other to control the color.  Which will produce the best photos? I have tried many different combinations of settings without success. All of my photos come out brownish yellow. I am feeling desperate. I am an older, retired person with a limited understanding of computers, so I need simple,detailed,step-by-step instructions on how to correct this problem.  Thank you.

  • PRINTING Fto my epson stylus photo r1800 - pictures are dark

    I have the MACPRO BOOK 1.1 , os 10.4.11
i have been using IPHOTO 8 for a while (bought it last summer 2007. i have just noticed
that when i print pix they are dark - yet IPHOTO page is perfect, and when i use my PC to
print the same pix to the EPSON printer (r1800) pix is fine
What's going on? Do i have a setting wrong.?
i read in one of your forums a brief note about
IPHOTO likes SRGB settings, so i changed the setting on my computer to read: EPSON SRGB
    - still not working, and i can't remember how i did this. need
HELP - this is why i got a MAC, it's supposed to be smarter.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Check your monitor calibration and set the gamma to 2.2, adjust a photo to the brightness you like and print a test. See if that works.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • CS4 soft (out of focus) print preview w/Epson Stylus Photo R260

The print preview and actual printed photo is softer/fuzzier/out of focus compared to the image in Photoshop CS4.  Printer profile SPR260 270 UPGP is being used with Color Controls OFF.
I have just shifted from CS2 to CS4 and moved from a PC to a Mac Book Pro.  I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve so any help would be greatly appreciated.  This is a new problem had not encountered before with this printer.
    David

    Thank you Ramon.
The image is 1650 wide by 900 pixels high.  Printing resolution is 300 ppi.
Print size is 5 1/2" wide by 3" high.
    It is a tiff file.
    OS version is 10.5.7
The CS4 11.0.1 update has been applied.
The monitor was just calibrated using a Pantone Eye-One LT.
Comparing the print preview on the monitor screen with the original image
also on the screen, the print preview is not quite as sharp as the original
    and is slightly less saturated.
I checked out the workflow on Gary Ballard's web site and mine follows it.

  • Printer Driver. EPSON Stylus Photo 1280

Hi, I'm just setting up my printer for use on my MacBook Pro. I initially installed the Printer driver provided by EPSON and had the driver working fine. Afterwards, I setup a home network and am currently accessing the printer through my network. The printer is hooked up to my desktop, which is running XP Pro.
Now when I try to access my printer through the network, on my MacBook, which i'm running Mac OS X, 10.5.6, I can print, but it is using the OS X software, and I cannot figure out how to the EPSON driver as the driver allows me to use all the quality settings. If anyone can provide any help to me on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Former Windows users are often dismayed to find out that print drivers on OS X aren't like on Windows. Apple has allowed printer manufacturers to continue using legacy print methods (Carbon) - where whoever writes the driver gets to choose exactly which comm protocol(s) are supported. Your Epson print driver is for USB connection only. Apple has included GutenPrint drivers (new CUPS drivers that can use any comm protocol) to help us print via the CUPS network protocols like Windows Printing. But the Gutenprint drivers aren't provided by Epson and don't have the same options. You might want to try updating your Gutenprint drivers - maybe the newer ones have better option choices.

  • CS4 and Printing to an Epson Stylus Photo R800

I am printing to the above printer and using the Epson Luster Premium Paper. I still get confused about how to set the print settings in Photoshop. Do I choose the document/proof, do I let the printer or Photoshop control the printing, and in the printer dialog box, do I choose ICM/OFF?  Is there a clear set of instructions for consistent prints? I am trying to print B/W and took my PS file and used the Lab Lightness Channel technique to turn my color image into a BW. Should I being doing something to this image before trying to print? Flatten? Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards

    You're on the right track.
In the Photoshop print dialog, under color management, choose
    1. Document
    2. Photoshop Manages Color
    3. Under printer profile, pick the Epson-provided profile for the paper you want.
Then click "Print Settings" to open the Epson printer driver dialog. There you do two things:
    1. Choose the paper type (this is important as it controls the amount of ink)
    2. Choose ICM, and tick "Off". This turns off printer color management.
I don't have your Epson model, but AFAIK it works the same in all of them.

  • "communication error" when trying to print on an EPSON Stylus Photo R360

I have set up the printer on my n-basestation. It's visible through Bonjour. All drivers are installed, and Macbook Pro restarted. But, when I try to print my mac gives a "communication error" and nothing happens on the printer.
I then installed Gutenprint (V5.0.0), deleted the printer in Print Setup and re-set it up using this driver. But, now it just spits out many many blank pages. A manual shutdown of the printer is the only way to stop the post-massacre of a rainforest.
What do to? This is very very frustrating...

For the record, I have successfully been able to print with the printer connected straight to the Macbook.
Is the new 7.1.1 firmware going to do magic?

  • Epson Stylus Photo R2400 won't print large pages?

I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard. I immediately had problems with printing to my Epson Stylus Photo R2400 as a print driver gutenprint had suddenly replace my Epson driver when going thu dialog to print. Called and Epson and they got me thru process of getting rid of the newly replaced gutenprint to an Epson driver. Problem is I can't print anything larger than an 8.5x11 page. The printer set up says and shows me that what I have set as an 11x17 or 13x19 is going to print. But all that prints on this large expensive paper is an area 8.5x8.5. No matter what I change in set up. Epson says they have done all they can do. (And I just found out last week they have replaced this printer with another printer). I have hundreds of dollars in newly purchased inks and I am wasting expensive paper.
Also I had to remove the patch for OS leopard to get the printer to work in this diminished capacity.
And my email signature disappeared. Can't get that back either.
But printer is my biggest problem. Any suggestions how to get this printer to work with this new OS leopard and print large sizes? I have deadlines and hate to outsource the printing when I could easily do it in house.

Well, you picked the very hardest way to do it, and as time goes on, you will probably discover many other things wrong with your system as well. You CANNOT go back to Tiger from Leopard via an archive and install; you have to wipe the drive and start over from scratch, and then transfer all your data over from a backup and reinstall most, if not all, of your applications so the right elements are in the right places. Even so you'll never get your system exactly back to where it was, unless you had a perfect bootable Tiger backup (via SuperDuper) and merely restored from that. Obviously whatever Leopard element that killed your printing capability is still on your frankenstein system of BOTH Tiger and Leopard parts.
There are hundreds of posts on the issue of reverting to Tiger from Leopard, many quite detailed. So many things are changed from upgrading from one to the other that what you attempted (unless you completely wiped the drive and all your data) has always proven disastrous, which is why I highly recommended against it after reading hundreds of horror stories here.
I suggest doing a search at downgrading from Leopard to Tiger, following those instructions if you can, and making the best of it. You'll find that springing the $200 for an external drive would have been a much better and easier solution, because it can come in very handy if you ever need to do any maintenance on your internal hard drive, or if some update or problems kill your internal drive and you can't even boot the system. Not to mention sooner or later always needing more storage capability, and even a drive for reliable backups.
I would never dream of attempting a downgrade or needing to do it in the first place (having taken precautions as to never have to), so I can't give you any further advice than that.

  • FIX for EPSON Print CD V2.02 - EPSON Stylus Photo R200 - MAC OS 10.5.9

I thought I'd post this ridiculously long info sheet on what finally got my R200 to work with EPSON Print CD and 10.5.8 just in case it might help someone else BEFORE they spend days searching for a solution.
Check the printer driver information in System Preferences, Print & Fax. If it says anything other than EPSON SP R200 Series, you’ve likely located the problem. My system showed the Gutenprint v5.1.3 and /or CUPS/+GIMP... I originally replaced the Gutenprint driver file with the CUPS... file thinking this would solve the Gutenprint driver problem. But, as I continued to look into what was going on, I think I found out that both driver files are actually considered Gutenprint driver files.
    1. Select the hard drive where the operating system is located.
    2. Select Library/Printers.
    3. Select the Epson folder and delete it and then Empty Trash to make sure it’s gone.
    4. Select Library/Preferences.
    5. Select the Epson folder and delete any files that are there.
(Steps 4 & 5 might not be necessary, but I’m listing everything that I did.)
    6. In System Preferences, select Printers and Fax. Control click in listing area and select Reset Printers.
    7. Load the Leopard Installation CD and select Optional Installation.
    8. Select Printers and select Epson. This will reload the printer drivers for all the EPSON printers that are included on the install CD.
    9. Go back to the System Preferences, Printers and Fax window. Click on the + sign to add a printer.
    10. There will likely be a listing with Printer Name as EPSON Stylus Photo R200, Kind as USB.
    11. Click on an arrow in the Print Using: box and select EPSON SP R200 Series. The printer icon changed dramatically at this point, with a rainbow of colors on the document shown coming out of the printer.
Note: **Working within the Print & Fax app seems to be key to getting the settings corrected.** Someone else pointed out that they also found this necessary. However, I couldn’t get the proper “Print Using:” option to appear until I cleaned out the Library/Printers/Epson folder, “Reset Printers”, and reloaded the EPSON printer drivers from the Leopard installation CD.
I had previously done the “Reset Printers” and reloaded the printer files, but as was advised against in the post I mentioned, I selected the “More Printers” option. That’s where I found the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 listed with the CUPS+Gimp ... and the Gutenprint driver listing options. Selecting what appeared to be the Gutenprint alternate printer driver didn’t help at all. I’m not sure if the EPSON SP R200 driver file was missing from the original listing of printer drivers or if I just missed it. I certainly would have looked for it if I had known it was the one that’s needed.
    12. Open the EPSON Print CD V2.02 app. Although I had already installed the Easy Print update, I got a message saying that the application needed the update to work. So, I reinstalled the Easy Print update.
    13. After reinstalling the Easy Print update, I reselected Update Printer Information. Much to my amazement, I got a message and a progress indicator showing the Printer Information was being updated to reflect the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 printer.
    14. When the Update Printer Information process had completed, I clicked on Print and suddenly found that I was able to choose Select Printer and pick the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 and CD/DVD wondrously appeared in the Media Type.
After this point, all the other instructions that are provided from EPSON seemed to work just fine.
Hopefully, there’s enough information in here somewhere that people with other operating systems and printers might at least be able to get a clue . . .

I dug around on the Epson site and found this which seemed to address the exact problem so they obviously know about it. Unfortunately even these rather drastic steps failed to solve the issue for me.
