Ummm ... That's weird, I could swear I could download that file but now somehow I can't ...
Sorry, it seems that uzbl, jumanji and surf have a problem but Chromium can download that damn file.
You know what the really funny thing is? When you click 'Download subtitle' another text appears below: 'Download problems?' - right? Well, it should read 'Download problems? Click here' - the 'click here' part is a link to an 'Alternative download page' with a direct download. The 'click here' part doesn't appear in Chromium, but that browser can download the zip so it doesn't need it.
I get the following info:
--2010-07-26 16:44:46-- ftp://javascript/DownloadSubtitle();
=> `DownloadSubtitle()'
Resolving javascript... failed: Name or service not known.
wget: unable to resolve host address `javascript'

• Problem Uploading and Sharing Video Files

I just uploaded a 3.3GB h.264 Quicktime movie to Creative Cloud. It took many hours. Now that it's finished uploading, I can't figure out how to play the video while logged into Creative Cloud, despite that fact that under information it's recognized as a mov and 3.3GB. And when I try to share using the link-in-email option, my friend can't play the movie or download it. When he tries to download it, nothing connects. Creative Cloud seems to be treating this movie as a single still image or something. Suggestions as to how to solve these upload and share video problems? I have a 2011 MacBook Pro with all possible upgrades, Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. Any help here much appreciated. One of the reasons I signed on for a year with Creative Cloud was to utilize this 20GB to share video in the way I've done through Dropbox.

Thanks for the reply, Dave, but I don't think this is the problem. I've uploaded this h.264 Quicktime (which plays fine before uploading) a few times now and cannot download or share due to a very long period of "Connecting...", then the message "Problem loading page. The connection was reset. The conection to the server was reset while the page was loading. - The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. - If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. - If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web." Then I'm given the option to "try again". This or a similar message is what others get when trying to download when I try to share the file with them using the link-in-email method, and neither I nor any of those I try to share this with are having problems with internet connectiions or downloading other large video files from the internet. The reason I suspect that Creative Cloud can't deal with downloading larger files such as this 3.3GB Quicktime is that I have no problem uploading, downloading or sharing small Quicktime movies through CC, and they are identified the same way and look the same when uploaded to CC. I also have no problem downloading much larger video files from other sites on the internet, such as feature length films that are a lot larger than 3.3GB. It seems like only things that download quickly don't time-out, regardless of what browser I'm using. Does Creative Cloud's download system rely on files being able to be downloaded quickly in full before a browser's time-out? As I've mentioned before, I have no problem uploading, downloading, sharing, etc. using Dropbox. Long explanation here, I know, but I thought all this info might help in figuring things out. Any ideas as to what's going on?

• Problems loading and saving pdf files from sites with latest version.

On my utilities I wish to download and save pdf files of my e-bill.
Lately when I click on getting bill, Firefox opens new tab and stops.
with a light message in url place saying "Type a web address".
To get around this I must do a right click on the save bill and
select open in new window, then it opens a new copy of Firefox,
and two tabs, with the second one asking me to use Adobe to see
pdf file. I tell it to open and then save it and print it from the tab
that opens with the pdf file in it. This never happened before was
always able to just click on link and it would open new tab with
pdf file there.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think I was clear enough with my question.
What I want to be able to do is to click on a PDF file in my Firefox browser and be able to save it as an Adobe PDF file, not a Preview PDF file, in any folder on my computer, rather than just the specified default location for downloads. This way I can save, for example, phone bills in the phone bills folder and bank statements in the bank statements folder without having to save them to the desktop, "Get Info" on each, and change the "Open with:" box from Preview to Adobe Reader.
Fortunately, thanks to Michael's post, I found an add-on from Firefox that allows me to do just that: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/636
Thanks for your help. Now, within my Firefox browser, I can choose whether to view or download PDF files, always in Adobe rather than Preview, and when I save them I get the option to choose the location each and every time.

• SSL and uploading/downloading files

When I download/upload file via HTTP and using SSL, is my attached file sent encrypted or SSL is only for message itself? In other words I download file from https://myfoo.com/myfile.txt <-- will this file be encrypted during transmission?
Thank you.
Andrei

Yes the transmission is encrypted.
SSL is about encrypting the mediumin network layer, aka the content of the tcp packets, not end to end encryption; so your file will be transmitted in an encrypted form along with other control data. But on the client side when put together you don't have to do further decryption.

• Gb3: problems recording and importing sound file to new track

since i upgraded from version 2, i can't record or import files into new tracks, including loops! anyone experienced this or have an idea what i could try to fix it? existing files still play, but nothing new will work.

The first two things I would suggest trying, in order:
o Repair Permissions
o Delete GB's prefs Files
. (Search your Hard Drive for "GarageBand" and delete the files that end in ".plist" and ".cs")

• Problem sharing and/or accessing files on the Cloud -- I can't access files after I have put them on the Cloud. Help!

Hi -- I have files on my cloud, but can't get sharing to work so that my boss can access them. The only thing that works is if he signs in under my username and PW (seems counter-productive). Even then, he can only SEE the files, and cannot do anything with them... I have added him as a user on my cloud... not sure what I am/we are doing wrong.

The file collaboration tutorial is available here Sync and share your files with collaborators | Adobe Creative Cloud Tutorials.
From the Files page at https://creative.adobe.com/files you can either publicly share a file / folder (using the Send Link option) or you can privately collaboration (using Collaboration option).

• Open and Save downloaded files at the same time (in one click)

OVERALL GOAL: To click on PDF links online, save the files to my Downloads folder, AND open them in Acrobat Pro, all in one click.
Does anyone have a suggestion for how I would tell Firefox to both Save and Open my downloads? I'm using OS X, if it helps/matters.

That happens automatically with both my Macs. I have one using 10.4 and another using 10.6. I use PDFView rather than Adobe, but I doubt that makes much difference. You are using Adobe as a helper application, not a plugin, right?

• Problem viewing and printing PDF files in Preview

I have a document that was created in Adobe InDesign (CS4) with a photo that was converted to Grayscale from a CMYK image in Photoshop (CS4).
That document was then Exported from InDesign as a high print quality PDF.
Now when I open the file in Preview the photo appears on the screen as a "Negative" or "Reversed" image. And if I print the document, it too prints as a "Negative/Reversed" image.
I don't know if this matters but if I send this document in Apple Mail it too previews as a "Negative/Reversed" image.
Other that this photo everything else in the document (text and color logos) displays and prints fine.
Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem with PDFs containing bitmaps created by Illustrator CS3 (and CS4) -- the bitmap appears as negative.
It has to do with the compression method used for the bitmaps in the Adobe PDF creation. If it is JPEG or JPEG2000 the problem occurs, if it's ZIP or no compression, the image is fine.
If have reported this to Apple as a bug already.
10.6.2 has NOT fixed this behaviour.

• I am having problems donloading and editing .asx files

I am trying to edit some video that can only be downloaded in .asx format. It is drm-ed. I may just have to contact the poeple I am partenring with that I need the original video files but I will need to do this with many of the cliebts that I am partnering with. Not only will it become a nuisance and make my business move as though stuck in the mud...it makes it hard for me to trumpet the relative merits of Apple anything electronic in the world if I have to get parralel or something so that I can run (gasp) Windows.
Please help!
If there is another section I should post this in let me know. i figured Fimal Cut would be where the most knowledgeable amble about.

FCE is video editing application. ASX are not video files, they're metadata information. By the sound of it you haven't downloaded the video files at all. ASF is a Windows format used for streaming, not for download.
The ASX Format
ASX (Advanced Stream Redirector) files are not media files, but metafiles.
Metafiles provides information about files. ASX files are plain text files used to describe multimedia content:
<ASX VERSION="3.0">

Holiday 2001

<ref href="holiday-1.avi"/>

<ref href="holiday-2.avi"/>

<ref href="holiday-2.avi"/>

</ASX>
The file above describes three multimedia files. When the ASX file is read by a player, the player can play the files described.
Advanced Systems Format (formerly Advanced Streaming Format) is Microsoft's proprietary digital audio/digital video container format, especially meant for streaming media. ASF is part of the Windows Media framework.
The format does not specify how (i.e. with which codec) the video or audio should be encoded; it just specifies the structure of the video/audio stream. This is similar to the function performed by the QuickTime, AVI, or Ogg container formats. One of the objectives of ASF was to support playback from digital media servers, HTTP servers, and local storage devices such as hard disk drives.
ASF is based on serialized objects which are essentially byte sequences identified by a GUID marker.
The most common filetypes contained within an ASF file are Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Video (WMV). Note that the file extension abbreviations are similar in name to the codecs of the same name but are different things.
ASF files can also contain objects representing metadata, such as the artist, title, album and genre for an audio track, or the director of a video track, much like the ID3 tags of MP3 files.
Files containing only WMA audio can be named using a .wma extension, and files of only audio and video content may have the extension .wmv. Both may use the .asf extension if desired.
Certain error-correcting techniques related to ASF are patented in the United States (United States Patent 6,041,345 Levi, et al. March 21, 2000) by Microsoft. Although the format is publicly documented by Microsoft, its license limits implementations to closed-source development projects only. Apple's iTunes software (for Windows) now has the capability to convert WMA files to any iTunes-supported format.[1]
The ASF container provides the framework for digital rights management in Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video. An analysis of an older scheme used in WMA reveals that it is using a combination of elliptic curve cryptography key exchange, DES block cipher, a custom block cipher, RC4 stream cipher and the SHA-1 hashing function.
ASF files have MIME type application/vnd.ms-asf or video/x-ms-asf. (Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) files also have MIME type video/x-ms-asf.)
ASF container-based media is usually streamed on the internet either through the MMS protocol or the RTSP protocol.

• Problem while trying to download files- Fatal error message

Hi
I have just bought a copy of photoshop cs3. Got a deal on it so couldnt refuse.
The problem I have is while trying to download pictures off my memory card. I put them into the card reader and when I went to advanced settings it came up with an error message which would then close the upload box when clicked ok.
This same message appeared when I didnt choose advanced settings and started to download pics.
I checked that some have downloaded but stopped once the error message appeared.
Below is the info that came up
Fatal error
Adobe photo downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveinience.
Error code c0000094
Address fa770ab

I normally use the canon downloader and download the pics straight from the camera.
The cardreader works fine with the memory card as it has worked fine everytime in the past.
I thought there may be some settings that need to be changed somewhere for adobe bridge downloader to work correctly.

• Problem saving and printing pdf files.

Operating System Windows 7. Adobe Reader Version XI. Online and local files. Browser XI. Adobe sends ERROR message on ALL pdf files. Adobe seems to recognize all pdf files as "coded incorrectly," and sent by email, when the majority haven't been sent by email. It will not save the pdf as a pdf, but saves it as "All Files," instead.

How are you downloading these files? Also, what exactly means "an error message"?

• Problems opening and using Contacts files imported from PC.

I'm new to iPad and IOS.
Transferred my Contacts files from my PC which has now gone the way of all flesh.
Can pick up my individual email addresses for emails but cannot see my address groups (used for group emailing).
I can see the .contact and .group files on Knowhow but the Pad tells me I can't open those files.
How can I open the files, and why do the groups not show up when I 'm trying to select an email address.
Am I just being dumb or do I need to download different app ?
Grateful for any help. Thanks

• I own design and web premium and the download file is only 400mb and corrupted from here...

http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/DSST/CS6/win32/DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16.7z found through this link...https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.htmlPlease help me...

Thanks for the reply, however the site you linked downloads the file from the exact same location as above...here... http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/DSST/CS6/win32/DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16.7z
The file's completed size is 469mb when it should be 4.5GB. It is a corrupted archive, meaning it cannot be used or opened. It is impossible to 'resume' this file because the server thinks that 469MB is the completed size.
Someone from Adobe please help...this is ridiculous I can't use product I have paid for?!?!?!?

• Odd problem opening and forwarding .pdf files

Received several .pdf files. I can open them from the email, but when I save them to my directory, I can't reopen them. When I forward them they can't be opened. When the recipient tries, she gets a message that says "this internet site is not available". I'm totally baffled. To my knowledge, I'm just trying to send some files - nothing to do with an internet site. Can anyone explain or make a suggestion? Thanks.

You can tryout the Open source PDFBox API
The api has an class which extracts the text from the pdf document.
It might help you.
you can find it in
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfbox/
hope works
