I don’t know why ? same macbook air (mid 2011) same itunes. It works before on my iphone (under ios 4 and 5.1 after that version ko)
Any people with this situation ? How to fix it ?

Yes many people seem to be having this problem since installing the new iTunes 7 and ipod software 2.3, however no one seems to know what is the real cause. My 3G iPod was perfect for years, and since last week I have been unable to connect to my Macbook Pro with firewire. However it is fine with USB.
People keep telling me to restore my ipod to an older software version (older than 2.3), however the 3G ipod is unable to restore using USB, and requests the firewire connection to restore.
Thus, I connected with USB and restored using iTunes on windows (using bootcamp on my MBP). However now my ipod is Windows formatted, and is having problems importing music in OS X.
Just wanted to let you know that others are having this problem, and we are waiting for Apple to issue a response/fix/update.

Problem viewing streaming video in some wifi networks, but not others

When I am at work (university), I can not view YouTube videos or video streaming from news sites such as cnn mobile on my ipod touch 2g.

When I called Apple support, they had me reset-restore. I still had the problem. I went to the Apple store Genius bar and the problem no longer existed, the videaos downloaded and played from both sites!
But at my diner and at work, I get the message, "This movie could not be played" in a popup box with an OK button. The same message appears if I use the YouTube application. I click on any video, and the same popup appears. In Cnn the popup is preceded by a shaded capital Q that looks like the blue Quicktime Q; in Youtube the pupup is preceded by a YouTube icon in gray with the "Tube" surrounded by the rounded rectangle, their icoon...
At the Apple store the popup never appeared, and the videos downloaded and played.
I have no trouble playing movies I have downloaded from iTunes.
I did not have this problem when I initially got my iPod Touch, and I think it appeared after one of the last two system upgrades, but I am not sure.
I am curious that it the problem happens at two places, my diner and at work.
The speed of my wireless work network, as judged by the ipod app speed test is 9915 kbps download and 6971 kbps upload, so plenty fast.
The first time I noticed this issue was with the application "At Bat Lite" which also won't play video highlights at work.
I do not have WiFi at home
Any thoughts about what would cause this lack of functionality apparantly only at some networks but not others?
Oh, one more piece of data: at work a Macbook will play YouTube both on ethernet and using wifi...

It seems I have two networks available at work, one is behind our firewall, and I login to it. This is the network that I can't view streaming video. There is also a "Guest" network that I don't need to login to. This one works with the YouTube and the news site videos.
Thus, I conclude there is a setting that WiFi network administrators can invoke that specifically can block streaming video on some protocols (whatever the ipod touch uses) and not others (whatever the Macbook uses). But the same router hardware supplying the Guest network does not block these protocols. Presumably this has to do with security on one side of the firewall(?)
Anyway, apparently outside of the WiFi controls available in the ipod touch settings.

Problem when displaying images when working with PHP, mysql and dreamweaver in a brower

I am new to dynamic development but I already did some
research and tutorials about how to get a dynamic web site working
with PHP and Mysql in Dreamweaver. I set up a test page to view
some content on it directly from the mysql database and it worked
just fine in dreamweaver only when I pressed the
live data view.
When I tried to view the same page using the browser preview
with firefox and internet explorer, plain text from the database
was correctly displayed on the brower but the images were absent.
In the mysql database I used the varchar as my picture data
type field so that I will refer in dreamweaver in the data binding
panel in the img.src to the picture column of my database.
I anyone can tell me what am I doing wrong so that my
pictures are not displayed in the browser when i click the browser
preview facility in dreamweaver I would be very very and very
pleased ! :)

The odds are that it is the way that you have referenced the
images rather
than an issue with the database. If you have the images root
relative like
this "/images" then they will work in preview, and on the
webserver, but
will not view when looking at the file via localhost.
If possible make the links page relative and then they should
work fine.

Wifi sync works for iPod but not iPad

I've seen lots of questions raised about wifi sync, most of which seem to have been resolved by checking the box in iTunes to enable wifi sync. My issue doesn't seem to be resolved so easily.
I have checked the iTunes box to enable wifi sync and turned off my firewall. I have reset my router. I reinstalled iTunes, and I even just reset my iPad to defaults and reloaded from scratch. Still, wifi sync doesn't work. It is working just fine on the same Windows PC with my iPod.
Anything else I could try?

Also try this - Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Input type="image" only works in Safari, but not IE or Firefox?

Having accidentally discovered a form on a site I am working on was only working in Safari, I've just spent about five hours retracing my steps, before eventually discovering that the code that was making the form fail was my submit code.
The page I was looking at had quite a bit of validation, CAPTCHA code and some jQuery to style some drop downs, so I figured something there was the issue.
But it turned out just to be the submit button.
I've just tried it on my contact page, and its failing in Firefox (Mac) too (and so I assume IE as well.)
Should this work, or is using input type="image" on a form submit button a big no no?
This code works:

Same SMTP Relay problem but new reasons. Works with most but not with few

I am writing a mail server. My applications sends mail directly to the SMTP server of recipient using MX Record. I find out the MX Record of the recipients and then using Java Mail send mail to that MX Record.This application is working fine and it has worked for thousand or so SMTP Server successfully.
There are couple of servers (SMTP of recipients) those reject the mail saying SMTP Relaying Prohibited by the Administrator and further says Invalid Mail Address Destination. I am wondering that the recipients belong to that same domain (MX record). I am able to mail them from yahoo or hotmail. I am not trying to use that SMTP for relaying, infact that mail account is registered in that particular SMTP Server.If that server is using SMTP Authentication, how come yahoo or hotmail authenticate for sending mail to their user.
I am sending all genunine parameters like senders mail address etc. I have tried setting various. Can anyone help me where I am missing?

Nopes, you do send mail to the POP3 server. POP (Post Office Protocol) is used for fetching mails. Se RFC 1939 http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1939.html for more detailed information. Usually the mail agent contacts the local SMTP server and it queues it for delivery to other SMTP server that it can find via the MX record, trying the one with the highest priority first which incendently is the one with the lowest number.
If that server is using SMTP Authentication, howcome yahoo or
hotmail authenticate for sending mail to theiruser.
Hotmails' SMTP server will let you send to anybody,
most other private SMTP servers generally will
restrict the domains you can send to.
I'm a little confused as to what your problem is you
are connection to SMTP servers to send individuals
emails? why not just use on SMTP server to send to all

Since you are checking the MX record for the address it should not be considered to be a relay of mail. The only reason this should happen is if the RCPT is set to something wierd like
<@HOSTA.ARPA,@HOSTB.ARPA:[email protected]>See RFC 0821 for more information. I am not sure if RFC 0821 is obsoleted, but this should still apply.

Some Video works on iPod, some not

Just got 60GB iPod, 5th gen. The only video files that transfer to from iTunes to iPod are files purchase or downloaded from iTunes Music Store. Files that I have converted in QT Pro using the 'Export for iPod' function will not show up. Looking at the material posted on this website, my files seem to meet the requirements. Any thoughts?

By this, do you mean that the files you created do not automatincally "show up" in the iTunes Library? If so, then be advised that QT Pro does not automatically mount the converted files to iTunes. Instead, it saves the file to the location specified or defaulted to under the file name in the "Export" window. However, if double-clicked, this file will automatically open iTunes, add the file to the iTunes Library, and start to play the file in the iTunes Player.

Mail on Maverick is very problematic since latest upgrade. One day it works other day it doesn't, especially with gmail. I don't change any settings but one day it will work and the other it will not. What give? All updates are installed....

Viewing raw images

I have photoshop elements nine and have had no problem viewing raw images when i use my compact flash, but i recently purchased a camera that uses sd cards and when i load them i can't see the images only a white sheet with a turned down corner. I need to figure out how to view these images in bridge as well.

My 2G ipod is not being recognized by itunes 10.7 on my mac.

When I start the system with the iPod connected,
the lights flash the color orange as if the battery is being charged,

The IPOD "IPOD" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1437)

I keep getting this message. I bought an old IPOD off eBay that came with a dock and the name on it matches who I bought it from. Its not stolen and just needed a new battery which I installed and it charges fine. I installed iTunes 10 and am trying to sync it with my stuff. It won't ,and gives this error repeatedly, 1437. I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, plugged in the ipod over and over, and reset the IPOD using the toggle on the IPOD and pressing the two buttons simultaneously several times. I went into my device manager and stopped and started the service several times. I even put the ten lines of script back in that was suggested on the ipod support page under 'errors 1415 1417,1418,1428,1429, 1436,1438,1439'...etc message.
What else can I do? Where are the drivers for apple IPOD? I have another IPOD I tried to restore that belonged to a relative and after I did the restore it only shows a picture of a plug and an electrical outlet on the screen? The screen went bad so I replaced it with a part off eBay. I plugged it in to an outlet and the picture will not go away? Can anyone help me?

I think I figured it out and this is for anyone else with a syncing reset issue using an old clickwheel. It was the cables I bought for the IPOD. My 4th GEN Classic 20GB monochrome needs a specific cable in order to reset properly and sync with iTunes, since its an older model. I heard this problem was fixed beginning with the color model of this 4th Generation 20GB classic. I think they originally used a Firewire cable with plug adapter attachment to charge and complete the reset for this model. I was confused as to what that was and now explain how an old USB cable with a plug adapter fixed my problem.
I need now to correct what I put in a previous post. The GRIFFIN cable with the removable plug on the end of it, IS for SURE a USB connection, not Firewire. You see I was unsure what Firewire was. I spoke to a relative today and my laptop does not have a Firewire port. My whole problem was that the cables I bought for the IPOD off eBay, simply do not work, except while using to charge either IPOD. Sometimes they try to sync, sometimes not, and always with errors when they do thru my USB port using that IPOD to USB cable I bought off eBay. I was able to reset my brother's IPOD, but the IPOD I purchased from eBay would never go beyond giving me errors using the USB cable aforementioned. Once the picture of the 'plug' showed up on my brother's IPOD, nothing else happened using any of MY cables, and that's when your reply to my post began the solution process.
When I started having all these problems, my brother said he had an old IPOD and I could have it. He gave me only the IPOD and said he would look for accessories. I told him I bought some cables off eBay that were listed as working with both his model and the IPOD I purchased listed 'as for parts' and may "only need a battery" from eBay. I got a car charger, electrical outlet to IPOD, and a USB to IPOD cable together for $7.00, including shipping, from Hong Kong off eBay.
After someone responded to my post on another message board, I told my brother that I needed a Firewire cable. He said he would look to see what he had that came with his IPOD or what he had bought for it, that he knew worked for him in the past. That's when I got the cable from him with the plug adapter on the end, that I wrongly "Assumed" was the Firewire cable you mentioned for resetting both our IPOD models. Both of our IPODs are for sure, clickwheel 4th GEN 20GB monochromes. My brother's IPOD had a screen that was broken. I got a screen parted out off eBay and fixed his IPOD screen issue. Even though the screen worked, the IPOD would not sync on account of the cables I had bought off eBay, but finally his IPOD did reset using the USB cable, and showed that 'plug outlet' picture I mentioned in another post.
Now once I plugged in the cable he gave me, which has the word 'GRIFFIN' written on it, (not one of my eBay cables) his finished the reset process. When I removed the plug adapter from it and plugged the GRIFFIN cable into my USB port, not only did his sync without any errors; but so did the IPOD I bought off eBay. I put a new battery in the one I had purchased.
Now after all the trouble I was having trying to sync the eBay IPOD using MY cables, along with the noise the hard drive in it was making, I also put in a new 20GB hard drive I bought off eBay. I now have two working, syncing, and charging 4th Gen IPODS, each with 20GB hard drives.
My problem now is with the APPLE iTunes 10 software. I checked and did see some exclamation marks by some of my songs listed in iTunes. Next, I added the folder again to iTunes, and deleted the files with the exclamation points. It worked for some of the songs. I added them to the IPODs by re-syncing the IPODs. No problems. iTunes just will not see some of my folders with mp3 files in them along with some artwork. I will try a manual organization next after I read some more about it or try renaming the folders perhaps? I did this once and the folders loaded as 'UNKOWN Album' in iTunes. I will look into your advice of loading individual tracks.
How does all this sound to you all. Am I finally straight, except maybe having the iTunes issue left?

Ipod Classic not responding in i-tunes

My ipod classic is coming up with an error message in my i-tunes account stating there is a problem with this drive and that my ipod is not responding.
Also, before I plug my ipod into the computer the itunes is working fine then when I plug it in, it goes to a hault and this error message shows up.
I can't figure out why or what to do. We have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled and the same things are still happening.
I'm not sure if it is the new version of itunes that's the problem or if it's because our computer is now windows 8.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm hoping someone else has maybe come across this issue and would be able to help me.

Firefox 4.0 is my default browser, and I am receiving a script error message when I try to view online images in Family Tree Maker 2011, a genealogy program. Have not had problems until Firefox 4.0. Can't seem to find a setting in Firefox to fix this.

I see. Well, I just tried to make IE my default browser, but it did not solve the problem. I receive the same script error when I view the image. (I may not have explained this thoroughly enough at first - I do get to view the image after answering the error message, but the print button embedded in the window doesn't work. Before, I never had a problem with viewing or printing.)
I imagine that at this point I will either need to communicate this to the IE people, or possibly revert to an older version of IE.
