Problem viewing portal content in UWL

Hello gurus
I have a problem with the portal content the user is viewing on UWL. We've finished the job in Dev and everything was fine, but in QA when we try to view some tasks in UWL the message "The page doesn't exists or is not available" appears, and if we check the trace, appears an error saying "child not found" when we try to view the task. Any ideas?

Hi ,
Check the in the backend inbox , whether you are able open the task . If you are able to open it in backend workflow , try reregistering uwl again.
I believe it is related to backend workflow issue.

Hi SDN,
I have upgraded EP 6.0 from SP9 to SP12 but am facing the problem that am not able to view the context window <Open,Preview,Change ID,Copy,Cut,Delete> when i right click on any of the folder or contents within that folder under Portal Content.
Prior to upgrade everything was working fine.

You might be still caching some old static stuff (css, js etc) in your browser. Try clean local cache and see what happens. Eventually you can check what is going wrong in HTML from portal by using HTTPWatch.
Also, if you are using a proxy cache to access portal... try access directly instead.

Minimum role to view portal content in Portal

Hi,
what should be the minimum role assigned to make Portal content visible, able to create iView.
dont want to give admin persmission to external people, but want to give access to create an iView, and preview the same.

actually I assigned owner permisison to the folder which has thsi suer spesific content, and for entire prital content folder, I have assigned read only permission for this user.

View Portal content fro Office apps w/o having Office installed on computer

Is there a way in Portal 10g to display the contents of any MS Office suite document (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point) directly in a Portal page without needing the Office software installed on a user machine? (For example, we have a Word document with HR benefit details. It's formatted with pictures, etc., and we'd like that document's content to display in a Portal page without having Word (or Open Office, etc.) installed on a user's machine. I've searched through various help screens and found nothing that was of assistance. (I am new to Portal & Oracle, and finding it somewhat difficult to understand even though I attended training!) There has been info about WebDav, etc., but my understanding of that is there's a software piece that must be purchased & installed on the client side. We're hoping to avoid that, if possible. Thanks to any Portal Gurus out there that could help!

Webdav is just a transfer protocol to access your Portal documents without an HTTP browser. This protocol is included in Windows webfolders for instance.
But whatever the protocol you use (http or dav) you will need a viewer to see documents.
If your main problem is to avoid Office licence costs then you could install OpenOffice on the client machine.
If your main problem is to avoid any installation on the user machine then maybe you can transform your office files into flash files and then publish them on the portal pages. That's what I do. See FlashPaper from Adobe/Macromedia or Print2Flash, rather cheap solutions.

Problem viewing video-content folders in Adobe Bridge

Hi there.
I have problem browsing folders inside Adobe Bridge CS6. When I get into a folder that contains files that are not just images, Adobe Bridge would not responding and would have to be closed. With the folders contains only images I have no freezing issue and Adobe Bridge run very fast and normal. I usually store images and videos inside the same folder on my image-video albums. I am running windows 8.1 on my laptop computer. I have selected several files with diverse formats inside a test folder each time to check if the program is able to represent the folder or not. I choose a mp4 file inside an image album and it did not response. I replaced mp4 with a ts video file, a wma (audio) file and a docx file (Microsoft word) to see if Bridge can show the folder or not. Only in case of Microsoft word file the program worked but with the mouse indicator twinkling. Is there any solution to the problem? Should I use a newer version of PS to overcome this drawback?

Even the latest versions of Photoshop do not support all types of video files, only some.

Problems viewing PDF content in Safari

When I select a PDF file in Safari, I get a black window. I cannot save the file to my desktop as it gives me an "empty file" message. I'm on an iMac running Lion. Can you help?

Go to /Library/Internet Plugin-Ins
Move the PDF Browser plugin from the Internet Plug-Ins folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.

--> Till yesterday , today morning while checking the day to day activity I found the issue
2. What changes have you done?
--> We didn't change anything in production portal, it is a satnd alone JAVA stack but we have made some some changes in backend R3 system which is a diffrent system on different server
FYI ---> We are facing the problem with portal content not expanding for quite a long time.
3. Which portal version and which sp level are you on?
--> EP 7.0 and SP11
4. Which browser are you using for your portal?
--> IE 6.X

Problem viewing tasks in UWL

Hello Gurus
I'm havin g some trouble in UWL since the installation of SP29. When a certain user logs on its session, can view all the tasks in the inbox, but as all you know, there is some batch process that refresh the view every certain time. So, when this happens, all the tasks gone and the inbox is empty. To view again the tasks, the user needs to click in some other tab from the menu, and then return to the tasks tab to view them again. And when the batch process is executed, the problem occurs again. The odd thing is this happens only with a certain user.
Any ideas?

This can be eventually tied with the fact that the affected user might have personalization set in the UWL. To check this please follow the steps from this page:

Let us know the results in case this helps!
Other than that, all that I can think is something tied with the current iView/XML settings performed in the scenario. For this aspect, I would suggest that you test from the UWL iView provided under the Content Provided by SAP folder within the Portal Content. For this, please check the following documentation to get to know the location, in case you don't know it:

Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.

Hope you are using IE. If so,
1. Go to Tools - > Internet Options - > Advanced .
Enable " http1.1 through Proxy Connections".
2. Increase the Cache.
B. Check whether the user has permissions to access the portal content
Go to Content Administration - > Portal Content.
Select Portal Content and right click. Select Permissions and check out.

Problems with MDM 5.5 SP05 Portal Content - ResultSet iView

Hello Experts,
We are having problems with standard iViews from MDM 5.5, more specific with ResultSet iView. We created an iView using English as default browsers language but our client wanted it in Portuguese, so in the MDM Repository both languages were defined and used in MDM Data Manager, when passed to the Portal iView an error occur, but only in a ResultSet iView from the MDM Portal Content, the others iViews (itemDetails, PicklistSearch, etc...) are shown in Portuguese, and we cannot figure out why it works fine in English and not in Portuguese. We left the default language defined by clients browser. Below Im sending the LOG, which by the way, doesn't help much, but I put it also here. Any ideas of what should I do ?

sorry to disturb you with this issue, can you explain me basic steps in order to setup standard MDM iviews from the portal?
I mean, I have already installed all standard mdm business content, and also have configured system and aliases in the portal to connect to my mdm repositories. Those system/aliases are working propperly.
But, when I try to preview standard MDM iviews/pages I got several JAVA errors in trace logs.
Specific iviews are: Item Details, Show products, etc..any iview execution fails.
So, am I missing something?, do i have to create a specific user in portal?, assign specifi roles or groups???.
Platform is: nw2004s SR2, SP11, MDM content 5.5

Problem with Permissions while accessing Portal Content

Dear All,
Im facing some problems with the permission in accessing the portal content.
When i right click on any of the folders in the catalog displayed under the System Administration - > System Configuration -> System Landscape -> Content directory provided by SAP . I get the following Menu options on right click -> NEW -- > Folder, Change ID, Copy, Delete.
I dont get a option such as NEW --> System(from template) which is important to configure the ABAP ECC 6.0 System with the EP 7.0 to enable logon through the Portal to access the ABAP Database through Web browser.
I have installed EP 7.0 JAVA stack alone separately and ECC 6.0 ABAP stack alone separately.
I have tried assigning System Admin Role, Super User Role, Group as Administrators. But nothing seems to work.
Im not sure of the roles to be assigned.

Try giving the foll roles,
pcd:portal_content/administrator/super_admin/super_admin_role
and groups,
SAP_J2EE_ADMIN
Authenticated Users (GRUP.SUPER_GROUPS_DATASOURCE.AUTHENTICATED_USERS)

Problem: Portal Content Structure (Javascript error: object required)

Hello,
i have a problem with my Internet Explorer 7 and the Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP 16. After the login, the Navigation Structure of the Portal Content isn't shown, after a while a error message pops up saying: error: object required.
The Portal is functional in Firefox 3.0 so i suggest that the problem is based on the internet explorer Browser.
Maybe someone has an idea and can help me resolving this annoying problem. Java from Sun is installed an activated in IE.

something really timewasting. I just had to add the site as a trusted site in IE. But it only works if you youse the NAME e.g. www.sapportal60:50000/irj/portal, using the ip adress dosn't work and that's what i did in the first place.

Is anyone else experiencing problems viewing V30 folios on the Adobe Content Viewer app for ipad and iphone. It asks me to download a newer version of the App but as far as I can see I am using the newest version (3.4.5)

The v30 ACV has not been approved by Apple yet.
