Problem viewing 'pre-views' of Videos & Films on iTunes v8.0.1

Hi All
Have this problem. Upgraded to iTunes 8 (v8.0.1) and now when I go to the iTunes store and view a Music Video or Film, it will only play the first 4 to 12 seconds of it, before it returns back to the main window.
I'm running an iMac Intel with OS X 10.5.5. Get the same problem when viewing on a Intel MacBook, also with OS X 10.5.5 and iTunes v8.0.1
Did not get this problem with version 7.x.x
Am I the only one who has this problem??
Regards
Lee

Hi GrayOwl,
I haven't come across this particular issue in the latest version of iTunes, so bear with me.
Quit iTunes. Try deleting the iTunes preference file. com.apple.iTunes.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that .plist file from your Preferences folder to your Desktop. Launch iTunes, access the iTunes Store and try to preview a track. If it works as it should, drag that .plist file to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Your Mac will create a new iTunes preference file for you the next time you launch iTunes... if that didn't help...
Try Repairing Disk Permissions. Launch Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities). Select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, then click Repair Disk Permssions. Quit DU when it's finished, reboot, try iTunes.
If you don't use one, there are several disk utilities available to use.

  • Problems viewing CNN videos

Is it only me? With both Firefox and Safari, whenever I view a video on the CNN.com website, it is terrible. It just shutters and the audio is shaky. Even if I wait for the whole video to download before pressing play, I get the same problem. This has been happening for a long time, with many different versions of Firefox, starting in 2.x and still in 3.x. I never have any problems viewing YouTube video or any QuickTime videos, it is ONLY on the CNN.com website. I have contacted them several times (contact us) and complained, but I have never received a reply.
I just want to make sure it isn't my machine. I have a pretty good system with plenty of RAM, etc.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I've never had an problems viewing CNN video/audio on Safari 3.1.2 (Tiger 10.4.11).
In Safari, from the Menu Bar, select Help/Installed Plug-Ins and make sure you have the following plugin: Shockwave Flash 9.0 r151 — from file “Flash Player.plugin”. You can do a quick search of plugins by pressing Command + F in that plug in window and type in Flash in the search field. If it's there, it will be highlighed.
If not, go here and download the Safari Flash plugin: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
If you already have the Flash plugin, perhaps you need to do some maintenance on your Mac? If you don't have a disk utility to clean out caches, run routine maintenance and cleaning scripts... get Onyx here: http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html It's free, easy to download and install and use.
Also, check your available drive space as BDAqua suggested. Right or control click your MacintoshHD icon, then click: Get Info In the Get Info click the black arrow next to General so it faces down. You will see: Capacity and Available. Make sure your Mac has a minimum of 10% free disk space, 15% is better. Not enough disk space and video/audio, applications.. will crash/free... in general, erratic behavior.

  • HELP! Problem viewing Youtube videos.

    Hello,
I am having problems viewing Youtube videos. Everything was great until the other day. I have not changed anything on my computer to create this problem.
    Diagnosis:
when viewing videos straight from youtube.com with Safari, it loads and starts to play the video & audio. after the first second the visual video disappears and the audio keeps playing. I can scroll throughout the video, but no picture.
I do not understand, I have updated everything and still same outcome. It was working the other day fine and then boom, no video. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
    Thank you for you help,
    B

Sounds like a problem with Flash. I'd recommend visiting Adobe's web site and updating to the most current version for OS X.

  • I am having problems viewing many video sites since upgrading my IPad to IOS 7

Has anyone been having problems viewing many video formats on ipad after upgrading to ios7.v3? I can't view most You Tube, no Netflix, etc!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Problem viewing streaming video in some wifi networks, but not others

When I am at work (university), I can not view YouTube videos or video streaming from news sites such as cnn mobile on my ipod touch 2g.
    <m.cnn.com/videos.jsp?ckey-cnn)06#__1_>
When I called Apple support, they had me reset-restore. I still had the problem. I went to the Apple store Genius bar and the problem no longer existed, the videaos downloaded and played from both sites!
But at my diner and at work, I get the message, "This movie could not be played" in a popup box with an OK button. The same message appears if I use the YouTube application. I click on any video, and the same popup appears. In Cnn the popup is preceded by a shaded capital Q that looks like the blue Quicktime Q; in Youtube the pupup is preceded by a YouTube icon in gray with the "Tube" surrounded by the rounded rectangle, their icoon...
At the Apple store the popup never appeared, and the videos downloaded and played.
I have no trouble playing movies I have downloaded from iTunes.
I did not have this problem when I initially got my iPod Touch, and I think it appeared after one of the last two system upgrades, but I am not sure.
I am curious that it the problem happens at two places, my diner and at work.
The speed of my wireless work network, as judged by the ipod app speed test is 9915 kbps download and 6971 kbps upload, so plenty fast.
The first time I noticed this issue was with the application "At Bat Lite" which also won't play video highlights at work.
I do not have WiFi at home
Any thoughts about what would cause this lack of functionality apparantly only at some networks but not others?
Oh, one more piece of data: at work a Macbook will play YouTube both on ethernet and using wifi...
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions,
    Paul

It seems I have two networks available at work, one is behind our firewall, and I login to it. This is the network that I can't view streaming video. There is also a "Guest" network that I don't need to login to. This one works with the YouTube and the news site videos.
Thus, I conclude there is a setting that WiFi network administrators can invoke that specifically can block streaming video on some protocols (whatever the ipod touch uses) and not others (whatever the Macbook uses). But the same router hardware supplying the Guest network does not block these protocols. Presumably this has to do with security on one side of the firewall(?)
Anyway, apparently outside of the WiFi controls available in the ipod touch settings.
    Weird...

  • Problem viewing some video files

I get this problem only with some video files, not all. They are all .mov files so it's hard to tell what is causing it. What it looks like is that the video and sound plays but the video is "barred out" with thick white stripes so it looks like three is only 1 pixel size width of video showing through. almost like this:
    "menu bar here"
Just pretend with the dotted lines, you can see the video in it's place. I tried reinstalling quicktime but it does not work. Any ideas

  • Problems viewing Youtube videos

Hi. I have a newbie question and my english is not very good. Do I have to change the flashplayer to view the videos of this channel correctly. Geldanlage Finanzberater - YouTube
As I know chrome uses flashplayer, right?
    Thanks in advance

    Well, tried several things.
Used AMDDrivertest (or something like that) to detect whether the most recent drivers for the videocard, which seems to be okay.
Then, tested again (to be sure) if youtube video's played well when Shockwave Flash was deactivated. Yes it did.
So I deinstalled Flash, and rebooted pc.
Then downloaded and installed a quite old version of Shockwave Flash (11.6.8.638) and yes, youtube video's played well. But, then again, of course, the tv-site didn't work, for it needs the newest Flash player.
So, uninstalled the flash again, debooted.
Then, downloaded and installed the Shockwave Flash version as I have on my laptop, which is 11.9.900.170.
    And ... youtube vid's did'nt work again.
And... the tv-site does work.  :-|
I looked into the processes which could be related to Adobe Reader or Acrobat, (I have Creative Cloud) and stopped all those.
    Still no changes.
So, for now, I don't know what else I could do, other than watch youtube only at my laptop :-)  (better for my workflow I guess :-)
Could it be something with Creative Cloud? Seems to me it couldnt' for I stopped those processes.  I don't use that on my desktop.
    Still very strange.
The only thing I can think of theres' some kinda bug in the latest Shockwave versions.
I remember I had the same version as on my laptop installed before this one, then the problem started, and because of that I updated to the 12.0.0 43 version.

  • Problems viewing Youtube videos when Adobe Reader is installed

    Hi,
Since I installed Adobe Reader XI there are some issues viewing Youtube videos. The videos stop playing after about 2 seconds, or go back to zero.
First I tried to deactivate all plugins in Firefox (which I normally use; I also tried to play the videos in IE, but that didn't work as well).
    Then activated one by one.
I use Windows 8.1  (had the same issue on Windows 8).
I got a Windows message, saying there is a problem with my videocard, from [date].
That same day I installed Adobe Reader XI.
So, I deinstalled it, and everything worked fine again.
Today I installed Adobe Reader XI (11.0.05, Dutch) and yoohoo, back to the same issue again: videos stop after 1 or 2 seconds.
Is this a known Adobe issue?

  • Problems viewing downloaded videos since Leopard upgrade

I have purchased and downloaded several videos from the iTunes store. Since upgrading to Leopard, I haven't been able to play any of these videos. All I get is a gray screen.
Anyone else experiencing this problem? Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    renee

I too have a similar problem with purchased video clips. They were OK at first but now I only get the grey screen. It seemed to happen after installing a demo of Snapz pro. I have since uninstalled Snapz Pro but I still only get the grey screen. Non iTunes videos are fine. Please help. mollsun

  • MacBook Pro Freezes When Viewing Any Video with new iTunes

I, too, am having problems with the latest iTunes update. My MacBook Pro freezes completely. Total lock-up. This happens when trying to view any video, including video podcasts. I have to hold down the power button for several seconds to get my laptop to turn off. Any other MBP users experiencing this?

Hi there, I have the same problem as you guys, everything was fine before iTunes 7.6 or iTunes 7.6.1 I tried both, before those updates I could watch any video in iTunes without any issue, after that when I play a video, a random video my Macbook freeze totally, sometimes comes alive but 90% of the cases I have to make a hard shutdown (press and hold the power button). I can't believe this kind of bugs in a software that is so mature. Help please!

  • Problem viewing live video

I have a strange problem, that seems to be related to an ASA firewall, in shot I have some users that are trying to view a live video or audio stream from the internet, and basicly it sometimes works and sometimes not, more often not
if they try to view pre recorded video online, that works fine, but just not the live feeds.
anyone have experinced similar issues ?
    Arni

Yes, I've seen more or less the same thing. My customer uses a PIX 515E/7.1x and when users access media sites (news, radio, video etc), it works between 5-100% of the time.
First it seemed like removing protocol inspection for rtsp and http solved the problem but it didn?t. I have no solution.

  • I am having a problem viewing YouTube videos in the latest version of Firefox.

I'm on Firefox 34.0 on a Windows 7 laptop. Up until recently I had no trouble viewing videos on YouTube. I would enter "youtube.com" into the browser address and it would take me to http://youtube.com. But now it takes me to "http://m.youtube.com/?", which appears to be a mobile YouTube viewer. And when I try to open a video there I get this message:
"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (rtsp) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context."
This just started after the latest version of Firefox uploaded to my computer. Why can't I access the normal Windows version of YouTube anymore?

This problem has been fixed. I rebooted my laptop after clearing my Firefox cache and deleting all cookies. Once my laptop was rebooted, I opened Firefox and now I can access the regular YouTube site, not the mobile site.

  • Problems Viewing 4K Video

    Hey Everyone,
I'm trying to edit together some GoPro footage I took while I was in Greece last summer. However, I've ran into a problem. I can't preview some of the footage in the viewing screen. Specifically, the footage I can't view was recorded in 4K. I click on it, I drag it into the viewer but it won't play (the sound works fine though) Any thoughts on how to fix this problem?
The video specs. are as follows. I'm using cs6.
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 4096 x 2160
    Frame Rate: 11.99
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Some of the video was recorded in 2.7K and I have had no problems with that.
If I had noticed the fps was 12 for 4K video I wouldn't have shot with it.
The only way for me to view the 4K video is by dragging it into the timeline and rendering it. But, that's a pretty time consuming process and I have a lot of footage.
    Thanks

So, I'm assuming you tried to drop it on a "new" sequence/timeline, and it wouldn't "drop"? And by "new" I mean a brand spanking new one without any other footage on it at all ...

  • Problem viewing flash videos full screen

When I go into full screen mode, the video freezes but the audio continues. The only way to fix this is to view it in "normal" mode and to refresh the page. When I right click on the video to access the settings in order to disable the acceleration, "settings" is not clickable. Help??
    Win7 64 bit
    FF 3.6.15
    Adobe Flash 10.2.152.32

You can try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

  • Problem viewing YouTube Videos

All of a sudden I'm having difficulties viewing videos on YouTube in particular. Video takes too long to load, frames are jerky, counter keeps going back and forth at the end of the video. Moreover, my Mac is very slow during the process and almost crashes if I try to maximize or minimize window, or work with other applications. The rainbow disc is almost always there. This happens only on YouTube. Could anyone please help?
N.B. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash Player. I tried repairing permissions (as they said on a Mac forum). I tried emptying cache and resetting Safari. I tried using TimeMachine to restore to an earlier time. I tried using MacKeeper to empty some space on the memory. I tried opening Safari in 32 bit mode, but it made things worse (videos were cut down to a couple of seconds). Nothing seems to work.
    My System:
