Problem w/ version 6 running older applet

Hi,
I downloaded and installed the new JDK version 6, and I tested my applet using the appletviewer. It shows the applet ok, but I get the following warning:
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01\bin>appletviewer drawTest.html
Warning: Can't read AppletViewer properties file: C:\Documents and Settings\tk\.
hotjava\properties Using defaults. Here is my Java code and html code:

public class drawTest extends JApplet
  public void paint(Graphics g)
    Graphics2D gr2d = (Graphics2D) g;
    gr2d.draw(new Line2D.Double(10, 10, 10, 100));
    gr2d.draw(new Line2D.Double(10, 10, 40, 10));
    gr2d.draw(new Line2D.Double(40, 10, 40, 30));
    gr2d.draw(new Ellipse2D.Double(25, 25, 30, 30));  // head
    gr2d.draw(new Line2D.Double(40, 50, 40, 70));     // body

    gr2d.draw(new Line2D.Double(30, 80, 40, 70));     // left leg

Am I gonna have a lot of problems adjusting to a new version of the JDK, like having to literally re-learn Java all over again? As always, your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Flounder!
No, I didn't at first, but I just did, and the applet ran fine! Here's a Dukie 4U!

  • Transport problem - newest versions overwrite by olders during transport

    Hello everybody!
    I am writing my master thesis, which mainly focuses on problems with transport in SAP, precisely with data inconsistence.
    Let's consider the following situation:
    In DEV:
    1) Create change request R1 containing object O(1),
    2) Release R1
    3) Create change request R2 containing the newer version of object - O(2)
    4) Release R2
    In PRD:
    1) Import R2 (using Single Import)
    2) Import R1
    ... thus then an older version O(1) is in PRD instead of O(2).
    The presented situation is very trivial, however the transport could consist of plenty requests, which contain plenty objects under different requests. If in this case because of some reasons the Single Import is necessary (like some organization prevents from performing an immediate full transport), the transport administrator has to examine all other requests from an import queue, in order to check, if this Single Import do not cause any inconstistencies.
    Is there already any tool, which can fully or partly automize this process?
    Or maybe anybody has an idea to ensure that the transport is relevant?
    On of the solutions is checking every object under all of requests and comparing their versions. Is this effective? Does it totally solve the problem? Does any tool supporting this solution exist?
    Do you maybe have any other ideas to solve this problem?
    I would be very thankful for your help!
    Best regards,
    MZ

    Thomas:
    As far as I understood, you suggest the solution, which would compare timestamp of every object versions. How can I "receive" the information about it? And when should the versions be checked (I mean, before releasing requests, or maybe after releasing, but before import)?
    Uwe:
    But what if because of some reasons, just one request of this created "request" set is needed? Sometimes Single Imports does not cause any problems and could be even one of the transport strategy. I was thinking more a solution, which would enable a Single Import, but would not allow for data inconsistencies, caused by overwriting the newest version by older versions.
    BTW, I was not aware of the fact, that there is no locking in case of customizing requests, thus thank you. To be honest, I do not see any point why in case of Workbench Requests we lock objects, and in case of Customizing Requests we do not. In my opinion it just causes additional problems. Maybe you know, why SAP solved it like that? What kind of advantages does it give? Of course this problem is also interesting.
    Sandra:
    Yes, DEV+PRD was just to introduce the main idea. The transactions you gave can be of course helpful to find an error, but I was thinking more about comparing versions under two change requests, before the objects are imported to the target system (not between two systems).
    Best regards,
    Marcin

  • Problems when I tryto run an applet

    Hi I m not able to see my applets in my IE 5.5 browser when I want to see how they get there.. I try to use the HTML converter,but it doesn't do anything with it even it says it is processing it.. what is wrong.. It drives me crazy...

    Check the following :
    1. Goto Tool->Internet Options -> Advanced. Check for Java related properties and turn it on. Restart the browser.
    2. What is the way you are loading applet. Thru HTML document, use APPLET tags.

  • Problem running Java applets since Java update 2 (1.6.0_20)

    Hi,
    Since I upgraded to Java update 2, Java applets started having problems. The most noticeable ones are:
    Non-modal windows appear behing the browser Window (tested Safari 4, 5, Chrome 5).
    Double buffering not working as usual (slower, white boxes appear when dragging a window, etc.)
    Slower rendering in general
    The same applications run perfectly using Java Web Start. And they used to work very well also in Java update 1.
    The application can be tested here (press ok if a login prompt appears):
    Java applet: http://jmap3.k2geospatial.com/montreal_applet/
    Java Web Start: http://jmap3.k2geospatial.com/montreal_jws/dockingClient.jnlp
    Our applications running in applets use the new plug-in 2 with JNLP files.
    Notice the Java startup splash (the animated sun-like logo) is not moving as smoothly as usual. It is very jerky now.
    Are these problems known by anyone?
    How can I downgrade Java to previous version?
    sorry I cross-posted this in Unix forum also. I think it is better here.
    Thank you,
    Jean-Robert
    K2 Geospatial

    Since the last Java update on mac, all my OpenGL applets stop working and now just shows a white screen on Chrome, Firefox and Opera. They was working well on all browsers (Safari/WebKit,Chrome,Firefox,Opera) just before the update.
    The trouble maker seem to be the java plugin 2 and the new offscreen rendering pipeline, as reported by jrhaddad with the disucssion linked to the different Java/OpenGL community forums.
    This is a huge regression for me, and I think for all hobbies/ independent developers and all companies who are doing some Java/OpenGL develoment. All our work just stop working since this update.
    If would really want to know from Apple if they are working on this problem and/or how this can be solved.
    Should this be fixed by Apple with a new java update, or should the various browsers must upgrade their applet support plugins according to the new java plugin 2 changes ?
    Best Regards,
    Jérôme

  • Problem of running rmi applet and client for Javacard 3.0.2 Connected

    Need help for running rmi application for Java Card 3.0.2 connected version. I am trying to move a working rmi applet & client from 3.0.2 Classic version to Connected version. Then I found that they are so different and I have no idea how to run my application :(
    Here are what I have done:
    - I have modified the Classic HelloWorld applet to an rmi applet. It is OK when I build and run the application in netbeans. The Applet can be selected successfully.
    My problems are:
    - How to connect a rmi client to the rmi applet? Here are what I have done:
    + Run rmi applet in netbeans
    + Run 'rmic' command to generate stub
    + Run rmiregistry outside of netbeans
    + Build and run rmi client application outside of netbeans by typing "ant all"
    However, the rmi client was not able to connect to the applet:
    [java] java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
    Would this be a problem of netbeans? Could someone tell me how to run rmi applet/client within or outside netbeans. Thanks a lot!

    Well finally I figured out that CREF-emulators (from JCDK 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 3.0.1 classic) do not support cryptographic extensions at all.
    BUT JCWDE(from JCDK 2.2.1, 2.2.2) - support, but this kind of simulator quite hard to use, because it does not have state between launches.
    About CJCRE(from JCDK 3.0.1 connected) - still don't know, seems not support cryptographic extensions.

  • Problems with Airport setup after buying Version 7 models, (older ones will not upgrade)

    Problems with Airport setup after buying Version 7 models, (older ones will not upgrade)
    I re set up my Airport network , having had 4 expresses for years doing a good job. I bought another and an express, but then a time capsule after my external drive died. .Problems with Airport setup after buying Version 7 models, (older ones will not upgrade)
    I moved house and have fibre network so 38mb/s - they all look ok on the utility, but its not till I saw the App version that they are not compatible as mac will not upgrade the version 6 ones, leaving me with 2 disjointed networks and 7 appliances, 4 of the old , 3 of the new.
    my new house is expansive so i wanted the extended range and airplay in each room.
    This is not told to customers, and utility doesnt show any issues.
    I do not seem to get any range from either network now, - and I'm quite experienced with airport (6 yrs of setting up & using & extending)
    Any advice ?

  • Java Plug-in 1.3.1_08 problem. IE stucks, running Applet, on setVisible met

    Hello,
    I have a problem, that appears in Plug-in 1.3.1_08 (1.4 is ok). The Microsoft Internet Explorer sucks, running my Applet.
    It occurs, when AWT Frame uses method show().
    In a correct situation (for example Java Plug-in 1.4), the applet appears in a separate window (not into IE). When the problem occurs, the Applet's window does not appear and the Internet Explorer (and Java console) are stuk in.
    When I change the mehod to setVisible(true), the problem still exists.
    In the both cases the Applet appears and works correctly for Java 1.4 and more.
    Please help.

    Have you check bugs.sun.com to see if this is a known issue? If it isn't there,
    file a new bug.

  • Problems running java applet in 1.4.2

    Hi,
    I need some help with running an applet in the following environment:
    Win 98 ver 2
    jre 1.4.2
    IE 6.0
    My applet runs in AOL within the same environment. However, the one we wrote does not run in this at all. I get the characteristic grey patch. Additionally, even the 1.4.2 test applets do not run in my environment. I get status messages like "load:class LoadUpload_100 not found".
    I need to mention that 1.2 applets run in the same environment without any issues.
    Any help on this will be greatly appreciate.
    Thanks,
    Akoul.

  • Why cant i run my applet on JRE 1.6 but on JRE 1.5?

    Hello,
    I know this is a very basic problem, but i still cannot get a justified answer for this problem. Its like i have an applet which is compiled in JDk j2sdk1.4.2_16. Now when i try to run this applet on my IE under jre 1.5.* family on all the client machines it works fine. But when i switch to jre 1.6.* family, i see the applet being displayed, but i cannot perform any operations on it i no mouse clicks work and i cannot open any file menu or my jdialog boxes.
    Is it because of the incompatibilities in jre 1.6, but wont it be backward compatible to that older version applets can run on this new jre. My applet seems to be a simple applet,with only one exception that it has lot of jframes and jpanel in it.
    This problem is killing me ..
    Can someone point me towards where can i find what all changes are made in JRE 1.6 over JRE 1.5 so that atleast i can compare what is causing my applet freeze in JRE 1.6.
    i went through the release notes but cant find anything useful there.
    Please help.

    Sun ensures that newer versions of the JRE are backward compatible. Your applet should work under the newest JRE version. Have you tried running the applet in a different browser (e.g., Firefox) with JRE 1.6 to eliminate it being an IE issue?

  • 10.2 crashes when I try to convert old libraries for use in the new software. Is there a workaround for this? Or will i have to continue using the previous version to complete older projects?

    Final Cut Pro X 10.2 crashes when I try to convert old libraries for use in the new software. Is there a workaround for this? Or will I have to continue using the previous version to complete older projects? the only foreseeable solution is to begin any new projects on 10.2 or importing footage on 10.2 and starting form scratch--which is something i definitely don't want to do or have time to do. ANY advice, thoughts, or opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
    Running 10.10.3 // MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) // 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 // 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    Exactly the same problem with me.
    Some other threads advice to remove fonts, clean the caches, remove add ins but nothing works consistenty, for some it looks like it works, for me it failed.
    What I did not try yet, was to move the Render files out of the malicious library to trash.

  • Chat Applet using RMI .... trouble running the Applet using the IE browser.

    Hi,
    I'm trying to run a chat application using RMI technology. Actually, this wasn't created from the scratch. I got this one from from the cd that comes with the book I bought and I did some refinements on it to suit what I wanted to:
    These are the components of the chat application:
    1. RApplet.html - invokes the applet

    <title>Sample Applet Using Dialog Box (1.0.2) - example 1</title>

    </body>
    </html>

         System.out.println("ChatServerImplementation error:" +
                        e.getMessage());
         e.printStackTrace();
    Using my own machine (connected to a network), I tried to test this one out by setting mine as the server and also the client. I did the following:
    1. Compile the source code.
    2. Use rmic to generate the skeletons and/or stubs from the ChatCallbackImplementation and ChatServerImplementation.
    3. Start the rmiregistry with no CLASSPATH
    4. Start the server successfully.
    5. Start the applet using the AppletViewer command.
    It worked fined.
    The problem is when I ran the applet using the browser, IE explorer, the dialog boxes, frame and buttons did appear. I was able to do the part of logging on. But after that, the applet seemed to have hang. No message appeared that says I'm connected (which appeared using the appletviewer). I clicked the send button. No response.
    I double-checked my classpath. I did have my classpath set correctly. I'm still trying to figure out the problem. Up to now, I don't have any clue what it is.
    I will appreciate much if someone can help me figure what's could have possibly been wrong ....
    Thanks a lot ...

    Hi Domingo,
    I had a similar problem running applet/rmi with IE.
    Looking in IE..view..JavaConsole error messages my applet was unable to find java.rmi.* classes.
    I checked over java classes in msJVM, they're not present.
    ( WinZip C:\WINDOWS\JAVA\Packages\9rl3f9ft.zip and others from msVM installed )
    ( do not contain the java.rmi.* packages )
    I have downloaded and installed the latest msJVM for IE5. ( I think its included in later versions)
    @http://www.objectweb.org/rmijdbc/RJfaq.html I found ref to rmi.zip download to provide
    these classes. I couldn't get the classes from the site but I managed to find a ref to IBM
    site @http://alphaworks.ibm.com/aw.nsf/download/rmi which had similar download.
    The download however didn't solve my problems. I was unable to install rmi.zip with
    RmiPatch.exe install.
    I solved this by extracting the class files from rmi.zip and installing them at C:\WINDOWS\JAVA\trustlib ( msJVM installation trusted classes lib defined in
    registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Java VM\TrustedLibsDirectory )
    This solved the problem. My rmi/applet worked.
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to run an applet(in a html file) in the server?

    I am using the jpedal Viewer inmy code, I embedded the applet code

    "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jpedal/objects/acroforms/DefaultAcroRenderer
         at org.jpedal.PdfDecoder.startup(Unknown Source)
         at org.jpedal.PdfDecoder.<init>(Unknown Source)

         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)"
    What is the problem ?
    Please suggest solution for it?
    Its urgent

    I am trying to run the Applet in Tomcat server,
    Could you post the code where you invoke the Applet? It sounds like you're saying you're trying to run the Applet as part of your server-side code. The other interpretation is that you are simply accessing the Applet through the browser that happens to be on the machine being used as the server.
    Like I say, post the code that shows how you're trying to use the Applet "on the server".

  • Ever since Firefox 3, I have never been able to upgrade easily. I always get a message telling me I am replacing my version with an older version. How is that possible?

    When I download the newest version (this time it was 5, but I had the same problem with 4) and I drag the Firefox Logo to my Applications folder in Mac OSX (10.6.7) I get a message saying I am replacing my version with an OLDER VERSION. How can this be? When I check the Firefox "About" tab, it tells me I am still using 4, so how, if I just dragged 5 to my Applications folder, can I be replacing 4 with an "older" version? Truth be told, my Firefox has never functioned properly since 4, and now I have little "Firefox hard drive icons" all over my desktop. What happened?
    I am having trouble with Comcast's XFINITY and they told me to update and maximize my browser. I don't seem to be able to do that. I just downloaded Firefox 5.0, but my version still says 4.1.
