Problem w/video after downloading Itunes update.

After updating my computer with I-tunes 8....I find now that I cannot watch my music videos nor preview them on the Itunes store. What happens when I try is I get a light blue and green static that actually looks pretty neat accept I'd prefer to be watching my intended video. Anybody encounter something similar and know how to correct whatever it is that has gone wrong??? My initial thought process is that it has something to do with QuickTime but knowing exactly what I don't have a clue. Thank you for any suggestions any of you may have.

The same thing happened to me before i re-imaged my computer. Your pop-up blocker may not be allowing for the video to play. You would be able to tell this immediately, however, because a box would pop up. If a box pops up, click allow. If no box pops up then u may have to do a number of things. First, make sure you have installed all of the updates to both the Adobe Flash Player and the QuickTime player. This is most likely the cause of the problem. For me, this was the problem. If your videos still do not play, try reinstalling itunes. Your computer should run the videos now! I hope i helped! ~Shanman~

  • Problems after downloading itunes update

I downloaded the itunes update so my computer would quit asking me if I wanted to. Now about half of my music library is missing. There seem to be pieces of it in the music folder and on various playlists, but there are several duplicates, so I know it's not the whole library. I tried consolidating the library, but nothing happened. The songs I had on my nano are still on it, but I had lots more than I could fit. Also, my computer is not automatically transferring new stuff to the ipod, even though I get a message saying the ipod sync is complete. To get new songs on the nano, I have to drag and drop them. Any ideas?

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Problems mounting CDs after downloading Itunes 10 when on the internet

I'm new to both Macs and forums, so please bear with me if some of the terminology is wrong. Also, from the other posts I have looked at this seems to be a longstanding but unanswered issue, so feel free to direct me to other places if an answer is out there.
Basically, since I bought my MacbookPro in May almost all of the time cds mounted automatically and it found the CD info on the internet. Sometimes it hadn't been doing it first time round, but it wasn't too great an issue. However, earlier today I downloaded Itunes 10. Now, cds won't mount when I'm connected to the internet. In fact Itunes has a kind of flickering attack as though it's struggling to read the cd. Trying to manually mount the CDs using Disk Utility also doesn't work in this case. But if I UNcheck the "automatically retrieve cd track names from the internet" it mounts.
So, I can import cds but I don't have any of the information. Also, when I try to manually import the information ("Get track names) a message box pops up saying the information doesn't exist, which can't be the case on these widely available albums. I have tried various combinations of the suggestions mentioned (bar deleting and reinstalling software which I have no idea how to do) and nothing works.
    Finally then, my questions:
    1. Can I go back to the older version of Itunes that almost always worked? If so, how do i do so?
    2. If I was to import the cds first, is there a way of adding the track information later, given what I wrote above.
So far my first few months using a Mac have been very pleasurable. However, this problem is quite frustrating at the halfway point of importing my cd collection to my Mac, so any answers would be really appreciated.

    Similar problems but not quite.
Yesterday, I imported a few CDs no problem. Then I noticed that one of my albums on my iPhone had the tracks in the wrong order (a pain on a gapless album!) but it's OK on the iMac.
I tried to re-import but iTunes crashes every time I click 'yes' to 'would you like iTunes to import...?'
I noticed that although the disc is mounted in the finder, it's not in iTunes and neither does it go off to check gracenote.
Anyway I fixed that issue with a reboot but the wrong track order still persists.
Hey ho, just await the update I guess.

  • Problems upgrading library after downloading an update

I downloaded an update for my iPhoto (4.0.3), and the next time i tried to open iPhoto it said i needed to upgrade my library.... i said okay, and it started, but seemed to get stuck at some point.... the estimated time started going up and up until it was saying like 30 hours, and my whole computer slowed down until i had to force quit iPhoto. I've tried a few more times since and the same thing happened. I have about 5000 photos in my library.
Any help would be much appreciated! Why is it getting stuck?!

It sounds like you tried to apply an iPhoto 5 updater. There have been reports that, while the update will not succeed, it sometimes does change something in the iPhoto Library folder before it fails to find an appropriate version to update.
You will need to quit iPhoto and move the existing iPhoto Library to the desktop. Start iPhoto and have it create a new library, then quit iPhoto again. What that does is create a library that's compatible with your version of iPhoto.
Next, drag the old iPhoto Library folder from the desktop, and drop it inside the newly created iPhoto Library folder. You'll then have your original iPhoto Library folder inside the new iPhoto Library folder.
Finally, start iPhoto while holding the option+shift keys to force iPhoto to rebuild the library. Don't release them until you're prompted to confirm the intent to rebuild. Click "Yes", then click "Save".
You'll have to reconstruct albums and keyword associations.

  • Why after Downloading iTunes update it wiped out library and will not launch?

Just downloaded the latest update for iTunes, now Itunes will not launch, and looked in Windows Explorer and saw all the artist but songs folder was empty.  Restored comp to earlier date but still have same problem

"C:\Windows\system32\softpub.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with one of the Windows OS dlls associated with Cryptographic Services.
I'd first try the fixit from the following Microsoft document. (One of the things it does is reregister your copy of the softpub.dll file.)
You cannot install some updates or programs
... but if you still get the issue, I'd try an sfc /scannow as per the instructions in the following document:

  • Problem with texting after downloading iOS7 update.

I downloaded the iOS7 update yesterday.  Now I am receiving my wife's texts.  Both of our phones share her Apple ID.  This wasn't happening before.  Anyone know how to prevent my phone (iPhone5) from receiving her texts (iPhone4s)?  Thanks.

Went to settings>messages>send & receive and unchecked my wife's email address.  Not sure why that selection was defaulted to after the update, but unchecking it solved the problem.

  • Problems that ocurred after downloading itunes 7

I recently downloaded the new version of itunes, itunes 7, onto my computer. Whenever I opened up this new version it started to do something like checking the 'gapless playback' and it seemed to be going through all of my songs. At first everything seemed to be working fine, but after a little while the program froze up and stopped doing the check for gapless playback. At this time the onscreen arrow for the mouse then turned into a circle of spinning colors and I could not do anything with the itunes program except go up to force quit to get it to stop. So, this whole process begins right when I open the program and I don't even get a chance to listen to any music or do anything before it freezes up with that spinning color circle thing. I hope someone understands what I am trying to explain. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I just want to be able to use my itunes like I did before I downloaded this new version. help....

  • Computer problems in general after newest iTunes update

I initially posted this as a reply in a different forum, but was informed that I should start my own post instead. Here's the original post.
After installing this latest update to iTunes, my computer has been acting very slow. The web browser takes forever to load where it once loaded in a split second. I've ran the OnyX program to try and reset my permissions and that has not worked, I was unable to "ignore" these permissions, and it takes a good 10 minutes for me to now connect to an external harddrive through a network, where as with the web, it would load without an issue before this update. I don't know if there is something I am doing wrong, or if any of this is related to it. However, it wasn't until I installed this update that all of this started happening, and I don't much believe in coincidence.
    Thanks!
    Zac

Quick question: How big is your hard drive, and how much free space do you have left on it?
Another quick question: Have you restarted since you ran Onyx and after you repaired permissions?
Try booting up in safe mode and see if performance is still really slow.
    to boot in safe mode:
    1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
    2. Press the power button.
    3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
    4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).

  • Sound/Video Problem after Downloading iTunes 10.5

I recently downloaded the most recent iTunes update, 10.5. After downloading it, I am having problems with the sound and picture of television shows. When I try to watch a tv show, the sound is muffled, and the picture slows or skips constantly. This happens on every tv show I've tried to play, not just one. I haven't noticed any problems with sound from songs though. I had this problem once before after downloading the previous version of iTunes, and completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes to solve the issue, and it worked. However, I tried doing it once again this time, and there was no success. I've tried disabling sound enhancements, and that also had no effect. Quicktime is installed and updated as well. I'm running Windows 7. Any help or advice is appeciated.

I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean. iTunes doesn't save a folder of playlists, but if you mean that the iTunes library is empty, or doesn't contain playlists that it had before the upgrade then either restore your backup or make use of the following...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps youshouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • ITunes won't open after downloading software update.  Macbook Pro OSX10.6.8  Simple solution?

iTunes won't open after downloading software update.  Macbook Pro OSX10.6.8  Simple solution?  And by the way, this is apparently a common problem and Apple has completely failed to warn in advance or offer a quick straightforward solution - used to be a good company, but it's becoming just another crappy screw-the-consumer corporation.

It would help to know versions here.  I'm guessing your update put an older version of something into a place where a newer version of something iTunes put in there existed.  Updating an earlier OSX version to 10.6.8 is still only updating to system software that was issued several years ago.  If you are running some slightly newer version of iTunes issued subsequent to 10.6.8 and you just updated to 10.6.8 you may have put in an older version of something iTunes uses.  Anyway, I'm guessing here until we know exactly what you did.

  • Itunes shows only 4.3.5 update even after downloading itunes 10.5 on mac..

itunes shows only 4.3.5 update even after downloading itunes 10.5 on mac..

    Problem solved.
In iTunes, I selected Backup from my iPod's contextual menu under Devices. I then did a restore and all the music is back. It only took a few minutes.
These choices are only available via the device contextual menu, not the main iTunes pull-down menus.

Have you experience a problem about losing your internet after downloading itunes? How to fix it?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Replace the jack yourself

I researched the advice on the link provided by b noir as well as very similar advice from apple support: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376. It worked for me (for now).
    Some things of note:
I did all of the things requested by the link I provided
My computer WOULD NOT uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. I had to manually remove the folder (also as instructed by the url)
I also uninstalled MobileMe. Was a little different than removing the other apps. Follow instructs provided here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2992
    I did not uninstall iCloud
I have to admit it was a bit scary removing all those things. Is important to note that when re-installing Apple, follow steps to do so as Administrator (the right-click thingy and whatnot).
    Hope this helps!
