Problem when converting colors to cmyk using fixup
The problem is in the fixup -> colorspaces -> Convert colors.
It seems "Rendering Intent" is in fact always relative, although e.g. perceptual is selected.
Am I doing something wrong?
If not, Is there a solution or work around?
hi monika!
no they are just plain old paths in black. and the TIFF file is just a regular TIFF file that is being placed on the bottom layer.

Problem when converting RGB to CMYK in illustrator CC
Today I realized I had my document in RBG mode rather than CMYK. I am drawing die lines over a CMYK TIFF file placed in the document. When I try to convert my illustrator document color mode from RGB to CMYK everything in the document goes white - including the CMYK TIFF file that I have placed in it.
I can highlight the paths and see them only when they are highlighted but Illustrator will not allow me to select a new color for them.
In older versions of Illustrator I have had it would seamlessly convert to CMYK without changing everything to white.
I tried creating a new document with CMYK color mode and pasting the items in and it still goes all white.
In illustrator CS3 it converts just fine from RGB to CMYK with no image loss and no color loss on my dieline paths. but because my version of CS3 is acting crazy it won't allow me to save files from it
any help appreciated!!
thank you so muchhi monika!

Hyperlink problem when converting Word to PDF
Hi everyone.
I am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard version 7.1.4 on a Windows 2000 environment.
I am using Word XP/2002 SP3.
I have a couple of problems when converting Word to PDF.
When converting a long link which is in 2 lines, PDF just takes one line into account, not considering the whole link
When I have hyperlinks that links to a web page, the link works fine in Word but in pdf, it gets the few words after the url address making the link not work. For example. I have a hyperlink that http://www.google.com/ and after this I have the words: "This is a sample text". The hyperlink in pdf would then become http://www.google.comThisisasampletext
Do you have any ideas how I can correct this?
Thanks. To get the cross references, you have to use Convert to PDF (PDF Maker part of the Acrobat product). However, you first need to go to the print menu and set the printer to the Adobe PDF printer. Close the print menu and then do a reflow and link update of the document (ctrl-A, then F9 I think). This is needed to get the links correct since WORD reflows the document based on the printer (problem with them going to the wrong place).
Printing to the Adobe PDF printer (the step of print to file is not needed, just print to the printer and the rest is automatic) does not include the links. PDF Maker is a PreProcessor for the Adobe PDF printer that adds PDF Marks to the PS file before it is sent to Distiller (OK, the printer when used normally creates a PS file and then invokes Distiller to complete the process - your steps did with the Adobe PDF printer is the same process done manually).
Summary:
1. Fix document after setting the printer to Adobe PDF.
2. Use PDF Maker (create PDF button) -
Why does all alphabets change to capital when converting pdf to word using Adobe Acrobat XI
Why does all alphabets change to capital when converting pdf to word using Adobe Acrobat XI
Word 2013 uses its own pdf creator engine as far as I know. The step I performed were:
1 - In the save settings I told word to embed fonts (sorry for the language, I have the Italian client)
2 - Export from Word -> Save As -> .pdf adding also the table of contents/index
N.B. I cannot use PDF/A, and in any case it doesn't embed the font
A working solution is to use Acrobat XI to convert it or print with Adobe PDF printer, results:
The problems are 2:
1 - It doesn't create any bookmark and doesn't create links from the table of images to the linked images
2 - Images, also with the preset "High Quality Printing" customized using "No compression", are really ugly and if you zoom a bit more than 100% they totally be s**t. It wasn't that way with PDF created by word.
In the end, or I find they way to open the pdf created by word and embedd the missing font, or I find a way to make Acrobat XI creating bookmarks from the word file.

Persistent "Converting colors to CMYK" progress bar
There is a file I've been working on for a couple of weeks that I am all of a sudden having issues opening. I applied some effects to a photo within the document, and ever since then the program has been freezing up or having issues opening the file. It keeps on cycling through dozens of progress windows that say "Converting colors to CMYK". The progress bar loads in about 10 seconds before another one, exactly the same as the last, shows up. I've sat there and watched it cycle through like this for over 30 minutes on multiple occasions in the last 24 hours, just trying to be patient and see if it will ever load.
I have tried rebooting the computer, restarting the program, and downloading the latest updates. Nothing has made a difference. The file size is 26.6 MB with around 20 photos in it, and my computer isn't the fastest in the world, but this shouldn't take forever. Does anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks,
Zac

8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MBI don't know if this will work but try setting the scratch disk for Illustrator to the Seagate instead of the internal HD and see if you have better luck. With less than 20% of the HD available it is starting to become a problem. Have you ever resaved the file with a Save As and overwritten the original? If you have been changing the images without doing this there is likely a lot of old previews and such held in the hidden part of the file which will be cleared by doing this.

Log Message:
Fix for autoCenter problem when Move/Resize effects are used. autoCenterTransform calculates the center dynamically, using the current width/height of the target. This calculation can be one frame off if a Resize effect is running in parallel with the transform effect. Also, containers do their validation lazily, so they need to be forced to validate in order to have an up-to-date width/height. This fix addresses these problems by reordering the effects in a Parallel hierarchy to put the Resize effects (and composite effects containing Resize) at the front of the set of effects and by calling validateNow() on the target of a transform effect prior to calculating the transform center (if appropriate).

Rich black when converting RGB to CMYK
I'm working in an older version of PhotoShop (7) but any help on the topic would definitely help.
My problem is that I am converting RGB native images to CMYK and my Key (Black) comes out rich, contains equal levels of CMY and K, instead of true black, only k.
Currently my way around this is to do the standard convert to profile CMYK and with my path selected to the section I would like to be true black simply turn off all CM and Y channels and re-save the image but this is a little labor intensive.
Is there a way that I can go straight from RGB to CMYK and achieve true black without alteration?Yes, there is. You can use a CMYK setup or ICC CMYK profile that uses Maximum black generation. Unfortunately, that will almost always hose anything photographic in your image.
Is it typographical elements that are becoming four color? If so, then they should be done in a page layout program where they can be rasterized separately from the photographic image. If it is type you're worried about, is it large type or small? If you have to set large type in Ps, then it's probably fine to let it run four color.
If it were me and I had to do everything in Ps, I would probably make two conversions of the file to CMYK - one with a standard black generation and one with Max K. I would then select the black you want from the max K version and paste into the K channel of the "normal" document, and then use that as a selection to delete from the other three channels.
A third way is to do type in Ps and leave the type as a vector type layer, then save the file out as a Photoshop PDF, which is then placed in a layout app. or just sent to the printer through his RIP. That should work too, but there are too many places for things to wrong for my taste. -
Get wrong bookmark levels when converting Word to PDF using Acrobat 7.0
I am using MS Word 2003, Windows XP and Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
When converting a DOC to PDF, all features are perfect except the bookmarks are located at the wrong level, i.e., the first chapter "Introduction" is the first level, which is desired; but the second chapter and the later will be placed as the subitems of the first one. This is a severe problem for me for I need a very accurate convertion.
P.S. I set the convertion level of bookmarks correctly before the convertion.
So I wonder if there is any solution relating to the settings of Word or Acrobat.
I am using Acrobat 7 because the later versions(8.0 etc.) has the running header problem. If 7.0 is also problematic. I don't know which version can do a perfect conversion.Thank you for your answer Lori. I 've checked all the desired options and have done the conversion in Acrobat 8.0 and got right levels(but that one got problematic running headers). So i think this may be the problem of acrobat 7.0. I will try the other updated versions to see if there is any improvement.

Preserving Black color values when converting color PDF to grayscale
I opened a full colored PDF document (exported from InDesign using Profile: Euroscale Coated v2) in Photoshop and tried to convert it to grayscale (image > mode > grayscale) and noticed that the black color values changed. text for example that was 100% black in the PDF document became a screen of 91% black.
is there a way to preserve color values when converting full color PDF documents to grayscale?
or in other words WHICH is the correct way to convert full color PDF documents or full color InDesign files to grayscale?
I am using Adobe CS 3, Acrobat 8 Professional, on Mac OS 10.5.5Before you open the PDF in Photoshop, set PS's Color Settings to Photoshop 5 Default Spaces. When you open the PDF set the Mode to Grayscale in the Import dialog. Just remember to reset your color settings when you're done.
Edit: Also, if you want to match black percentages as well as 100% black, set the Photoshop Color Settings to Photoshop 5 Default Spaces with the Gray working space to Dot Gain 20%. -
Link problem when converting MS Word to PDF with Acrobat Professional
Hello all,
I have the following problem:
When I have a MS Word document with links to other files inside and I convert it to PDF the links are converted from relative paths to absolute paths.
The problem is created by Acrobat as the links in the MS Word file are relative (I have checked this by moving the different docs to another directory and confirmed that the links still work after the move).
How can I make the paths in the PDF relative again? I know there is a plugin from Evermap (and I can confirm this works) but I do not want to use this plugin (=read: spend another $190 dollars) as the license for the Acrobat Professional is expensive enough . Is there a way I can convert the paths within Adobe Acrobat easily? Or better: can I adjust the settings in Acrobat to a new standard when all converted documents contain relative paths?
Backgroundinfo:
- Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
- Windows XP (SP2)
- MS Word 2002
Thanks in advance!
BartDear Steve,
I have tried what u suggested: I put all the documents (word + linked documents) into the same folder on the local-drive (C). Then I recreated the links in the word document to be sure they were matching. After that I converted the word document to an PDF and confirmed the links were still working in the PDF document.
Then the biggest challenge: copying the pdf and linked documents to another drive&directory. As you can guess: Unfortunately the links did not work anymore.
Any other suggestions?
If I use the Evermap-tool (30 day-trial) I can look at the links and this is how it is 'coded' in the pdf.
first link: ../../../../test/link_a.pdf
second link: ../../../../test/link_b.pdf
and yes this will work if you put the documents in the directory test in the root of the local-drive but not in a different subdirectory.
Anyone ideas?
Grtz,

I am working on a project in which I will be receiving charts created in Excel and converted into pdfs. I will be printing on an offset press, so I'll take the charts into Illustrator and clean them up first. In my test, I select an element with color and in the pulldown menu of the swatches palette, select "cmyk". When I check it later, it has converted back to rgb. Is there a better way of doing this?
Make sure you Document Color Mode (File menu) is CMYK. It is beyond frustrating that Illustrator lets you spec colors in RGB when working on a CMYK document and vice-versa. In an RGB illustration, CMYK values entered are converted to RGB. What's the point of speccing 0,0,0,100, when Illustrator convert that to 35,31,32 in RGB, which is then displayed as CMYK 69.76, 67.52, 63.86, 73.96? If there is a good reason for doing this, I've never heard it.

Set different PO type when convert PR to PO using ME59N
Hi SAP,

Refer OSS note : 1361265
You can use the implementation of the BAdI ME_BSART_DET to adjust document type determination according to your requirements.
The attached sample implementation ensures that the document types that are maintained for EA-DFPS are always found in transactions ME59N and /ISDFPS/PRPLD.
If this sample does not meet your requirements, adjust the source code according to your requirements.
Proceed as follows:
Call transaction SE19 (BAdI Builder: Initial Screen for Implementations).
In the "Create Implementation" section, select "Classic BAdI", enter the BAdI name "ME_BSART_DET", and choose "Create Impl.".
Enter an implementation name, for example, ZISDFPS_ME_BSART_DET.
Confirm the customer namespace information and on the next screen, enter your own short text for the implementation.
Save and activate the BAdI implementation.
The implementing class is also specified on the "Interface" tab page.
Double-click to navigate to this class. Implement the method IF_EX_ME_BSART_DET~BSART_DETERMINE as described in the correction instructions.

Problems when converting Office files into forms in Vista
Hi,
I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat X Pro but am having a problem when trying to convert office files (word and excel) into forms on my laptop running Vista.
I open Acrobat and select create or edit form and get the window to select the file which is fine.
I then select to import a file from file system which is ok so I browse and select the appropriate file and select next and I get the below error.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as updating but it had no effect.
I have uninstalled it and installed it on a computer running XP and it all works fine.
PLEASE HELP!!!!Since you seem to be on a 64-bit system, be sure you have updated Acrobat and are not running AA 10.0.0. Can you run PDF Maker (the create PDF button) in WORD?

Edited by: p y on Aug 3, 2010 10:57 AMwhat do you think based on what SAP should know whether it has to do rounding or not?
Why should SAP not round if a rounding rule is entered?
when a human is converting the PR to a PO, then a warning message is issued, if the user then enters the old quantity again, SAP accepts it.
A background program cannot do such decisions, it has to rely on given master data.
