Problem when Nano connected to USB at Boot for PC
I have a Nano 4GB than for some strange reason, when plugged into a USB port (2.0), frequently causes the computer to either delay the boot process (~ 1 min+) or (rarely) cause the computer to reboot during the device initialization process. If I unplug the iPod, the problem goes away. The Event Viewer is clean. The computer is otherwise wicked fast, so the delay is quite noticable.
I am using a dock instead of the straight plug but my understanding is that the dock is passive.
Any thoughts as to what might cause this???

Check your computer's BIOS settings and look at the boot order.
It might be trying to boot your machine from the iPod, as it may be seeing it as an external USB hard drive.
Many new machines can boot from USB devices now.

Sorry about the long title.....its my first post.
My kid just got a brand new iPod 5th generation (today from Santa) and it won't power up or charge. My Macbook is getting freeze when i connect with USB cable
After I updated to OSX 10.7.4 Lion (Default 64bit).I try to use the touch panel device that I using before. But it keeping occur system freeze when I connect the usb cable.
Sometime I can operate it normal but the percentage is very low.
What 's the problem on?Could be a bad cable or the device isn't compatible with Lion and it is causing problems.

My MacBook Pro shuts down when i connect a USB cable, only when its a 30 pin apple cable. Well one USB shuts it down and the other one doesn't work at all.
it only happens when i use an apple cable. It has no problem with my external drive nor with other things.
Ps. i did use different apple cables and they all shut it down.What are you connecting? iPad, iPhone, what?
When you say a 30-pin Apple cable do you mean a Lightening to USB cable?

When I connect the USB dongle from the camera connection kit I get an accessory not supported by iPad message. The card reader triggered the same msg but works now. Same msg with vga. Others have posted this problem but the only suggestion anyone has offered is to reboot, which doesn't help. I've tried.
Thanks Fred. The nearest Apple store is about two hours away, so we did the next best thing & took it to Best Buy. It stumped the "Apple Guy" there. Apparently when an Apple product is turned on it works. Period. I'm impressed that the products are normally so dependable--it just stinks that I got the one in a million that's not. Anyway, now we wait for a service call Tuesday morning. Thanks again!

It's strange, on my work issued Windows laptop I have no issues syncing my iPhone to iTunes. But on my personal MacBook, iTunes does not pick up my iPhone when I connect via USB. Any advice on this please?

Just open your LG volume up likes its an external HD and drag all photos onto a folder in your macbook Air.

I get the following error message when I connect a usb ethernet adapter to my new MacBook Pro: Unsupported - You cannot use an Apple USB Modem with this computer. I live where we only have dial-up and the Apple Store said this is what I need. In addition, when I connect the phone to the connecter it falls out, it will not click in.
Why are you using a usb ethernet adaptor? Just plug the modem into the usb port.

That usually means that you previously synced your iPhone to a different computer. An iPhone can only sync to one computer. If you try to sync to a different one the iTunes content on the phone will be replaced by the contents of the new computer. -

That is probably a lot of stuff you do not want on your iPhone. So this can be handled a few different was. For you current situation, you can delete the apps directly on your iPhone by holding on the app until it starts to jiggle and then tap on the X of all the apps that you do not want. The second thing you can do is before you sync with iTunes, look at the app section on your iPhone to know what gets transfer to it and you can deselect items that you do not want. Lastly, if you download content on your iPad and it is a universal app, you can actually download it directly to your iPhone by looking at your past purchases and download it directly from the App Store. Ok. Many USB's trigger the too much power warning. If you have a memory card, try doing it that way. Or you can experiment with other USB sticks. I've literally had a 50/50 success rate with the ones I've tried. You can try another one. Off brands seem to work better, along with smaller ones. The largest I've had work was a 4 gig. Kingston and Sandisk often trigger the too much power warning.
Do you know the naming format to make it work? Have a folder named DCIM in the upper level and make sure that all the photos have a name of exactly 8 characters.
