Problem when Saving Outline

Hello:
We're working with Essbase 9.3.1 and when we try to save the outline an error window appears: The title of the window is "outline message" and it shows an error icon, but without showing any message, just "[]", and the outline is not saved. In some occasions the error didn't appear, it is random, but now we've not been able to save the outline for several days.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be happening? Any suggestion will be helpful.

I suppose- You are not getting this error while trying to save the outline from Web. (If yes, go through this blog of John Goodwin: http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2008/09/never-ending-eas-outline-save.html)
Did you check from Essbase logs if Restructuring process has failed? Which application type is yours? ASO or BSO?
You may want to make a copy of the application, do some changes(on the copy) & try saving it. If it still doesn't let you save, clear the data(in your cube copy) & try to save. In either case, I believe- Logs should let you trace the root cause.

well there are really many possibilities for that.
have you once waited, if the task will finish?
if it does finish i would suggest to do a SQL-Trace with TA ST05.
If this is possible, the performance trace will show you quite by detail where your process time is beeing used.
To find out why so much time is used in that position then is another thing.
But once you got the problem identified you should be able to exlude some reasons like (inperformant selects or such).

Problem when saving the outline

Hello:
We're working with Essbase 9.3.1.
When saving an outline with EAS, the message windows "Starting save of outline" appears and it never close (even if the modification is as simple as adding an alias or an UDA). We've found that If we make Ctrl+Alt+Supr and press cancel in the client machine, the message disappear inmediately. So, it seems a Java problem. Does anyone knows any solution for this issue?

Hi,
I take it you are accessing EAS through the web client, if you it will probably down to using the 1.6 JRE.
You can install the 1.5 JRE and go to control panel > java > Java > disabled the 1.6 versions and keep just the 1.5

Problem when saving form in web dynpro abap application in se80

I am trying to develop an adobe application. When I save the form which i have designed.
I get the "error" unable to convert data and the transaction is terminated.

Problem when saving an order after using userexit_save_document

We are doing an enhacement in sales order capture, and we have next problem, after saving the order, the change of adding the new order is not saved in CDHDR table with the I (of Insert), that's only one problem, but I have another worst , after I use exit save_document, I'm saving data in a Z table, and debugging the program, when I finish the exit save_document the Z table is Ok saved, with the correct data saved, but when I pulse F8 to make the order being complete saved, something is happening because the Z table changes its values as if I run the VA02 , but I'm still in VA01 finishing the saving of the new order, It's very weird, and I don't know if somebody has experimented something like this, please let me know, because its very Urgent!!

Hi,
To have the changed values being reflected in CDHDR, for the fields you wanted to track the changes- In Ztable, AT Dataelement level, In FURTHER CHARACTIRSTICS tab check the box CHANGES DOCUMENT, if you check this checkbox then this becomes the pre requisite for the CDHDR entires. Then in SCDO trnsaction try to cretae a Change document object for this table.
I think the table is not locked for entires. For this table provide the authorization checks then we can restirct others to enter the value into the table.
Try to use Authorization objects or LOCK related Function modules like ENQUEUE and DEQUEQUE.

Problems when Saving as PDF in Framemaker 9

Hello,
Our department is having a couple of problems when 'Save as PDF' is used to create a PDF in FM9.   We all use WindowsXP.
Problem #1: No PDF created.   A window appears stating that Distiller 5.0.5 or higher is required; we all have Distiller 9.0 installed. So it doesn't seem to recognize that Distiller 9.0 is available. NOTE: When PRINTING to PDF there are no issues, it is uses Distiller 9.0 as expected.
Problem #2: PDF is created but chunks of text are missing.
We need to Save as PDF in order for our reviewer comments to automatically be added when importing back into Framemaker.
Can anyone help?

Since you mention that you're on XP, have you installed the PostScript
printer Hotfix from Microsoft?
That would be my starting point for trouble-shooting because it
specifically addresses at least one of your issues.

If the requirement is for one time data transfer then it is better to delete the condition records before the transfer and then add it again after the transfer.
( This is the way we normally do for initial data transfer ).
If its an ongoing process then you will have to use routines as IDOC will only create the document . Output processing is done by the Contract Create program itself and not by IDOC Function Module . The only thing is intead of SY-BATCH you can use some other way to distinguish whether the contract is being created by IDOC .
Now you have not mentioned whether you will use standard FM IDOC_INPUT_BLAORD or write your own Z Function for IDOC processing.
I am giving a sloution for both.
In IDOC_INPUT_BLAORD there is a user exit
EXIT_SAPLEINN_002 ( ZXM06U10 ). You can just write one line here
DATA FLAG VALUE 'X'.
EXPORT FLAG TO MEMORY ID 'BLAORD'
Or In you custom FM you can write
DATA FLAG VALUE 'X'.
EXPORT FLAG TO MEMORY ID 'BLAORD'
In the requirement routine as suggested in previous post
use
DATA FLAG.
SY-SUBRC = 0 .
IMPORT FLAG TO MEMORY ID 'BLAORD'.
IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0 AND FLAG = 'X'.
>>> C0de will branch here only when executed thru IDOCs
SY-SUBRC = 4 .
ENDIF.
With above method only when contract created thru IDOCs messages will be suppressed.

Photoshop CS6 transparent mask causing problems when saved as RGB Tiff and placed into CS5 Indesign

Is anyone aware of a gray/black halo around feathered transparency objects. The halo occurs where the solid area of pic feathers to the transparent.
NOTE: Image looks fine in Photoshop(CS6) but when placed as an RGB TIFF into Indesign (CS5) a black halo appears on page. See visual explanation below.
This only happens when image is an RGB Tiff and layer mask is used to create transparency. If image is saved as .psd then it is fine. Also when RGB tiff is converted to CMYK then this is also ok.

Ideally I could just start using psd format, but I have to handle alot of images that are already in RGB tiff and it is time consuming to have to open and re-save all of these.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 RGB tiffs are still working fine.

Yes the halo is does appear on the final PDF used for printing, and therefore does unfortunately print.
Why would RGB Tiffs in Photoshop CS6 suddenly cause this to happen. If we revert back to placing Photoshop CS5 files into Indesign, all is good.
Also it is not just an isolated event as my colleague has the same thing happening on his workstation.
Could it be that that Indesign 5 cannot colour manage the new CS6 RGB Tiff files?
CMYK tiff works well, as does PSD (CMYK and RGB)
Also please note, that if you were trying to recreate this to see if you get the samed problem, the halo occurs as soon as you create transparency with a layer mask and feather the edge of mask, and then save as RGB tiff. It will not be visible if you have a hard line or a vector edge.

Problem when saving as an .eps

Hey guys I created a vector and I wanna save it as an EPS file. My fonts were turned to outlines ofcourse.
So here what I did.
File>save as>eps and the option "embed fonts for..." was checked(don't know if matters)
My problem is that when I open the EPS file and going Window>link all the letters appear to be linked(rastered) which I don't want this.
I need my design to be just vector and nothing else.
I would be greatful if you can make it clear why this is happening and what to do in order to avoid it in the future.

PS: Illustrator CS6

Are you using some other app on windows, this should not happen if you are using Illustrator to open a .eps. Open the .eps on mac .ai to confirm the file is vector, before going to PC.
Do you have any effects on the letters?
If you are going to windows why not save as a .ai file. If you have the font on Windows, then you don't have to outline (opentype format is best).

CS6 Color Channel Problem When Saving Oil Paint Files

When I save an OIL PAINT file created in Photoshop CS6, it saves with red and blue shapes over the image. Before saving, the image looks fine. I'm running windows 8. Is it me or a CS6 bug?

There were some driver problems that caused single tile artifacts when running Oil Paint.
Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?

Problem when saving a PowerPoint 2008 for Mac file to PDF.

When I save my PowerPoint 2008 for Mac file as a PDF, the text/font comes out wrong in the PDF -- kind of looks degraded (thinner, darker, more pixilated). I've tried changing the font in the PowerPoint file many times and tried saving it as a PDF both directly and through print -- but each time the text/font doesn't come through correctly in the PDF. The images/photos in the PowerPoint file all convert to the PDF just fine. Can anyone help?

Gradient mesh transparency problem when saving for web

Hi,
I created a shadow using a gradient mesh but I can't seem to figure out how to set the mesh points to multiply. As a result, when I do save for web, the white parts get saved as opaqe areas and the shadow png can't be placed on a colored background. Help.

...and aside from what Monika said, consider the limitations of transparency handling in web image formats as well as what impact the differences in handling of transparancies between browsers may have on the web site design.

AppleScript Problem when saving Web Receipt

Hi everybody!
I bought a Macbook. Everytime I try to save receipts and invoices as PDF files in my Web Receipts folder (By pressing the Apple Key - P, and selecting PDF - Save PDF in Web Receipt), I get an error saying that the receipt has already been saved: AppleScript error (-41). When I go to the Web Receipts folder, there is nothing there...
What should I do?

Hebrew problem when saving reports

Hi,
There are two users in the same department who have the ability to save reports. The reports are saved in Plus and are in Hebrew.
One of them has no problem while the other has the problem whereby the Hebrew in the parameters and titles are all upside down question marks. They basically are saving the same reports so it is not a problem of a specific report.
I tried changing the language icon in the computer to Hebrew to see if that would help, but it doesn't.
Any suggestions?

The User does not have the time today, but tomorrow I will check the User's Regional and Language Options. Maybe that is the source of the problem.
I will update the forum as to the results. If that is not the problem and there are no other suggestions, I will open a Service Request at Metalink.

Problem when saving files (file already exists-)

Woking in CS5.1.
When I save a document (as opposed to "save as"):
I get a message "some of the specified files already exist in the target location. The files marked below will be replaced".
The file I am working on gets saved, but creates a second version "file name-01.ai"
Any ideas?

Works fine here CS5 on Windows.
When I save, it will warn me only if the file with the same name already exists and if I choose to replace it it will replace the existing file keeping the name I'm saving it with.
