Problem while opening a pdf file

Hi,
when i try to open a certain pdf file directly by clicking on the link, the reader hangs up.
when i start the reader and try to open the file directly after that, the reader hangs up.
But when i open the reader, let it run for a minute or two and open the file then, then it works fine.
Anyone got an idea what the problem is?

Dear All,
I have uploaded a PDF Document of around 30 pages in KM and made an iview to view that document but when i click on the iview the document is not opening properly and after sometime the Portal/system is getting hanged.But when i open the pdf document with less number of pages it is working fine.
I am using EP 7.0 and Adobe Reader 8.1.
Any help or suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Doesnt seem to appear as a portal issue neither it is a reader issue. Might be some issues with the network which isnt allowing the entire file to get downloaded and hence causing the browser to hang.

Why does reader freeze while opening some pdf files and others open instantaneously?

I use pdf files created from CamScanner and shared from DropBox. In DropBox, many times (over 50%) while opening the PDF the process freezes and the error message is Adobe Reader is not responding. If you close the program, and re-open the file, it opens fine. I have saved these files to my computer and the same issue occurs. The files are 100-500kb, so I do not think size is the issue. I have reinstalled Reader (11.1.10) and there is no improvement.

Problem while opening the PDF

Hi All,
Iam having an issue while opening the PDF-Attachment in which iam sending it as attachment to the mail.While opening the PDF iam getting the error that "Aodbe Reader could not open the document because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged(for example,it was sent as an email attachment and was'nt correctly decoded)".
The function-module "SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1" is getting use to send the attachment.
First iam converting the internal table data into PDF and then am sending the mail with PDF-attchment.

Even i had a smilar problem. The reason is perhaps the data in internal table doesnt get converted into PDF corectly. In my case i had to convert into PDF and download on local machine. Attching below code for it.Maybe u can get pointers to your problem.

Problem to open with PDF file created in acrobat 5.0

Hi,
I always open my pdf files with acrobat 5.0, but now I made the instalation of Acrobat Reader 7.0 and now when I try to open the pdf files I only see blank pages.
There is some option to fix this problem?

Problem with opening of PDF file, generated through smartform

Recently, I have developed a new program where, the output of smartform will generate a PDF file, and then that PDF file will be mailed to concern persons,
I have sucessuly done this in development server, and further testing I have transported this to Quality, in Quality i am able to generated a pdf file and able to send it to mail box of concern person, but when concern person tries to open the PDF file, it gives the error stating 'There was an error in opening the document, The file is damaged and could not be repaired'
But same, I can able to read from development server.
When I asked the Basis person, they are not aware about it, and , I have make it sure that, I have transported all request to Quality and nothing is pending in development.
Can you please give me some idea to sort out this issue.

I have Adobe Reader 10.1.3 installed on my system.
I am getting the following error : "Adobe Reader could not open 'abc.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged(for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)". This error is coming at random, i.e. if I open a file at one time, it will open without any problem, but at another time the same file gives this problem. Could anyone please tell me as to why this is happening and how to resolve this?

This message occurs if a PDF file is damaged, either during downloading from a website, or during transport as an email attachment.
Are you getting this error for a file that is stored on your local HD? For this to occur at random, as you write, I can only imagine that the disk sector where it is stored is damaged.
Can you run a disk diagnostics, e.g. CHKDSK on Windows?

WebInterface Server - Error while opening the PDF file

Hello,
We are using webinterface to display the MSDS genearated.
Our customers use the link provided to them for displaying the msds.
We imported a few MSDS ( CG36 ), which are in PDF format & displayed successfully on the webinterface server.
However the newly generated MSDS ( Create Report ) from SAP EH&S system are not getting displayed on the webinterface server. We are getting following error message:
Error reading resulitng document from filesystem. Class:
COM.td.ehswww.results.EhsDocument.
Method:getResolvedDocument().This error could have been caused by a misconfigured filter.ini.
We checked and found that the filter.ini file is same on both quality & production system.
We are able to generate & display the report successfully on quality webinterface server.
Problem only appears on the production webinterface server.
We also tried to search for the SAP notes on this issue.
But we could not find out any relevant note for our issue.
Any help in this regarding is highly appreciated.

We checked on both quality & production webinterface server.
The Tomcat service is not executed with any specific user.
The system is working fine on quality , we are getting errors only on the production.
We also identified a strange behavior on the production web interface server.
We are able to see files under following menu path:
There are error files getting generated.
I guess these error files are getting generated while converting the rtf file to pdf file.
The resultant PDF file is not getting generated and hence system is giving the error on the webpage.
Can you guide us as to why these error files are getting generated .? What can be the root cause of this issue.? and How to prevent this.?

Problem while opening the excel files

Hi
In my system , i have excel reports in my server disk . And i am opening the excel files through an action class like /viewReport.do?id=23 .....and thus from the action class i open my excel file .
After opening one excel file , i try to open another excel by clicking that link , then my system often hangs else excel shows an error saying "a report with name viewReport.do is already open " even though both of these files are different on the server
How can i avoid this ??
The reason why i am opening the excel file through an action class is , i need to perform some operations before opening that excel report
i tried by setting the
response.setHeader("Content-disposition","attachment; filename=myWorksheet.xls");
and i kept on changing the names but that doesnt work

Then, let's do some test to narrow down the issue.
I notice that you are using Office 2010, does the issue occur only with 'Reachlocal.xlsx' or every existed file?
If every Excel file has the issue, please try the following methods:
Open the file in
safe mode.
Repair Office 2010.

Problem while opening an excel file

I am trying to open an excel file by clicking a link where it goes to action class and then sets the content type to excel and I am opning it from there�but the strange thing is that a file download opens with open/save/cancel but in the same window but it is showing a warning in the dailog box(windows warning which comes as an exclamatory mark) saying "This type of file could harm your computer if it conatins malicious code" and on cliking open it shows a dialog saying "Could not open http://localhost:8080/context/myaction.do?fileName=3.xls" .Dont know why its trying to opne my action url rather than it should look for 3.xls in my folder

Hi,
Try saving the file and then check if extension is xls. If you are not able to do anything (open, save), try to call the same application (file), from other machine, as sometimes browser gives the problem.
If still problem occurs, then copy paste the code for setting the content type here.

I have noticed this problem in ff5 too. Suggest me is it a bug my machine or it came with it. If this issue is real i can provide more detail how often/ on what stages it happens.

Problem with opening of PDF in my webmail application

I have a problem with opening a pdf file in my webmail application of my internet provider in apple safari since yesterday. When I wanted to open up a pdf file I got a pop up message to allow a connection between adobe and the webmail application which I did. Since then I can not open up a pdf file. If I go to another browser or if I use email from another internet provider I use too it works and I can open up. It seems to be a blockage of the specific combination of this webmail application and safari.
What can I do ?

Problem while opening Excel through OLE

I am facing a problem while opening an excel file through OLE. it is working fine in SAP ECC 5.0, but the problem is in ECC 6.0.
I am adjusting the cells for auto fit. I have written the code like below.

When I am executing the statement set property of e_appl 'VISIBLE' = 1. the return code is coming as 2.
Could anybody please help me to overcome this problem.

In ECC 6.0, if the worksheet is portedcted SAP unable to open that sheet, now we have taken out this option so it is working.

We are also opening a pdf file constructed from a byte stream passed from an RFC. Our problem is that we are experiencing inconsistent results. The file appears to open on some PC workstations but not on others. When it doesn't work we simply get a blank screen in the window. Did you resolve your issue? If so, perhaps you can provide us with some suggestions for solving our problem.
