Problem while starting and logging off windows 7 pro

Hi,
Last Month I have purchase a Lenovo T440P laptop with windows 7pro pre loaded. After a couple days of operating the system and after updating the windows OS and restarting the system my laptop never got on completely. After the initial Logo of Think
Pad and the logo with starting windows the window would just go blank and would not go further. Only after forcefully restarting the system 2 -3 times would it enter and operate normally. Similarly when I would want to switch the system off the desktop icons
would disappear but the system as such would remain on with the cursor.
I contacted Lenovo Customer support and they advised me to take a back up and re install the OS which I did.
After the system was re installed the system would operated normally until I did the windows up date. Once I did a couple of updates the same problem keeps persisting. On contacting Lenovo customer care they said that its now up to Microsoft to Check what
the problem is. I called your toll free no where they told me to put in a request in this forum.
Its my humble and urgent request to whom so ever is concerned with this to help me trouble shoot this problem since it has become a pain in the wrong place for me. Its very embarrassing to take my laptop for presentations and keep restarting my laptop just
to get started.
Please revert asap.
Thanks

Hello Murtuza S,
Please correct me if I have misunderstanding:
1. After restarting 2-3 times, the windows can boot normally. Switching off the system and the desktop icons disappear and the cursor remain.
2. After reinstalling the computer, everything is normally. After the Windows updates, the issue comes back.
3. Instead of asking for password, it gave the error about ‘Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library’. So can you log in with the error message?
How do you reinstall the Windows 7? What image do you use?
Please check if the system have third-party pre-installed softeware.
Please take the following steps for troubleshooter.
1. Update the Microsoft Virtual C++ Runtime Library.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=5555
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=14632
2. Open the event viewer and check if there are any related error log. For more information about the event log, please refer to the following article.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-event-viewer#1TC=windows-7

  • Windows 7 takes 15 mins to log in and log off - School Enviroment

    Hi All,
We're getting a very weird issue at present, our environment consists of 20
students with Windows 7 SP1. They login with roaming profiles. We've noticed
that when they login it takes up to 15 mins and logging off/shutting down takes
about 15 mins also. We have to re-image the PC's to get them working back to
normal however the problem just comes back!
    What we've done so far,
Checked cables - all is ok
Used the Verbrose regedit on start-up to find that we needed to install
this hotfix from Microsoft (KB2537556) (worked for a week but then back to
normal, only for logging in not logging off)
    Tried some GP changes
Local GP change - time waiting for network reduced to 15 secs then to 0 - no
    change
Local GP change to remove all desktop items to see if that was causing
    changes - no change
Only affects Student PC's which are used by all students
Any help would be great :)
    MR

    Hi,
First please check to see how big the student’s profiles are, what is the result if we compare it with teacher’s?
You can also enable boot logging in process monitor to find the cause of the slow logon, please refer to this blog.
The Case of the Veeerrry Slow Logons
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2012/07/02/3506849.aspx
And check whether you have Enabled “Delete cached copies of roaming profiles” policy setting, enable this policy will delay logoff as some yet-to-be-identified component in the OS is triggering Windows desktop search to cache settings on behalf of each locally
    cached profile at logoff.

  • Problem logging off windows 7 on AD domain - Sound Card issue New model iMac 2011

I am looking for help for a strange problem we have on our new 21.5inch iMac computers (mid-2011 model), Our whole IT team have worked for a week to find solutions and we have exhausted all of our ideas. Please note we have an identical setup on our old mid-2010 model iMacs, which experience NONE of the same problems, windows logon and log offs are quick and painless. We have conducted side by side identical tests, so this forces us to assume it is a hardware/driver issue.
Basically our iMacs have BootCamp installed with Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 is our default operating system. We have joined these computers to our Active Directory Domain and the users are all roaming with redirected folders.
The issue is the following: When a domain user logs off, it can take up to 25 minutes for the User Profile Session to finally log off and return to the normal Ctrl-Alt-Del menu, the next user who logs on usually is just left hanging and with no ability to logon. After a hard-restart the system logs on normally, but then can experience same problems at logoff.
We see the issue when the user watches lots of Flash Player videos on a browser such as Firefox and Chrome, although we've seen the same problem when other applications are used on the computer such as Windows Live Movie Maker.
So far we have found only one solution: If we disable the Cirrus Logic Audio Driver CS4206A (AB 9), and High Definition Audio Driver from the Sound, Video and Game Controllers within Device Manager and restart the computer, the system behaves normally, logon and log off times are a few seconds. But naturally we have no sound which is unacceptable.
We have tried everything we can think of including: Fresh installs of both OS, full updates of OS's, Firmware and Software, Manually updating sound drivers, changing users and AD Domains and attempts to force stop all services on logout etc.
We would appreciate any and all help to get to the bottom of this, including advice on what to try next.

Just wanted to feedback on this and say our solution was the following:
Download and installed Universal Driver Pack within Win 7 , which included a AMD High Definition Audio Driver and replaced the High Definition Audio Driver Installed.
I have also informed Apple and Microsoft of this issue, hopefully someone will take some notice and update the driver.

Have you updated to the latest level of Keynote on your iPad? Keynote 2.0.1 (1075)  - Check Settings > Keynote
If so, there isn't much that you can do other than report this bug to Apple http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
You could try restarting or resetting your iPad.
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • Severe problem while starting Lenovo 3000 N200

    Dear friends & experts,
I am using Lenovo 3000N200 0769BDG laptop. I have following problems while starting the system.
Recently my system was hacked against which I installed an Anti-Malware software. It showed that the system was free from any Malware.(But believe me, it is true that the system was hacked.). But each time on starting the system, a  black and white window  is being displayed which contains the following message:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows didnot start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration  to revert to the most recent settings that worked.
If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed , or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.
    Safe  Mode
    Safe Mode with Networking
    Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
    Start Windows Normally
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
    Seconds until Windows starts:30.....1
After 30 seconds, the Windows logo is displayed immediately followed by a Blue screen which lasts for 1 second and the system restarts.  I tried all the options listed above-- from Safe Mode to Start Windows Normally but the same problem recurrs. And the system doesn't shutdown until I press the power button.
I have a licensed version of Windows Xp SP3 as OS. I tried to repair the system using WinXP CD but I found the following message:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.
Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.
A point to be noted is that earlier, I removed the Rescue & Recovery from my system  thinking that it might not be of much use and now, I lament for it.
When I press F3 the same window appeared and the same problem recurred.
I tried to access the files in my hard disk using Ubuntu CD and it was successful. I used Lenovo hardware quick test to check for any hardware faults, and my system passed all the tests.
I request you to help me in solving this problem so that I can continue my studies peacefully.
    Thanking you,
    With regards,
    T.I. Kiran

First off, being "hacked" and having viruses/malware are two different things. Someone hacking your computer doesn't really mean you have a virus/malware, it means an actual person gained access to your computer remotely and did something to it.
More than likely you got a virus that corrupt your Windows System directory and/or registry. Anti-malware software won't necescarily detect all viruses, especially executable that run commands to simply delete files.
The blue screen you're seeing is what us technicians call the BSOD (blue screen of death), it's an indication that there is a direct corruption with the core files that Windows requires to function properly.
As an IT Technician, if this were one of my laptops or one of my end-users, I would simply reload it with a fresh copy of Windows XP. There's a possiblity that all data you had on the laptop is gone because if the Windows core files are corrupt/missing, then that could very well mean your system was wiped completely but the boot table is in tact, hence the fact that you even have the option to boot Windows XP.
One other option I would suggest is try to reinstall Windows XP. Sometimes if you have the right copy of the install, it will let you reinstall the Windows XP core files, leaving your programs, files and directories in tact.
    Good luck.

  • Problem in Starting tomcat in new window

I Have configured tomcat set environment and done all the stuff but while starting tomcat
Another DOS window breifly opens and closes, (I can
    not read the message in
that window), and the above window remains open.
I do not get a new window or anything after this. I
    tried opening my browser
and typing http://localhost:8080/ in the address
    line, but I get the
"Cannot find server or DNS Error" from the browser.
    I tried changing the
port to 80 instead of 8080, but that doesn't work
    either.
I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone can help get me
    past this issue.

I would suggest deleting all the log files under tomcat\logs and then try starting it up. When it fails go to the logs folder and look through all the files that were created and see if there is any error message. it should tell you why its not starting properly.

  • My MacBook Pro starts and shuts off after loading for sometime

My MacBook Pro starts and shuts off after loading for sometime

Try starting in Safe mode by holding down the Shift key while booting. Safe mode takes a while to load the OS. After that, restart the computer normally.
If that does not work, start up in Recovery by holding down the Command and R keys. In the window that opens, choose Disk Utility at the bottom and verify and repair your disk. Repair permissions while you are there.

  • RMI listener stops whenever the user logs off Windows

    Hi guys...
I have a problem whereby the RMI listener stops whenever the user logs off Windows.
I've gone through the net and the only solution was to add "-Xrs" to the end of the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Adapter" service for the ImagePath statement.
Unfortunately for me, that did not work.
Anybody knows how I can go around fixing this.
    Much appreciated.

    What's the RMI listener?
Do you mean the RMI Registry?
In which case the solution is to add that same flag when you run the registry.

  • X220 logs off windows when I shut down Chrome

    Hi,
When I shut down the chrome browser, my x220 logs off windows. I'm still trying to pin-point the exact required conditions for the problem to happen, but I know it has to be running on the battery (never happens on the AC outlet).
Could this be a windows setting or some kind of configuration somewhere? I tried googling for it but nobody seems to have this issue regardless of the computer used.
    Thanks!
    Dave

    hey gretzteam,
what you're describing is something unheard of. I would recommend checking with the Google forums if they have had any reported incident about this and at the same time; if your Chrome uses any add-ons .. kindly disable them and see if that helps.

Your server certificate expired. You need to update your identity keystore with a new certificate.
The expired certificate was issued by the demo BEA certificate authority (CA). These certs are not adequate for production but if you want to take this approach for your new cert you'll have to use the BEA CertGen utility. Have a look at http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs70/secmanage/ssl.html for more details.
Your other option is to use Java's keytool utility to create a private key. You'd then generate a certificate signing request (CSR) that you'd send to a CA such as Verisign. You might even have a CA in-house. The CA will then send you a signed certificate that you load in your keystore. Assuming you've configured WebLogic to use this keystore you should be back in business with SSL.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
To a large extent, the difficultly can be related to the type of document you are trying to print -- and the application you are using to print that document.
PDF documents can be tricky -- sometimes, especially if you are trying to print these from the Internet, PDF files can be stupid-hard to print because the format is messed up.
You can take a look at the following - no garantees -- it might help you find something that will help nail down what is going wrong or maybe help you figure out a way to get what you need.  For example, if all else fails, you can perhaps take a Snip of the document on the screen, save the Image, and print that.  It is a sorry excuse for a workaround - but at least you end up with something on paper.

  • Start and Stop a Windows Service From Java

Is there any way to start and stop a Windows service from Java? The only post I found on it (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=647509) had a link to one of the many aps that allow Java programs to be services, which is not what I am interested in doing.
I am attempting to get data from performance counters from the Windows Performance Monitor into a Java ap without using JNI. I can get the data from C++ or a .net language pretty easily and was going to create a service that would listen for socket requests and feed back the data. However, I'd like to start and stop that service when my java code starts and stops. Is this possible? Would it make more sense to just use a .exe and Runtime.exec()?

    If it's only to start or stop a service then you could use the net command without any need for JNI.import java.io.*;
    public class MsWinSvc {
        static final String CMD_START = "cmd /c net start \"";
        static final String CMD_STOP = "cmd /c net stop \"";

grc.com has a program (very small) that does it. The program is called "wizmo" and is written in Assembly.
If you are using Windows NT/2000/XP you can get a program in MS Windows Resource Kit called "shutdown.exe" but the program does only the shutdown job. You must manually turn the machine off.
