Problem wiht Keynote
After install actualization Quicktime 7.3, when there is a QT Movie inserted in a keynote, don't charge the slide and freeze it.
yikes--I just had the same problem. Never update QT if it already works. I was giving an important keynote presentation with embedded video and nothing worked. The slide prior to the movie hangs, you hear the audio for the movie, but the movie will not play. Exiting Keynote does nothing; I had to play the movies manually outside of keynote. Embarrassing. Thanks, apple...

Have you moved Pages from its installed location? Or just dragged a copy to your current system?

Hello, anyone knows about a problem in Keynote(iWork) that whenever I write with a RTL language, and make "Build" in Inspector, it doesn't not show the whole word or sentence, and sometimes it doesn't show the entire sentence.
Is this problem solvable?

BaligAll iwork apps have major bugs with RTL scripts and are normally not suitable for using them, unless copy/paste from another app like TextEdit works well enough to meet your needs. Sometimes different Effects may give better results than others.

Image problems with keynote dropbox
We are having massive problems with images not appearing correctly in our Keynote when saved via dropbox. Images appear swaped with other images, or at times, completely missing all together. This has completely crippled the work flow at our business and we are at all but a loss other on how we can continue to properly work in Keynote 6. What can be done to remedy this problem?
This is a MASSIVE problem. Keynote autosaves every single small change. With multiple team members on multiple locations it's virtually impossible to know if someone even does 1 tiny change in the presentation, while someone else is doing the same. The autosave makes this almost a certainty to happen.
We had to do multiple reworks this weekend, because of this. It makes working with dropbox and Keynote virtually impossible. I asked around and all Agencies I know, having the same issue.
One change on two locations, even by accident means:
- Broken images
- Broken videos
- Mixed images turning on different locaties
- Mixed videos turning on different locaties
- Keynote versioning broke.
- No dropbox versioning because of the new file format,
Only thing that can save you is a local backup.....OMG!!
It feels like a viral outbreak, and nobody is realising it yet.... -
I'm having some problems wiht Firefox, for example; Youtube isn't loading right, Facebook won't let me send messages, search up people, and this website i made wont load right also. I've re-installed and updated it but still the same problems. Any help?
Because I know enough to be dangerous... I was trying to extend the two outside columns down.... Instead of just using faux columns which I have fixed since I posted the question.
The other link problem is the left sidebar links. When you go to the event photos page I have a repeat of the sidebar links that are on the newsletter page. I used named anchors on the newsletter page to link to the particular article. From the Event Photos page the links look like this:

The problem I am having is that some of these go to the newsletter page and the anchor and some do not (I get an error message saying it can't find the page). To add to the problem is that when we choose say the President's Message, when it goes to the newsletter page and the correct anchor, the newsletter page is missing all the links to the graphics... the photos are missing the graphic for the faux columns is missing. It makes no sense. When I preview the newsletter page from Dreamweaver everything shows up fine.
I do not know if all of this is being caused because I haven't posted this stuff to the site or what. I've tried re-booting both the browser and Dreamweaver, dumping the cache and still the same nonsense.
Got any ideas? -
Problems saving keynote presentation??
anyone having problems getting Keynote to save a file - when I save it (has videoclips in it) it goes into endless spinning wheel mode until I force quit and then I lose data...
thanks!Open the file. At the top.... click File> Save as> and see where you are saving it too. Odds are that is where the problem is. Like said before, change that "save to" to the "desktop".

Problem wiht the parental accounts
i have a problem wiht my parental setting i put a password but now i forgot and im using a guest account and i cant change the settings in the parental controls casue i dont know the password how do i fix it ???
You can use the install DVD to reset the password, repair the disk and repair permissions. If you don't have the install DVD you could try the following.
Print the following and then follow these instructions very carefully - at each stage wait for processes to complete - spaces are important:
1 - shutdown
2 - start in single user mode by holding command (Apple key) and S while it starts
3 - type the following and hit the return key to repair the disk
/sbin/fsck -fy
4 - type the following and hit the return key
/sbin/mount -uw /
5 - type the following and hit the return key
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
5 - type the following and hit the return key
shutdown -h now
6 - start the Mac
7 - The above tricks the Mac into thinking it is starting for the first time. Follow the various processes as normal but DO NOT use a user-name that has been used on the Mac before - if you do it will erase the original account. It will set up a new admin account without removing existing accounts with different names.
8 - Use the new admin account
9 - If necessary enable the root user (see Mac help) to reset passwords on other accounts. -

Hi all
Having some big Font problems using keynote since the last Snow Leopard update some month ago Mac OS X 10.6.7 (10J869) .
I tried to install the Latest Font Update package as well but nothing.....
The problem is the Myriad Pro Bold font (Apple use Myriad Pro almost everywhere).
The other Myriads work just fine.
I have also checked the Font Book and the Font is NOT duplicated.
Have done some 50+ presentation in Keynote all with this Font.

The thing is that I have used that in almost every slide in some 50 presentations, i.e hundreds or perhaps thousends of slides and in keynote you can not change them all et once. On my both iMacs works just fine but I cant install the uptades just in case, and who carry around an iMac for every presentation

taken from my router log file and pasted below this sort of thing happens several times a day and every time i loose connection it reports that its waiting for the line to become free, i take it that just like the last time this happened it measn the line card in the exchange i'm connected to has too many customers for the avilable ports, this in turn is locking my line profile down from 7.5 meg (which it maintained for most of the last 2 years) to below 4meg and due to the constant stream of problems which are either cabinet or exchange based (i tried the quiet line test and theres nothing there) i've had my internal wireing tested and still am having all thease problems which i dont understand, the only thing connected to the test socket is the adsl filter which is in turn connected ot the phone and the router, i tried useing 2 different routers with the same results last time this happened, and now i'm stuck wiht a broken connection which the call center in india are worse than useless at sorting out (i tried them 3 times in the last week, there "best solution" was " unplug your routerfor 20 minutes and then swithc it back on" it achieved the square root of sweet FA and its the answer they came up with all 3 times like its a new script option there trying out.

i'd be interested ot here what a mod has to say on the matter, as i already am pretty sure of whats causing the problem (the exchange having too many lines plugged into the card, which is exactly what happened a year ago for 2 weeks) because the exchange is fitted wiht cards that have *10 extra line slots* than there capable of connecting at the same time (because they were cheaper for bt to bulk buy and install than the ones that line matched the DSLAM's the exchange is fitted with) but hey that shouldnt be causeing me problemsand yet again and no doubt several more times during the night i will get this problem as well as a lot more again tomorrow untill bt stop putting too many lines onto the cards, or upgrade the DSLAM's so there able to cope with the line's (probably not going to happen)

of course i just love the fact this problem is making my internet slower and slower, i cant even use it when my kids are doing homework, becuse the contention ratios are so bad locally at those "peak periods" guess i'm just lucky heh -
Is anyone having problems with keynote after upgrading to Lion?
After upgrading my system to Lion, my keynote presentations are becoming a nightmare. They crash all the time, and are becoming significantly slower, not just due to the autosave but after making just a few movements the beach ball appears and takes forever for me to be able to edit the document again. When I try to put into presentation mode the computer stops, sometimes I even lost the images inside the saved prasentation, and when I tried to recover from the auto saved versions, they were corrupted also. I talked to the apple support here in Brazil and after running all kinds procedures to check and fix the disk and hardware even in the safe mode, it still remained with the same problem. Another suggestion was to reinstall the keynote, and I even bought a new version from the app store even though the old one was updated. Again, nothing changed. Does anyone have the same problem or knows what to do?
Hi Thomas - listen, I want to tell you that we aren't necessarily all in the same boat...what I mean is that this problem almost ruined my business and I spent a long time reading the dozen or so threads in this board, and tried solutions people suggested in each one. I had two separate problems...the first was like yours, and it was indeed solved by the time machine save setting mentioned above. The other was that I couldn't get an object selected with a click of the mouse every tenth time or so...I had to click onto a different slide and then come back to mine. I started turning off every single piece of hardware and software one by one, in search of a conflict. It turns out that my Apple Magic Mouse was the problem. I switched it to a plain MS wireless mouse and problem solved. *****, but it let's me continue. My point is that too many people are using Keynote just fine for any of us to throw in the towel and say it's universally and irreversibly broken. There are different bugs in play, but you have to go on the assumption that there's a way out if you can spot what's not quite right. Sorry I don't have your specific solution, but this mindset is what saved me from jumping ship to PPT.

Problem opening Keynote 08 created PPT in Windows Office 2007
After creating my presentation in iWork08 Keynote I save it first in its native format, and then in PPT. When I try to open the PPT in Office 2007 on a WIndows machine, all I get is an empty Window. If I open it in Office 2003, no problems. If I then save it in Office XP/2003 format, Office 2007 can then read it without issues. Has anyone else seen this behaviour, and if you have, have you been able to resolve it at all?
I've had the exact same problem running Vista and Office 2007 except I don't have the luxury of having another computer with Office 2003. Does anyone know of a fix? This totally makes buying windows useless as a way to check ppts that we export from Keynote. Can apple fix this?

Major problems using Keynote 09 with Keynote 08 files
Keynote 09 seems to have been let out into the wild a bit too early. I have encountered several major problems when using it on older KN08 files. From the Scroll bar in outline view, to almost every movie or sound file being corrupted and requiring a "reinsert," to an annoyingly common problem with images losing their formatting. It seems that the new file format in KN09 does not play well with KN08 (this was not the case with any of the previous version upgrades).
I have contacted Apple and shared these problems with them. I have removed KN09 from all my machines and have reverted back to KN08. Your presentations sound like they are much more involved and memory intensive than mine. I only have a couple with movies/sound and those are quite short. So far (knock on wood) I've not had any of your problems. However, as a matter of course I always create a backup file before starting to edit an old important file with a new program. Technical Flash problem in Keynote

I have a question concerning the development of Flash files to use in Keynote.
Whenever I use a flash movie that has another flash movie embedded in it the following occurs: the two movies play together at first, but revisiting the slide causes the top level movie to play, but not the embedded movie. Thus, if I use the Presenter display the movie plays correctly in it, but not when that slide is moved onto the main screen (i.e. the second time the movie is called on).
I'm using he embedded movies to mirror several actions, so flattening everything would take too long to be considered an option. I expect it will involve modifying the Flash files though. Has anyone else found a solution to this or something similar?
I'm using Keynote 3, and files are Flash 4 or 5 files. (5 it think. But it's a problem for either.)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!I remember trying to take advantage of this at one point. I figured it the movie WAS essentially being "remembered" as playing them maybe I could use a music track loaded into an .swf to play for the entire presentation. Didn't quite work out that way, though.
I think the problem is with the way QuickTime handles those movies... it doesn't like the independent time track and doesn't know what to do with it. It would be cool if something like this could be done with Quartz Composer, but I don't know enough about it to make anything that complex. -
Projection problems with KEYNOTE
I am an orthodontist and do many lectures showing pictures of faces and teeth.
I moved to Mac 2 years ago and I love Keynote BUT when I project the pictures the quality is significantly inferior to the identical slide projected through the same projector with the same cable using powerpoint.
The quality is also nowhere near the quality seen on my computer.
Do I need to buy a Belkin HDMI to DVI cable - I would love to do this if it will help?
Do I need to buy a Dell 5100MP projector with HDMI input - again happy so to do...
I just want to maximise the quality of the output, irrespective of cost...
Please helpNot that your problem is related to doing dental presentations, but there are at least 2 people who specialize in helping presenters of dental information: James Cowherd in Las Vegas and Greg Lutke in Dallas. Greg may not have as much knowledge about Keynote as James, but both are great guys. Contact info should be easily accessible through google.
