Problem with 2 iPods one computer

My grandson is using my computer for his iPod. I just got my own iPod and followed the instructions on how to use multiple iPods with one computer using Method 3. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495 I was able to put some of music on my iPod but then my grandson wasn't able to find his own library. Obviously I did something wrong so we ended up deleting my library and I need to start over. Does anyone have any advice on how I can prevent this problem from happening again?

Regarding joesilva's problem with the one computer that can't get on the internet.

this is joe, i left a lot of info off on the first discussion, sorry. there is nothing wrong with my airport, it just can't logon using the verizon jet pack.
i was having so much trouble with it that i suspected it was something that verizon had done by changing the connection requirements.
i even took the ibook to it one of there branchs and they tried to make work on there computers to no avail.
i previously had an another verizon modem, it is a MIFI12200 and when i turn it on iget a full signal on the power icon of airport.
the the ibook can't connect to aol because it has to be activated which i don't need. i only did this to test the airport extreme card.
how ever, with the mifi12200 i also get a VZ manager which allows me to see the signal level of both verizon modems.
there are 2 buttons,: NETWORKS & STATISTICS.
the network button shows both modemsas selections
the statistic button shows both modems and they both have a signal quality of 100.
the Verizon modem MIFI shows encriptrion as WPA Personal Channel 11 and signal quality as 100
the verizon jet pack modem shows encryption as unknown Channel 1 signal quality as 100
When i go to keychain to view the passwords, the MIFI asks for password and it allows me to open file to view.
for the jet pack it will not let me open file, say's iv'e entered a wrong password.
when i try diagnostics, im unable to chose WPA2 Personel. for airport informatiom it only shows 3 choices,( WEP Password) (WEP40/128-bit hex) (WEP40/128-bit asc11. very confusuing.
iv'e also copied the airport data ,TCP etc. nothing worked. thanks for the previous help.

I suggest you debug the code in browser to see which line of code will throw this error, then you can reorganize the logic of the code to avoid using the uninitialized object.

Problems with ipod connection.
I have problems to connect my ipod to computer windows 7.
When I connect I get the following error:
"We encountered an ipod, but could not be identified correctly. Disconnect and reconnect the ipod and try again."
And it recognizes the ipod when trying to go play music or videos make me the following error:
"Error while trying to copy on disk. The device is not connected."
I've uninstalled all apple applications and re-installing, as I formatted the ipod and continues to set the same error.
What else can I do?

Hi, I bought an ipod touch in Colombia a couple of months ago but lost the invoice, I tried using it but everytime I connect the iPod to the computer, it restarts over and over again, I've tried all the recommendations show in the Apple support site, but no method has proved the question is, I can take this ipod to a Mac store in the U.S. for repair or change.
I live in Venezuela, there is some Apple store in my country where I can take it.

You should be able to go to the USA for warrantee service. If you purchased at an Apple store you should be able to go to your account in iTunes and see the purchase. I am confused by your statement:

If you go to the Venezuela apple website you can see if/where there are Apple stores.

Two iPods - One computer

How do I get two different iTunes accounts with only one computer. There is my mentally challenged son's iPod and then I have one too. Obviously I don't want the same songs on my iPod that he has on his. How do I open two different iTunes accounts or pages. So far tonight I think I have completely erased all his songs because I couldn't get a different iTunes set up. HELP. I'm a somewhat computer-challenged grandmother but have to manage my son's acct for him. Now I want one for me as well only with different music and I don't know how to do it. database (basically from one table), I take data to make report. Each of record
have appropriate fields:

want to realized comparison data from two or more periods of time on one chart
and in one table. For easily explanation I will describe problem on two
periods.For instance, user want to display and compare
on chart date (type monthly -sum data of each month) from 2007.02 u2013 2007.05
with date from 2006.03 u2013 2006.06. So we compare month 2007.02 with 2006.03;
2007.03 with 2006.04; 2007.04 with 2006.05; 2007.05 with 2006.06
On char I would like to display bars with comparison
of months.
Problem is that I donu2019t know how to write
something similar. I can use one period without any problems, but two and mores
I canu2019t realized.
Detail description:
I passed
two parameters two report:
{?from}, {?to} u2013for first period
{?offset}, it means {?from}+{?offset},
{?to}+{?offset} - for second period
On axis Y I have Sum(intDate);On
X (year + month). But on each value x( example 20007.02) I need to have
two values (bars). Value for standard period and offset.
For example for x=2007.02, I need
two bars one equal 2007.02 and second with offset u2013 2006.03
Movement to next value (bar) is
persuade by fields {data.rok}&{data.month} first or second period. This is
combination of two elements year&month defined under Formula. Problem
persist in that both period has different year.month and here problem starts once
again. I donu2019t know how to solve it. I have found out one solution but it
limits user only for two periods (I want to compare more).
My idea for compare only two
periods:
I make one query in CR for one
period and second query for second period.
Firs query:

Second query

      {month + offset} % 13
Then in CR I connect two periods and
make u201Ctableu201D (results of queries) with JOIN on fields year and month.
This solution is not functional,
because I need to make reports for days and hours as well. In this solution I
canu2019t use (%31), because not all months has 31 days.
I use CR in WEB app made in Visual
Studio 2005. Maybe from aspx we can manipulate with date to get exact solution,
and solve problem with SELECT.

I have had similar problem before.
Because I had too many data, the legend would not display all the data. Also the chart would not display all the data. But I was able to find a work around.
In your case, Right click on the Legend text and click on Format Legend Entry.
Change the font of the legend to 4 (which is the minimum). This may work.
If you are also having problem with data labels, you could change the font size of the data labels.

If Mende 1's suggestion doesn't solve it you might find the following useful:
I would first reset the SMC:
Shut down and unplug the Mac.
Keep the Mac unplugged for at least fifteen seconds.
Plug the Mac back in and do not turn it back on for at least five seconds.
Press the power button to turn the Mac back on.
Then I would reset the PRAM by rebooting the iMac while simultaneously holding the Command-Option-P-R keys until the machine restarts a second time.

Two iPods One Computer with two hard drives

HELP! HELP! HELP!
I have a 20GB iPod set up on my computer using the computer's hard drive which is only 40GB.
I have just purchased a 60GB Video iPod and want to set it up with the program, a second iTunds and it's playlists on an 80GB external hard drive.
I copied the iPod program and iTunes over to the portable drive, but can't get my new iPod to be recognized. And, the iTunes on both locations shows my playlists for my original iPod. Each time I plug in the new iPod, it says there is no iPod connected. When I plug in my old iPod, it works fine.
I am not real good at setting things up and need as much detail as possible for getting this to work.
The goal is that I can choose which iPod to access and set up each play list separately. I want to have my music on my old iPod and use the new one for pictures, videos, etc.

2 ipods one computer

i have one computer with two ipods to plug into it...only my ipod will plug in...the other persons ipod wont work and cannot creat a separate playlist from mine and cannot get music to download onto it....i have different music i want on mine and we cant seem to get two separate ipod tune musics for the two separate accounts.....we have tried everything we know how to do and tried to load both ipods on the computer with no luck. how might i go about being able to have 2 ipod accounts on one computer. we have different log-on names for the actual computer and tried to do it seperately that way but it didnt work. if someone could please help me figure this problem out it would be greatly appriciated!

Two ipods - one computer - Need help

I have had an ipod for a few months and my girlfriend just got one for Christmas. Neither have been registered. Now that she is trying to put songs on her ipod it is uploading all of the songs from mine onto hers. I don't know how to make it so that she has her own library without deleting all of my songs. Can two ipods be used on one computer? What should we do so that we can have two different libraries that won't interfere with the other? Is there a way to login to different itunes accounts on one computer instead of the same account opening through default when accessing itunes/library?

I have a Nano 2nd gen and recently purchased a 1GB shuffle. Using the link above I tried "method 3" to create a separate library. My problem is that when I clicked the advance button there was no general tab. Do I a newer version of itunes or something?

With only one computer and email address is it possible to create two separate itune accounts.

my husband and I each have Iphones but only one itunes account - this is causing problems in playing words with friends, etc. as it appears we need separate accounts. also when we sync our phones we both get all the same data and we really need separate data. how can we fix this

Sync problems with ipod color

Hi I'm having problems copying music onto my ipod. I am running iTunes 5 with the latest iPod software (1.2 from ipod updater 2005-09-23) on a windows XP platform with Service pack 2. My iPod is connected to my computer through USB 2.0.
When I plug my ipod to my computer, everything works fine, it gets recognized, I see the "do not disconnect" icon on the ipod and it starts syncing but the problem is, way before it finishes tranfering the songs, my ipod comes back to the main menu. I can read in iTunes that the transfer is complete and that it's ok to disconnect my ipod, even though it was NOT complete!
This really bugs me because I can't put all my songs onto my ipod and have to disconnect/reconnect it all the time to actually put my songs in it. What can I do to keep the transfer "alive" ?? please someone help me.

I have the same type of problem with my iPod 20GB color running XP Home SP2. This happens when I import a large number of songs (over 100 or so) from my CD's in iTunes at one time. It will disconnect and then restart the transfer over again several times. I figured out that when your iPod is actually connected and doing the transfer, if you right click on the iPod (example: Joe Smiths iPod) in the iTunes left side menu, and click on "update" every 40 or 50 songs or so it will transfer everything without disconnecting. I discovered this yesterday while transferring about 270 songs to my iPod after it tried to automatically do it about three times. I don't know if this is the "real" fix for this but it worked for me. The problem doesn't appear to happen with a couple of CD's worth of songs.

Connection problem with iPod Shuffle 4th Gen.

Hello, I have problem with my iPod Shuffle 4th gen. One day i tried as always to turn it on and listen music but i heard only short "info" sound and saw short green diode impulse and nothing else. My computer (windows 7) also can't find it, after plugging it on, ipod's red diode turns on for 5 sec. Any suggestions?

Yes ... pay attention to how and where you clip the shuffle. Moisture can enter the controls if in contact with damp surface, OR can enter through the earphone jack along the earphone wire... positioning the shuffle such that the earphone socket is down will prevent the latter.
I recently discovered that the mode switch on my shuffle is very sensitive and will change from play-in-order to shuffle with a tiny positional movement. Interestingly, that resulted in behavior that, on the surface looked like the shuffle just quit! I normally listen to to audiobooks and other spoken material which are set to NOT be shffled... however , I forgot to set ONE 1/2 hour radio show to not shuffle. When I accidentally nudged the mode switch, the shuffle switched to playing that show. Trying to get bact to the audiobook I had been playing by multiple << presses confused the issue totally since the shuffle now displayed absolutely no indication of the button presses...it behaved as if it were dead! Turning it off and on didn't help either. Since it was dark, I couldn't see that the mode switch was slightly out of its normal play-in-order position, either. I put the shuffle away and soldiered on listening to a different audiobook on my nano.
