Hello!
There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader in my laptop.
How to fix error 523:523
Will you please help me.
Thanks

Please disable the Protected mode in Reader X and see if that works.
Launch Reader - > Preferences -> General -> Uncheck the option, Enable Protected Mode at startup.
Click on OK button.
Relauch the Reader and check.

We are getting the following error "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)" and a gray screen appears (Image not viewable) with multiple users. We are using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.05) and (11.0.06). The current workaround is to log off the website and log back in. Once the user logs back in, the pdf will appear. However it occurs anywhere from 2-8 times in a day. Anyone else having this issue or know of another workaround? Any suggestion with how to fix? Please help!!

    Hi Valerie,
Please let me know the version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader & operating system installed on your computer?
    Also, try this:-
    Launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
From the menu, choose Edit -> preferences -> General
Uncheck the option for "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
Restart the Adobe Reader and web browser.

  • Problem with favourite fonts

i recently bought the new aluminium mac book pro with leopard installed and i migrated all my datas/docs/settings/preferences from my previous mac book tiger.
Today i was working on textedit and invoked the font panel (command + T) and clicked on my favourite fonts, that were coming from the migration of the previous machine, but that caused textedit to crash. I also tried few times with mail.app but with same result.
I tried solving the problem with Font Finagler but with no success.
I here attach the crash log.
I actually also looked in forums for a way to delete my old favourite fonts (from the system/user library as from the font panel it crashes...), but couldn't retrieve any useful infos...
    Thanks bynow, Regards

    hi,
did you import them into the cast?
    What exactly is the problem?

  • How do I investigate and solve Pages, Notes, Mail intermittent 'offline' and failure to synchronise problems with Mountain Lion after waking from Sleep

When I wake up my iMac after sleep, i get a variety of intermittent - but mostly FREQUENT and FRUSTRATING problems including:
Notes app is offline - as stated by a message in the window bar. If I close Notes and reopen, the app appears to be online. However, Notes does NOT update with items I know are on my iPad or in the web iCloud. Furthermore, if I create a new note on my iMac, the new Note does not upload to iCloud. This is IRRITATING!
Pages and Numbers - similar situation. I can edit a Pages or Numbers document on my iMac (stored on the iCloud). But then the Pages doc doesn't ALWAYS get uploaded to the iCloud. Then I end up with conflicted versions of the file in the cloud, my iPad, and the two iMacs I use. Then I get CONFUSED and FRUSTRATED. For example, consider these steps:
Open Pages on my iMac, edit an iCloud file, then save and close file
Pages/File/Open/iCloud - I note in the iCloud file list the edited file has a little 'cloud' icon against its name. From experience this warns me of TROUBLE - namely that the file has NOT yet been uploaded to the iCloud. However, I just checked the new Beta iCloud on the web, and to my surprise, the file edited on my iMac is apparently in the icloud. But now, I edit the iCloud version, and the changes DO NOT appear on my iMac pages version. OK I realise its in Beta version...
So now, I open my iPad, open Pages. I note the iCloud version of my edited document updates to my iPad, as indicated by a blue download line. 'It just works' as Steve Jobs claimed at Apple Developers Conference a couple of years back. Again, the edited version form my iPad is now 'up in the cloud' correctly....
Oh - and now mysteriously the Pages version on my Imac has become synchronised with my iPad/iCloud version! Luck ... but that's about all I can say. It doesn't always happen. I'm LUCKY today.
Meanwhile, the Note I created on my iMac (Item 1 above) has still not yet appeared on my iPad or iCloud... even though I HOPE it would be given that Pages on my iMac, iPad and iCloud are chatting nicely now! The Note says it's in my iCloud - but  NOT. Similarly, notes updated or added on my iPad, which appear in iCloud, are NOT on my iMac.
Mail - last but NOT LEAST! and MOST INFURIATING!!! My Gmail, Vodafone NZ and Orcon accounts (in Mail) are all active and receiving after the night's sleep. However, my iCloud mail account has the dreaded offline.
The message on Mail is "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “ICloud - [email protected]” or try again. The server returned the error: The server “p03-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993." Despite the message, mail was received this morning at 8:59 am ... some time before I woke-up my computer (a late start this morning).
If I sent an email FROM my .me iCloud account TO my Vodafone account, the message whooshes away, it's in my SENT box. But it doesn't get delivered to my Vodafone account on my iMac Mail, or anywhere else, Despite the message being listed in my 'Sent' mailbox!!!
In contrast, a message sent from my Gmail account to my Vodafone account (in Mail) gets sent and received almost instantly on  my iMac and iPad.
All of the above mishaps are extremely frustrating, as I rush off from working on my iMac at home, get to my iMac at work and find documents I have been updating on my home iMac not available correctly on my work iMac ... or even my iPad. I expect these things from Apple to 'just work'. Furthermore, emails I THINK I have sent (as indicated by them appearing in the Sent folder on my home iMac) ... have not actually been despatched.
Frankly, I can no longer rely or recommend the Apple iCloud stuff, so I am converting more and more to relying on DropBox and Google.
These problems only became apparent since I updated to one of the Mountain Lion versions... I can't say when.
Oh - if I shutdown and restart the computer my Mail works OK. Guess what, I don't want to do that each time I want to use Mail!
    Technicals:
My iMac is connected by Ethernet cable to my Apple TimeCapsule. The TimeCapsule is connected by Ethernet cable to my Orcon Genius Modem.
Obviously, my internet connection is A-OK, as I am able to use Firefox to make this posting!
    Mountain Lion 10.8.4
iMac 27 inch, mid 2010, Intel Core i5 16 Gb

I've returned to my sleeping iMac after a few days away. Tis time, ALL MAIL accoiunts are offline. I will follow you next set of instructions. In the meantime, here is the DETAIL from MAIL CONNECTION DOCTOR:

  • Phonebook problem with Curve

    Hi,
I installed Whatsapp on my curve and sometime later started to face problems with my mobile. Many times I would receive "App Error 523" message and the set would reboot itself.
I had taken a back up of my system before my phone crashed and ever since I find multiple entries of one particular contact in my phonebook. Rest of the entries have vanished from the phonebook altogether.
Now everytime I save any contact in the phonebook, and there is an "App Error 523", every freshly saved entry of the phonebook is erased and I am only left with handful of contacts.
    Can anybody help?
    Regards
    Rajat

    __END_NAMESPACE_C99
When I comment this line out, that particular error does not show up but still the other errors above still show up.
From the testing I did, it appears to have these problems for most of the C++ programs I have written, especially the ones that involve object oriented programming. All programs that I wrote do not have these problems with g++ or Sun CC for Solaris. It does however work fine only for small fraction of the programs I have written. I dont quite understand why it works in some cases and others it doesnt, but I know for sure, that it should be working for all cases when Sun CC from Sun Studio 10 on Solaris 10 for X86 has no problems compiling the same programs.

I tried workaround number 2 from the 3 choices that were listed by horsh. That fixes the mathcalls.h problem but still I have the following errors.

Can someone please respond? There is more to the problem. Perhaps
there are more glibc headers that have problems. In addition, if Sun wants to port the Sun Studio Compilers for linux to be stable on all linux distributions I suggest using VM ware and installing several linux distrobutions as virtual machines and testing this software on each virtual machine to see the problems that occur on each distribution. That way you might be able to uncover more problems to find a solution that will work best for portability on all linux distributions.

  • Need Resolution to Adobe Reader Error 523:523 without turning off Protected Mode

    Dear  Friends,,
Please go through the below link.
    FYI :
I am using AcroPDF.DLL ActiveX as an OLE object to view PDF files in my application.
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/6609626#6609626
When I am trying view Statements(PDF) in my application with Adobe Reader 10/11 versions , for few statements it triggers " There is problem with Acrobat / reader. If it is  running, Please exit and try again(523:523)". In few forums it has been stated that by turning off the protected mode at start up " Edit-->preferences-->general-->Enable protected mode at start up" resolves this issue. But the client doesnt want to turn off " Protected mode"due to security reason. Can any one help me with this?
    FYKI :
I have got reply from Adobe forums ..
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/6578512#6578512
The purpose of re- posting the same query is we need  alternate solution other than Turning OFF Ënable protected Mode at start up.
My client doesn't want to turn it off due to security reasons.
Please advice me in this regard. Thanks a lot.

    Hi Shakti,
Please find the details which you have asked me for.
    1) I am the user  of those encrypted files.
    2) Windows 7 / Windows 8.1.
    3) I am not opening the PDFs in Browser instead I am opening through the application in which Adobe Reader is linked to it to view the PDF files.
I have also updated to Adobe Reader 11.0.08. Still the problem persists.

"Protected Mode" has been causing countless problems since it was introduced in Reader X.
I recommend disabling Protected Mode several times every day in this forum to overcome crashes, printing problems, and whatnot.
Adobe recommends that Protected Mode should not be disabled, but so far has not come up with any solution for all these problems.  So in my view, disabling Protected Mode is the only way to get Reader working as expected.
P.S. I am working with a number of computers running Windows 7 and XP, and none of them has Protected Mode disabled.  Yet, Adobe Reader XI works without any problems on all of these systems.  I do not know what causes these problems with Protected Mode on some systems.

  • WINDOWS ADOBE X i get Error message 523;523 during download, then grey screen

I try and download a PDF file and during process I get message "There is a problem with Adobe reader. If running, please exit and try again. (523;523)" I shut down computer and restart and still get same message?? Anyone know how I can resolve. Thanks

Could you let me know other details such as the OS, the browser being used to view the PDFs and the version of Adobe Reader installed on your system.
Also, would it be possible for you to share any such PDF link wherein you are seeing this issue.

  • Problems with 10.8.5 update

After 10.8.5 update my late 2012 Imac takes twice as long to boot. After it finally does boot I have no mouse or keyboard input for about 4 minutes. I can't boot into safe mode since I have no keyboard input to enter my password. I can get my mouse and keyboard input back if I use the power button to put the computer to sleep and then wake it. I have removed all third party utilities ( I think ), same problem. I had the same problem  with 10.8.4. HELP!!!

  • Error Code: (523:523) ??

I get the Error Code: (523:523) when I try to open a PDF Document, using Adobe Reader X 10.1.4. I tried uninstalling the Adobe Reader X and then reinstalling the program again, but with the same results. Can anyone help me with this problem??

Are you getting this issue on double clicking the pdf file?
is it reproducible with 11.0 as well? and on which operating system?
can you attach a screenshot of the error in case you get it in 11.0 as well?

  • How do I fix error 523:523?

When trying to open PDF documents online I get Adobe error message 523:523.  Using IE with Adobe X and Windows Vista Home Basic.  How dod I fix this problem?

I just started having the same problem. This is a brand new Dell Precision T7600 Workstation with Windows 7 SP1 x64 16MB of memory, Sata hard drives, etc (this is one of the most stable computers ever manufacturered meeting, complying and exceeding ISV-Certified standards) ...
I manage over 200 PC's with similar configurations. I've never seen this particular problem before. It is happening to my customer using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.2). He only uses on his computer Microsoft Office 2010, AutoCad 2012 and Norton Internet Security. They have 19 other identical computers with identical hardware and software configurations. Only one up till now is presenting the problem.
The message is as stated above:
"There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (523:523)"
Initially I thought it was an IE10 issue (since it started around the time IE10 was released) but as I've investigated on the web over the last couple of weeks it is also happening on other versions of IE and FireFox, other versions of Windows as well as with other versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat. The problem seems to be without a doubt an Adobe issue.
What is throwing me off is that I have 18 other computers of the same model with identical software images as the one above. I've tried re-installing Adobe Reader, protected mode "on-off" solutions suggested, downgrading back to IE9, disabling all non-Microsoft startup items and many other suggested fixes (even went to the extreme of removing Norton Internet Security completely just to be thorough). None have worked. My guess is that I will have to wipe out the computer and do a clean install and hope the error does not reappear.
Also, the problem seems to be intermitent. At times it gives the error and once I click on "Ok" it opens the pdf document as if nothing had happened. At other times, closing IE10 and re-opening it solves the problem. Other times re-booting the computer solves it temporarily and other times, just going to another site with pdf files and opening them there and later returning to the website with the problem document allows us to open it without problems.
This behaviour is very erratic. extremely disruptive and annoying to say the least. I'm sorry chief_charlie37, but this seems definitely to be a bug. I'm hoping that Adobe will "listen" and come up with a solution although my experience with Adobe over the years is that they do not even acknowledge issues (I know for a fact, by personal experience of errors and problems that have been annoying customers for years, error that are so persistent that they continue to annoy them trickling down from version to version and seen Adobe just ignore them.
My only advice, to whoever reads this, is to attempt some of the solutions described on a Google search or in this forum. Otherwise, make your voice be heard and post your complaint everywhere you can. It may be the only way to get Adobe's attention.
