Problem with 8-bit uncompressed quicktime file

I have exported my FCP video using the 8-bit uncompressed setting considering I initially captured the content uncompressed via a Blackmagic Decklink card. The problem is, regardless of the settings I have chosen for the uncompressed export, the quicktime file always has horizontal lines going across it when I watch it.
It almost seems like this could be an interlace issue, but I don't really know why that would be the case. I imported from DigiBeta that had telecined 16mm footage on it, but the footage should be at 29.97 when it is imported. I'm sure I'm an idiot and there's a simple answer to this, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

If the exported movie plays fine in FCP and but not in the QT player, I would assume everything is okay and it's just the QT player. A couple of tests you can try:
1. Make sure the Quicktime player is set to actual size in the view menu.
2. Open up the movie properties in QT player. I have version 7 and can do this by going to the window menu, then show movie properties. If I select the video track and then the visual settings tab, there is a high quality preference checked. If I have it checked, I can see visual lines in the credits of an DV movie I have. if I have it unchecked, the horizontal lines dissapear. There are other settings there that affect the playout of the film, but shouldn't affect your final format.
QuickTime Player is probably showing you the highest quality of image and taking an interlaced video and playing it progressive on your computer monitor.
If you are going back to tape, you'll be using FCP to go back out to tape and shouldn't have those line issues.
If you are compressing for DVD, you shouldn't have those issues.
If you find a more detailed explanation for this, post back so I can know it.

I am having problems playing uncompressed AVI files in the QT 7 player, apparently if the frame size is large (in the example case 688 x 516).
Sometimes I just get "error 108 unknown error" pop up when I try to load the file. Sometimes the file loads but will not play except in short bursts of movement every now and again as it moves along the timeline. Sometimes the file plays, but with one or more broad black lines across the image!
All the problem files play perfectly in QT 6.5.2, but will not play in QT 7, which should surely play them better, not worse!
Can anyone make any suggestion as to what's happening?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled QT 7, which made no difference. I'm sure I don't need any extra codecs, as QT has always played RAW AVIs without anything extra before.

Handle Uncompressed Quicktime Files?

Hey All,
Total newbie, here. So please excuse if this is a dumb question.
I work a lot in commercial production, but obviously, only in the very non-technical end of it. I've been getting a lot of samples of my projects in an AVID-generated uncompressed quicktime format. (The kind where the pixels are round as opposed to square, so if you try to play them in quicktime, the proportion of your screen area gets squished down a bit.)
Here's my question. I know I can bring these into Final Cut Pro and it can translate the pixels so the screen area appears at its proper size. Can Final Cut Express also handle these files?
I tried to figure this out by looking at apple.com/finalcut but couldn't really figure out the answer.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

I'm getting the files from editing houses. They are uncompressed quicktime files. Don't know if there's a more specific description than that. Been trying to transition away from keeping digi-beta copies of everything. The files are coming to me burned on a DVD and then I just copy them straight into my computer.
Don't know what codec is being used. I don't actually have the files on my person at the moment, otherwise I'd check.
Anyway, it sounds more and more like FCE is not the right answer for me. Usually, I have editing places take my uncompressed files and then have them convert them into dv files. Those, I can just bring into iMovie to do what I want. Was trying to avoid having to call in the favor to have the editing places convert them and was hoping to use FCE to do it all myself. But that isn't sounding possible for a lay person like myself.
If there's anything else you think I should know I'd love to hear it. Thanks a lot. You've been really, really helpful.

Problems with multiple idocs in one file ( Inbound file )

We have problems with multiple IDocs in one file.
We are using XIB ( Amtrix ) as Middleware to receive the files.
Curretenly When the file contains one IDoc then there is no problem. IDoc is created and everything is ok.
If file contains two IDocs ( for example two messages ORDERS and DELVERY ) then it is creating two IDocs but both IDocs contains ORDERS plus DELIVERY segements information. That is the problem. Some how SAP unable to differentiate the IDocs in the file.. But it knows that how many idocs are there in the file..because it is creating exact number of idocs.
We are using TRFC port ... Do I need to change it to File port..
When we have more than one idoc do we need set any parameter in the file ...

As of now , Middleware cannot split the file.
Thing is SAP is creating two Idocs with different message types. Problem is First IDoc contains ORDERS message type but also DELIVERY segments as well. Second IDoc with DELIVERY message tyoe but ORDERS segments as well... This is the problem... I think we are missing some field activation in file for EDIDC record.
As far as I know file port supports the number of IDocs in one file.. Hope TRFC port also supports that

Strange problem with linking to external vob-file

I have a strange problem with linking to external vob-file. I
have created a link using BudApi:

This code opens mpg-videos correctly, but nothing happens
when I try to open vob-files with the same code. The strangest
thing is that when I change the default program for vob-files to
WinDVD this code works and the file opens, but when I change the
default program to Nero Showtime this code doesn't do anything
(when I open the file 'manually' from the folder, it opens
correctly on Nero Showtime). My client uses Nero Showtime, so I
really would appreciate any help on this one.

If you open a command prompt, do you get an association
listed like this
example for .txt files:

Exporting uncompressed Quicktime files

I have been asked to create an uncompressed Quicktime HDV file of a short film that I edited in Premiere Pro CS3... Having done some research, it appears that this is not as easy as it at first sounded. I know you can export an uncompressed .AVI file, but I can't seem to find a way to export an uncompressed Quicktime. Is there a codec/plugin avilable that would allow me to do this, or can I export the .AVI and convert it to an uncompressed Quicktime file somehow?
Any help is very, very greatly appreciated.

Export cannot crop selectively, it's all or nothing.
You need to make your edits such that the program monitor shows you what you want to see. If you don't see what you want in the program monitor then it will not magically change when you export.
If you don't want the footage to be "bigger" then don't scale it up. If you want to hide something use other editing techniques like masking or picture-in-picture.

Problem with windows not liking any files named prn

I recently found a problem with windows not liking any files
called prn.html, prn.cfm etc etc. If you try and create a file like
prn.html then it will say "File already exists".
I initially thought it was a Cold Fusion error as I was
getting some bizarre error messages when trying to write prn.html
using cffile.
Does anyone know a work around for it?

Not only "prn" but also for the terms like "AUX", "NUL" you
can't create any directories or files in Windows because these are
reserved terms with Windows which is meant for some device
drivers...

Can't import uncompressed quicktime file into FCE 3.5.1

I've imported other files of this type before and feel a little stymied.
It's an uncompressed quicktime, 507 megabytes, 720 x 486, codecs are Integer (Big Endian), Animation. When I try to import it I keep getting an error message. I've gotten the message before but could figure out the problem - for example, one movie had AAC audio and FCE wouldn't take it. Don't know what the problem is here and it's driving me nuts.
I tried converting it using quicktime pro (with the DV/DVCPRO NTSC) but FCE still ends up reconverting the file again and the resulting file looks fairly crappy as a result.
Anybody know why the file won't import? Or can someone suggest what codec to use with Quicktime Pro to convert the file so FCE what re-compress it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

FCE is a fixed format application. It can handles natively (without rendering)standard def DV, HDV and AVCHD.
The timeline(sequence) format can just be either standard or hight definition one. Not quicktime animation. So the non native material has to be rendered before playing the timeline. The rendered material will have the same resolution (or format) than your timeline, thus the poor quality as you display DV material (an interlaced format designed to be monitored on TV sets).(Quicktime animation format is an uncompressed format).
Converting your non-native material with QT Pro and importing into FCE is the way to go as this process allows editing in native format.
Did you monitor your timeline content on a TV monitor?

Problem with connecting and syncing (quicktime.qts)

I have a problem with connecting and syncing my Iphone to itunes.
iphone alone on PC -> uploading files (fotos) is possible
itunes starts normaly, if iphone is not conected.
if i connect iphone after starting itunes, or if i start itunes after connecting iphone i get an itunes-error with message:

i test different things...
- used another USB-port
- used another PC
- used macbook of my wife instead PC

In this context, that can sometimes indicate trouble with a content file on the phone (or Touch).
Do you have any podcasts stored on the iPhone at the moment? If so, if you delete them from the phone, can you connect to iTunes without the error?

Problem with importation of Uniplot .u3d file to Adobe Acrobat X Pro

Hello everyone,
I am trying to import .u3d files created with Uniplot R2015 to Adobe Acrobat X Pro. My Operation System is Win 7 64 bit. My procedure so far was: Tools -> Multimedia -> 3D. Than I Choose the .u3d file but there is always the same error message:
"An error occured while analyzing 3D-Data" (Translated into english). The graphic window is Grey and there is nothing but the coordinate System.
Has anybody ever tried to Import .u3d files from Uniplot to Adobe Acrobat X Pro or has an idea what might be wrong with the created .u3d files ?

the Problem affects all Uniplot 3d Files. I start with an Excel or .txt file with 3 columns and uniplot creates an engine diagram similar to this one: http://www.uniplot.de/documents/de/_images/Uni_BSP7-2.png
Uniplot can Export this as a .u3d but it can not be opened with Adobe. Then I tried to open the .txt.file with MeshLab. I can see the correct Points (which Uniplot uses to create the engine diagram) but of course they are not connected. If i Export those Points in MeshLab as a .u3d file, Adobe can not work with it.
I do not know how to deal with this Problem. Do you have any suggestions?

Problems with spaces in directory or file names and Word.exe

I'm trying to open a file with Word from my java aplication, and I have a problem with some file/directory names.
I have this

Here is what happens:
if path is something like this: "c:\people\info.doc" , there's no problem, Word opens the document, but if path contains blank spaces somewhere, it doesn't work. For example:
path = "c:\Documents and Settings\info.doc"
path = "c:\Hi everybody\info.doc"
path = "c:\tests\test results.doc"
with the above examples it doesn't work :( Word tries to open "c:\Documents", "c:\Hi" or "c:\tests\test".

No, the exec method runs the Word.weird, it shouldn't, and it wouldn't on my system going by the test I just made, but I'm running linux & not windows, maybe the command line parsing is different for some reason.
The problem is that
Word starts and then Word says that it can't open the
file because the name or the path to the file is not
valid.You still should use the overload that takes a String array.

Can you restore that JSON backup in a new profile?
Did you make sure that it is really a JSON backup and that there is no missing or hidden other file extension?
A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded"
A HTML backup starts with: <!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1>
You can try if you can restore that JSON backup in a new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Problem with opening more then one file in Adobe Acrobat X Pro - nvd3dum.dll

I have Adobe Arobat X Pro version: 10.0.1.434. Everything works great up to now. Last time I done upgrade my system to windows 7 64bit with SP1. When I open pdf file in adobe acrobat everything works great, but when I open second file, I receive this problem that Adobe acrobat stopped working and I receive this error : nvd3dum.dll. I have red somewhere that it will be due to driver to graphic card or DirectX. I upgraded them to a new but nothing, problem still remained.

Problem with old namespace in WSDL file

I have a problem with my WSDL file. My scenario is SOAP to IDOC.
Originally the ESB data types were configured under namespace urn:test1:xxx for development purposes. When it came time to implement and test, we copied the data types from the old name space to a new namespace http://company.com:interface.
After the new objects were created, all the old test objects were deleted, including the old namespace definition. Now when I generate the WSDL file, the top part of the WSDL file looks correct, but toward the bottom, there are references to the old namespace.
Does anyone know why these reference are appearing, and is there any way to correct this without deleting all my objects and rebuilding everything?

Found the problem....the XML namespace in the Message type still contained the old namespace. When this was changed to the new namespace, second target namespace was no longer generated.

QT won't read 10 bits uncompressed HD file

I think i read somewhere that QT on windows does not support 10 bits uncompressed ( only 8 bits ), anyone knows if there a plug-in i can d/l in order for it to work ??
My file is 10 bits uncompressed 1920x1080, it plays fine on a mac. Thanks

That part was fine but I cannot get the drivers to load from my install disk (10.4.8).
The Mac OS X 10.4 disks don't contain Boot Camp drivers. Insert a Mac OS X 10.5 installation disk and get the drivers from it.
