Problem with 845PE Max2 & Saphire 9000Pro

Hello everyone!!!
I have a little problem.
3 days ago I change 845E max m/b to 845PE Max2.
And I have a problem with Saphire 9000Pro.
When I install Intel Chipset Driver I cannot install Ati drivers.
When I install Ati driver, then install Intel Chipset INF , but windows hang on, crashen and something like that.
With 845E Max this problem doesn't exist.
What's going on.
I have problem with m/b or with Saphire 9000Pro.
Please HELP!!!! ;(

Look in the bios PNP settings for "assign IRQ to VGA" and be sure it's enabled.
Did you do a clean OS install when changing boards?

  • Driver\'s problems with 845PE Max2

    Hello to everyone...
    I am a fan of MSI's boards and recently i bought an MSI 845PE max2 m/b.
I have a problem with a device. In Windows Xp Prof wih service pack 1, a device called ''SM BUS Controller" cannot be installed and I can't find any driver that fix this problem. I tried to reinstall windows and to unplug any extra devices (such as usb devices, printers etc) but nothing happens.
Last but not least, when I try to install the INTEL chipset drivers that MSI provides us from the site, the PC reboots at 15% of the installation procedure and windows crash getting a message ''the file pci32.sys is missing or it is corrupt''.
Furthermore i have no complaints about my board. It is stable as a rock and has everything i need...
Thank you, and forgive me about my english... 8)

You need to install the Intel INF driver which is in de MSI download area )

  • Keyboard-WAKE/BOOT-UP with 845PE Max2 (v2.0) ??

Maybe you got this question before, but:
Is it NOT possible to start/boot this motherboard by using the keyboard??
I have not seen any options in the BIOS (flashed to the latest v3.1)... however - there's an option to use the keyboard to wake-up from the S3-state (stand-by)... but that's not really useful for me!
I want to power-on the machine by using the keyboard and/or mouse only!!! (The PSU handles 2A on the 5VSB trail)
I thought this was standard on most motherboards nowadays but I can't really see this on the MSI 845PE Max2...
Have I missed something out?  (Is this a BIOS issue only? The realtime-clock-power-on the system works just fine - so I suppose the keyboard feature could be implemented fairly easy??)
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Tobias Nilsson

Gosh, I've tried it!  S3 state is not an option!!! (but S1 is?)
What I want is simply this (one scenario of many):
    * plug in the power to the psu/computer
    * turn the damn thing on using the keyboard!
(that's because I'm using a fine logitech cordless keyboard and I'm just so cool  :]  I don't want/need to pressing the "power-on" button on the computer case!)
Gosh, I've done this on the MSI (k7n420) and the ASUS motherboards for years...
Well, guess I've to talk to MSI... (wish me luck...)

  • Anoying Problem with 645E Max2

I just got this baby, slapped in a 1,8 ghz p4 processor.
Heres where my problem is, i got a 300W PSU and it does have a P4 power thing.
When i put in my Gf2 mx card - and boot up, it says a really weird non bios sound.
After that the system stalls with a black screen, and i can't do anything. Tried clearing the Cmos, and right now i have no idea what to do.
    Any suggestions would be great.
    -Solmaze

STart with just the minimum : board, CPU, mem, VGA.
Remove all the IDE cables and make sure you don't have any of the brass stand offs that hold the board where they aren't supposed to be.
Cleare the CMOS with the jumper (while the power is disconnected), then try posting again.
If it still fails you have no option but to try other VGA and/or mem and/or PSU untill you either find the cause or determine the board is bad.

  • Msi 845PE max2 bluetooth problem

    i have a msi 845PE max2 BFIR, intel 2,4/533 , 512 DDR 2700 and im running w2k pro.
on the other system i also have w2k pro running.
my problem i have bought an extra msi bluetooth usb key so i could connect wireless to my p4 system.
after installing the software (ver:1.2.2.15) i can do : receive business cards, make a serial port connection do file transfers.
the problem that i have is making a network access connection.
when i try it i get a dail-in screen, i enter admin + password , the bluetooth is then telling me
"bezig met het registreren van deze computer in het netwerk"
(busy with registration of this computer in the network)
after a couple of seconds there is an error.
(busy with checking of the networkprotocolconnection)
"TCP/IP heeft fout 718 gerapporteerd : er is een time-out opgetreden van de verbinding tijdens het wachten op een geldig antwoord van de externe computer"
(TCP/IP has reported error 718 : there has been a time-out for the connection during the waiting on a approved answer of the external computer)
does anybody know how i can fix this ?
    thanks in forward
    Pascal Pielage

    Hi,
You're using the "Network access" service of the desktop box I guess? That gives you access to the Bluetooth LAN adapter being installed with the Widcomm software. If you want to make some connections out you have to configure Internet connection sharing on the desktop box as well - and ofcourse make sure that the two devices are correctly paired with sufficient permissions in the security config. I have been running about the same setup on a slightly older 845E Max2-BLR MB using XP with virtually zero issues...

  • 845PE Max2 RAID with 2 80 GB Harddisk from different Manufacturer

sorry for my bad english first
    i have a 845PE Max2 and i want to create a RAID 1 System with my 2 Harddisks. I have a Western Digital 80 GB (7200, 8MB Cache, UDMA/100) and a Seagate 80 GB (7200, 8MB Cache, SATA/150).
can i create a RAID with these 2 harddisks or do they have to be absolut identical?

I have two drives from different manufactures in a raid configuration and it works ok as long as they are the same size.
However it is not a RAID 1 configuration it is a RAID 0.
    RAID 0 - combines 2 drives as 1. in my case 2 x 30Gb drives became 1 x 58 Gb drive.
RAID 1 - needs 4 drives the same it would combine 2 drives as above with the other 2 doing the same. The second pair of drives would hold a copy of the first pair so if there was any loss of drive integrity (i.e. failure) the second pair may be used to correct the problem.
As far as I know that is the way it works but please do check around the net for the definitions of RAID configurations
    try
    http://www.iomega.com/support/documents/11242.html
for definition of RAID 0 and RAID 1.

  • Problem with restarting w98 on 845PE

    Hi all
    I have a little problem
    with MB MSI 845PE, C2,2GHz, 512MB DDR 400
when i will restarted win98se system freeze
but when will shut off system closed without any problems
    thanks David

Disable USB legacy support in the bios.
I reported this happening on the 845GE board (they are identical except o/b VGA).
It might have been corrected with a bios update since then, didn't check that out.

  • Problem with PT8 NEO Y VGA ATI SAPHIRE 9250SE

problem with PT8 NEO Y VGA ATI SAPHIRE 9250SE

From the VGA test report: http://www.msi.com.tw/html/products/mainboard/testreport_pdf/6799/vga.pdf for the board , i can't find ATI Radeon 9250SE , but it is obvious that MSI only tested their Nvidia cards and no ATI cards. So, you'd better to try Nvidia cards or contact your VGA vendor to ask if there is the latest VGA BIOS to solve your issue.
Anyway, remember to tell us the results .

and i have problem , maybe You can answer me where is the root of this situation.
I connect harddisks to Ata 133 raid controler (IDE 3 and IDE 4) one disc to one IDE port, when i copy files for example 700 mb from one disc to another one , copy process goes very fast, but when i copy the same file from one partition to another partition on the same disc, this process takes me about 5 minutes!!!! where is the problem??? I installed all software for raid, for ata133, intel aplication accelerator, and nothing changed  :( , my buddy have the same mainboard , hard disks connected identical like me , on his computer copy process of the same file takes about 2 minutes.!!!.   Big thanks for any response for my question. Regards. G@@my

I would try this ...  leave your ram at 200...
there is a memory setting .. tha comes set at 8 .. I forgot the name . Doh .. drop it down to 4
then set your FSB to 144 ... see what happens ...
leave the voltage core at defualt. I am doing this with cheap generic 512 ddr 266... .and it works like a charm..
no cold boot issues or glitchy lock ups .
I doubt our boards are much different ...
I have eard Alot of problems with Kingmax =(! ...
Samsung seems to be the best bet !

  • 845PE Max-L problem with pci cards

Got a weird issue with the 845PE Max-L and was wondering if anyone else has come across this. I work in the RMA dept of a nationwide computer wholesaler and recently we've come across atleast 4 of these boards with the same problem. under windows xp it will not detect any pci cards. tried various sticks of ram, video cards, network cards, modems, usb cards, hard drives, pretty much anything we can think of to check for incompatiblities. did the latest bios flash, installed the newest updates in windows xp, but still cant get these boards to detect any pci cards whatsoever. yes we tried different power supplies and yes we tested the pci cards in other systems to make sure none of it was defective, all passed with flying colors. now here's the kicker, under windows 2000 it DID detect the pci cards, however i was unable to successfully load any drivers to any of the devices. We've made a call to our MSI rep to find out if anyone else has run into this or are we just dealing with a bad batch. unfortunatly noone from MSI has contacted us back yet so i decided to try and post here to see if anyone else has come across this odd situation. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Weaksauce;
Two replies two separate motherboards.  In reference to the 865 / 875 motherboards not recognizing PCI cards I think your link has something to offer.   :biggthumbsup:I'm not going to go back and test it but the reason the PCI cards were not recognized may very well be that the old bios did not properly inspire the intel inf utility to install the correct drivers.  The force method you suggest may well overcome that particular problem.  I would still suggest that merely doing the BIOS upgrade first is the more elegant approach.
Regarding the usb problem with MS update, the inf chipset article would appear to have little to offer.  The 845 MB uses the Intel 845 chipset which is ICH4 by the way.  The updated inf utility was installed in as early in the process as possible.

  • Problems with my 645E Max2-LRU solved

    Hi,
Just thought I might share some good news with you.
For the last 6 weeks I have been having probs with my Max2-LRU board.
System would sometimes not boot, would boot half-way into Windows, or freeze after a few seconds in Windows.
After re-installing XP, changing PSU, graphics card, memory, I finally noticed that when I booted without my HSF attached it would work fine.
I bought one of the big Zalman flower HSF units, and it weighs a hell of a lot....
Followed their instructions perfectly, but it seems to have been putting too much pressure on the CPU.
Tried putting something under the heatsink to take some of the weight off the CPU, but that didn't work.
Finally, went out today and bought a new HSF, and installed it.
Works fine first time, and have the system running for 3 hours now, without a problem.
Of course, I still have other issues with the board, like my iWill LVD SCSI card.
I can't make any changes in the BIOS with this card installed, as it just freezes.
Have told MSI support about this, but didn't even get an email from them saying that they had received my email.
Anyway, thought you might like to hear that some problems have very simple solutions, if you keep trying.

Alright, I'll just try to reinstall my PC with Windows 8.1. As I'm quite sure this current installation is having issues. If this doesn't make any difference to my network issues, I'll contact their support.
I hope it's nothing wrong with the network card
    Thanks Svet for your help.

  • MSI 845PE Max2 RAM Problems

I have some problems with putting in the 2nd RAM stick.
    I m running on a
    P4 2,4 GHz
    1x 256MB DDR333 RAM pc2700 (from nanya or whatever)
    BIOS 1.2 AMI
When i put the 2nd RAM stick in, (also 1x256 MB DDR 333 RAM pc2700 but from Twinmos) it boots up but shuts down in 3 seconds, and sometimes it just boots up but the screen stays undetected.
I have tried a Dane-Elec (256 MB DDR 333 RAM pc2700) and the problem kept occuring.
I have tried several slot combinations and the Twinmos ram stick doesnt work ny itself (?...so didnt the Dane Elec stick)
    What could be my problem?
Thanks in advance for the help,
    Ron

If you have a module that won't work by itself, I would (suspect) a bad module. May not be seated all the way?
Another thing with this board.....Slot one supports two banks and slots two and three share two banks.

  • SATA RAID setup problem - 845PE Max2 FISR

    Hi,
I have tried to switch from XP made RAID 1 (striping) to BIOS (SATA) supported one.
    1. Detached 2xIBM 80G disks from IDE1
    2. Attached a ViPower VP-9041 SATA to Ultra ATA (33/66/100/133) converter to each.
    3. Changed the jumper on the slave disk to master.
    4. Attached the disks to the SATA ports.
    5. At boot checked if SATA is enabled in the BIOS - OK. (Not too many or sophisticated options can be found in my bios, see below.)
Originally the a 40GB Maxtor on IDE3 (supported by the Promise 376 SATA chipset as well) used for XP SP2 boot - it remained this way.
At first boot FastTrak BIOS detected IDE3 (as before) and scanned for other IDE drives, but detected only one of the two 80 GB SATA converted disks.
At later boots, neither SATA disks detected, but I got the folowing message from FastTrak BIOS:
Warning- FastTrak does not detect proper interrupts. Please check your PCI IRQ settings, and make sure the PCI slot supports Bus Master operations.
IDE3 disk detected correctly and the system can boot from it.
If I remove ony one of the SATA disks, no warning from BIOS, but the other SATA disk is not detected either.
Any hint? (Changing PCI Bus Master state in the BIOS to either enable or disable does not matter.)
    My BIOS is AMI 3.31a.

Now I got another 845PE-MAX2-FISR from the dealer, and this one works!!
So the conclusion is, the other 845PE-MAX2-FISR coursed the ram error...

    Ofcourse its a legal one!

  • WinXP and MSI 845PE MAX2

    Got the following problem.
    I've just purchased an MSI 845PE MAX2 (MS-6704) with a PIV 2,4ghz 533 processor and 512mb DDR PC2700.
Onboard USB/FIREWIRE/LAN and ATA133raid are enabled. My graphics card is a Matrox G400 which is using IRQ10.
    I have 3 HDD's installed together with 1 DVD-ROM and 1 3,5" diskdrive.
I have WinXP proffesional installed without any servicepack.
When I boot my system, everythings goes fine. I see the XP bootscreen and so. After the bootscreen, the pc normally goes to the sign-in screen. Well not for me.
After the bootscreen my monitor goes black, not standby just black and the system doesn't do anything.
Booting in save mode is no problem.
I have also disabled all the onboard stuff and booted the system with only my graphicscard in it. There is no IRQ that is used twice.
    Can somebody help me?
    thx

    Yeah, strange isn't?!
I've installed the RAID drivers during installation (HIT F6 if you want to install a third party driver)
Finished installation, restarted the pc and it gave this problem.
    So for short:
    Builded a new pc.
    Everything worked.
Installed WinXP on a new HDD (80gb WD)
Made 1 partition of 8gb NTFS, the rest is unallocated.
Installed WinXP without any service packs
    XP installed the drivers for:
USB/FIREWIRE/LAN/RAID/SOUND and also for some PCIcards: SCSIcard without bios, SB Live.
I had also a Pinnacle TVcard placed in the system but XP doesn't have any drivers included for it.
    After finishing installation, rebooted.
    XP wouldn't start.
    Removed all pci cards.
    same problem
    disabled USB/FIREWIRE/LAN/SOUND
    still the same problem.
Maybe a driver problem of a pci card which I removed but still is 'installed' in XP?

  • Immediate boot after shutdown on 845pe max2

Got my brand new PC with a MSI 845PE MAX2 mainboard (MS-6704) in an AOPEN casing. Problem: if i select shutdown in WinXPpro the machine shuts down (even power-led is off). And then immediately it boots/starts again.
What could this be? I already removed all unnecessary cards, network connection, modem, second HDU, unplugged all USB devices. Turned off APM in the BIOS setting. Changed to an older type keyboard and mouse. Still same problem. All lastest drivers installed, lates BIOS (AMI 1.2) installed. All Xp service packs extra patches are installed.
Any suggestions? Switchg from S3 to S1 mode in ACPI standbystate doesnt make any difference. Turning off ACPI is a bad idea, as the machine wont boot XP anymore.
Pressing the on/off button the machine shuts down as expected and doesnt turn itself on anymore. Where can i find more info on the S1, S3 modes etc?

Indeed it was a faulty powersupply. I tried with a Qtec 400W and that one works perfectly. So thank you Assaf for the suggestion. I already tries all i could find in all newsgroups, just this was my last resort. Now to convince my supplier to get me a decent (quiet) powersupply!
