Problem with 970 Gaming Motherboard?

I am fairly certain that this motherboard (970 Gaming) is quite "broken" There are quite a few complain on this forum and i believe they are experiencing the same problem as i am. When i boot up my pc, sometimes it wont display image, so i need to keep resetting. Also, sometimes PC just randomly shuts off, no matter if im under load or not. This MB is quite new so i guess its kind of expected. Do you think it could possibly the BIOS?
CPU: fx8350 stock speed
GPU: XFX r9 280x stock speed
MOBO: MSI 970 Gaming
HDD: 1TB Seagate
SSD: Corsair 128GB LX
PSU: EVGA 850w Bronze

Is the RAM matched kit (i.e. 2x4gb) or single modules (i.e. 2x 1x4gb) ?
Try with minimal setup: single RAM stick, no GPU, only keyboard and mouse connected, only HDD/SSD with OS on it and best if the motherboard is outside of the case.

Anyone know the TDP of this board?
In a comparison it looks practically identical to the 125W G46-970a.  Except the G46 has a sound optical out--the features list says the Gamer board doesn't--and the board pics confirm that.  Board looks to have better software than the G46--possibly better sound output, maybe.

  • Router problems with online gaming

    Hi,
I have problems with online gaming. My router is  Linksys wrt54g2 and modem is ZTE ZXDSL 831AII and with two computers. I can't play any onlines game for example Counter-Strike 1.6 or Counter-Strike: Source. When I'm trying to connect in those games servers when it loads too bars I'm geting error that says: "Connection failed after 4 retries". Also I can't play StrongHold, Combat Arms and Battlefield2. I try to bypassing my router by connecting computer directly to my modem and games works. What I should do? Please help me.

Do you have problems with web browsing or other online applications? If not, the problem may lie with the games themselves. It's possible the games require ports to be forwarded to work correctly. Check the game documentation and see if this is the case.

  • PC turns on but no signal on monitor? 970 Gaming Motherboard

So i just upgraded my pc
Corsair Force LX Series 128GB SSD (new)
    XFX R9 280x
    Seagate 1TB HDD (new)
    MSI 970 Gaming MOBO (new)
    16GB Ram
    Windows 8.1 OS (new)
Rosewill ARC M550 550W PSU (new)
So basically when i turn on my pc, all fans are on and the mobo lights up. But the monitor just stays black! So what i do is just hold the power button to turn it off and try to turn it on again. Now this is the weird part... sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes i need to turn off/on for 3 or 4 times for it to turn on. Sometimes i need to do it just once. Its so inconsistence and strange.
    Example:
One day i was just playing a game and suddenly my monitor turns off. The thing is the fans and all is still working. I thought it was the GPU but the fans on the gpu is still on!
My hunch is on the SSD, which holds the OS. But im not sure, could it be the motherboard? My GPU maybe?

So before all this happen, i have a similar setup with different brand of motherboard and PSU. All i bought is a new brand of psu and mobo and i add an SSD. the thing is, i use to have an antec 550w before and my pc just ran fine, no crashes what so over and no problem on boot. But i dont have an ssd back then.
my ram is set to clock speed 1333
i dont think my pc crash, if it did shouldnt my whole pc turns off including all the fans and all? When i was playing the game, my monitor turns black saying no signal but my pc fans, including GPU's fan is running. I have this problem too on boot. When i try to turn on my pc, the pc it self is running (including GPU's fan) but monitor doesnt recieve signals. I have to turn on/off 3-4 times for it to turn on properly. Sometimes it turns on the first time, and sometimes not, its so insistence and strange
If it is my psu, what wattage should it be? Any suggestion that wouldn't break the bank?
I dont think my PC overheats. I have an aftermarket air cooler on my cpu and i have 4 120mm corsair fans running on my carbide air 540. and if it did crash, shouldnt my whole pc turns off? only the display is not getting signals, all my pc components's fan/light is on.

  • 970 Gaming Motherboard Audio too quiet

ive been missing with this all day. Both the windows 7 drivers and the realtek drivers are too quiet, tested with my speakers (just a one 3.5 plug, with stereo speakers + sub) and my headphones. Every volume setting is maxed out etc etc etc. Its far too quiet for loudness equalization/headphones settings to make it loud enough. i primarily have been using the back port as i always do but ive tested the front. Latest drivers downloaded from MSI website from the page for my mobo. Please tell me this isn't a RMA i have to do i might die....xD
If i run the audio to my USB mic and plug my headphones into there, the audio is fine.
Anyone have any advice to offer?
One of the reasons i bought this was for its superior onboard sound....i haven't had any other problems with it. but if i cant use its audio then its gone.
in case its somehow relevant, specs:
    MSI 970 gaming
    FX-6300 stock clock
    4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 1600 Gskill ares
evga GTX 660 stock clock 2GB
    seasonic 750w PSU
    corsair c70
white label 500GB 7200RPM hard drive

Remove the front panel audio connector from the board and retest the rear plugs. Did you install all the needed audio drivers?
Also ensure that you don't have any errant standoff causing a short, perhaps test the baord outside the case to ensure that you don't have a potential short somewhere.
If that does not solve the problem, then perhaps you may have a defective analog audio circuit as your digital audio via the USB seems to work.
Thanks for the standoff suggestion, that never occured to me. however, there arent any phantom standoffs anywhere after checking. I unplugged the front audio panel to no change, and i even tried unlugging the LED board that was in the back port next to the sound stuff in case it was somehow doing stuff to no avail.
All the drivers that i could have tried, i did. I tried windows 7 drivers, i tried MSI realtek drivers, and i tried just realtek drivers. looks like ill have to RMA to newegg. i assume theres no way to just use this board until the new one comes then return it so i dont have to be without my PC for a week or 2? :/
    thanks for your help.

  • Video Problem with MS-6390 Motherboard

Hey everyone, here is my problem.   My current video card is an old GeForce 2 MX 440 AGP.   I've never had a problem with it.  Today I purchashed a PNY GeForce FX 5200 AGP.
When I remove my old card, and install the new one, I have a problem which i can't seem to solve.  my pc boots up, checks the ram, blah blah blah, when it goes to start up Windows XP.  The screen remains black.  It doesnt even show the windows xp is loading logo.  Nothing. I took the video card back where i got it, they slapped it in a machine there, and it worked perfectly.  So I came back home, gave PNY a call.  They asked me if the card had an internal video card, I said yes, we went in and disabled it. (at least i think we did) Where the bios mentions how much ram is to be dedicated to the onboard video card, i selected disabled.  So i started the machine up, and there was no picture, so i figured that was it, problem solved. So I slap the PNY card in there. Same results. NOTHING.  Is there something I am missing here? Any help would and I would be VERY gratful!

    Hi..
The thing with these new TI and FX cards is that they require a lot of power to run porperly.. If ure system is running at around 80% capasity, then probly the VGA card hasnt enought power left over in the PSU to initalize properly.. That might be why the system goes blank when the XP boots..
It would be a wise idea to post ure compleate system configaration to get a better answer,,
    Regards

  • Disconnection problems with online gaming - world ...

Other users on BT have alos reoported issues with game hangs and diconnection issues with World of Tanks.
They seem to have started a few days ago. Someitme it is intermittant other times it can last for several minutes.

Having the same issue since yesterday 6th September 2012.
World of Tank client keeps disconecting, then has issues logging back in to the client.
This seems to be hapening to a lot of other players in the UK all on BT
    http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/149124-lag-and-disconnection/
BT had the same problem with World of Warcraft recently, something to do with a BT peering issue. I can only hope this problem is sorted soon.
No other internet activity is affected.

  • Just bought a 970 Gaming Motherboard, what is tmpin 1?

Tmpin1 is getting very high (between 70-90 c) and i have tried to google it but can't find any concrete about it, some says
it is a 'fake' sensor temp and othersays it's the nb. if it is the nb, then what's the max temp?

    Quote from: philiphultgren90 on 10-April-15, 04:11:16
Thank god that you came here, finally some good answer! Yeah, it would be really really good to know what the Vrm's temps is, dont want them to just say poof and kill the whole motherboard.
Do you also get 'bad' performance in games? I get alot of fps drops in Battlefield 4 (Drops down to 30-40 during explosions) which never happend with the other motherboard i had before on the same Cpu speed. Im getting 20% worser performance on this motherboard than i got on the Gigabyte one i had and that is strange as hell becuse this MB is better and faster and have better VRM phase compare to the old one.
I don't play BF4 unfortunately so I can't say anything there. I also do not anything else to compare with by means of this CPU (unless you count my Athlon II x4 640 @3,0 Ghz as a competitor..) but speeds seem to have been good! On the PassMark performanceTest I get slightly over 10.000 cpu points which is pretty nice considering the price a 8320 costs. (OC'ed it to 4,4 Ghz, 1.432v stable. Only stopped here because I got worried about the TMPIN1 temperature..)
As for the VRM's; I have read reviews who tried this motherboard with 9 series FX processors which this motherboard officially does not support and this motherboard handled it without a hitch (even on a long-term review). So I don't think we should be particularly worried about VRM's unless we'd like to keep our 8320's at 5,0 Ghz which I'd doubt!

  • What is my 970 Gaming Motherboard's problem?

latest only! BIOS updates accumulative and each is built off the previous version so the newest contains everything that came before too!

Oh dont worry! The GS60 uses the long form.

    FX-8xxx = 8 cores
Of course the 6300 is better (more powerful) and does not c...

Quote from: mhafiznoor on Today at 02:59:50What is the best and affordable processor?
It is obvious that the best is not so affordable.
Depend on your needs and budget, FX-6300 gets high price/performance...

  • [VIA] I have some problems with the KT6V motherboard...

This is what i have right now for that motherboard: i have an AMD Athlon XP 2800+, All-in-Wonder ATI Video Card, and recently bought a PC3200 512MB DDR ram for it
Well I installed everything that should be connected to the motherboard, when I turn it on, it comes up with this:
    Scan Devices, Please wait...
    Press<Tab> Key into User Window!
    Serial_Ch0 Master:No Device
    Serial_Ch1 Master:No Device.
then it does the load whats indicated in the BIOS, which is the hard drives I have in it. and does that, gets up to a part where it says the computer has been shut down improper and asks if you want to start in safe mode and such, so i hit enter on Start windows normally, and after that, it restarts it does that everytime and i have no clue how to fix it.
If you know how to fix it, that would be awesome.

I agree with STU.Use the WINXP CD to format.I usually go into BIOS and make CD rom first boot device.Put in WINXP CD and boot from the CD.Whan prompted to install WINDOWS,DELETE the partition that it already has and do a fresh format called "RAW".That way you ensure that every file was wiped off the drive.
Almost forgot.Leave it all underclocked. After installing WINXP,load the VIA 4 IN 1 drivers first.Do all you windows updates(I would not install SP2 though)Then you can procede to clock the board to the correct settings. From my experience,if you try to run FSB and RAM and correct speeds before loading WINXP it can and has caused the system to hang before finishing loading and also BSOD if you have to try to resume from where it hangs and continue the install. Not sure why this happens but it worked for me "EVERY" time on several machines with no problems.

  • Problem with X99S GAMING 9 AC - PCIE-PORT reporting V1.1 same with SLI

Yeah as the topic is saying, I got issue with my PCIE 3.0 ports, they are saying my grafic cards are running at x8 1.1
I should first mention that I had these issues for a while, and I also updated all drivers to the latest versions, but still same issues. I got the 1,4 bios version for the motherboard and the nvidia V344.65 that was released today.
I tried to change it in bios from auto to gen 3 on the PCIE-ports, but still same results.
I made a post earlier about that SLI running slow in WoW and 3Dmark Firestrike. Maybe this is the source to the issue due to the ports running at 1.1 and not 3.0?
Also, in both WoW and 3Dmark Firestrike, I get much higher FPS and results with just one grafic card activated, when I go into SLI the results drop like a rock..
The weird thing about SLI though, that it seems to work okay in games like Diablo 3 ROS and 3Dmark11.
I have my grafic cards in the recommended PCIE-ports, 1 and 4.
Here is a screenshot how it looks like in GPU-z:
Is this a known issue and is there any upcoming fix to this? Feels really bad I can't use my grafic cards to their fullest potential..
    My whole computer setup:
    Intel i7 5820K | MSI X99S Gaming 9 AC (bios 1.3) | SLI MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4GB | Samsung 850 Pro 512 GB | WD Red 4TB | G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3000MHz 4x4GB | EVGA SuperNOVA P2 1000W | Noctua NH-U14S PnP | Fractal Design Define XL R2 | 5 Noctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm fans | Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Quote from: Svet on 12-November-14, 23:58:15
its probably because the render test doesn't handle or don't support SLI well and second card become back to idle
run something else apps., bench or games who support SLI well then check their modes
Enable sli load balancing if needs from nvidia control panel to check SLI utilization
Seems to work the correct way when I start a game, but still got issues with WoW and 3Dmark firestrike. My results with SLI is far worse then with just one single card activated. Anyone know why?
I get more FPS from WoW with one card then two, and I get much higher score in 3Dmark firestrike with just one card..
