Problem with a pla

In DEc '03 i bought a muvo2 .5gb and since i have had it it has not worked properly, i t keeps on freezing when in use and when loading music...i have spoken to creative many times and all they ever say is replce the firmware...this does abosolutly sod all. even when i sent it back to them all they did was replace the firmware, and surprise surprise it still did not work. The next one i bought as a present to my girlfreind was in may this year. it is a muvo micro n200 gb, on this one if you try to change tracks it turns off, if it gets to the end of a track, it turns off, if you do pretty much anything...it turns off. all you can do is listen to the radio, which makes it a very expensi've radio! i have tried contacting creative and they don't really help. any ideas?? jamesMessage Edited by Catherina-CL on 09-6-2005 03:08 PM

There are a few Creative reps on this forum, we are here to moderate the forum and make sure everything goes smoothly, but we don't guarantee a response to every thread (that's what Customer Support are for). If you got a response from them but it hasn't solved your problem, just write back and let them know you're still having a problem. If the player is faulty, they can then arrange to replace it for you.
I've renamed the title of this thread to a more suitable one, people of all ages read the forum.

    Today I just bought a new player (zen nano plus). I've installed the cd. But when I connect the player with the usb link to my computer, then suddenly the computer is freezing. When I disconnect the player the computer is still freezed. WHO CAN HELP ME!

    The correct instructions for putting your Zen Micro 5GB are at the top of this page under the post of "How Do I Access Rescue/Recovery Mode on my player " It has instructions for all the players. I used these instructions last night and it worked fine. You don't plug the Zen Micro into the computer when trying to go to recovery mode. You will be plugging in your computer later to add firmware and drivers.

  • Subwoofer Problem with Audigy Pla

    I recently bought a Speedlink Medusa 5. Headset, which is connected to the soundcard through 3 analog wires. Now the front- /rear- and centerspeaker are working fine, but I can't seem to get the subwoofer working with _any_ driver supplied by Creative for the Soundblaster Audigy Player. The headset itself should be ok, as it works perfectly (=> including subwoofer) with the kX drivers (after enabling "Use Subwoofer Output" and "Bass Redirection") and on the fly with the onboard soundcard of my mobo (CMI976).
    I tried to enable "Bass Redirection" in the (latest) Surround Mixer app, but the setting doesn't seem to have any effect on the functionality of the subwoofer. The only effect I got was less bass when I set the frequency higher, so at least the splitting works.
    Using kX is not an option, because it doesn't support EAX and AC3 decoding is still buggy. With the onboard solution I can't connect my TV card, plus it eats a lot of cpu time.
    Now, do I have to buy a new soundcard for the functionality I paid about 75. for years ago?

    i MUST REMOVE THE AUDIGY 4 to play the games and sent to third world as present...
    Anyone can support me?
    I think it's the TRUST 800 DV PCI KIT fireware 400/800 that goes in conflict with Audigy..MAYBE (but i need it for hd fw)? Anyhelp?

  • Severe problem with installing and starting Audio-DVD Pla

    Hi,
    after installing the new drivers (SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe) for my Audigy2ZS in XP SP3 i had np mic boost and the mixer did not show the mic as an selectable source. So i rolled back to my old drivers and after that i have problems with installing and starting the Audio DVD Player. I tried so far: uninstalling everything like its said solution ID 72, checking HD for corrupted files and i did a repair installation of XP. Nothing helped. When i only install the drivers and the DVD Audio Player from the original CD everything is fine until the reboot adter installation. When the OS tries to start the "chkcolor.exe" the PC instantly reboots. When preventing XP from doing so, there is no reboot, but as soon i want to start the DVD Audio Player a reboot occurs again. When i try to uninstall the DVD Audio Player before unstillaing the drivers, the is also a reboot. First uninstalling the drivers and then the DVD Audio Player, there is no reboot.
    Any ideas?
    Best regards and thank in advance,

  • Problems with my mp3 pla

    Hello there,
    About two years ago I bought a Creative Zen Micro (5ghz) and i'd never registered it because i'd didn't want to.
    But now I have several problems with my Creative Zen
    - I'm not able to switch it on (and no the battery is not empty). Only when I connect it to the computer the backlight lit up.
    - My computer doesn't reconize the player although it does lit (only the backlight)
    - When I keep it connected to my computer after it starts up I do get the sound of using the menu (i hear the clicks) but idon't see anything.
    I've tried to contact creative with the help of the support part of the website? for 2 times. With both times i'd never got an answer back not even a confirm mail.
    Can anybody help me because I don't know what to do anymore

  • Problems with connection Creative zen M and DVD-CD pla

    Hi,
    I have problems whem i connect my zen to the DVD player. I've connected zen with a cable going from the headphones to the audio line in (red and white) at the back of the DVD system. I get sound but the problem is that my zen automaticly switch to the FM radio mode, when it should be playing from the music libary. This happens by 70% of the numbers. How can I deal with this problem?
    Problem 2 is that I hear a strong noise when I connect my zen to the DVD player. It's al low sound which comes back in all the 5 boxes en sounds like a bee...
    Problem 3 is that I can't get the full volume on the DVD system. Even when zen is max on 25 i've to put the DVD system also max before a normal sound is coming to me...
    Can anybody please help me? Thanks!

    Hi there,
    . The reason the ZVM is switching to fm radio is because the headphone jack also supports a wired remote that controls some of the ZVM functions there will be some sort of back feed from your DVD head unit to the ZVM causing this to happen.
    2. The headphone jack does carry a bit of noise when used with line in applications and compared to the line out function of the ZVM is muffled and lacks power(this also could be noise in your DVD unit).
    3. Same as above(2) the A/V out function has a set volume and is louder and much clearer than the headphone out jack.( The line out is the A/V out function of the ZVM found in the supplied adaptor that plugs into the bottom of the ZVM)
    To overcome this problem simply use the line out function of the ZVM either through the dongle and an A/V cable or get an after market cable to suit and that should solve your problems with this type application.
    Let us know how you go with it
    Heres the bits
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...7&product=4484
    Or you can search for a cable that plugs straight into the bottom of the ZVM and has rca's on the other end, you should be able to find then via a search here or through epizenter.net in one of the threads

  • Major problem with my Creative Zen Touch 20gb pla

    I seem to be having some serious problems with my player - the scroll button no longer works, and the right-side buttons (Back, Play/Pause and Forward) all malfunction as well. The main issue is the scroll button - this no longer works at all, and without this function the player is essentially useless in all modes other than 'random' - as I cannot scroll down to choose songs by album, artist, genre etc. Even in 'random' mode, the functionality of the player is negligible - I cannot fast forward a track, as if I hold down the 'forward' button it automatically skips forward to new tracks without the chance to play one of them.
    This is not the first time I've had a problem with this particular model - I've had complaints before on this forum about an earlier player I had (same model), a different problem but one that was never fixed - through my own error I misplaced the receipt and was unable to have the player fixed (it was within warranty at the time), so I had to pay ?50 for a replacement - to find that this player is now essentially broken as well has left me disgusted, in honesty. Details of the earlier problems with my former player are at the following link:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=5966
    As if this wasn't enough, I actually experienced problems with my newer player almost from the off - the data folder malfunctioned, to the extent that files I'd placed in there were unable to be removed - eventually I had to format the player, not only losing important data from the data folder, but also experiencing the inconvience of having to spend many hours putting all my music back onto the player once it had been formatted. This was not a massi've issue, more a minor irritance, but again it's left me wondering what the problem is...is this model notoriously poor performance-wise? Three major errors on two separate players, two of them seemingly fatal to the use of the player, inside the space of just over a year is utterly ridiculous, I think.
    At this point, I'd like to know what I can do to get a reimbursement on the cost of my current player, as opposed to a replacement - although I have found the performance of the Zen Touch 20gb to be generally very good, I'm not willing to put up with having each new replacement fail within a year of receiving it. I have lost all confidence in Creative providing me with a player I can rely on, to be honest.
    If anyone could point me in the right direction with regards to finding out how I can go about receiving a refund on the price of my player, I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Simon O'Brien

    Simon, this is actually a common problem with the touch. Mine did it about a year after purchase, so I was safe to open it up and fix it. It is actually a really simple fix and is due to a loose connector. I know alot of other people on nomadness.net were having this problem, so I posted a solution here. Hope this helps!

  • Problems with Sync Manager app & ZEN 32GB pla

    hi all.
    I've just bought a 32GB Zen...nice player but already had to send one back that was DOA and now I have a problem I'd appreciate some help with.
    Has anyone else had problems with the Sync Manager tool locking the Zen after manual syncs? Every time I use the sync manager with my Zen the sync appears to succeed but the Zen locks requiring a reset and then proceeds to rebuild the content incorrectly.
    Is it possible to make ZENCast Organiser sync podcasts directly to an SD card rather than the ZEN Player?
    Hopefully I'll get a little more response this time round...
    btw I'm running a 32GB ZEN player with a 2GB microSD card loaded into a Sandisk SD adaptor on Win XP SP2.
    Thanks in advance.

    I got my hopes up when I saw someone had replied to this at last! No nickc7, I've I'd no response to this issue at all, and even though I since installed the latest version of Zen Media Explorer the problem is still there. Oddly, if I format my Zen it let's me sync my contacts first time, but after that any attempts to resync fail. Most frustrating! :angry:
    Would be nice if someone from Creative would take the time to respond to this bug

  • Problem with two thunderbolt display's daisychained

    hey,
    i'm having problems with my mac setup. i've got two thunderbolt displays, hooked to a 15" mbp retina laptop.
    i've got my iphone hooked to one of the usb ports of the display then i've got a keyboard, a superdrive and a charger for my magic mouse hooked to the displays as well as a firewire hd. two usb 3 hard drives are hooked directly to the mbp.
    i also changed the audio midi setup to let the audio pla through both of the displays to get a better sound. the mbp is closed so only those two displays get a video signal.
    i have issues when data is transfered along the lines. f.eg my keyboard doesn't work from time to time, my iphone wont be recognized when connected to the dock. not really sure what the problems is a the transfercapacity shouldn't be to it's limit.
    could it be a energy problem? that the displays don't get enough power, my power strip has a voltag controller in it, might that be a problem?
    greets.

    I think Apple should extend the warranty if they have a known manufacturing issue.  I won't be investing another $1000 on a display from Apple ever again.  I can't afford it.  I can by an LG, Viewsonic, Dell, or "fill in the blank" for a fraction of the cost.
    I expect a $1000 display to last me more than 20 months.

  • Problem with numeric types in Abap Proxy

    Hello,
    We are having problems with some abap proxy calls. When a numeric type is filled with 0 the node it´s automatically removed and no value it's recived in XI. The only way I have found to avoid this problem it's to define the field with type string or change the cardinality to 1..1 instead of 0..1. It's there any way to maintain the type and the cardinality?? Maybe with a pattern??
    Regards,
    Alberto Pla.

    Hi Alberto
    I had this problem, and I decided to use xsd:string instead of xsd:integer. This will solve the issue.
    Anyway.. check this note:

  • Many, many problems with firefox

    Hello
    Firefox has become ingérable.Soit is not open windows, or you can not close them, or all windows are locked or not firefox loads more etc. .. It has become a real real problem and if things do s 'I'll have to arrange not abandon it, because it's really hellish. What can I do to solve these problems because my patience is wearing thin. Thank you. Regards. Jean Marc

    Bonjour Jean. Je ne parle pas très bien français, donc s'il vous plaît essayer de comprendre.
    It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
    Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
    If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

  • A problem with threads

    I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
    Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
    My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
    Thank you in advance,
    Lefty

    This was one solution from the socket programming forum, have you tried this??
    public Thread MyThread extends Thread{
         boolean active = true;
         public void run(){
              ss.setSoTimeout(90);
              while (active){
                   try{
                        serverSocket = ss.accept();
                   catch (SocketTimeoutException ste){
                   // do nothing
         // interrupt thread
         public void deactivate(){
              active = false;
              // you gotta sleep for a time longer than the
              // accept() timeout to make sure that timeout is finished.
              try{
                   sleep(91);
              }catch (InterruptedException ie){
              interrupt();
    }

  • Problem with Threads and a static variable

    I have a problem with the code below. I am yet to make sure that I understand the problem. Correct me if I am wrong please.
    Code functionality:
    A timer calls SetState every second. It sets the state and sets boolean variable "changed" to true. Then notifies a main process thread to check if the state changed to send a message.
    The problem as far I understand is:
    Assume the timer Thread calls SetState twice before the main process Thread runs. As a result, "changed" is set to true twice. However, since the main process is blocked twice during the two calls to SetState, when it runs it would have the two SetState timer threads blocked on its synchronized body. It will pass the first one, send the message and set "changed" to false since it was true. Now, it will pass the second thread, but here is the problem, "changed" is already set to false. As a result, it won't send the message even though it is supposed to.
    Would you please let me know if my understanding is correct? If so, what would you propose to resolve the problem? Should I call wait some other or should I notify in a different way?
    Thanks,
    B.D.
    Code:
    private static volatile boolean bChanged = false;
    private static Thread objMainProcess;
       protected static void Init(){
            objMainProcess = new Thread() {
                public void run() {
                    while( objMainProcess == Thread.currentThread() ) {
                       GetState();
            objMainProcess.setDaemon( true );
            objMainProcess.start();
        public static void initStatusTimer(){
            if(objTimer == null)
                 objTimer = new javax.swing.Timer( 1000, new java.awt.event.ActionListener(){
                    public void actionPerformed( java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt){
                              SetState();
        private static void SetState(){
            if( objMainProcess == null ) return;
            synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
                bChanged = true;
                try{
                    objMainProcess.notify();
                }catch( IllegalMonitorStateException e ) {}
        private static boolean GetState() {
            if( objMainProcess == null ) return false;
            synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
                if( bChanged) {
                    SendMessage();
                    bChanged = false;
                    return true;
                try {
                    objMainProcess.wait();
                }catch( InterruptedException e ) {}
                return false;
        }

    Thanks DrClap for your reply. Everything you said is right. It is not easy to make them alternate since SetState() could be called from different places where the state could be anything else but a status message. Like a GREETING message for example. It is a handshaking message but not a status message.
    Again as you said, There is a reason I can't call sendMessage() inside setState().
    The only way I was able to do it is by having a counter of the number of notifies that have been called. Every time notify() is called a counter is incremented. Now instead of just checking if "changed" flag is true, I also check if notify counter is greater than zero. If both true, I send the message. If "changed" flag is false, I check again if the notify counter is greater than zero, I send the message. This way it works, but it is kind of a patch than a good design fix. I am yet to find a good solution.
    Thanks,
    B.D.

  • Problem with threads running javaw

    Hi,
    Having a problem with multi thread programming using client server sockets. The program works find when starting the the application in a console using java muti.java , but when using javaw multi.java the program doesnt die and have to kill it in the task manager. The program doesnt display any of my gui error messages either when the server disconnect the client. all works find in a console. any advice on this as I havent been able to understand why this is happening? any comment would be appreciated.
    troy.

    troy,
    Try and post a minimum code sample of your app which
    does not work.
    When using javaw, make sure you redirect the standard
    error and standard output streams to file.
    Graeme.Hi Graeme,
    I dont understand what you mean by redirection to file? some of my code below.
    The code works fine under a console, code is supposed to exit when the client (the other server )disconnects. the problem is that but the clientworker side of the code still works. which under console it doesnt.
